Salt & Pepper

Alright, someone's gotta be held responsible for the audacious gatekeeping of maybe the best fragrance that exists. Before I get into the heart of this thing, I can not believe how broken some of you people's noses must be to not understand how out of control incredibly amazing this juice is right here. I have been doing this for a long time. I'm not a noob, and I'm sure as hell no shill, and I have smelled virtually every popular designer scent you could name or some flanker of them as well as many many niche fragrances. I'm here to tell you right now, if you put off testing this stuff and don't believe what I'm telling you, you will regret it in an insane way later on. Dramatic? Bet your ass, because I have straight up wasted my time and money on fresh scents and all manner of hyped things that turned out seeming generic and fell flat in the end. Yes, this stuff is expensive, but if your goal is to get the best there is and save money by taking a short cut in your interminable trial and error, just give this grey juice a sniff. It performs as well as anyone could possibly want it to also. It's detectable from great distance, leaves a phenomenal sillage, and is very durable and lasts so long I'm flat out astonished. It will project for 8 hours on my skin, and I can't think of many fragrances that I actually enjoy in the slightest that will do that. People who say they can't smell it need to either get a second opinion to see if they got a bunk batch or something, or they need medical attention. Seriously. There are a few things I can compare it to, and it is going to sound completely stupid. To me, this stuff smells EXACTLY like what Aventus was trying to be mixed with what Acqua di Gio dreams every night of becoming. It is surprisingly citrus forward even as it dries down, but in a dark and masculine, sort of musky way, the way people describe Aventus's musk as smoky sometimes, only so much higher quality that you just have to try it to understand. When you catch a whiff of it, it isn't blatantly apparent, but the citrus, greens, and musks used are as important to the composition as the pepper that everyone is talking about. It definitely leans more toward the ADG side of things overall with the pepper, but it is so much better that I feel bad even comparing it. If you want the closest possible picture of the scent profile via a(n overly simplistic) comparison to something you have probably smelled, Acqua di Gio Profumo or Parfum is definitely it, but again, this is like comparing a cartoon of a pretty lady to staring into the eyes of the love of your life. The people saying the word sauvage must be 19 years old and didn't spend their lives smelling ADG every damn day 😂 because this has virtually nothing in common with sauvage in the actual smelling. Its characteristics overall (not that it smells even very similar) could be compared with Kalan, in that it is slightly on the dry, peppery, fresh side of things, but not at all to the point of Kalan where you might want to cough. Makes sense, because women seem to really like Kalan even though men don't as much, similar to S&P. Kalan might be a little insane, especially in the opening, but the deeper drydown and sillage at times are to freaking die for. Like, best on earth. Great bang per buck too with its strong performance. That's one to try if you want a nice unique one that is slept on like crazy and has a dry peppery but slightly citrusy profile to it. I will expand on all of this at a later time, but believe me when I tell you (I'm looking at you, people buying niche fragrances for 250-350 a bottle retail and things like Aventus 😭 what a tragedy) this stuff is not prohibitively expensive for what it is if you get the 40 bucks discount or better, especially. I'm not ruining my review by hooking up some influencer, but you can figure it out. I'm not exactly poor, and I'm not exactly rich, but I am going to buy as much of this as I can afford while I can. The stuff is great for layering too, so feel free to get creative with it and combine things to extend the life of your bottle. You could wear it with anything else, honestly. It's that versatile. I tend to do CH Men, just because I like that sort of leather and sweetness. CH Men Hot Hot Hot is pretty slept on, too, and is still cheap so I'd try that one out before it becomes unobtainable. There's more to say, but it is downright criminal that such an exquisite masterpiece as this, the ultimate world-class state of the art must suffer the slings of sauvage comparisons from such a bunch of anosmic coal-nosed stoners 😂 I'm sorry, I'm just joking around and couldn't help myself, but I'm dead serious 🤣😉 it does blow me away how this can be so subjective if all the shit-talkers are being sincere. You just have to sample this stuff. That's it. And not just yourself, share it with your girl or friends who have the noses that you apparently do not possess if you're writing a review that says "I can't smell it." Just 😵💫 You've gone straight out of your tree, my son. I'll expand on all this later, but if you are looking for the end-all be-all of safe, mass appealing scents for any dude AND THEN SOME, I'm here to tell you that this is it right here. Believe it. And one more thing. With my first bottle of Salt & Pepper, they sent me little sprayer samples of what seems to be every single fragrance in their collection, 15 of them :^° like freaking whatt?are you kidding me? If that's not a classy bonus for the ages, no such thing exists. Freaking epic beyond all reason. I'll be testing and hopefully liking those. The packaging, box and bottle are also absolutely top-notch. The stuff will catch on eventually, even at its price if it sticks around. I pray to the Lord that it does, because by the time it's gone I'll be done with this place lol. As Chris Farley once said, in the land of the skunks, the man with half a nose is king. Stay fresh ya skunks ✌🏻

