Mriga

Mriga offers a delightful olfactory journey that feels like stepping into a charming “forest café” tended by elegant deer. The fragrance brings to mind the dry scent of pine needles, capturing the essence of an autumn woodland on a dry, sunny day. This gentle coniferous note is more of a soft hint of nature than something sharp or resinous. This natural setting is wonderfully complemented by a deer musk accord, which adds an earthy, little spicy richness that’s very noticeable without being overwhelming—imagine a deer resting against an ancient conifer, leaving just a trace of its serene presence in the forest air. What’s particularly fascinating is how, on my skin, Mriga sometimes unveils coffee-like facets (because of the peat?), enhancing that “deer café vibe.” Eventually it’s not really coffee, but it has this kind of mellow aroma of roasted coffee beans somehow. The blend of scents feels natural, layered, well blended, and easygoing; the musk is subtle and far from overpowering or animalic. A touch of lime that introduces a slightly bitter-sour note—some might find it a bit off-putting or an aroma of piss, but I think it adds a refreshing zing. This fragrance is truly refined, elevating the typical coniferous aromas into something special. The earthy, dry, woodsy base gives it an exciting depth, making it wonderfully complex. Occasionally, the musk steps back just a bit to let the rose and jasmine peek through as “dark” floral aromas, though they're still wrapped in that lovely, shadowy musk—never bright, but beautifully deep and enveloping. Maybe it's oud and labdanum that are creating that dark background. (But I can't pick up oud and labdanum present as solo material; labdanum is sometimes making me feel as if I have a fever, but here I don't get that feeling.). One of my friends told me that I'm smelling like an Arabian shop owner. I don't know what that really means, but maybe for his nose it's like too many different smells in one place. This kitchen sink style is a signature of Prin, and I really love it. Mongolian Mriga have very similar profile to Mriga, but it have this warm pulsating smell of animal, this is missing in normal Mriga, despite the fact that the musk accord is smelling really simillar and true to the real thing, its just missing the “real thing” aura. I prefer more Mriga than Mongolian Mriga, reason is maybe wrong place of application. I applied small dab from my small sample vial directly under the nose, the pulsating animalic warmness of real deer musk was somehow repulsive. ( im newbie in musk ) Projection of Mongolian Mriga is more stronger, but how it settle down more over time, its more pleasant to my nose. I can smell it after 2 showers from my skin. I think this concept of creating 2 “same” or upgraded perfumes, one more strong with real things and one more softer and cheaper, its nice option for 2 kinds of people who can find they preferable version. ( same with Varuek-Loup, Anatolia-Anatolia Anatolia and maybe others)

Intensely, dangerously, utterly Prin. Reeky animalic beastliness further besmirched with truffly tangs of damp soil, nearly-noxious herbs and weeds, thumping resins and a whole over-the-top bouquet of flowers. Feels like someone's pulverised the world's biggest joss stick, marinated the dust in some kind of ayurvedic oil and then given you a merciless full-body rub with it. Now I find all that completely fabulous, but if you don't want to smell like the contents of a very adventurous head shop (but why on earth not?) then steer clear. Although all the floweriness makes it a hair more conventional than the Prin average, and it doesn't feature any of his often-beloved 'challengingly cheesy' oud or nearly-pissy leather notes - with their real live-beast vibes of thrilling rot and nearly-body-fluids - this is still no easy wear. Apply lightly or it may wear you, and be prepared for a wild ride as the first explosion of flowers ebbs to let the more herbal/medical stuff swell - and then the more animalic side dominate completely at the tail end (pun very much intended). Leaves an almost-greasy sheen on skin which ignites wave after wave of scent adventure and memory every time your body heat rises. For me it's magnificent (and I'm getting much more of a dark-and-furry, and less of a clean-conifer-outdoorsy, picture than the note list or others' reviews or the scent story given above might suggest - and still love it) - but anything further from a blind buy is hard to imagine. A definitive showcase for the very particular set of skills of Mr Lomros - which means: wildly original, so maximalist it's almost dizzying, and not for those who wish to smell clean, groomed, classic or understated in any way. This is one for the wild shaggy-haired eccentrics who love to travel to distant territory and for whom the whole idea of 'going too far' is just not a thing. Offers huge, huge rewards for those who dare, though. Gender is not relevant but its cost (painful, but justified on grounds there's so little around like it, at any price point) might be a deterrent for many.

