Sangria Oak

There's a discounter/decanter retail site that always tosses in a few free Precious Liquid samples in a shipment. Up to now my impression of Precious Liquid perfumes are that of a person who tells you they’re really into wine and then pours you a glass of Barefoot Moscato. The precious liquid name whispers promises of opulence, but the juice inside often smells like someone dunked a used cotton ball in diluted hand soap and called it luxury. And then came along a single sample of Sangria Oak. After the initial used cotton ball marinating in rubbing alcohol opening note passes, there emerges a juicy, sun-ripened fruit soaked in bright yet mellow red sangria. I didn’t think it would smell this good, but here we are, completely hooked, and slightly in awe. There's a quiet August evening confidence to this fragrance as it lingers close, rewarding those who come near me with a refined blend of fruit, wood, and warmth - even heading into the seventh post spritzed hour. Now they need to work on their presentation because these perfume bottles can be easily confused with the typical higher-end witch hazel bottles you may find at your local pharmacy.

Take note - this one smells fantastic. True to the name, the scent is a Sangria made with rich, smooth red wine and dark, subtly sweet fruits. Hints of spice and oak add complexity and balance. It’s a scent that teased me into smelling my wrist over and over. While I’d say it leans a little masculine, a woman could definitely make it work. The sample was from the discovery set, so I only applied a few sprays, but the projection was decent and lasted a few hours. It was definitely my favorite, though there were a few other interesting ones that I need more time with.

Who ever suggest is smells like ganymade has no nose. This smells really good the fruity ness with the booziness mixes so well and stays strong for most of the perfumes performance. The sangria and rum are very sensational and it’s blended so well, wore this is high heat and it’s not bad but it’s more for spring or summer night fragrance, and surprisingly it’s not too fruity 8/10 smell and performance, Must try! Btw the other comments are very accurate to the smell

Oh my, what a delicious red wine scent. It's plummy, with a dark cherry flair that feels fermented and not too dressed up for a perfume. Whispers of smoky oak casks with that raw, Ganymede-esque leather accord by way of saffron. The rum is a bit bracing, warm, and slightly spiced with a pinch of baked cardamom. One of Herpin's best, but it doesn't feel bright enough for a sangria.It feels more merlot when the bright citruses burn off.

Put simply - one of the best fragrances you can find. Ganymede Eau Fraiche. At $275, it’s a steal. Stunning.

I received free samples of Precious Liquid's Sangria Oak and Blue Agave with a perfume order. My experience with Blue Agave wasn't positive (see my review) but Sangria Oak is completely different. In summary - if you want something different for summer that isn't citrusy and isn't blue/aquatic, Sangria Oak is for you. Overall, a very positive experience with Sangria Oak. Sangria Oak's opening has a subtle touch of citrus but that lasts maybe about 5 minutes. It evolves into an oak/boozy/wine/fruity fragrance, in that order of predominance. The oak (wood) component makes it masculine but it isn't sharp or sour. The fruity accord is like a mix of pear, peaches, apples, etc., not a mix of citrus fruits. There is a touch of sweetness to the fragrance that is at about the upper limit of what I find acceptable. (In general, I don't care for very sweet perfumes.) The sweetness pulls it all together and makes it fresh overall, perfect for warm to hot days in summer, spring or fall. I suspect Sangria Oak would be less successful in winter. Performance is excellent. Sillage and projection are good for the first 1 to 2 hours, however longevity is very good. I still had a very strong skin scent after 12 hours. The only negative for Sangria Oak is its price - lists at $275 for 75ml. I've seen it at a discounter on sale for around $240.

Sangria Oak smells exactly as the name would imply. Woody, fruity and boozy. The notes list rum, but the wine is much more prevalent to my nose. The description reads more like something for cooler weather, but there is a level of freshness that makes this wearable year round. I probably wouldn’t wear it on the hottest of days, but that’s just a personal preference - I tend to lean towards citrus and aquatics for those days. I have a sample I’ve given a few short (3-4 hours) wearings, so I can’t comment definitively on performance. Going strictly off of smell, Sangria Oak is a winner. If you’re looking for a fun, unique boozy fragrance that you can wear year round, this is worth checking out!

I take back everything I said about longevity. This is a 24 hour fragrance. Projection is spotty, it comes and goes but it was front and center the next morning as I was stepping into the shower Fruity, spice, wood. Nice, nothing special but totally wearable. Unfortunately given lack of longevity and poor projection at this price point this fragrance is not worth the money. A handful of hours later and it is nearly gone. Fragrances are subjective, I completely disagree with the assessment that this product is similar to Ganymede. This is nothing like Ganymede.

It’s finally here. This is the best one from the brand, it’s not like the best thing ever but has good performance and it’s fruity. To me it’s like a fruity Ganymede, like plum plus, woody accords and the mineral vibe of Ganymede without the nasty suede drydown. I like it.

Fiesta in a bottle. Very unique, I am a fan.