My frame of reference for this "review" is Hacivat, closest thing I can compare it to. That spiky pepper and woody undertone (not the oakmoss) you get from Hacivat is basically what this fragrance is all about, but it dives DEEP into it. Luxuriously rich peppers complimented by the subtle nuances of the other listed notes. For example, I'm not really getting any detectable bergamot but I absolutely get the bright olfactory sensation when smelling this. There are absolutely no actual woods in this but you feel like you're smelling a freshly cut tree or something (not that I've ever smelled it, but to my imagination). One would imagine a fragrance like this to have a bunch of peppers and different kinds of cedars and such, but the olibanum they use here is clearly of a great level of quality. Either that or the patchouli and violet leaf just compliment it that well to paint that picture. You would expect this to be super spicy and potentially close to choking levels of dry but it's actually a very rich composition. A must-own after trying a sample. When I finally get this, it'll definitely be at the top of my collection. This is absolutely a modern classic fragrance, on par with those like platinum egoiste. I really hope this isn't genuinely a limited fragrance, I can easily see this being a flagship to put the company in the spotlight. I had a stronger reaction to this sample than I did to the full Parfums De Marly discovery set, and they have some real hard hitters in there. But this... the versatility, scent profile, and performance make this a perfect fragrance in my eyes. Simple enough to be layered with so many other different scent profiles but bold enough to make a complete statement on its own. Leans slightly more mature but not at all exclusionary in terms of age. You just definitely wanna have some maturity in your personality to match the well-composed man that this fragrance describes. If you like simplicity taken to a level that makes you want to go look at the definition of the word, this is for you. It's as if someone gathered the rarest paints in the world and decided to paint a circle with them. Just a circle. But the paint is so vivid and well blended, you just want to keep looking at it and studying the decisions they made while composing it. How they made the purple blend with the yellow so seamlessly, like a gradient. It's a simple fragrance in terms of its direction being highly versatile. You won't find anything that leans you any particular way, especially seasonally. Unless you just find spices to only be good during those seasons, that is. This is Aventus 2 imo, and not in terms of smell at all. I mean in terms of its attractiveness, confidence boosting, and appeal. Doesn't have the citruses that attract most people to Aventus but I feel with how many people wear citrusy fragrances regularly (myself included), something like this will stand out the way Aventus did back in the day.

So, this is very peppery. Somehow aromatic as well. I do like it a lot. Got a 2 ml sample after Melissa from (melissanacional9662) and Justin Copeland (stayfreshproductions) heavily recommended. Try it at the office for 2 straight days and deffently it will get you notice. You might need to adjust the sprays because it might get too loud for some people if it's used indoors. Great scent trail, and girls do like it more than men's. Deffently sample it first. It might be a bit strong for some people. If younoverspray like me, after 8 hours you will still get a little whifs. I have been reading that smells like Sauvage, but not at all. For me, it's way better than Sauvage. Will be on the lockout for a deal because right now is very pricey.

Salt & Pepper I was a bit skeptical of this at first as I am not a big fan of immediate pepper hits in fragrances.... But luckily this sucker is smooth from the get go. Not metallic like Sauvage but definitely fits into that category of blue freshies but at a higher quality in my opinion. Due to the price point it may be worth sampling for some but there is always a discount. Also since I ordered direct samples were thrown in of their other fragrances and I am definitely impressed. One last note...my business partner smelled me from over 10 ft away outside our office....4 hrs in. So even though I thought it had went away, it pushes hard. Still on skin after a shower and walk after work, 10 hours after spraying.

