Homa (हवन)

Okay so, well, how to start?? 😂 This stuff is extremely and very very very Dark, a truly horrifying scent that will announce your presence and I'm not exaggerating. The Opening: a symphony of chaos and destruction, animalic, smokey, earthy , herbal, oudy a breath taking to be honest. The mid stage (30 - 60 mins): the animalic notes comes to play (not the goat hair yet) and the exotic spices, the spices gives it very ritualistic feeling to it, it is like something sacred is happening and ofc the Ash and incense is very strong as well giving you the feeling of throwing all different things to the fire. The Dry down(+4 hrs) : you thought the goat hair is gone? Ha! Think twice. The dry down is very very strong on the goat hair smell, it is extremely detectable, it fells like the end big boss came into play lol, anyways, it is extremely after goat smells and very soapy/fresh green as well, honestly weird stuff. Fun things I noticed during my journey : - It has a cheesy smell as well ( my guess it is the cambo of Butter and the Indian oud) - it has a sweaty smell but rarely appears out of 100 sniffs only 3 times. - it is extremely and incredibly unique and one of its kind out there. - with all those animalic notes I didn't got any Barnyard smells out of it - the quality on this fragrance is something else it feels natural and it is natural only civet is synthetic and you don't even notice it Performance is very good and Prin is just soo creative its not even close My last few words would be again that this stuff is sooo dark, pure darkness, uncanny. If Voldermot had a signature scent, this would be it. This fragrance as a song: Slipknot - Custer Glad that I own a full bottle.

After reading all those previous reviews I am not so sure people are aware of such an important piece of information... Prin no longer works on/for PRYN PARFUM (due to either personal reasons or business conflicts) and he currently runs only 3 brands, not 4; Prin (ปฤณ), Parfum Prissana and Strangers Parfumerie. He cannot simply take his previous works (stock wise, most are no longer available anyway) to this new brand due to property rights so roughly half of the first batch of releases are basically the re-creation of his previous masterpieces from the good old PRYN PARFUM. With slight adjustments to the formula, improving the quality of the scents and also for wearability, and based on availability of ingredients... Homa is basically the new AKSUM. (70-80% of the original formula but Homa is more wearable and is considered a ‘better’ work, based on the perfumer’s own words) Anotalia is the new TURKISH LEATHER. (Exact same formula) Aran is the new ARANYAKA. (Exact same formula) Mandodari is the new MORAH. (Exact same formula) All are now in Extrait concentration though. But they are, purposefully, the same scents. It might come across a tad bit different now based on the availability of some ingredients as mentioned earlier but this is simply a reboot for the brand... I just think it should be known before you try those 4 out at least. And these works should not be viewed as repetitive or redundant...they were intentionally created to replace the old ones. Full disclosure I am just a fan of his work and not a spokesperson for the brand. I really hope this helps. The scent needs to be judged fairly at least. I personally look forward to more of his works!

Homa is clearly a modified version of Aksum... retaining its core characteristics while being much more wearable. (I would wear Aksum myself but Homa is definitely much less challenging in all fairness). It is smoky, incensy, obviously animalic but at the same time quite refreshing. Kaffir Lime Leaves, Cumin and Turmeric are very prominent to my nose. The opening might scare some people off, especially if you are not familiar with his work. But the drydown is in fact quite airy...not as thick and dark compared Aksum. The citrus notes and spices in here are all well selected... it makes Homa a unique work of art. I do not want to say this is flat out fresh but in a way it is. Prin masterfully surrounds animalic scents with a healthy dose of fresh spices and ever so slightly floral undertone. Oud in here is not too barnyard in the opening while also gives a naturally woody hint along the way. The animalic profile of this oud is not too prominent...perhaps it is simply outshined by other notes like Goat hair, hyrax and civet. Ashy mushroom vibe is also detectable all the way through. Giving Homa the roundness it needs. This is a fine art... those who likes Aksum but finds it a bit too challenging should give this one a try. Glad I own a full bottle of both.

Serious animalic and piney concoction. A fragrance for someone who appreciates and can afford. Only need two or three sprays and protection with Agni is guaranteed. I feel the piney elements lifts the Lao Oud to give it an lift and forward fire. Though, no pine elements are present in ingredients, just getting lots of higher pine notes. Again a serious bottle. Bought one myself. Change (new beginnings) and protection is what I get here. Love it!

One of the most addictive fragrances I have tried. A swirling incense portal into an overgrown forest filled with flowers blooming and creatures fucking. Divine.

Smells like a sweaty bear rolled around in some pine needles. Very large bear, very small pile of pine needles.

