Prada Candy L'Eau

I've been in the market for a new sort of "signature" scent for a while now- though I've never had a true and lasting signature, it seems to change throughout the phases of my life. But, I digress... First of all, I LOVE the scent of this one. I went into Ulta to just sniff some perfumes (I had been wanting to smell Angel by Thierry Mugler for some time seeing as I really enjoy Alien, but I didn't want to spend the money on a sample- for the record, the BO smell that many people complain of was very prevalent to me when I smelled Angel. Unfortunately. Didn't spray it on my skin though, so who knows.) I made my way to the Prada section and smelled all of the scents available there at Ulta. I ended up spraying Amber, the original Candy, and Candy L'eau onto various parts of my arms for comparison. I also smelled Infusion D'Iris, but only on the paper so I can't give a true assessment of that one- though I did like what I smelled. All four of the Prada scents that I smelled had a similar burst in the opening which I would describe as "bubbly" or carbonated even. That being said, none of them have shared top notes (or at least according to the Fragrantica descriptions) so I'm kind of at a loss for what note that could be! However, the note that they did share was benzoin. This note gave each of the perfumes a sort of soda-like sweetness on the dry down usually- which I really really enjoyed! Though I'm sure it's not for everyone. To my nose, Candy L'eau smelled like a happy medium between the original Candy and Prada (Amber), taking things I liked from both of them. The sweet caramel creaminess from Candy with a little bit of a kick which feels reminiscent of the aggressive top notes of Prada (Amber). After the opening L'eau takes one of two paths. In a cooler, more dry environment like my air conditioned office L'eau's sweet pea note really comes to the front of the composition. In fact, today at work is the first time that I'm noticing it from the scent. In a warmer or even a more humid environment, the musk and benzoin really stand out. As far as longevity and sillage are concerned, I think it lasts much longer and is much stronger in a dry and air conditioned environment or during the winter. In heat and humidity it is much closer to the skin and doesn't last quite as long, which is to be expected from an EDT. I sprayed on before work this morning around 8 AM and it's noon now and it's still going pretty strong. In fact, this is my first time wearing it to work and I sprayed for the humid summer and I'm thinking now it might've been a little too much for this environment as it's kind of giving me a bit of a headache. And I don't consider myself terribly sensitive to scents, I mean I paint my nails in the car with the windows up after all and it's never given me a headache. But today in the office Candy L'eau is doing just that. I'd say feel free to bathe in it when it's summer or you're outdoors, but be weary during winter or in office spaces. It's a lovely scent either way! I definitely prefer it on my skin over the original Candy. I bought the Candy Kiss sized bottle (20ml I believe) and I may find myself upgrading to a larger size in the near future!

Once again, this was a scent I just adored years ago but when I started to really learn about fragrances, I thought I could explore and find something I love better. Finally I've cracked and bought myself a 50ml bottle on eBay, and I'm so glad I did. I just adore this scent, and I think part of the reason I love it is nostalgia. I wore this scent during so many good memories. This was my first ever blind buy, after seeing the fantastic ads directed by Wes Anderson. I wanted to have the vibes and energy Lea Seydoux had in those commercials. Advertising really is so powerful. And I think those mini movies do more or less capture the energy of this scent. Sweet, flirty, and polished without trying too hard. Less in your face than the OG candy. Still quite sweet but curbed by the addition of citrus and removal of vanilla, in my opinion. The sweet pea takes it in a more girlish direction than Candy. Overall it smells kind of lipstick-y. I'd compare it to Kenzo Flower that way, but I enjoy Candy L'eau much more. No hint of anything indolic and a smaller amount of notes keep the lipstick quality of this scent more approachable. The dry down is my favorite part. I now understand what people mean when they say a rollerball takes a scent straight to the dry down. I originally bought this as a rollerball and now that I have a spray bottle, the opening is totally different. Still lovely, but when it settles down I just adore it. I'm generally a fan of scents with smaller pyramids. I think a handful of notes just settles better on my skin than more complex scents, and I find them to be more playful and versatile. I think this scent is a great example of that. I have to agree that the sillage and projection are not fantastic. It becomes a skin scent after a while and I can smell it for a few hours. I smell it on my clothes for much longer. For me, that's something I'm okay with because this scent makes me so happy. It is not the most unique scent in the world, it is not especially inventive, it's just very pretty and simple in the perfect way for my tastes. I haven't been able to find a good dupe for this. I'm gonna give up trying to find one and just stick to buying this. I wish it hadn't ever been discontinued.

