Mandarine

The only fragrance that I had ever worn regularly in my youth (early 20’s) was Prescriptive's Calyx- my memories of wearing that fragrance- are that it was a fresh citrusy unisex musk. I had taken a very, very long break (over 20 years) from any kind of fragrance and decided to revisit Clinique’s re-release of Calyx and my nose was horrified, not sure if the perfume itself had changed, my nose had changed or if every memory I had of my 20’s was false, but this was certainly not the fragrance that I remember wearing as my signature scent for a handful of years.... Fast forward to current times- I receive a sample of Precious Liquid Mandarine and I find myself transported to the scent I so clearly remember from the 90’s, THIS is what I remember Calyx smelling like- clean, classy, cool and chic. Can’t wait to add a bottle to my collection :)

This is a lovely, extremely realistic fresh clementine accented with tart-sweet rhubarb (I LOVE rhubarb as a fragrance note, it’s simply mouthwatering) and anchored by fuzzy, comfy musk. I often buy a little netted baggie of “Cuties” oranges and this smells just like them on initial spray. On the dry down, it becomes more ambery and woody, but still extremely tangy orange. This is the first fragrance—from the sampler set of this line, as well as in general—that truly seems “unisex” to me. I think it’s so cool. This is very different from what I usually wear but I can’t stop sniffing. Can’t wait to test in summer.

Received a sample of this fragrance and it is beautifully designed. That punch of mandarin definitely hits you in the beginning followed by a deeper earthy scent that in the dry down evolves to almost fresh flowers in my opinion. You will always get the mandarin scent and everything works great together for an amazing fragrance that any man or woman would be lucky to have. Be sure to overspray if you want others to smell you or want it to last much longer and trust me no one would complain. Overall a solid fragrance, but it is not my favorite. A well deserved 8 out of 10.

This is such a pleasant scent. Its one of those scents that puts you in a good mood. Nothing super challenging, super easy to like and incredibly well blended. Its soft and fuzzy, super realistic mandarine orange with some clean soapiness. If you are a fan of those minimalist scents this is a great citrus to add to your repertoire.

Idk why no one has compared this to afternoon swim! It’s it but way longer lasting and a bigger citrus burst. Perfect blend of rind and sweet notes of the orange. Love it! Wear this over afternoon swim or energizer.

Beautiful realistic mandarin orange, with an earthy feel that doesn't make it dirty but smooth. I highly recommend.

The opening is a ripe and fresh mandarin supported and lifted up by the rhubarb. It doesn't read as a rhubarb scent per se, it just helps give the mandarin a tart juiciness, without adding sweetness and making it smell artificial, or candy like. There is also a dose of petigrain here, capping off the very nice mandarin accord. Beyond that, a clean and slightly powdery musk and wood aroma chemical fixatives kick in that lend it some longevity and sillage. It's nice but the base is sort of a generic "cologne" smell that is fairly mundane. I've noticed Herpin using this base in some variation in other scents from the house..If I'm playing armchair perfumer, I personally would have considered adding some neroli, or even better, some natural vetiver oils. ----------------------------------------------------- Conclusion: this is a solid option for an orange dominant fragrance if you can find it for a fair price. But I think someone looking for an orange fragrance should also sample 19-69 Capri, Guerlain Mandarin Basilic, Atelier Orange Sanguine, Afternoon Swim, or ADP Arancia (original or newer flanker before making a decision. #1631 in my “Tour de Fragrance” Got this as a decant from scentsplit.com. It’s basically Prada “Infusion de Rhubarbe” or 4160 “Tuesdays “Rhubarb and Citrus” with an added myrrh note that makes this a freshie worth owning whereas I thought the Prada and 4160 Tuesdays were kind of nice but unremarkable. Good timing as we are in a warming phase of seventies and eighties and everyone’s in shorts and tank tops. This a good quality unisex fragrance. Versatile but pricey for a summertime freshie. I think men would be as happy if not prefer the more complex and less expensive Fragrance World “King” at $20 or Al Rehab “Zidan” at under $8 for a Rhubarb and Citrus scent. There are dozens upon dozens of rhubarb women’s scents for less than half what this goes for like Korloff Paris “Miss Korloff.” If the expense is not an issue this is a great scent. And if paying double is not an issue, I think a better women’s summertime scent, actually more beachwear with a rhubarb note is Chopard “Gardenia.” For myself, when my bottle of Al Rehab “Zidan” is expended I will replace it with this “Mandarine." Juicy burst of mandarin with neroli and clean musk. Smells great for about 1 hour then starts to settle into a softer clean musk with subtle citrus nuances that just barely hovers off the skin. Smells like a luxury shower product. I feel it’s unisex leaning feminine, but I’ve asked a couple women their thoughts; they liked it but said it smelled masculine. Overall I’d say if you like citrus/neroli/musk, this is a nice scent for situations where you want to smell lightly fresh and clean without your fragrance being obnoxious and offending others. This is a personal fragrance that is unlikely to be smelled by those around you after the first hour or so. For me it’s a bit overpriced for the lackluster performance.