Smokin' goat! Wonderfully reeky, stinky, sweaty business from Prin Lomros, really letting the inner beast loose here. Rams and slams into the nose with an absolute clangggg of take-no-prisoners spice and a full array of animalics giving fur, pee, lanolin, glands, living skin, wax - the full mammalian experience - certainly extremely challenging, but somehow also oddly seductive. It's almost ridiculously over-the-top in terms of how "dirty" it goes - is it urinous? yes; armpit-like? yes; groiny? yes, that too. I do know all that might sound revolting. And yet. It just keeps you sniffing and snuffling away, somehow addicted and magnetically attracted to its sensuous trail. That cavalcade of resins and spice and yes, even flowers, somehow turns all the (very considerable) filth to magic. Beautiful beeswax and benzoin notes do mellow it out somewhat, and especially later on; in the final hours of its very, very long life (on skin or fabric) it's almost soft and cuddly - though still, like many a pet kid, just a little bit barnyard even when it's cuter. (It's right at the "big beast" end of the Prin range - like a goatier, more caprine Varuek, but / and a slightly sweeter, waxier Arsalan.) Ashiness also firmly present throughout here - it's fiery in aroma as well as in character - with an unapologetic smoky/embers/ashy edge also found in Nesnas Qareen. Insanely strong - it goes on dark in colour, nearly greasy in texture; the mildest possible misting, or even a few tiny swipes of a stick, are enough - and with longevity that's almost ludicrous. Pretty much a total treatment of what 'animalic' in perfume really means - for this is a live one, a creature of flesh and blood and all the bodily functions, conjured in smell. For that reason, not going to win over novices or the easily alarmed - and really probably not suitable for any sort of work or formal context, or for wearing around people who don't already know and love you. There is no compromise. Many will be repelled. I am fascinated, and completely in its spell. So expensive that I'd hesitate to lash out for a full bottle, because where, where on earth, could I wear it - except on glorious days alone where I could smell like a friendly goat and love it. Nobody in their right mind should blind buy it. If, however, you have no shame or reservations about smelling this way - charge right ahead and bang heads with it!

Okay, so...I gradually fell in love with this one! At first the kaffir lime leaf, very prominent cumin, goat hair, and general non-sweetness reminded me of what a Thai goat curry would smell like and I wasn’t sure about this one. But as I kept trying it I found I absolutely love it! The lime leaf makes it wearable and even makes it resemble usual western scents (citrus) but is also exotic at the same time. The other animalics are awesome although more supporting...the cumin and goat hair are the main ones I notice! In the end, such a great great scent once one gets used to it! I bought a full bottle!

This perfume is the definition of "animalic" to me. It is a powerful cacophony of animalic notes, with spices and resins in overdrive mode. So, so strong. Very well done, but I honestly struggle with it, because this stinks like a realistic wild animal. I see why so many reviewers refer to a bear.

Starts off smelling like your dog urinated on the carpet. After the drydown, you start picking up on all the beautiful and complex notes in the background that reminds me of Nefer. But the carpet piss remains centerstage. I feel like it's overdone.

Homa is a beastly Oriental animalic perfume from one of the enfante terribles of over the top modern perfumery. It is for the most part a slight reworking of this talented perfumers early but notoriously difficult to get hold of beauty Aksum with slight variations. The perfume replaces the asphalt notes of Aksum with some spices but has essentially the same woody and animalic notes. My big problem with this perfume is that it is a lazy work. It does not in any way capture the nuances of an Indian Vedic fire ritual. It is a kitchen sink of what I can throw together that reminds people of India. The overt use of animalic musk is also distracting because there rituals are almost bereft of these. The use of notes like mushroom and hyrax simply puzzling. Setting the wrong contextualization aside it is a beastly smoky animalic. There is plenty of the perfumers favorite animalic notes like the goat hair tincture, civet, hyraceum, with incense, slight tropical florals, and slight Oud. It is a nice one to wear for people who are into bold Orientals and animalic scents. The masculine leaning scent has strong sillage and longevity and the signature Prin woody spicy drydown. I wish I could like this more but it is simply redundant and disappointing as a new work. If you missed Aksum here is a close replacement.

I revisit the sample and this time it was quite pleasant. Didnt tried Aksum, but it reminds me a lot of Mriga, less peaty-piney. Less animalic than Varuek in my perception which was too much for me. Its very musky. Cant pinpoint any specific materials, on my skin its pure warm musky animalic, no pissy drydown how im experiencing many times from civet. It somehow giving me warm hug of furry animal, which is enjoyable ride when im home alone. Probably not safe for your human enviroment when they havent any experiences with this type of perfume. I started to understand truly Prin when i was in Thai jungle and got food poisoning. My nose was at that time so sensitive at all smells around. I was walking around this big rock boulder under the mountain. It was so stinky, probably all animals were pissing at that same spot. Thunderstorm were coming, it was so hot a humid, all smells were evaporating in that hot temperature. Mixed wet jungle smells in combination with strong animalics around i started to puke, at that time i know i got food poisoning, but at that time i also know i started to understand Prin better.

This is brilliant! I won't repeat what's already been said, but I'll just add that this fragrance changes at least two times during its life cycle. Even more remarkably, Homa, during its opening and middle stage is a completely different experience up close than it is at a distance. The contrast is quite staggering. But there are a few fragrances that do this. Homa however is the only fragrance I have smelled that is more veracious, animalic and raw at a distance than up close. I don't know how Prin did this, but well done! A master at work. This is a deep, dark and yet refreshingly green spicy scent. And so so much more! Not for the tame. If anyone is selling a bottle at a good price, please message me. My sample is all gone!

Homa by Prin. A ferocious opening, skanky, powerfull, challenging. If you can wait, It does settle eventually to a resinous, smokey, incency, animalic beast of a fragrance that is funky & actually quite nice. Does get more wearable & subtle as it dries down, but it takes a while. The drydown is the nicest part, musky, leathery, slightly sweet, with earthy touches. Not bad!

Okay, this is challenging, so sample before buying. I have found most Prin scents to be too dark, heavy and animalic on me and this is no different. I get a heavy dark floral, strong ylang ylang and dirty unwashed body. It's not as awful as that sounds, but it was a total scrubber for me. Heavy, musky, dirty skin, and soapy old style florals. Hard pass.

A big, sweaty, stanky hug from a bear. And I love it. Honestly can’t see the relationship between the perfume description and the scent itself - but this is another great perfume from Prin.
