Prada Luna Rossa Carbon Men EDT opens with a moderate projection of bergamot and pepper. The opening is bright, sharp, intense, sour, sparkly, and very pleasant, the fragrance comes across as sporty, refreshing, and very appealing. The initial projection is moderate; the pepper helps to improve the projection. A moment after the opening the mid notes come up, they appear to support the opening notes rather than carving a space for themselves. The lavender adds a faint floral touch that softens a bit the citrus edges; the soil tincture adds an earthy note, almost green that enhances the bergamot; the metallic tone feels like a box of metallic tools or a box of metallic silverware, a curious and noticeable note. The coal feels just like, coal, a slightly smoky, burnt wood-like note that blends well with the pepper found in the opening. The watery notes are not prominent. Finally, Prada Luna Rossa Carbon reaches its dry-down and the ambroxan comes up creating a musky-lemony and slightly powdery note but very projecting note, it ramps up projection. The patchouli listed as a base note is a faint green fresh touch. The fragrance has some noticeable opening to dry-down change, the opening is citrusy, sharp, sour, but as time passes, the citrus note takes one step down, letting the ambroxan to take the lead of the fragrance with a musky-lemony note that seems to create a continuous opening to dry-down bergamot line. Once Prada Luna Rossa Carbon Men EDT has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, musky lemony ambroxan, and peppery fragrance with some metallic, earthy, powdery, and very soft floral tones. The fragrance feels casual, elegant, energizing, exotic, fragrant, fresh, slightly green, inviting, masculine, modern, nicely-blended, playful, refreshing, sharp, slightly smokey, sour, spicy, sporty, versatile, zesty, and very pleasant. Prada Luna Rossa Carbon launched in 2017, as a perfumer, Daniela Andrier, with a modern and sophisticated fragrance blended with masterful natural and synthetic elements, with a clean aura, fresh and industrial. A vibrant and effervescent abertura, like a bergamot with a citrus explosion, tempered with the presence of chili pepper, which adds a stylish and elegant spicy toque. No core, lavanda is removed, it contains a classic and aromatic freshness, but it has a contemporary composition that includes the use of metallic, aquatic notes, and a lifting toque to do, elements that have a "mid", urban and almost mineral composition. A dark, electric lavender backed by patchouli to create an edgy fougere accord that’s both modern and a little bit of a throwback. It’s big, bold, and really beautiful. I know everyone compares this to Sauvage, and while I get the tonal similarities (bergamot, patchouli, ambroxan), they really are pretty distinct scents. Sauvage’s opening is both sharp and airier, less grounded in dark lavender, and honestly with a less realistic bergamot, but with its peppery notes already in place. That pepper carries Sauvage quickly into its post-fresh drydown which is rough, peppery, a bit sweaty, and with a distinct dryer sheet “puff” effect. Whereas Carbon spends a lot of time in its rich bergamot-lavender mode, bolstered by patchouli and metallic accents, before sliding into a smooth patchouli dry down. It lacks the scratchy woody-amber base of Sauvage, and honestly beyond an initial family similarity, the two go down different roads. Carbon strikes me as the smoother and more refined of the two, smelling a bit more natural, but it doesn’t offer the Janus faces of Sauvage’s distinct fresh-then-rough transition. Sauvage has never read to me as a fougere, whereas Carbon certainly does. I like both, but while Sauvage is still a sort of bête noire for me that attracts and repels, Carbon pretty much just has me swooning. To me, a more apt comparison for Carbon is MFK Masculin Pluriel, as both are decidedly modern, patchouli-grounded takes on a fougere, and both feature beautiful lavender notes. Carbon is the richer and bolder of the two, however. Definitely recommended for those with modern/edgy sensibilities but sympathy for classic vibes.

So it’s true this one has been reformulated and the new note breakdown seems accurate on the Prada page. They’ve taken out the pepper which use to hit your nose on the initial spray and the lavender no longer has that blue vegetal feel. No more soil and coal but instead they’ve added geranium which combined with the lavender makes it feel even more like a fougere type scent. To my nose it’s still got that bergamot (although it is less zesty zing and more subdued), watery metallic lavender with ambroxan and patchouli in the base. Longevity seems to be similar or even better with possibly slightly less projection. To be honest I think they’ve improved this although I know not everyone will agree. Everything I found a bit cloying about the previous formulation has been smoothed out and now it kind of hits a bit more like a more masculine Prada L’Homme with a smoother hit of lavender which has taken this even further away from that screechy Sauvage style. Overall, this is now a very modern and pleasant fougere that will probably become my new go to dumb reach.

