Blue Agave

The smell after talking a long, relaxing shower at some bougie beachside hotel. Opens up with a mouthwatering, and ultra fresh lime, sea salt, and sage opening. Intensely fresh, clean, and easy to wear. As it dries down the salt takes center stage with help from the addition of green, herbaceous, and slightly musky agave leaves + the remainder of the lime + sage opening. In the deep dry down there’s a slight woody backbone, but nothing super special, just gives it legs. A very very good blue fragrance. Take that bright citric, clean, green almost boozy opening of Tommy Bahamas “Saint Barts” and amp it up x10. While not something super innovative or niche, what it does: it does really damn well. A great dumb reach for the summer, but it has legs to cut through the cold if you give it a couple extra blasts. Will most likely be picking this up come this summer. Very traditionally masculine, but wear what you want. Great performance on my skin of 12+ hours, with strong projection for the first 3.5 (bear in mind this was in the cold) 9.2/10. Signature scent worthy. Song vibe - Wasurerarenai no by sakanaction TLDR - A very solid blue/fresh fragrance that’s really hard to actively dislike, AND has some real powerful performance behind it. Lime + sage + sea salt freshness + a twinge of green agave all come together to form this albeit simple, but reliably refreshing blue fragrance.

I received the most awkward compliment wearing Blue Agave (the updated formulation). I walked into Staples to get something printed. Right after I walked by the counter the cashier says to the woman she is helping that she smelled really good. That makes the woman at the counter so happy and they talk about it for a minute. Soon after, another woman walks in and stops at the printer next to me and says, “you smell really amazing! What cologne is that?” I answered. All of this happening where everyone can hear. The first two ladies realize the smell was coming from me and not the first woman. This is a fresh and clean salty aquatic scent with a little soapy and booziness (the agave is making me think this). I am not usually a fan of blue aquatic scents. I think they smell too artificial and annoying, but Blue Agave uses high quality and smooth ingredients. This is another amazing versatile summer scent from Precious Liquid.

Smells A LOT like bleu de chanel only a billion times nicer. What a masterpiece. Why is this rated so low? What the hell is wrong with you people? Really. ADD: After wearing it for a little while, I still love it to death, but it doesn't really have a lot in common with BDC other than being a freshie. It is one of the most citrus forward fragrances I've ever tried, like Bohemian Lime, but with more lemony or nondescript citrus than lime. There is background woods and greens adding depth and complexity and balance. It is expensive, but the quality is undeniable if you really examine it. If you have the cash you should try it out, or at least sample it if you're considering it. Every time I buy a bottle from Precious liquid, they send me 15 samples from their collection including this, so if you're considering getting anything else (Salt & Pepper is a masterpiece) you should receive a sample.

Just received the sample today and at first it smelled a bit weird on my skin. I was dumbfounded. Then sprayed it on my wife and it was amaaaaaaazing on her. Then on the dry down on my skin, I get a Hawaii fresh oceanic vibe. It smells complex with nuance. This stuff is GOOD!! I just write a review and gave Tommy Tropics a thumb up. Now sprayed this Blue Agave side by side with Tropics, the difference is obvious. Blue Agave has a lot more going on liken a beautiful car that also has a luxurious interior. While Tropic is nice but doesn't have much behind it. Wow, this is good! I keep wanting to sniff my arm for Blue Agave and literally don't want to smell Tropics anymore.

Delightful! The scent evokes some sort of childhood nostalgia for me, kind of reminds me of the type of laundry detergent my aunt would use in Turkey, take that smell and wear those fresh clothes on a hot day out and that is the vibe here. The performance is real good, projects like a beast and lasts a GOOD while, especially for a freshie. It is quite expensive and if you're ordering from abroad you now need to pay import tax on it which also adds to the delivery price on top of the already high price of the product. Is it worth it? In my opinion yes but keep in mind that you are looking at about +£80 to the price listed on the website to purchase it outside of the US.

