Arsalan

It is not us, to tell about Asia .. it is Asia that defines us ... It opens sharp, salty, spicy, just animalic, sweaty ... then it becomes balsamic, resinous, distinctly resinous of conifer, of turpentine. In drying, it abandons that spiciness, and takes on a fungal olfactory consistency; dried mushrooms and oriental herbal resins, it becomes more and more saline and here ... FINALLY .. the beloved Oud that, for years, I inhaled in my wanderings through the humid and dark neighborhoods of Bangkok's chinatown .. then, cumin returns, which had characterized the immediate opening, and a round vanilla musk, full-bodied, to immerse and re-emerge, from the bubbling of this oud, intense, sharp and labyrinthine, oily ... It remains for hours, not so much in the air around us, but inside our heads .. sounding box of the sounds of the soul. This is the smell of Bangkok, the smell of Thailand, the smell of Asia, of emotion, of loneliness, wonderful, ghostly loneliness, of magical encounters, of holiness, of damnation ... of rebirth .. - Jay Ien ... Mai Pen rai ... Duration? Well, three sprays in the morning at 6.30 ... 6.30 pm, I still feel it strong and distinct ... amazing Please, apolgize the poor translation

Yeah!!! Good stuff! Very nice oud at the beginning! Just the right amount of an animalic smell. As usual, it’s blended well with a vibe of citrus and herbal freshnesses to my nose at least (weird that nothing like that is listed in the notes). Prin is so good at making exotic versions/tweaks of typical masculine cologne smells!!!

Arsalan Prin (Store test, Skin test) I still remember Arsalan quite vividly, Arsalan is beautiful white floral - oudy scent. I think Arsalan is one of the best Prin fragrance can offers. Opening with standard classic oudy-format and cliche white floral. The opening was giving me a vibe of meh. yeah whatever. The whole composition need to heat and build up as a sweaty sweet gardenia start to unfold over and over again. Arasalan gives impression of eternal flower in my humble interpretation. Floral in this never really stop blooming from my skin. The first bloom was a classic of bloom white floral. Start from small and grow bigger overtime. Until it reach full bloom, I speak to myself that is so f.beautiful. however, it keep go on blooming. until all I can smell is a blast of white floral light, it merge with Incense note. it is very shining bright. Icarus closes to the sun. I feel intrigue. The incense keep on burning and burning until it start to burn all the floral field become the white ash. sudden, the floral starts to unfold again. retold the story of over again. This time, in more tame manner. They know how to bloom just right. this time it cohesive stay with brunt wood. The scent end with soft floral musk on skin. I am thill and so happy to withness a good ride with Arsalan from beginning to an end, It is really beautiful developing fragrance and it truly represent light. But this light is too bright, it blind my eyes. I don't really feel the comfort wearing this scent as scent progress in strong manner, It is exciting but it is not really gentle. Light of authority, light that told you shall no pass. Mozgus from berserk. kind of. he is too close with the light then he becomes blind. And in my personal interpretation of light. I would love to wear a gentle ray that enveloping you in warmth manner, light of life shine bright from the sun. Cocooning ready for another day. Still, I find Arsalan by Prin is gorgeous fragrance concoction. of Spicy, Oud and White Flora. It is beautiful developing with progressive page. It is just not my kind of light but I could see this can be good enlightenment fragrance for someone, comfortable in high-holy incense.