Candy L'Eau probably is more "Candy" than the original perfume, and more floral than "Florale." Actually this is the most pitch perfect "Flowers and Candy" perfume I've ever smelled. Perfectly tuned for 21st century tastes, where anything less would equal donning a men's perfume, or worse, your Grandmother's. I read the copy of Candy Florale, and I think that the text is more appropriate here. I smell very little of the powdery benzoin that was present throughout the original, rather it remind me of fresh, melty candy made that day in a candy shop (reminds me of Nagel's Candy Barn in New Jersey) caramels, whips, nougats, and creamy chocolates. Maybe it really is a candy and flower shop, or it is summer and right outside you can smell wild sweet pea vines and white flowers and musky wild flowers. Practically speaking there is a long lasting citrus topnote, candy and flowers in the heart, and patchouli and vanilla and a hint of musk in the base. Like most Prada perfumes, wears softly and lasts almost 8 hours on me. This perfume does not smell synthetic and screechy to me, or overly sweet, or like shampoo. Even an old school gal like myself needs a perfume like this on her shelf. I love the color of the juice and the bottle design, too, that doesn't hurt. I think this is the best "Candy" out of the 3 and it's certainly my favorite. Great job Prada:) EDIT: I have been wearing this alot, and I am starting to notice the benzoin note, however, it is mostly as it dries down in to the base, and it is blended, not a main base like in the original Candy.

I could not stop grinning after I first tried on this perfume. I love this scent! I did not care for the original Prada Candy at all - it was far too cloyingly sweet and made me a bit queasy. L'Eau is everything I want in a scent called "Candy". Whereas I feel like "Prada Caramel" would have been more appropriate for the original Prada Candy, Prada Candy L'Eau smells much more like a sweet shop to me. When my boyfriend smelled it, he said I smelled like Sour Patch Kids. This fragrance is light, sweet, and has a sort of fizzy vibe to it. It has the essence of Pink Sugar without the strong licorice notes but also has a subtle but effective blend of floral, citrus, and fruit to balance the sticky sweetness. When I smell it at any stage on me, I don't necessarily think "caramel" or "sweet pea" or anything specific - it's more of just a lovely, general sugary sweet but subtly fresh smell. It's definitely a gourmand, but in my opinion it manages to be far classier and elegant than the other of its type on the market. I wore Pink Sugar in high school and some of college but find it way too sharp, cloying, and youthful for me now. Prada Candy L'Eau is a lovely way for me to capture the essence of that sugary sweet candy scent I used to love, but in a more subtle, refined, and sophisticated (well, as much as any sugar candy scent could be). It's whimsical and playful without automatically being immature and unrefined.

I met Candy L`eau around a half a year ago, at the airport, coming back from a trip. I sprayed it on me without expecting to like or even love it, as I had tried the original Candy before and it did not attract me really. I found her sister to be quite different. Caramel, yes, sweet (just as I like my perfumes to be), yes, but there was something more, something light, bubbly and happy, citrusy, something ladylike and pretty. However, I had already bought some other perfumes, so I just considered it being a good investment in the future, and forgot about it. So I met my Candy L`eau again just recently. And now I truly fell in love. Maybe its the craving for something gourmand and comforting during this cold winter time (even though it is considered as a spring-summer perfume), I do not know, but this time it was contageous. So now I am sitting here, smelling my coat which still has Candy L`eau on it (so the longevity is not that bad, it also stayed for quite a while on my skin, closer to the skin at the end, but so tempting that I sniffed my wrist every 20 minutes), checking every now and then, whether my package has been dispatched, as I cannot live without it. I instantly ordered the 80ml bottle with the body lotion as a gift for myself on my birthday. It could easily become my new signature scent.