This has mass appeal but smells nothing like the fragrances in the smells like section, maybe achieving the same thing I guess? Fragrantica needs to add the new fragrances from this line because there are some great scents coming from this house. Id say get your nose on this before you skip it because someone added Dylan blue and Sauvage to the smells like section. Those scents are okay but this needs a wear for you to figure out they are miles apart. Salt N' pepper isn't my favorite but it’s got me some crazy compliments to the point I was surprised, pleasantly. For niche lovers that may not be the point but what’s achieved is a special balance of mass appeal and complexity. Good stuff.

Finally added. Basically starts out very strong and peppery. Actually very nice. Bergamot keeps it slightly bright, or fresh as some describe. It transitions into an ambroxan scent, but pepper never leaves. The ‘sea note’ does add a salty aspect to it, luckily it’s not a sweaty salt style that cumin or others can impart. Lasts a LONG time. Projects well, has gotten compliments. Very nice, warm weather scent. Could be good in cooler weather maybe too. Supposedly 4 types of patchouli in this, I get some, but it’s a far background note. Shocked they say 4 types. Either way, pepper, aquatic (with salty aspects) ambroxan scent that lasts. Expensive, but very good.

I love fresh scents and when I first smelled this I was initially disappointed but as it dries down into an aquatic and fruity fragrance I’m impressed with this one. I usually don’t like fragrances that are too spicy but it’s well balanced in this one. Not one that I’ll buy again but definitely a great one if you like spicy aquatic scents. 8/10 Update: this one is all in the dry down. That initial spray is pretty generic and pretty acqua de gio profundo. It’s a magical dry down on clothes and when sprayed on your neck. Don’t really care about how it smells on wrists but wow. Such a hidden gem. Actually a 9/10

This has been my favorite from Precious Liquid for some time. IMO, It isn't redundant with those frangrences where Abmbroxin is dominant. It is in a league of its own. You will know right away when you catch this in the wild because it is very distinct. If you are familiar with Precious Liquid's DNA, it's definitely niche. The pepper can be too strong to make this unisex. Its definitely masculine. But certainly not as frequent in the wild as much as you might catch Aventus or Sauvage. Glad to have this bottle and mostly used during hot weather. Lasts a long time with excellent sillage.

I'm coming back to say I love this stuff. I always get compliments from this, and I didn't get it as the wearer, but it grew on me a lot. Went from an okay, to like, to now a love. The performance is goldilocks. It lasts 8-10 hours on my skin with moderate projection. The price is ridiculous and I wish they would offer this around that $150 range, especially since its only 75ml. I will enjoy my sample(s) as I have about 12ml left. I will wait for a good deal and get a bottle. It's sample worthy and their site offers a men's set for cheap and I really think it's worth it.

The first time I sprayed this on I didn't get what the rave reviews were about but it was just a few sprays to the forearm. Today was my first wearing and this is great. The patchouli mixed with something gives me a slight metallic feel during the first few hours. I have a 10ml and will come back and review after spending some time. This is a like leaning love right now. It's just really expensive, $275 for 75ml so it has to be a love for me to spend that kind of bread.

LOVE IT! Took me about 6 months of coming back to it and trying to understand why someone I know loves it so much, and it hit me one day. It's unique, simple and complex at the same time, and the opening 2 hours are reasonable but afterwards it's SO good. Can smell 18 hours later if I heat up and it definitely projects strongly, so I just go with 1-2 sprays. Highly recommend trying, and the sample prices on his site are so low!

Absolutely love this one. Zingy Zesty fresh and lightly aquatic ( crisp salty breeze not the nasty seaweed notes.) Masculine. Little pricey indeed but performs much better than some give it credit for. Not a big projector but lasts forever on both skin and clothes. Wait til its on sale, then buy 2 bottles!

This is soooooo gooood, it’s very peppery that pairs perfectly w sea notes that is very fitting for its name. It’s also mixed in w pineapple or bergamot keeping it fresh and I agree w the poster below that it’s like a mix of Aventus and sauvage elixir. It has crazy projection too.