I once had the chance to try up close real wild Musk Deer absolute and some other very rare and "unethical" absolutes and it was truly an aromatic experience-school that has been etched in my mind! So Mriga, although it is based (I assume) on synthetic molecules that simulate Musk, is very similar to the real thing and reminds me exactly of that experience! Personally, while I like perfumes with Musk as the main character, I don't prefer them on me, but if you are a friend of these, then I guarantee you that you will like Mriga very much and it will probably be one of the best musks you have ever smelled. It is a quite animalic but at the same time clean and very sensual fragrance with a soft jasmine embracing it, a little rose and Oud that are barely distinguishable and accompanied by notes of cypriol, lime, fir and moss to give it a feeling of rocky mountain soil that wild goats have passed over, along with this cold and clean breeze of the mountain peak! Unisex and with great longevity. 8.9/10 "Kasturi Mriga" refers to the Himalayan musk deer and is a famous story-parable that comes from Indian philosophy and tradition. The musk deer desperately searches for a wonderful smell that it senses, without knowing that it comes from its own body as it is produced by its own gland. The animal runs everywhere, exhausting and injuring itself in its attempt to find the source of the scent, which is in its belly. Finally, when it tires of searching and lies down, it realizes that the smell comes from within itself! The story is a metaphor for the human search for truth, happiness and personal fulfillment. It suggests that answers and happiness are not found in external searches, but in the inner exploration of ourselves.

Me in a bottle. Got into perfumes about a year ago. Was only looking for a good conifer forest scent to replace my current (only) scent. But this quest was A LOT harder than I thought. Was not up to date about conifer scents being "dated") About 1000 samples, over 30 bottles later, and a new hobby richer. I finally found it. Started with Bottega Veneta (a bit sweet and pretty boring). Quorum. One Man Show. Aqua Brava(Love them all, but not spot on forest smell to me) Everything from Pineward (too sweet and sticky balsam fir dna, many also too smokey) Spell 125(Now we are talking. Love it. But a bit simple and weak performance. Smells very close to northern pine sap to my nose.) Finally after sampled about everything from Prin(Love many of his perfumes). Mriga just hits everything spot on for me! The same dry conifer sap dna that in spell 125. But also with the most wonderful musk adding depth and mixing so wonderful with the conifers. Peat, real oud and more notes adding even more complexity. Sad this is so expensive. But on the other hand, only a single spray projects good and lasts all day on me. My quest for the perfect forest scent is finally over, but my journey in perfumery hobby has only started.

Wow. First sampling and I immediately love this. I can't pick out all the notes besides what I assume is the musk and the conifer resins, but it's strong and I love it! I want this synthetic deer musk accord added to half the perfumes in my collection... It seems like it would go well with so many of the florals and woods that I love. Shares some similarities with my beloved Monarch from Solstice Scents. If I could put the conifers from that one together with the musk from this one, I'd be in heaven. I would definitely say it's more masc than fem, but as a woman I have no problem pulling it off. Smells more floral on my arm, and sharper and more herbal on my shirt. I admit I am now curious about the version that includes natural musk, although I have ethical concerns about real deer musk, I would love to smell it at least once. It is prohibitively expensive so that will probably not happen anytime soon. I will have to sample some other creations by Prin Lomros however.