Not what I thought it would be. But great. This is a unisex musk. The name suggests strong citrus aquatic, I was expecting mandarin, aldehydes, pamplemousse, alot of ambroxan and calone. Instead I’m gifted with a soft musk complimented by citrus. The opening is a nice orange with sweet musks, and as the orange fades, the rhubarb comes in to give a bit of citrus backbone. Pretty linear, but not in any bad way. It’s like a light cloud of musk complimented by citrus. Very nice unisex perfumery. I’d wear this for sure, but I’d also gift it to a lady friend. Priced at 125 for 50ml, it’s fair, but I’d like it to either project better or last longer. This layers perfectly with chance eau tendre.

Similar ozonic, aquatic base as Salt & Pepper. Citrus is mature, not bright and fresh. More rounded fruit scent than just mandarin, maybe from the rhubarb. Slight cedar spice. Clean musk underneath it all. Mandarine is a very pleasant, mellow, relaxed scent. Highly versatile with a more personal scent bubble.

A pleasant and authentic orange scent. The opening is almost identical to the smell of my fingers after peeling an orange. Unfortunately it turns into a skin scent on me within an hour. The dry down is clean, soapy, and orange.

It's a linear, fresh, and very natural scent. I think this could be worn by anybody. Mandarin with some added tartness from the rhubarb

Mandarine—Precious Liquid—definitely fruity but neither tart nor sweet—kind of just fresh and orangy. Pleasant but not that special. If you do really want a linear orange citrus with the nice hints of rhubarb, then by all means try. It’s not hard on the nose. But it doesn't travel far from your wrist, be warned... For my money, for a very fresh but definitely fruity choice, it's D&G 3 L'Imperatrice!

This is a nice fragrance but my least favorite of the bunch. It is pretty linear. A musky mandarin fragrance. It also is a bit weak in performance. It's nice if you want an easy summer perfume that is a musky mandarin w/ a slight woody finish. More of a cologne than a perfume.

The scent smells really good. The sad thing is on my skin it doesn't last more than an hour. The performance is very very lacking. Especially for the price. I couldn't see myself spending no more than $60.

Mandarine has a beautiful sparkling opening, but no sharp edges sometimes associated with citrus. This is a natural sweetness like you might get from a mandarin orange, but nothing sugary about it., just all natural and fresh. After about 15 minutes, the initial burst of citrus settles in and marries with the tartness of the rhubarb note to create a unique combination. I don’t pick up the base notes specifically, but together they all form a base that anchors the scent and keeps it going. It retains a freshness about it throughout the dry down. This is more of a skin scent on me, but I still get a good 2 hours where it’s readily detectable, and am happy to respray as needed to catch of whiff of that gorgeous opening again! This is a great scent for any occasion, but seems to fit better in the daytime/summer category. I don’t care too much about those categories and just wear whatever makes me happy – and Mandarine definitely does that!

I don’t always reach for a citrus fragrance. It depends on my mood. I wasn’t in the mood but I had this sample, tried it and I love it! Super tart opening is mellowing out a bit after half an hour, I’m realllyyyyy smelling the yummy musks and myrrh. It is a bit linear. I feel like the supporting notes are almost better than the mandarin. Overall very nice though. Might see if there is a small bottle for purchase

This smells like burnt hair and some sort of strange citrus hair spray. This must’ve been what Carmine Lupertazzi smelt before he passed on The Sopranos. It’s smells really weird. I think this perfumers only solid creation is Oud Wood.

smells very familiar to something but i cant put my finger on it. but anyway it’s the best citrus scent iv smelled. Perfect amount of rindyness in the orange and has pleasant green notes with a hint of cedar in the base