It's there in the name. Salt. Pepper. Kind of shower gel/basic, but I can't deny how good it smells. I always receive compliments when wearing this. Lasts about 6-8 hours, which is not bad for a fresher scent. Definitely more masculine leaning to me.

I love this scent! Both fresh and peppery!!!! Easily my most complimented fragrance. This is the quintessential versatile, masculine and sophisticated scent all in one. I’ve had it for a while and it never gets boring!

This is a very citrusy and clean fragrance, but on my skin this becomes very powdery, it reminds me of raw rice. Beautiful

This one really grew up on me. A much less synthetic Dior Sauvage with niche-like quality. Would smell amazing on a man.

#49 on my Fragrance Review Journey Does this smell nice? indeed it does. Does it last long? I was able to smell it faintly on my skin 12 hours later. Is it a compliment getter? Compliments every single time I wore it. Would I buy it again? I would not. This a great fragrance and is surely year-round signature worthy. My problem is that I have had way too many fragrances that are influenced by the Aventus DNA. It's in here and you can smell it. It could certainly be a sport flanker to the line. In the past few years, I have owned or trialed over 20 fragrances that have something to do with this DNA. I believe I just need a break from it. There is no sharp pepper smell (IMO). It is smooth, vibrant, and easy to wear. I believe even if you dislike Aventus, you may find something to like here. I wholeheartedly recommend getting a sample of this. It is mass-appealing and certainly blind buy safer than many other options, but for the price of this, do your due diligence. 8/10

I smelled this without reading the ingredients because I wanted to determine whether or not I thought this was a fragrance intended to smell like actual salt and pepper, or if it was intended to be worn by a gentleman with salt and pepper hair. I found that I think it is both. While I feel like this is unisex and could be worn by a person of any age, I think it would shine on a distinguished, mature man 50+. And it does give salt and pepper vibes. While the pepper is definitely present and prominent, the salt is there even if it is lighter and more implied. The dry down is wonderful also. The pepper fades and you're left with a pleasant slightly musky, but not heavy scent.

One of the first perfumes I bought a year ago. I love the pepper opening and the patchouli dry down. It is a linear, slightly aquatic fragrance which feels salty fresh. Gives the feeling like after a day hanging out on a Cali beach. It is very well done and probably the best from this house (tho the Mandarin is also very nice). Great for spring and summer. It is not a heavy hitter. Wear is for a more mature person. Maybe business casual. Sillage is within elbow’s length, but it lasts an entire day. Constantly getting whiffs. Totally non-offensive in every way. Pleasant work fragrance or for just chilling out on a Saturday.

I agree with the "remind me of" section. I get elements that remind me of Sauvage, Dylan Blue, AND Elysium, but it's most close to Sauvage, in my opinion for the blast of pepper and ambroxan. Even though they don't list Ambroxan, it's heavy in the base, similar to Office for Men. But this isn't a clone, it draws inspiration from all of those fragrances, but it's clearly it's own thing. The rough edges from these other fragrances are sanded off, and we're left with a mature, perfect work scent that's extremely inoffensive and smells good, if somewhat linear.

My initial thoughts on Salt & Pepper is that it smells like a cross between Sauvage Parfum (the most mature version of Sauvage IMO) and Aventus. It smells like the former in the opening as both are heavy with pepper. Then after thirty minutes it turns into the Aventus drydown. Very classy smell. Thought this would be my favorite out of their Limited Collection, but it might very well not be. My favorite so far happens to not be on this website yet, so hopefully it gets added soon. I'll be back to update this.

Attention grabber for sure. The top is all pepper, a very fresh pepper, the bergamot is barely there, if it’s there at all. The drydown gives me this faux fresh leather vibe that I really dig, kinda similar to elysiums drydown. Projection is good for the first hour or 2 then becomes a skin scent. Very masculine. Daytime, summer spring, hot weather. This is a unique take on the blue genre, I like it a lot, maybe if they brought the price down to 220 I’d buy another bottle.