I’ve been on a Strangers sampling binge, and so far I have not found the scents to be a good match. I was ready to dismiss any further Prin Lomros compositions, but I’m glad Mriga fell into my hands. It’s complex and beautiful. Surprisingly I had no idea what I was suppose to be smelling, kind of a sweet and earthy pine forest scent, but I knew this was much more complex than those three notes. If this is what deer musk smells like, I’m a fan.... I know this is a synthetic, but wow, smells very natural. Performance is stellar. A tiny amount goes along way. It’s pricey at $190 for 30ml but I also think it’s worth consideration.

The best roses somehow always come with the hand/paw/hoof that's handled them. Prin's Mriga smells of nature and vintage woods (both forests and old armoires), all concealing somewhere in the heart a single rose that's been depetaled and placed in a sachet for some wanderer to find with enough wisdom and determination. Let's not also forget the civet, which lingers around, filling the room, the space, the Earth. Some might say this smells like an old man (old soul) but to me that's absolutely fine. I wouldn't mind smelling like this now or then, an instant classic.

Wow! I thought I would never say this but Prin has made a masterpiece that put me in awe. It has the Siberian Summer vibe but it is a giant step above. His interpretation of synthetic deer Musk puts you in a trancelike state it is so compelling. All the notes work even the lime element. It is a perfect musky, woodland scent. Two thumbs up!

I bought Siberian Summer and it had notes of cat piss - I smelled it and other people did too. It ruined the fragrance for me and I sold it. Mriga is really similar to Siberian Summer but better in every way and without that cat piss note. Prin has outdone Russian Adam - that is no easy task and it puts him "on the map" in my opinion.

I don’t like seeing that cypriol oil. It’s crap and just ruins the perfume. I’m not buying any more perfume with that crap in its. Prin dumped everything but the kitchen sink in here, it’s a jumbled mess. I think Prin fancies himself a great perfumer...Not.

Reallyyyyy good actually! Crisp, animalic, green. Very well blended also. I still prefer Russian Musk II by ALD which is more sophisticated and this is more nature-esque, would place them in the same ballpark. Really great quality

This is everything I hoped Siberian Summer would be. A perfect vegan musk. The forest/Chypre notes are beautiful. The smoky cade note is subtle. All of it comes together in a panoramic visual. Evocative. Lovely.

This is a very good effort for Prin, really good. The synth deer musk is pretty smooth in the right amount with the rest of the composition. Great opening and heart.

I’ll have to keep trying my sample again later but this one smells like his Tom Yum perfume (very green and very citrusy) with pine tree added to the greenness and some animalic touches. I like it but I tend to go more for deer musk (real or not) with either ambery notes or flowery notes. I like green notes more and more lately but they bury musky notes for my nose. With citrus I only like certain types...this one is just lemon I think. But you might absolutely love this if you dig muskiness plus green/citrus western cologne smell. Update: I finally got around to using more of my sample. Basically the main note I smell is the pine tree vibe, and then freshness from citruses and a touch of green. Underneath is a muskiness although I wouldn’t say a deer musk smell is so much the main player here. I have real deer grains and I don’t smell that here...just powdery musk (orris root-ish)...but maybe it’s different on/for other people. It smells beautiful but I would guess that there are a billion men’s scents out there that have this overall fresh pines and citruses cologne vibe...designer, etc.

This smells exactly like almost any temple in Asia. I love the wood. Because of the wood and deer musk, I believe this fits men more then women. Definitely worth a full bottle for me. It's expensive, but one must remember it's for Parfum. The first whiff is strong. After half an hour, it mellows to a nice musk and wood on my skin and is not as intense. This is not for everyone, but it's really nice on me. 14 March 2023: Spray this lightly. It has massive projection.

Very nice piney/conifer scent with a good amount of powdery muskiness and bright lime citrus. Leans more male to my nose. It's pleasant and well blended but I'm not the biggest fan of pine centric scents. If you are, this is a good one. Probably good for most any season. Strong sillage and longevity as well. Another win from Prin.