Today I've tried this perfume for a third time since I haven't been able to wrap my head around it. The final verdict is that it indeed goes through three very distinct stages, the first one lasting about fifteen to twenty minutes and being quite strong, "fresh" and a bit off-putting in my opinion. The first time I tried it I didn't give it enough time and dismissed the perfume completely due to this stage. The second stage is soooo lovely though! Here it becomes quite similar to Prada Candy Kiss - soft, sweet, just a bit more fresh, citrusy and very pleasant. It is quite close to skin and when the perfume was at this stage I walked my wrist constantly by my nose. About five to six hours after the application the fragrance has developed into its final stage, in which there is almost only caramel to be detected and it gets a touch very similar to Bonbon but not nearly as heavy. Overall I have to admit that those less pleasant minutes at the opening are worth it because overall, I love it. A this very moment I have worn it for eight hours and it is still there without slightest doubt, while Prada Candy Kiss gives me tops five hours. This one will clearly go on my wishlist to Santa this year!! :)

I’ve ignored this candy in favor of kiss and Florale so long. It’s a really subtle soft sweet. The citrus isn’t too apparent, and it has a soft subtle lipsticky like floral quality. I’m someone who’s in love with powdery florals. I haven’t had an every day scent in such a long time but I think this simple formulation is so hard to tire of. I don’t see anything that I can agree with in the negative reviews (not negative. It’s more hat I don’t smell overly sweet, too much citrus, pencil shavings..) but that’s just me. Usually I can understand why people smell what they do but the idea of it coming off as sickly or highly citric really surprise me. It’s a nice soft delicate sweet mild powder without being too dry, serious, or anything of the sort. I have strong florals paired with powder like tuberose as well as more heavily powdered fragrances but this is simply the most gentle fragrance I’ve found so far. I doubly enjoy it’s faint Forman’s edge as I’m someone who likes gourmand influence without coming across as edible.

Prada Candy and Prada Candy L'eau, for me, is like stepping into a time machine. Though I'd have to say that it's no ordinary one! It takes me to two different places at once where my fragrance persona's duality fulfill gratification. Both exude ELEGANCE in maturity without spurning its child like PLAYFULNESS. With every note Candy plays, my soul is whisked away to inhabit distant memories...the sight, touch, and smell...all very real!!! Vividly, I feel the sun's glorious warmth through the colourful glow of stained glass windows adorning old churches and smell the melancholic atmosphere of antique dust and faint incense interlaced with the delicate trail of church ladies' perfumes. I love the impression it evokes as Benzoin, like an unrepenting inamorata, reigns the heart of Candy's trinity! ENIGMATIC...it resonates with the wearer in a deeply personal fashion. The one I've always been searching for...my signature!!!

I got a sample of this yesterday and I thought...."mmmmm, I so like this refreshing new twist on Candy (which I didn't care for) It's more subtle than its sister, more nuances and dimensional w/o that weird dissonant dry down!" Enter my 10 year old daughter coming home from school 4 hours later. Holding my wrist up I asked her if she likes it. (Our noses are so different. She really loves Coach Poppy!). Anyway, I thought, this ought to be interesting. "This smells like Nonny (my mother)!" She says, taking another big inhalation of my wrist. "Exactly!" Oh no! I smell my wrist again! My first impression from the top & mid-notes has evolved into: Coco Mademoiselle? More astonishing? She's right!! So, maybe I'll get this when my huge bottle of Coco M runs out. I really love the top & mid notes of Prada Candy L'Eau Prada better than Coco M. Which to my nose is pretty linear.

Sweet and delicious. While I like the original Candy, I found that there was something about it that smelled a bit off to my nose, which prevented me from loving it. However, this flanker, while you can still tell it's from the Candy family, smells just a bit fresher, just a bit floral (from the citrus and sweet pea, I assume) that makes it so easy to love. The longevity is good, I can still smell it on my wrist hours later, however the sillage is quite soft, as it turns into a skin scent quickly. It does layer gorgeously with my vanilla-scented lotions as well as my citrus-scented ones though. Overall, it's just a nice, sweet, uncomplicated girly scent. I can easily say that this is a scent for all year round. I tend to lean towards this more during the daytime, as I find it just a bit too playful and bright for the night.

I am a HUGE fan of the original Prada Candy but just think that its longevity leaves something to be desired. I was SO EXCITED when this came out because I thought it might have more stay power and be very similar. I received a free sample, but, UNFORTUNATELY, I really do not see where they smell that much alike. It is much more citrus and floral than the original Candy. It starts off smelling florally sweet, but develops on the skin into a sweet citrus, but more citrus than sweet. This is why I cannot understand why so many people say they are so similar, because Candy was much more caramel with no citrus to be found. Unfortunately the longevity is not very good either. I really expected better out of a Prada brand. Its a nice sent, but it does not last long enough to justify spending the money on it.

