Sailor Uranus

Primaniacs’ "Sailor Uranus" starts off with strong, sharp citrus notes that have something roughly blue-ish mixed into it. It probably is the eucalyptus, although it does not have a distinct quality at this stage. This did not work well because it strongly reminds me of citrus-scented cleaning agent (not the kind that you usually find in Japan though, more like the one you will find in some parts of Europe), with that blue-ish note giving off a very chemical vibe. Fortunately, this pungency fades away after less than 10 minutes. This is when the menthol starts to unfold as a simple, airy, even if one-dimensional note. It is also when I start liking this fragrance a little. 20 minutes after application, something of a white floral note comes through – it smells like a mix of jasmine and dark green leaves, which is nice. After a while something mineralic starts to blend in. This marks the direction this fragrance is headed from now on. At 2h30 minutes, "Sailor Uranus" has become a faint but wearable mineralic floral. Conceptually, I think this is a great choice. Firstly, because in my humble opinion jasmine matches the female side of Haruka well, as mineralic notes are a great match for her masculine side. Secondly, because even before I've tried this one out, I've always felt that Oriza's Villa Lympia is that one fragrance that captures Haruka's image the best: warm, airy, transparent, faint sea notes, a few white and/or yellow florals, a tinge of sand... Primaniacs’ "Sailor Uranus" at its main stage uses that approach too, just not with the same complexity and frankly, not in the same quality. After that final transformation, not much happens anymore. 4 hours after application, you are left with a faint skin scent, after six hours from the first spritz every trace of it had disappeared from my skin. Altogether, this fragrance leaves me puzzled: a bit intrigued but also disappointed. Except for the initial 5 minutes, which I find hideous, it is a nice enough product based on some good ideas. It changes dramatically over the first hour, yet manages to remain linear in each stage. Yet, somehow the single aspects don’t come together well, they do not tell a story. And this I found was a pity. "Sailor Uranus" is an unisex perfume that slightly leans feminine, which is very matching given the character this was modeled after. Still, for this fragrance, I will not give a recommendation based on age and gender, because the target group of this fragrance is pretty clear. If you are a Sailor Moon fan and have the chance to grab a bottle for the original price – which is still around 50 euros for 30 ml – or a price close to it: sure, why not. Pay 100 euros+ for it from some online vendor? No way. Get yourself a bottle of Villa Lympia instead. Can I recommend it as a piece of merchandise? Yes, although if perfumery is a more serious hobby of yours, chances you will be disappointed are rather high. Can I recommend it as a stand-alone fragrance? No. To put it otherwise: If I decided to get any more Primaniacs fragrances, it will not be for the fragrance itself. Also, after trying out two of them, I’ve firmly decided against getting the whole collection. It really seems not to be worth it quality-wise. While this is a nice curiosity, I don’t think of Primaniacs' "Sailor Uranus" as of Sailor Uranus in a bottle. She is a way too great character for that. TL;DR: Overpriced mineralic jasmine that never comes fully together

A fragrance which radiates an irresistible charm that can never be tied to one thing.' This is a really strong but fresh outdoorsy fragrance. It's sharp and you can really smell the ozone in it!!!! Very pungent at first, just like it states 'like a blade.' It eventually becomes easier on the nose but always maintains a eucalyptus/windy/ozone aura. Not floral or too girlish! Nice for an athletic outdoor scent!