Seriously no-messing delightfully filthy stuff, but absolutely frightening if you're new to the form. Not one for the nervous nellies or novice oud n00bs: this opens with that almost-sour, nearly blue-cheesy tang of oud that can be a shock to the system, reminiscent in this stage of the barnyardy slap to the nose of Oud Assam's opening - but as with Assam, Arsalan also mellows and softens to a darkly spicy-wood exotic journey after the first 45 minutes or so and its floral aspects blossom further. A real Prin showcase, being complex, intense, a little scary, and very funky indeed; absolutely not appropriate for office or formal use, and you need a little backbone to stand up to its bossy, moody presence. It will make itself felt, and if you want to shrink into the background - not at all the right thing. Can smell a little pissy if over-applied (which I think, bizarrely enough, is the effect of the white flowers, rather than the noble rot of the oud) and you really don't need more than the very lightest misting - more would be obnoxious, as well as wasteful. But it has absolute charisma: if you truly ache to smell like the inside of a deeply antique, intricately cared hardwood box filled with curios, spells and magic from the deepest forest - it can fill that brief! There's a lot here to challenge the newcomer, but like many an adult pleasure it is worth taking the time to learn to appreciate. Very much akin to Varuek in its journey from' impressive but intimidating snarling beast' to 'cuddling furry monster' over time - as well as in its rich mahogany colour and bombastic intensity and duration. For my taste Varuek just edges it, with its slightly warmer, browner spice blend which skews more welcoming in the later stages, but there's a lot in common there. An animalic delight for those who dare, and very much worth the (high) price for those serious fans who love oud a little bit more than I do. Gender is not all that relevant - if you dare, then you dare - but definitely tending male.

Spicy woody Oriental with a strong animalic vibe, this is a typical outrageous Prin creation. The perfume opens with spicy notes of cumin, coriander, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, turmeric and saffron. The very brief floral heart is jasmine, gardenia, and opoponax. The perfume settles on a heavy musky powdery bed of Laotian oud, sandalwood, patchouli and animal musk. A very potent perfume evoking the smell of an Arabian steed, this masculine leaning scent has very good sillage and longevity. A bold and interesting creation. Enjoy!

Huddled mess, nondescript sweet sticky filth (jasmine or cumin?) very similar to the one I have experienced with burmite honey. I suspect my sample going bad... I feel genuinely sorry for not liking this because the note list sounds dreamy.

I love the list of notes. I like some of Prin's fragrances very much and own 2 from Strangers. Unfortunately, this smells like poop on my skin. Immediately washed it off.

I'm getting not a lot of oud, but it is there. Primarily smells like turmeric, coriander, vintage musks, and jasmine, in that order. Old-school is now niche.

A multiple time shapeshifter. Starts in a way that will be pretty off-putting to most people (it was to me) with a distinct meaty smell, parma ham from a picnic left 4 hours too long in the sun - to sweat bringing out the salt. Layered on top of that are a load of fragrant spices. The front end is a heady smell, I didn't find it pleasant - I doubt many smelling it on you would either. Then, about an hour in it settles into a floral stage that, for me, is very reminiscent of classic aldehydic perfumes - the exiled cousin of the Chanel No.5 family... By now I am enjoying it and as it settles finally it's into a woody, spicy blend which is strong on things like pepper and clove. Pretty nice. It came to me as part of the Bloom 'Dare To Wear' mailing and I suspect most wouldn't, though the lovely woody spice of the late scent is somewhat worth the wait. As with many 'art' perfumes - something of a curate's egg.

a beautiful oudy white floral, another banger from prin. opens with a bitter oud blast, similar to varuek, but with added multiple spices, and then quickly softens with a rich white floral bouquet. the composition keeps on "blooming" and heating up the longer you wear it, getting creamier and richer. The initial oud base stays strong, balancing the composition away from the feminine-leaning white florals. actually, never smelled a white floral even close to this I believe it suits men better..

Initially this was spicy, oudy (In the wood sort of way, not the barn) One little spray was strong and I could smell it without trying.. Later I got a bit of rum or bourbon. It was definitely to me some kind of brown alcohol note. Way later I still get a faint hint of oud, but mostly the spice and a touch of patchouli. I still get a whiff flowing by as I move. I think this is very well done. (His name was familiar to me, and I realized he created 3 of the zoologists. I like and own 2 :) )

Rather not for the fainted hearts out there. First impression might get you literally wrong and you may assume it's a hardcore animalic. In fact, it's not. It's characteristic with one of the many facets of oud combined with another characteristic, indolic nature of jasmine. Deep drydown is resinous, woody and still spicy. Very good longevity, sillage slightly over moderate. Quite a good one.

as an oud enthusiast who also adores cumin, THIS is an amazing fragrance.
