Rose Monotone

Fragrantica got this one completely wrong on the notes. There’s no violet. So that pyramid? Made-up. Doesn’t reflect what’s actually going on. But here’s the twist: it’s actually kinda brilliant. It opens with this super clean, almost sterile burst. I am getting fresh linen straight from a freezer. Then you get this cold metallic sheen, and a vibe I can only describe as brand-new plastic. What they call the « Cellophane Accord ». Not plasticky cheap, more like freshly unwrapped flowers. It shouldn’t work, but it does. It’s Rose, yes but with a sterile, clinical edge that feels totally unplaceable. Not romantic. Not retro. Just... strange and extremely modern. In the best way.

Rose Monotone is quiet elegance. It feels like a perfectly tailored white shirt, crisp, graceful, and understated. The rose here isn’t powdery or loud. It’s calm, balanced, and modern, yet it stays a little distant, almost as if it’s afraid to break character. Beautiful, but reserved. I admire its craftsmanship, though for my taste, I look for a touch more texture or contrast, something to disrupt the perfection just a bit. Still, it’s an undeniably graceful creation that would shine on those who appreciate minimalism with emotion.

The listed notes don’t really match what I get. To me it smells like a brand-new pair of sneakers, plastic, metal, with just a hint of fruit and rose. Very futuristic, very sterile-clean (almost too clean). A friend even nicknamed it “if Windex made a perfume,” which feels oddly accurate.

A futuristic rose that I like a lot. However, it just disappears on my skin even though I spray a LOT.

Funny that Rose "Monotone" is not a soliflore, but a modernized classic French rose-violet a la YSL Paris. Even though this is my favorite in the collection (Maybe the other ones are too abstract for me), I will not get one...although I look forward to their new releases—I must have at least one bottle (for the glass art)!

I like this one. It’s initially very unusual. Minimal, futuristic, clinical and whisper-quiet. It opens with an icy rose incense which vaporizes leaving behind rose soap and suede. Maybe I’m anosmic to a musk here or maybe its’ supposed to be this quiet of a scent. Either way, it’s not something I would wear but I appreciate its’ unique intro. It’s definitely quiet but I wouldn’t call it weak. It still manages to project softly and lasts several hours. 3 out of 5.

This one is so beautiful. Rose, violet, and lychee; a magnificent harmony. My only problem is the projection and longevity is non existent. I understand some scents are meant to sit closer to the skin and not create a blooming cloud, but this is like, nothing? After not even 30 minutes it's gone. Just wish it lasted and projected a touch more.