A spicy aromatic freshie. Makes me picture a bar of soap that’s been coated with fresh ground pepper. The spices keep it interesting, but it still smells soapy and clean with a nice aquatic touch. Smells mature to me. I’d recommend for 30+ year olds to try this. Overall 8/10

Wearable, perhaps nice even, if you are into very gentle fragrances. Think freshie. A little citrus, a little powder, a little spice. I think this is good for summer but at the end of the day this is in no way shape or form worth the price.

The pepper is too strong to my taste, otherwise, this fragrance is alright. Nothing to wow about. I tend to wear during cooler weather, day or night. Leaning towards the masculine side. Price is fine. Last more than 8 hrs on my skin.

Smells like a peppery version of Bvlgari’s Aqva Atlantiqve. Way more generic than I was expecting and definitely not anywhere close to the value you would expect at this price point.

I really like Pepper frags, I do like this one, but 275$ for a 75 mil. There is nothing really that makes this a stand out. I’m going to pass for now.

This is a solid summer time scent. Pretty masculine and fresh. Give it a 7.8/10. Only issue it’s too expensive.

Very harmonious blend of spices. Smooth, mildly blue and green. All purpose, niche banger.

Being a lover of mass appealing fresh scents, I was eagerly awaiting to try this. I could not get a sample anywhere so ended up blind buying it from America. Gotta admit, this is one of the most, if not THE MOST disappointing frag I have ever tried in comparison to the hype. I had tried this on about 6 times and every time, I tried so hard to like it but ultimately found it outrageously boring. It's far too dominant on the pepper and comes off as dry as an Arabs sandal. It really needs some juicy citrus or fruity notes because as it stands, it's completely soulless. I've asked co-workers, family, friends, none of them were wowed by this. To top it all off, performance is screwed up too. The opening is strong, meaning you can't overspray it without annoying people around you or making them cough but then it fades really quick to a skin scent/close quarter scent. So you can't really overspray it but then underspraying renders it obsolete also! Ended up selling it at a massive loss. If anyone is tempted by this due to youtube hype etc, let me save you the hassle, it ain't worth it. Not horrible but boring, dry and if I'm honest, not all that appealing. Just my experience with it, some people love this for whatever reason.

Finally was able to get a sample of this and test it out. It’s a very peppery scent that leans on the fresh side so the “fresh/spicy” archetype fits this well. It smells like something you could wear any day of the week and not offensive at all. However, I don’t get the hype on this scent. Not that it smells bad but it doesn’t wow me at all, it just feels “there” and doesn’t grab my attention. I’ll wear it more throughout the week but after wearing it today I can’t see myself choosing this over the other few fragrances I have that I could wear over this. I’d easily choose my YSL Y or Montabaco Verano over this scent. The price for this as well is extremely steep. $275 for a 75ml is pricy, especially for a scent that isn’t memorable to me. Even with the discounts YouTubers push there’s plenty of other scents I’d wear over this for $200+. If you enjoy it though rock it, but (so far) I can’t see myself buying this. Note: Also I don’t understand any of the Sauvage comparisons, this smells nothing like any Sauvage flanker released. Even smelling it blind or side by side I don’t get reminded of Sauvage at all, once again take the “reminds me section” with a Red Sea sized grain of salt

After 3 full wearing's, I am ready to say that this wont be making many appearances on my Scent Of The Day lists. It smells okay... But that's it. Just okay. Everything in the name is what you get- salt and pepper. A very bland and very generic scent. I wouldn't pay for food seasoned with only salt and pepper and I wont be buying a full bottle of liquid giving the same experience. IDK, I guess I expected more from the man who brought us Oud Wood, and maybe that's on me, but even with name value removed from the equation this does not warrant the purchase of a full bottle. The scent has almost no projection before disappearing completely in a few hours. Sample prices on the website are decent so give it a shot. Hopefully your experience is more stimulating than my own.