Prada's perception of a flanker for the Luna Rossa line really makes no sense to me. They're really not connected at all by anything except bottle design and name. As far as designers that are fresh-oriented go, I find this to be fairly unique and for some, honestly signature scent-worthy. Not for me, though, as it honestly lacks that "it" or "wow" factor that I personally prefer to have as a signature. However, I think it could be one in that it's distinct, inoffensive, and easy to wear. Some would call it a "dumb reach." Longevity and performance are great--especially at its discounted price point. It definitely can dress down, although it suits business casual best. This ain't a young man's fragrance; it conversely is nowhere near mature. 25+ male in an office job is what I get from it. No wonder I like it then, as someone in that demographic. Cooler weather is probably best for most people with this, but has enough freshness that it would work year-round. 8/10 for me overall. Will wear it a lot, especially for $55 for 100mL.

Everyone says that this smells like Door Sausage, but luckily (or unluckily) for this review, I've never smelled the famed Dior number (I do have Elixir, though). With that out of the way, I really like this. It's clean, and "fresh", but in a weird metallic kind of a way? Also soapy. Kind of hard to describe. I can pick out the lavender, but apart from that I have no idea what makes it metallic. And yes, it's definitely on the synthetic side rather than the "natural oils" side or whatever. For me that doesn't matter, but some are picky about that. I think this is very versatile. You could wear this just about everywhere in every climate, even winter. As a flanker, I think it has a bit in common with the original EdT. I mean, they smell really different, but there's something there under all that that glues them together. It's that thing that they really amped up in Sport. Carbon has it too. Still, very nice. It's one of those fragrances that I immediately know I'll have zero issue getting to the bottom of the bottle of.

I own both this and Sauvage EDP, and I can confidently say that they are not the same fragrance by any stretch of the imagination. They certainly belong to the same family of fragrance, but calling Carbon a clone of Sauvage would be like calling Egoiste Platinum a clone of Drakkar Noir. The similarities are there, but the two fragrances steer off into two separate directions. If Sauvage is the shower gel of this family of fragrance (and indeed, it is highly reminiscent of shower gel), then Carbon EDT is the shaving cream. It has a prominent, delicious lavender note, a refreshing metallic airiness, and a more well-rounded profile compared to Sauvage. When you smell Carbon, you immediately think of a luxurious shaving cream. When you smell Sauvage EDP, it's hard to imagine anything other than men's body wash. I like both of them, but Carbon EDT feels markedly more sophisticated, and it's also simply much more pleasant to smell on onself.

Best "Sauvage" on the market, has aged much better than the OG. Sauvage is a modern classic, but it's also so incredibly duped and too many frags are "inspired by it" (including this ofc, ironically). Like many of the popular blues, I associate Sauvage with a high-school locker room at this point. I've smelled that "Sauvage + sweat" combination on teenagers too many times in public and my gym. Luna Rossa Carbon feels like a more modern take on Sauvage, removing the rough edges. Sauvage dupes tend to overplay those rough edges (mostly because of subpar ratios, ingredient quality, and overall mixing) and that sadly also affects my enjoyment of Sauvage itself (EdT and EdP at least). Lunar Rossa Carbon is cleaner and more wearable while still retaining most of the core characteristics that made Sauvage successful in the first place. It is also more mature, so if you're 18 or something, Sauvage may still be the safer choice.

Prada did it again with this. This is nothing like any other fragrance, it's so weird, but it just works. I never thought I'd choose to smell like metal and coal until I came across this. Makes you smell like you're insane, but in the sexy way, you know? The combination of masculine spiciness and machinery makes this the ultimate smell of power and potency, yet not in a try-hard way whatsoever. For me, this is an 11/10 fragrance (for comparison, a 10/10 for me is Salvador Dali pour homme, a 5/10 would be Drakkar Noir, and a 1/10 is CK one). I'll admit, I do like the OG LR more, as it is the most amazing smelling fragrance ever made, but this one is a masterpiece, too. The Luna Rossa series overall never fails to disappoint me, but this flanker is by far the most amazing one in the bunch to this day. Prada: keep up the good work. I'm here for all the flankers.