An epic animalic, green, woody chypre in intense parfum form, summoning the beasts of the dark asian pine forests, with musk, costus, labdanum and heavy conifers dominating. I genuinely wanted to like this more, given how much I love the others in the "This perfume reminds me of..." section, but the synthetic musk in the foreground of Mriga — and I'm probably oversensitive to it — drags the accord in a laundry detergent direction on my skin. Still, there's enough going on here for me to recommend it for sampling, especially in cold weather. Mriga manages to be both dirty and fresh; deep, mysterious, chewy and almost alive.

I originally purchased this when I was trying to track down Siberian Musk by Areej. I since have Siberian Musk and 15 other Areej frags. This is a far cry from Areej Siberian or Russian Musk. It comes across harsh green and synthetic. It is more interesting than pleasant or wearable. I still do like it from time to time, for something completely different. i got a sample of this and i strongly dislike it. wow, dislike it so much. well, now i know that deer musk is really not my thing. lol. like, REALLY not!

Mriga (or มฤค in Thai) is the absolute best synthetic deer musk I have ever smelled in my entire life... . If you are a big fan of Russian Musk (the original one, which is better than Russian Musk II, Siberian Musk and Siberian Summer, IMHO) by Areej le Dore, you would love Mriga. Very alluring natural deer musk; animalic and addictive. . Mriga has much more depth in comparison...it has that lime/citrusy vibe in the background, with humid damp green grass mystique and wet soily & woody notes, which combine to give you an image of a gigantic and majestic wild stag walking deep into a mythical Himavanta forest filled with supernatural creatures. This is the state of the art creation when it comes to synthetic musk...I just can’t believe it is humanly possible to re-create this exact note. Genius perfumery by Prin Lomros. Hats off to him! . Lasts forever on my skin. Moderate and noticeable projection but not offensive. An absolute home run by Prin!

This is lovely stuff, with one of the best synthetic musks I've ever experienced. The dry-down is heavenly because of it. I don't know how Prin managed to pull that off, but he did what no-one else was able to do with his musk accord. This one really makes you feel like you are wading through a thick forest far far away somewhere. It's not a troubling forest by any means, it's just dense and full of wildlife and greenery. I love sniffing this one on my hand, I love wearing it too, however I'm not sure about doing so around other people because it might come across as a bit too strange for their..let's say..more mainstream tastes. This isn't one for the office, let's put it that way. It's smells a bit like Siberian Summer by Areej, however I prefer this one, it has more depth and more going on, plus that musk note is far superior.

Why is civet and castoreum not listed in the notes 😩 Finally thought I could enjoy one of Prins creations with what should've been a woody-witchy fragrance but instead got smacked in the face with a dirty forest animals a**hole. Uggh so annoyed when I test these after a luxurious shower scrubbing every inch of my body to smell like a newborn and then I try one of these stinky ass perfumes that make me smell like a homeless man who has s*at himself. In this case I smell like a homeless man who lives in a tent in the pine forest and uses leaves as a loofah and flower petals as soap in the tourist toilet sink to bathe. Yuck. Edit to add: I clearly did not read the inspiration when purchasing the sample, I only went off the notes listed here so that's my bad. Don't come for me 🙃 xx

Rereview, after 5 months: Green forest, with cut grasses, earthy dirt (peat), and some clean vetiver and oakmoss, yet what comes out to dominate is an aromatic spruce, like a more woody and serious pine, being complimented by a sour lime on a mild warm musk. Very pleasant, but the appeal is in two completely different categories, aromatics and sweet musks, but this does a good job of walking that line. The musk accord here is bluntly synthetic though beautiful, it's mostly a sweet smooth feel with only a tiny hint of fecals, and a lingering aromatic green quality supporting it from start to finish. This is an extremely gorgeous composition. I am a fan of deer musk and this delivers. Synthetic it may be but it’s still very alluring. If you are a fan of Russian Musk and Indolis, you will fall madly in love with Mriga. Overall rating: 10/10