After smelling a decant of this it honestly just smells like a better quality softer Sauvage edt. No wonder some reviewers say this is a hit with “the ladies” People who are saying this doesn’t smell anything like Sauvage just want to be different and justify this overpriced scent. It’s that same peppery smells but Sauvage is just more mass appealing. In fact got women’s opinions from friends and women I see romantically and they all said it was “alright” and some said “too soft”. And one even said “boring like soap” So if you are buying this because some YouTuber or influencer is pushing it saying “ladies go crazy” they want your money bro lol. Test it first

Not a fan of pepper in my fragrances but this one does grow on me but I do get nose blind to this very easily and for the price, yeah hard pass. Too generic for $275, 75ml bottle. Yeah it probably gets complements from the ladies but that also could be with a $80, 100ml sauvage. Yeah one could say its criminal to compare them like that since one is "higher" in quality in terms of raw materials used (bc "niche") but both do the same thing if you're just looking for complements from the ladies and sure, its more unique than sauvage but not 3 times more unique and "better" than sauvage. Also for that price there should be a magnetic cap.

I got a little decant of this stuff from scent angel and let me start off by saying I’m a Male who’s around a lot of women I’ve gotten women’s opinions on this on both my skin and theres and what they have said is -Boring -meh -very light -smells like paper For $270 I’d say it’s a rip off it smells so watered down to me it almost comes off as something escentric molecule would release with how faint this is. This literally smells like magazine paper. People say this to the feminine nose is like the end all but majority of girls I showed this to said it was boring very light.

If I was only biting on how it smelled, I would have voted 4. But when I take performance (on my skin) and price into consideration, I had to go 3. I do like how it smells, but on my skin it becomes a skin scent in minutes. If I sniff my wrist, I can still smell it, but that’s it. At the gym, when my skin started heating up, I caught a slight sniff of it, but that’s it. I can tell the ingredients are high quality, and I know different skin reacts differently, but I could never justify a full bottle purchase after sampling.

I guess I’m not a fan of peppery fragrances, close up it irritates my nose from the pepper notes and sometimes I get a whiff of this blue smell coming from it probably air blowing past my inner elbow into my nose but I wouldn’t spend its price tag for it, might be a bigger hit for someone else just not for me🤷♂️ blue agave on top

Maybe it has to macerate? I'm trying a sample I bought from the site and so far I smell like I'm meal prepping.... at the beach or something. I'm a fan of pepper fragrances, but to my nose this is pretty pepperidge farm pepper. I'll let it sit and come back with an update.

Too much bergamot to smell anything else until it fully dried down 30+ minutes later. Unisex/masculine leaning for warmer weather. What I am excited about is that this is a creamy perfume. Feels nice & lasting.

Sample this - PL has a nice sample bundle with 8x5ml of their frags for 18 bucks! But $275 for 75ml, no can do! Sauvage EDT is better 😂 Just because it smells more "unique", doesn't make it smell better.

Women like it. It is not for the male nose IMO. Blah. Cool almost Vicks vaporub vibe, peppery, been told I smell spicy. Compliments galore from women, but IME guys don't like it, myself included.

Think of the most mediocre designer fragrance That is loaded with ambroxan and synthetics. Now slap it with a $300 price tag and there you go

The opening is interesting with the pepper and cucumber. Beyond that, I also pick up some citrus and something like carrot. I normally like carrot, but here, combined with violet and base fixatives (ISO E and ambrox) are off-putting . In the air, it smells very generic, like a guy wearing Dior Sauvage in produce department at the grocery store. In close, it smells like raw potatoes. The hype is not real IMO - I actually think this is the worst one from the discovery set. Is it my chemistry or this fragrance, not for me, smells like the cheap tequila/vodka I drink with my friends, though there are a lot of spices and herbal notes, none of them gives this fragrance that rich deep spice aroma, somehow medicinal, reminds me the opening of Iris Malikhân from Maison Crivelli that smell as well as cheap alcohol. It gest a little bit better once that opening stage goes away. Not worth it to me. And this is not even close to Sauvage from Dior.

It's ok. The more I wear it I start to not like it because it smells like food on me. It opens as a fresh peppery aquatic for men, but with time, the coriander and sichuan pepper (mostly this) come out very strongly on me. I smell like I'm wafting Sichuan restaurant a little bit, which makes me want to eat delicious Sichuan food but also feel vaguely uncomfortable that I smell like food.