Going into this, I had no idea this was Sauvage-inspired. Immediately upon first sniff I go—"wait a minute.." and immediately reach for my bottle of Sauvage, and sure enough, they smell very close. Like twins with different personalities. The key difference is that the Luna Rossa Carbon kinda smells like what Sauvage (2025 reformulation) smells like on my skin in the drydown after a tough workout, but in the opening. It is a thicker fragrance—earthy, saltier, more aromatic, very amber-and-musk-forward; whereas Sauvage is more airy, citrusy, and has that dry, butane-adjacent aroma to it. Projects ~4ft for the 1st hour, projecting closer for about 4hrs, dropping to a skin scent afterwards, before disappearing by hour 8. Basically, if you're tired of Sauvage but want the same vibe in a darker, more mature package, then get this. ✅Excellent

I thought I didn't like Luna Rossa Carbon for years because every time I tested it on a tester strip at the department store I'd get a strong black licorice / anise type note - which I hated. I finally tested it on my skin, and was shocked at how different it was. The black licorice note completely disappeared and the whole fragrance came to life. I've never smelled a cologne that transforms this much on skin vs paper. As many have mentioned, it's Sauvage with the douchiness dialed way down. I do think it holds its own and is different enough. True to its packaging, I don't get a blue marine feeling with Carbon like I do with Sauvage. It's more mature as well. So if you're an older guy who secretly likes Sauvage but doesn't want to tell people you wear Sauvage, get this.

What I love about this most is the soapiness. It smells so clean and well put together, giving me distinctly artisan soap vibes. No body wash or generic bars. It smells like mild citrus and lavender, pepper, and woods- all brought together with a earthy clay or charcoal into a hand-cut and market-sold bar of soap. I feel so at home with myself when I wear this- confident and capable, ready to greet the day. EDIT: Carbon has been tugging at my olfactory memories all week, but I haven't been able to remember what exactly it reminds me of. But now I remember. It's Azzaro Pour Homme Cologne Intense. They are very, very close. Similar lavender and citrus notes, and a base of earthy ambery-ness.

This is one of my favorite fragrances from Prada. I was choosing between this and Sauvage EDP, so I was comparing them side-by-side a few times and found them very similar. Prada Carbon is a more mellow, powdery and refined version of the two, which comes at a cost of lower longevity and sillage. However, all things considered, its performance is not bad at all. Ended up with Sauvage because it was a better fit for my collection, a beast performer, and more of what I was looking for at the moment, but you can’t go wrong with this one. If you like Sauvage but find it a bit too much, then this is what you want, and I’d recommend everyone to try it out.

this is a 10/10 fragrance for me. an explosion of peppery fresh, clean, earthy, metallic, soapy lavender and ambroxan. i saw a review that mentioned they got no metal, coal or earth and that's literally the drydown for me. i was in Hawaii hiking on a volcanic rock cliff and it literally gave me Carbon vibes. the metallic notes smell like a freshly ironed shirt, and the coal definitely gives me a dirty, volcanic rock feel. it never looses that ocean, seaside air freshness. this might sound weird but the watery, soil, ambroxan notes remind me of a freah water pitcher filter lol. it's sexy, earthy, dry, soapy, sophisticated and clean. love it.

I think this one is a 10/10 scent and a very great versatile pick for daily wear, work, casual gatherings etc. The soapy lavender aspect makes it distinct from sauvage so I can't imagine it getting mixed up, definitely its own unique scent. Longevity wise it is pretty darn good for an EDT, if I put some on at night I'll still smell some on skin the next day. Beware of nose blindness though. Projection isn't super loud whatsoever, making it great for work but perhaps not ideal if you're out somewhere and want more presence. Overall this is my current favorite and will be rocking as my signature scent for a while

This is a wonderful scent. Not a fan of Sauvage, don’t see a great comparison. This one opens with intense sweet black licorice and fennel for me with a dusty biting mineral edge. Dirt, metal, yea I can see all that, though It turns somewhat floral, cool, and soapy, perhaps that’s the lavender I’m smelling. It does have a slightly fluffy and sweet undergirding that comes off a touch powdery and vanillic for me. Intense and spicy with good sweetness, harmonious, and it evolves through the dry down but still maintains a lot of its character. Love this scent. Good projection and silage though not overwhelming.