One of my fondest memories of late is vacationing in Hawaii(pre-covid). The blue ocean, salty warm air is reminiscent of paradise on earth. This fragrance is that memory in a bottle. The scent itself evokes an oceanic background, familiar but more modern, and it becomes sweeter as it dry’s down. It is difficult to have a summer scent last this long but Richard is a master perfumer(the nose behind Oud Wood) and displays his skill here. I would say it leans masculine and casual. Whether or not the sun is shining, this scent will bring a smile to your face. The new bottles and new frags are not yet on Fragrantica but this is a Very underrated house and scent. 4.25/5

The main key id say is to let the perfume sit and develop, I received a sample and it smelled amazing like you’re in Mexico near a beach and the salt air hits you hard it’s very masculine as well and not the same as a blue gel or Blue fragrance. I recently bought their 75ML and I get the reviews saying it’s not special or smells like something else or something chemical wise, so now I’m just letting it sit and develop to see if I can get it to the smell of their sample that I received! (Bought brand new)

This really makes me think it's the niche version of Tommy Bahama. More intense, you get the salt, tequila, and agave. In no way is that bad, the performance is great 6-8 hrs. This is what you want on during a summer getaway.

Smells familiar in a way I can't pinpoint. It's a great smelling blue. I find it fresh, sophisticated and rich. Gets me compliments whenever I wear it so people around me enjoy it too.

I’m still developing a relationship with this scent, but I’ve worn it out a couple times and it hasn’t really impressed me in any way. I had a sample of salt&pepper and my gf and I both liked it on me so I blind bought a bottle of blue agave “limited collection” EDP, mostly because of rave reviews and i was looking for a good niche summer scent. I have to say, to me it smells like an aquatic version of salt and pepper. I definitely pick out similarities between the two. If I had to describe the scent to someone I’d say it’s kind of like Irish spring soap mixed with sea salt and a bit of Aqua Di Gio freshness. Or if you’ve smelled Chanel’s Platinum Egoiste, it’s like an aquatic version of that. I haven’t received any compliments wearing this out which was disappointing. I get more attention from women with cheaper frags such as Mont BIanc Explorer or La Nuit D’Lhomme, so if that’s your goal this ain’t worth the pricetag. Overall, it is a nice masculine aquatic mixed with green soapiness and salt. It’s not bad, but I don’t find it mysterious or sexy in any way. Just smells like a guy in his 30s-40s who showered and threw something on. I’m 35 and I’ll definitely wear it and enjoy the smell, but as far as compliments go, I don’t see this turning any heads. I can’t say anything bad about the fragrance except that it’s way overpriced. 7/10

I picked up this Precious Liquids sample kit because I wanted to sample Rose Blanc and because it was a good deal. You get 5 samples for a flat rate of $5. I should hate this perfume because I'm not a fan of marine scents, but I like this one quite a bit, not for me but for my husband. This is a marine scent to be sure, but it is done right. There is a subtle sweetness in this fragrance. Could it be from the agave? It looks like aloe in the pictures and has an aloe type of smell, which is kind of sweet in a green way. I really like the lime, it isn't overdone, lime can take over everything if allowed to. The driftwood, sage and bay leaf are so nice in the dry down, and gives this perfume a slight woody, slight fresh spicy and herbal quality to the fragrance that makes this so much more interesting than most marine fragrances. It still keeps its marine character but has added depth that most of those fragrances lack. This is a real winner. I liked everything I sampled from this brand. And I would say this brand's hallmark is contemporary chic. I'm impressed.

Very pleasant aquatic DNA that does not do much to separate itself from others. Opens with a fresh sea breeze vibe that is superb for summer time. This is super close to the Acqua Di Gio DNA and its myriad of flankers. So although this is very pleasant, it is super familiar and doesn’t add anything different. I get water, sage and woods with a pinch of saltiness in the background. Projection and longevity are average. Certainly masculine...as I mentioned, familiar to Acqua Di Gio. Price point is high vs. others in this genre. Overall, it’s nice. I like it a lot. I have many others that do the same thing for less, or do it longer and louder.

I'm not one to gender fragrances, especially since one of my favorites to wear is Pierre Cardin for men, but while I think this smells wonderful, it is just too overtly masculine for me. I just would not feel comfortable wearing this anywhere, but I would love to smell it on a guy. A pity because it really is a beautifully blended aquatic, which unlike many in this genre, actually has some meat on the bones. I'll be passing this one on to my nephew. I know it will smell better on him than it does on me.

