Prada

This was the first fragrance Prada produced back in 1990. Unfortunately, long time discontinued. I was a young Uni student at the time, but already a passionate perfumista, and i remember being given a 5 ml mini bottle of this gem. It had a navy blue textured cardboard box (same as the shoe box) and the juice was deep amber, like a honey syrup. I cherished it and used it sparingly til the last drop. I adored it. It was tremendously expensive and never could I afford a bottle at the time. I still remember clearly its composition! This was a honey, dried fruit oriental with a chypre connotation. Yet it was strongly ambery and a bit resinous in the drydown (think Youth Dew Amber Nude if you ever smelled it) smoky, and the effect was very roaring twenties. It was grand. Ladylike, elegant, a masterpiece. Such a pity it's long gone and now Prada produces mainly sugary nonsenses.

A masterpiece. Elegant, opulent, powerful. If you find this discontinued gem grab it! This is luxury from better times. Un capolavoro. Elegante, avvolgente, potente e lussuoso. Purtroppo è fuori produzione ma se lo trovate lo consiglio caldamente. My vote-9

i smell only honey and vetiver

It was an Odd perfume, expecially in the 90s where the fruity notes had took the dominium of the market. Prada was a niche luxury brand that time (1990). Known but definetly not so popular. This was a sort of Aromatic Elixir, or Ysatis, not so similar, but of that kind. Bewitched honeyed balsamic spiced dark bitter elixir. And green tobacco also. Almost masculine. Bit Animal. Trace of soapiness. Very unusual and vintage, 20s/30s. It could be one of the firsts Etro. I do notice most: Honey/beeswax, rose, green balsamic aromatic notes, oakmoss, dried dates, jasmine, bergamot. Delicious for sorcerers. High perfumery. It was very expensive. (I still have a mini flacon. testing now)

It’s an evening perfume for sure. Powerful, spicy, sexy, grand. Sexy in a beautiful fortysomething woman way. Does not smell “old lady” to me. I get a lot of sweetness but not as much floral. The honey really comes through. I would probably wear it in the fall/winter. Too much in hot weather.

Don't vote with your imagination (or is it delusion?), this is nothing like Prada's Prada (2004) which is a patchouli and benzoin bomb, but it's a honeyed rose chypre. It's more like Pierre Cardin's Rose Cardin or Shiseido's Nombre Noir. But it's not as chypre as those two. the last note smells like the smell of toothpaste leftover scent after brushing your teeth (minty and anisic).

I was excited to receive a sample of this scent from my sales associate at Neimans... she's given me some very good and even spectacular introductions in the past. She introduced me to Escada Acte II, numerous beautiful Jo Malone scents, and some ethereal Dior fragrances. Plus, it's Prada. I was expecting.... well, Italian. Quite a disappointment. This scent is heavy and cloying. All day, I picked up an undertone that reminded me of Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds. Not a favorite. (Love Miss Taylor, but White Diamonds... not so much.) This was just disappointing all around. The scent is not modern, and not destined to be a classic either. Overly sweet, not balanced at all, and too much musk and sandalwood.