Very clean, sophisticated and attractive scent. Yes - I does smell like Dior Sauvage, but in all aspects except projection, it's got Sauvage beat. The scent is better, more elegant, elevated. The longevity for me at least is great. The opening only lasts an hour or so but the dry down is by no means bad. Sauvage projects heavier - but I like the fact that Luna Rossa Carbon doesn't SCREAM for your attention like Sauvage. This is the fragrance that started it all for me, and I know for a fact that once this bottle runs out - I'll get another. Edit, I HAVE in fact finished my bottle - was worth every penny.

It’s a dark and mysterious scent with lavender, amber, a touch of spice, and that clean, soapy vibe typical of Prada. Many compare it to a fresher take on Dior Sauvage but at a more affordable price point (around $80). However, as an EDT, its longevity isn’t the strongest. The bottle has a sleek design, is easy to hold, and features a great atomizer that delivers a solid spray. I typically go with 5-6 sprays. Right out of the bottle, it smells great, but after 15-30 minutes, it transforms into something truly incredible. This is a versatile cologne that works well year-round.

This is my favorite version of the Sauvage DNA. It’s a bit mineralic without being too screechy, and the lavender gives it a nice airy freshness to balance the amber. Longevity and performance from my 2025 bottle is not very good. I need four sprays, and even then, others can’t smell it on me unless I put their nose up to it. That said, I like the scent and enjoy catching whiffs of it. I like smelling it on clothes. I always think about the “if you could only have one” test, and this is accessible and crowd pleasing enough to be in contention for that title. Very versatile.

Fragrance Journal Entry #186 Right off the bat you will notice the Savauge simularities but they differ quite a bit in the wearing experience. This one tones down that sharp metallic ambroxan note in Savauge and adds a ton of lavender making this super smooth, now this seems to hurt the projection a little bit but the longevity is still there. This is one of my favorite spring time fragrances and in the air will catch alot of attention. If i had to recommend a first fragrance for someone this would be high on that list. Rating: 8.4/10 Blind Buy Safe? YES

Used to be my go to scent, still love it everytime I smell it. I do understand the Sauvage comparisons but in my opinion it’s much better...like many people have said, it’s a bit more of a mature version and the pepper not really stands out. I wish it lasted longer and projected more as it smells incredible it just doesn’t last that long for me, maybe 4 hours or so. If you’re like me and you like to smell almost obnoxiously strong just double spray this everywhere and you might get 6-8 hours out of it but it’ll like be a skin scent by the end.

So I got both Luna Rossa Black and Luna Rossa Carbon, I haven't tried any of the others, so out of the two I liked the most, it's certainly this, it's more versatile, it's more noticeable but not in a in your face kind of way, just I didn't find Black to be as amazing as others have made it out to be, and it's pretty much restricted to fall and winter. Carbon can be worn anytime of the year, it's certainly in the same bracket as Sauvage, but more subtle and less f**kboy'ish. Beautiful scent and one I'm pretty happy with.

This is a beast of a daily driver. Dumbest reach in my collection, it takes the Sauvage DNA in such a nice direction; it's got that Prada powderiness/soapy quality they do so well and gives you a blast of lavender, ambroxan and metallic notes. In my opinion is a much more refined, elegant version of Sauvage EDT. Will of course vary from skin to skin but when the weather is mild I easily get 3 hours of projection before it dries to a skin scent. Sillage is fairly moderate but this is another big compliment getter 8.5/10

Been my signature scent for a long time now, takes the sauvage DNA and makes it better in my opinion. I specifically say "DNA" of sauvage because this is more of a standalone for me, the spiciness and generally cloying sweetness is replaced with lavender and ambroxan which allows for a scent that projects well without being obnoxious. The soapy freshness with the earthy rain-like quality make it a sensational summer scent but really its a solid all year rounder. Masterpiece, less is more as they say.