Reviewing the double concentration limited release. Richard herpins blue bases are all really heavy. I like the agave notes, the saltiness and lime. But after your tops are gone you are left with a marine heavy ambroxan calone base. Be aware when buying his “blue” fragrances. And of the 3 blue releases, the only one with a drydown that stands apart from blue agave and sal and pepper, is turquoise water, with that coconut/honeysuckle note that lasts with all the aquatics.

Its a very mass appealing blue fragrance w lots of sea notes. However, it projects like crazy and within the first hour I got a compliment. It has a similar scent profile to aqua oud and salt & pepper, but the difference is that blue agave has the most sea notes, aqua oud has a touch more pepper notes, then salt & pepper is loaded w peppers. I personally prefer salt & pepper most bc its more unique however blue agave is the most versatile of the 3.

There is a salty citrus aquatic opening here that reminds me of something like Bvlgari Aqua or a less punch you in the face version of Light Blue Eau Intense. I think this is a strong reach for the summer that you would do a midday refresh spray if you want to keep it going all day. I'm not even sure of the price of this right now as mine came from the sample set you can get from the website right now for free and just pay shipping.

We are on a stroll down an old pier that juts out far into the ocean. The wind is light and the salt spray is visible. One of us has a margarita and the other a mojito. We bask in the sun and forget the day.

This one is very fresh and great for hot weather. I passed it on to my boyfriend as it's too masculine for me, and he likes it a lot. It reminds me of acqua di gio but I think I prefer this

A good everyday fragrance for cooler weather. It is a unisex fragrance but I feel that it leans more towards the feminine side.I like it.

A stronger, saltier version of Tommy Bahama St. Barts. Personally, I prefer St. Barts.

Review based on a Precious Liquid free sample. I'm not impressed by Blue Agave. The opening gives me a similar vibe to Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette Intense. That quickly disappears and I'm left with something like the dry down of Azzaro Chrome Extreme. Initial projection is pretty good but it evolves into a skin scent after about 4 hours. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice scent for summer. However, given the price of a full bottle, I'd rather just go with Chrome Extreme or the Kenzo or any number of similar but more reasonably priced blue fragrances.

Atomic Chrome. If you want your Chrome to strip paint this will do. I was shocked at the disparity between this and the other house samples in the set. This is a linear scent that is more in line with Paco Rabanne than Herpin. It smells good but you expect some nuance, and possibly even the smell of agave, at this perfume range.

Smells like glorified radox or similar branded shower gel 😅 not bad by any means but I was expecting more od a tequila smelling profile and this is just abit uninspiring. That's my opinion though I'm sure it could be perfect for some.

Very familiar and standard profile. A toned down Inis Energy of the Sea, or ADG. Mass appealing oceanic smell. Does not have the dryer sheet or strong lime that TB St Barts has.

It smells good but not unique. Just another men's aquatic, bracing with salt and sea. With a name like Blue Agave, I was hoping for something MORE.

Smells like a brand new porta potty. Cant say iv ever had the pleasure but this is what I'd imagine it to smell like without the fecal matter.

Not my cup of tea, if your looking for a toxic masculine fragrance this is it, smells like an Old Spice shampoo or like an AXE deodorant. Overpriced and synthetic smell overall, then after a few minutes I detected the note of “calone” which I don’t like, or probably is the salt that’s smells similar, though is not listed I can detected beacause on my skin goes like watermelon-ish. To me does not smell similar to Azzaro Chrome, more like a supermarket deodorant.

Not for me. That’s all Ill say I’m self aware enough to realize that people’s taste differ but to me this just smells like wet grass. Quite possibly one of the worst fragrances I’ve smelled in a long time. 3/10

Smells like a cheap, young clubbing, blue fragrance. Smells like pool water but with a mix of Smirnoff. This smells like something Ashton Kutcher wore on the set of Punk'd in 2003

Extremely herb heavy fragrance with agave in the back and definitely a dry down of any drugstore cologne. This is masculine leaning and even at that it just smells cheap.

The notes are indistinguishable. Doesn’t smell like anything but a jumble. Synthetic. There are better “agave” smells.

Animalic, Marine, Salty and Driftwood. That's it. 👎 This is not my type and not my favorite 🤦🏻♂️

Synthetic generic overpriced blue Fragrance. I honestly feel like I can grab this at Walmart or a cvs. Amber suede and oud symphony are the best from the along side with majority of their feminine fragrances

You might as well call this fragrance I’m Stealing Money From Everyone With Clout by Overpriced Liquids.

