Nilmalee (นิลมาลี)

I really like this one, Open with a minty indolic floral upfront, can certainly picked up the Jasmine, based on two type of Jasmine I have, this lean toward the Sambac than the grandiflorum. The tuberose is non-issue, not a whole lot of creaminess or buttery facet like the absolute I got from Eden, and tuberose isn't the dominant floral here, while the violet leaf provides some greenness to the floral accord. There are some watery and a hint of earthiness undertone, presumably from the Lotus. The Indonesia and Borneo Ouds are pronounced and apparent from the get-go, they are perceivable but not heavy-handed, don't expect the "Spare No Expenses" type deal here! Prin didn't go bonker in overloading the ouds, the minty note I get is probably coming from one of these ouds. Overall this is an uplifting and refreshing scent profile in a similar fashion as Mandadori Mandadori, medium density and tenacity.

Dark, almost demonic, floral woody musk from the master of strange perfumes. The perfume opens with dark aromatic notes of caraway, cumin, styrax, angelica and spikenard. The floral heart contains violet, tuberose, rose and jasmine. The perfume soon settles into a powdery animalic base of civet, musk root, oud, sandalwood and other woody notes. The slight masculine leaning scent has moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. Like a floral garland for a monster god. Perfume artistry of high order. Wearability strictly limited to those who can pull off this beautiful strangeness. Enjoy!

Floralcy of "white" hyper-impacted by gardenia offers less so "black flowers," i.e. "Nilmalee," but massive, triple-milled Italian soaps, coquette banana custard, and delicate angelica, though it's all for nought, as if Prin's $440 creation knows that deep down you haven't showered in a few days and that brick of soap that's wafting from the bathroom is enough to make you feel clean despite the fact that last night's makeup is caking. Nilmalee transitions into civet and a poofy bed of detergent-esque musks in a strange, overly stuffy way that is unfortunately way too evocative of uppity femininity. Associations be damned, I'm nonetheless left miffed by this perfume, if only because this is all I don't look for in perfume, and I am always looking for a lot.

Nilmalee starts with the green, bright banana like vegetal note, closest comparison i could provide would be Nuit de Bakelite and Le Sillage blank albeit not bitter, maybe towards a direction of Santi Ana. Somewhere there. This stage lasts for about 30 minutes (seems to me that this is Prins style, make perfume smell like one thing for 30mins, and have it change to something else after) after which it slowly transitions from green to hazel to a brown,vintage-ish perfume in style of MKK, Kiehls original Musc and Musk Tonkin. Nilmalee has its own pedigree, i believe its a little brighter than MKK and a little more dry/not as oily as MT but it is undoubtedly that musky, unwashed skin smell i get from other perfumes. Leans more masculine id say, partially because it has kind dry leather effect as well. Projection and longevity are not an issue, itll waft around you all day. It is probably best representative if its genre that i tried, even though i am not a big fan of that genre. Good stuff.

There's nothing demonic nor dark about Nilamlee. I agree with Mak's description of this one. I get pretty much a similar experience. Starts off green, a bit bitter, watery, and goes like that for a good 30 minutes, and then slowly transitions to a creamy floral heart and finally settles into a musky base. Once it reaches the base, after about 2 hours on my skin, it's actually tolerable, a musky-floral with a bit of vintage feel. I don't think it's similar to MKK or Tonkin, for me, those have bigger balls and personalities. This one is kinda muted and boring from start to finish, and although it tries to redeem itself in the base, it fails, especially when considering the price point, and the ingredients used. One of the most disappointing Prins I've ever tried, and I tried all, as Lomros is my favorite nose at the moment.