I loved sauvage EDP and I think love this even more. So similar yet so different. I agree with everyone who says this a smoother, soapier, sauvage just less spicy and more lavender. I definitely also detect those slightly metallic mineral notes. Longevity is good, projection decent. I'm fairly new to fragrance collecting and I think I'm going to go down the Luna rossa rabbit hole. I now own this, the EDT and black, all by the same perfumer, all absolutely fantastic in their own soapyish way

A great fragrance from PRADA.. It's a pity that it was discontinued. The fragrance is made in the direction of Dior savage, but is not a clone. I like this one better. It has less powderiness and less care. This is a delicate urban fragrance for a business man. It all starts with pepper and bergamot, transforming into beautiful lavender (yes, this note is beautifully executed here) with metallic shades. Very good. Durability is good, the train is delicate but noticeable.

I can see it reminding people of Sauvage , but it goes no further than that. This is absolutely NOT a clone of Sauvage at all. The two are very different from one another with Carbon coming out on top for me. I love the metallic - soapy side of this fragrance . This stuff is gold in my opinion , and having bought over 120 fragrances since buying my favorite a few years back , this is the first one in over 120 that rwally stands out to me and is for sure in my top 5.

As someone who likes the scent of sauvage and hates the stereotypes that come along with it, this fits the role perfectly. This is not a copy of sauvage, nor is it the little brother. It's that cool cousin who comes to the family function with a pack of Twisted Tea and is the only family member that's fun to talk to when everyone else is so serious and mysterious. I like it, and for an EDT, it lasts a pretty long time, I get 6 hours or so before needing to respray.

Re-visiting this fragrance after getting whiffs of different Sauvages at work lately helps me remember why I bought it in the first place. It smells fairly similar to Sauvage, but it's more like a cousin. It doesn't have that nostril burning sensation that's in the Sauvage DNA. Instead, it has a more powdery and smooth lavender balancing it out. My bottle is from 2018 and the performance is strong. Projection isn't huge, but it lasts forever on my clothes.

This is a really nice fragrance and one of my favorites. It has a clean, fresh, and slightly sweet scent with a modern, masculine vibe. It reminds me of Dior Sauvage, but in my opinion, this one is smoother and better balanced. It feels less sharp and more refined, making it easier to wear in different situations. More masculine. Overall, it’s a very pleasant and versatile fragrance that I really enjoy and would recommend. Pure love ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 out of 5

I love this scent in the dry down and the opening. Loved it at first smell. But now, I associate this scent with my friend's last straw with me before he decided to kick me out of our friend's server and end our 5+ year friendship. I don't regret them ever being my friends and having spent all that time with them, but I have to move on and go on with life. Seems we outgrew each other and the end has come. Thank you for this memory, Prada.

This is Prada’s take on Suavage and it’s been done pretty dam good to be honest. I like this more than Sauvage since it’s a smoother soapier take on the dna. More versatile and can still pull it off on date nights or be chilling at home or at the gym. You can definitely get nose blind to this more than other fragrances so it must be that Ambroxen note. Solid 9.5/10 for me a dumb reach, daily driver, whatever you want. Certified banger 🔥

Never smelled the older formulation, but for what it is right now, there aren't many better options currently out on the designer market. Very versatile, no-brainer type of fragrance that anybody can pull off. Like other reviews say, it is a less cloying Dior Sauvage that's a bit cleaner. Can also get it on discounters for like $80. Absolutely worth every penny, even now. 8/10 (only bc it's a edt and doesn't last super long)

I've been wearing this since it came out. Versatile, fresh with some spiciness. It quickly became my signature and office wear scent. The pepper, lavender, coal and metallic notes stick out the most. I'm not sure if it's the ambroxan that women are attracted to or something else in this scent, but I've gotten a few comments on this one. On my skin it seems to last 6-7 hours so longevity is goods. I can't wait to try the EDP.