Something about the candied sweet pea in this initially reminds me of the candied, musky flowers in Flowerbomb. But there the comparisons end as this is a light, summery EDT. I wish there were an EDP version as well since, to me, L'Eau has the brightness and variation that the original Candy is missing. It's the refreshing, perky version of Candy, the Spring/Summer antidote to its Fall/Winter, hermit-like coziness. L'Eau still has plenty enough caramel and musk to continue on the Candy tradition but it infuses a spark into the familiar notes. It's true that it has less projection than Candy, but it *is* an EDT after all, and this quality makes it much easier to wear in hot, sultry environments. I get 10+ hours of longevity.

After seeing that Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola made a series of beautifully filmed Prada Candy commercials, and finding that so odd and intriguing that I simply had to watch them, I became curious about this fragrance, so I bought a small dabber on eBay, along with samples of the other Prada Candy fragrances just to compare. I am obsessed with this now and very sad because it's discontinued. I wish they'd bring it back, it's my favorite of the Candies! I feel like you can wear this anytime, day or night, and it's just so feminine and sweet without being too "little-girl" like.

Ooooh that first spray! Musky, floral, sweet cloudy marshmallow notes... I really need this. Absolutely different from the other Prada Candy. I wouldn’t have guessed there was caramel here. More like sugar when melted to make caramel or cotton candy. All the notes are enveloped of a cloud of musk with sweet notes. Disappointed by the dry-down and longevity though, however I enjoyed layering it with other perfumes, worked well with Elie Saab, MFK or Narciso Rodriguez perfumes. _____ Projection, sillage, longevity : 6/10 Originality, presentation : 8/10 Quality, value : 7/10 7/10

It's been quite a while since sniffing fragrances has made me go wide eyed. And for such a long time I have wanted to indulge my guilty pleasure. One whiff of Prada Candy L'eau is like being in "candy heaven". A strong réminiscence of the very first time being in a patisserie and leaving with a taste of salted caramel in my mouth and the scent of pastries on my hair. Prada Candy L'eau is pure fun!!! Dedicated to sophisticated ladies who let PLAYFULNESS rule her style. Sweet but not sickly. DELICIOUS...positively SINFUL...A lovely treat to self!!!

sophisticated but sweet. soft and sugary but not subtle. prada candy l'eau is SUCH a charming fragrance. love bought it for me two christmases ago and whenever I spray it he always comments on how yummy it smells! the opening is citrusy but not in a clean way, more in line with a jelly tart or candied lemon/lime. once that leaves it definitely carries a caramel scent, but I would say its lesser than the original and more of a background player to the powdery sweet pea and musk. its innocent but memorable. i'm in love :)

It smells really sophisticated and makes me feel much more confident and a bit more flirty. I smell all good and tasty and I always want to be able to smell it during the day. I was a bit afraid at first that I might get a headache from too much sweetness or the caramel, but actually this was a very great surprise - it is gentle, balsamic, vanilla pretty as in a soft pastel cake just like the design of the bottle suggests (as opposed to the original composition which I think is a more heavy and more aggressive).

The rumours are true - this beauty is being discontinued, as confirmed by a Prada rep. Sephora & Shoppers Drug Mart alike both no longer have this available to order. Just bought a back-up bottle in store, and whatever is left in stores is the last of it. Out of my vast collection, I so often come back to this one, and get continuous compliments on it. It's sweet, fresh, divine, and one of my favourites. If you love this, get it before it's gone for good. I now have two full bottles, and will use it sparingly!

I bought this after receiving a sample. I love love love it. They have a rollerball that is perfect for your purse. It comes with a very chic holder so it does not come open and rollerball the inside of your purse. Of course they sell the rollerball since it does not last more than a few hours and you will need it for touch ups. This smells different than the original Candy. I think it is more complex and deeper. I sometimes sleep in it because it is gone by morning and I can fall asleep in candy bliss.

Told myself after finishing up my last bottle that I didn't need to by another bottle only for liking the original slightly better. Yet low & behold the sweeter brighter flirtier candy sister won my heart over again && ended up snagging a 2.7oz bottle on eBay for 40 bucks! Guess I can't resist having that pale fleshy pink prada bottle sitting on my shelf, the scent's a deff. plus too haa! welcome back to he family L'eau <3 ;D *Guess the summer made me do it* ;P