This scent smells good but its only a little better in terms of Uniqueness. The Agave note is great. And while I know its hard to have a blue scent last all day, this lasts me 3 hours and I am no Justin Copeland who can rationalize 3 hours being enough. A trip to the grocery store and this scent wouldn't last. To be honest, I've bathed in this scent took my dogs out for a last min potty break for just 15 min then jumped in my car and went to the grocery store. The folks in the grocery know I love my scents so they are quick to sniff me and see my SOTD. With this one, my favorite checker was like ' you forgot to wear one of your fancy scents today. Hadn't been even a full hour. I was glad that at base line I smell decent but definitely no added umph. Sadly lack of longevity, at least for me, is problematic with this line. Since I own it i have found happiness in layering it with other complimentary type of scents. I layer this scent with LV Pacific Chill or Bohemian Lime and it not only adds a different component but boosts longevity. Out of their entire line this probably ranked #3. There are just better houses out there in terms of both unique composition and longevity. 3.9/ overall

Blue Agave actually smells like warm ocean air and aged wood on the dry down and evokes an image throughout: a sunrise walk along green dunes and an old pier as the tide rolls in. This is like if Acqua di Gio was made from higher-quality ingredients without the synthetic, metallic presence of calone. My dad wore AdG throughout my childhood so I can’t disassociate this type of marine scent from him... I couldn’t bear it on my partner, for example (he also prefers spicy or woody scents to marines). However I do think this is much better done, and it is much less SHARP and post-shower/minty/cold than typical “blue” marine fragrances. If you like marine aromatics, this will bring you joy.

Not your typical aquatic, which is a good thing. There’s incense in here, tequila vibe with the agave, slight gin characteristic. It’s salty, spicey, blue - yet rich, slightly boozy and almost smokey from the driftwood. It’s a fresh masterpiece. This is like Gentle Fluidity Silver by MFK and Aqua Di Gio Profumo had a cool, millionaire cousin that lives in a spanish villa that sips on cocktails and cigars but is also a very serious person. 8-9 hours of performance, great silage. This is the shit. Get yourself a sample or full size bottle.

What I feel is the secret sauce behind this scent's allure to me is how reserved and subdued it is. I anticipated something completely different based on the accords. It's a quintessential summer scent for someone interested in a breeze-esque effect, where you're gently sniffing a light driftwood paired with a salty, and almost sweet agave. It all comes together to create a summer breeze on the beach feel, with a glass of some tequila-based cocktail. Never does it become overpowering or in your face. Wonderful!

Sampled and it reminds me alot of Issey Miyake pour homme Vetiver. This one feels more natural is a bit earthier and green from the agave, and the lime is subtle but there. Watery note with Sage holding it all together. Price aside I like this a lot I think in really hot weather this will shine. Light scent If I could trade it for the Issey Miyake I would., Too pricey for me tho.

Nice and fresh from the top and should be very nice in hot weather. Blind bought so based on the tester that came with it. Not entirely sure I'd get good wear out of the full bottle eve though it does seem like a very versatile fragrance so letting go of the bottle. A very herbaceous and asftershavey sort of scent profile that leans extremely masculine. Has a touch of some salted citrus in there with heavy doses of sage. I find it to have that “perfumey” undertone to it that makes it lose points for me but otherwise an okay aquatic and freshly green scent

Smells like one those designer fragrances from the 90s. A mix of Azzaro Chrome, Emporio Armani Lui, Platinum Egoiste, Acqua di Gio, etc. Very inoffensive but not very niche. Nevermind, now I know what this is very similar to: EROLFA, this is a mix of Erolfa and Chrome.

I have a dry down test strip that was sent to me as a sample. it's been sitting on my desk for weeks, if not months and I can still smell it which is very impressive considering the category. What I can smell is an ocean styled hand soap. It's very nice

Initial spray had me feel as if It was a cheap super-blue designer fragrance. Perhaps the reviewers online are so niched out that something this basic seems amazing? I may change this after it dries down, but im not impressed at all.

Absolute calone bomb I could not scrub off my skin. Absolutely hate it as I do with everything calone filled. Love the other scents from this company so I'd just say don't blind buy