Amazing SAUVAGE-ish fragrance. It feels a little smoother. Best way to describe it is if a 15-25y/o uses Sauvage, this one fits the older brother that’s 25+. More lavender heavy in the opening, little bit less peppery with ambroxan and metallic notes during the dry down. Daily driver, super versatile. Can literally use it for work, gym, date, you name it. Recommended if you want that Sauvage DNA with a little twist.

i love this stuff. it is what dreams are made of. take every bath you ever had and put it in a spray. powdery amber metal. clean af. i dont get the nasty aquatic that Sauvage edp has so dont listen to anyone comparing this to that. Dior has really gone downhill, especially with the new Homme formulation. Disgusting cheap aquatics. This smells more like Jimmy Choo Man Ice but lasts 20x longer.

Easily...EASILY the strongest EDT I've ever bought. I can put this on in the morning, go for something else by the afternoon and that afternoon frag will be done and dusted whilst THIS will be popping off my skin underneath. Absolutely incredible. Lovely scent, you can't hate it. The longevity for an EDT is mad. The pricepoint is amazing. Can't hate anything about it. K Bye.

This really impressed me when I first smelled the opening. Really clean scent thanks to the lavender and bergamot while the coal gives it a unique earthiness. This was before I smelled any of the sauvage fragrances. They definitely have a more shower gel vibe than Luna Rossa Carbon. This is the more professional and office safe version, which is what Prada is good at.

Perfectly masculine fresh spices, lavender, ambroxan, and metallic rain. It's not too sweet and not too sharp or bitter and is somewhat similar to Dior Sauvage, but it does its own thing so it isn't a replacement or clone by any stretch. Excellent contender for a safe, signature scent. Works all year round, because smelling fresh and clean works in all seasons.

SMOOTH AND CLEAN. There is no other like this. You can say that is generic, that I need to agree... but clean, smooth, inoffensive and with this quality, it is hard to find. It is sooo good, so addicted, that is perfect to wear when you just want to relax and smells good. Must have in a world that nowadays everything is too sweet and heavy.

This is a great cologne that one can use throughout the year. It is somewhat similar to Dior Sauvage in terms of its composition but its longevity is shorter. It's got your typical male scents like bergamot, black pepper, lavender etc which aren't unique but compared to the price range for Dior Sauvage this is much more affordable.

I had this. not a fan. although a smoother version of sauvage. But this is not for me. i sold this easily and quickly as a lot of people like this scent. but not me. My favorite from Prada Luna Rossa line are Prada Luna Rossa and Ocean! i don't like the metallic notes or coil or soil in here. It smells like rexona deodorant!

I love this one. I don’t get the fresh spicy, more of a clean pepper yet earthy metallic / cold creek water vibe. The lavender has a calming effect when I wear it. At the store, I spayed it on a sample card to use as a bookmark, and enjoyed the scent on the paper pages, so purchased a bottle. Nothing else is quite like it.

Prada, for me, always was the definition of elegance in designers fragrance world. So if you search an elegant, serious, well-mannered blue fragrance, this is it! Of course you have the loud and aggressive Sauvage or the young and playful Dylan Blue but if you want a class up this is it: Luna Rossa Carbon!

Ms. Andrier approached this in a very interesting manner. While the opening resembles very much the sauvage dna, when it goes into the dry down it picks up luna rossa dna elements and makes this very interesting. In my opinion this is one of the most interesting takes on the original edt sauvage dna

Very good, clean smelling fragrance. Reminds me of the smell of a luxurious high end hotel. I don't feel that it smells like sauvage at all until I layered it with YSL Y. Very blind buy safe and worth the price, also the bottle is extremely tasteful and definitely my favorite of the Luna Rossa line.

One of my favorite fragrances of all time. I prefer this 24/7, 365 days a year over Sauvage, not a knock to Sauvage, but I absolutely love this fragrance. You can't go wrong with it; is blind buy safe, and you won't be disappointed. First fragrance I ever burned through a whole bottle of. 10/10

Citrus, lavender, and minerallic/metallic notes. Projection and longevity are mediocre; I can't sense it at all after a workday. Nice soapy and clean scent, inoffensive and great for all occasions, but nothing mind-blowing. I've never tried Sauvage, so I have no clue how they compare.

Smelled this at Ulta last week and had to grab a bottle. The easiest cheap dumb reach wear it to the gym or work. I get a heavy lavender cool metallic note throughout the wear. A less screechy version of Sauvage. Something you’d throw on hanging out at your house watching tv.
