Mandarava

Mandarava is a spiritual sacral essence; here, Prin finds a magical composition using some of the most refined elements in Buddhist ceremonial acts. These are all elements already in existence, individually or combined, in these sacred events. Prin can combine them masterfully like a crazy alchemist and deliver something that nobody has ever done before him, at least to my knowledge and at this level, we aren't playing here. The difficulty here is to balance the extremely prominent Champaca and let it be "atonal," yet, even with this darkest undertone, let it breathe with air and composure. The scent of Mandarava is based on champaca, ylang-ylang, fig dried leaves, lotus, and jasmine on top. In the middle, you will find the spices, Cumin and Coriander, mixed into Incense, giving an unmistakable spice shop feel. The end is deep and very balsamic, with the amber, sandalwood, and civet dominating the dry down and never leaving your skin. The drydown is probably one of the most powerful uses of oils in the Prissana series. Even if it is dry, it follows you like a spirit, it is that powerful, and an experience you can have only using pure oils and attars. I admire this scent a lot, but it's virtually impossible to pull it off, as it smells exactly like a real Buddhist ceremony. Perhaps this wasn't created as a scent for any occasion, but as a meditation link between reality and spirituality, an absolute Pillar of "Incense" scent that probably changed the history of this catalog, pushing boundaries that only people who work with these materials can even imagine to create. This is for sure representinga cerimony like nothing I have come across in my life. Prin confirms his immense talent, and this time, he is showing that he has a lot of respect for the Buddhist world. This is a gift to his Grandmother, and is clear he put immense effort to create it. Note: old batches last forever, the dry down lasts 24+h, one of the strongest scents i came across.

Knock, knock, knocking at Heaven's Door... There is one word to describe this perfume: Beautiful It's like standing at Heaven's door, where you can feel the aroma coming from the other side of the door, and having in your mind the only desire to go in, and enjoy there for the rest of the eternity.. To me this is flowers and incense. Flowers here, mainly champaca, feel very natural, with a hint of civet, but not making it animal or dirty in any case, but the other way around, it's kind of soapy. I think this soapiness is due to a incense accord that makes this perfume a juice for the soul. This incense accord is reinforce by some spices, cumin mainly, but again (cumin could provide perfumes a bio aroma) in here is not dirty at all. Using these notes and ending up with this extremely beautiful aroma you need 3 main ingredients, all found in this juice: 1) Top quality natural materials 2) Hi knowledge in perfumery and blending skills 3) Put all your energy and love while creating the perfume It's performance is also kind of magic. This is not laud but very present all the time. It is not bold but has a lot of volume, it is kind of shy, but everybody will notice... seems to be a catty but it's a tiger, beautiful, elegant, secretive but lethal... Originality: medium-high Scent: 9/10 Performance: high (you may think it's not, but it is) Would I buy it: Yes (part of my collection)

July in London 2021 The sun has finally showed its face today. British summer at times is an amalgam of clouds and rain so when the sun comes most of us celebrate. I grew up in S.E. Asia, the Philippines, and the warmth of the sun is something that I do miss now that I am living in London. Fragrances for me has been a great reminder of what tropical warmth is and for me this is well incapsulated in Mandarava, one of the most beautiful perfume I ever smelled and now have. A perfume that grounds and calms me. Great longevity with strong silage. I grew up in a home wherein everyone wakes up to prayers, sandalwood incense burning and jasmine flower offerings. Afterwards, someone might be cooking breakfast with spice, cinnamon. Later on the day, someone hangs fresh clean laundry to be dried under the sun. The amalgam of scents of what I know as my tropical home is skilfully and thoughtfully created by Prin and bottled it in Mandarava. This is the core of fragrances for me, it triggers memories and recreates new ones. Bridging the past and present. I admire Prin for dedicating this perfume to his grandmother. There is no doubting that Mandarava reminds me of my lola (grandmother) too and her warm loving hugs which smells of incense, jasmine, spice and neroli soap. Mandarava smells of home for me and the memories I keep dearly of my beloved lola.

This is a beautiful fragrance which can probably be characterized as a combination of white flowers - musk - resins. It is natural smelling, rich and dense and long lasting. Champaca is listed as a main note, though I get more the impression of a white flower bouquet where it is hard to distinguish the individual flowers. There is a mild incense component and a prominent musk note that becomes powdery in the dry down. If you are looking for a natural smelling bouquet of tropical flowers, this is it. It leans rather heavily on the feminine side, especially with the combination of white flowers and musky powder...so it will probably prove more of a hit with the feminine crowd. Edit after 2 years: The fragrance has been sitting and matured. It has changed in the sense that the powder note is gone and civet has become much more prominent. The final product is thus more of a white flower bouquet + civet/resins, and it has developed more in a masculine direction as compared to when it was new. Which is fine with me.

Mandarava; Parfum Prissana I test out Mandarava out of curiosity, this is another positive for me. This is Oreintal-Floral, it believe there is Flower Bouquet heart combination between yellow / white floral. The color smell like pale yellow to my nose, it is beautiful. Also, lighter than majority of Prin's offering (but not reducing in Longevity). Mandarava is a solid choice for floral amber lover. I really link this to Mandodari, but Mandodari has strong indole undertone. I like the smell, but it is really strong in both Incense and Idolic flower. Denser. Mandarava is quite liter, easier to enjoy imho. 9/10

Not a bad fragrance. It's quite complex. It opens with a strong tuberose... But it isn't overpowering like tuberose animale from HdP... But it is lightened by the aldehydes. That, to me, makes it quite feminine in the opening. It does have an animalic base... But it's primarily a feminine fragrance to my nose. It recalls 80s feminine powerhouses... But with a modern vibe. Worth a sniff for those who would be interested. Great scent... But not for me.

A really unique but well blended offering. Something is so alluring about this scent that captivated me from the start. I think if you enjoy Bortnikoff and Areej Le Dore this is in the same ball park.The champaca note called my name right out of the gate and the rest was history. Notes come and go with great effect. Very long lasting. Happy I sampled this and for me FBW.

#136 in my "Tour de Fragrance" and though it's more to the feminine side of "unisex" I don't mind wearing this one bit, but I would love to smell it on any woman I know. "Heavenly Flower" for sure!!!! This is hands down the best ambery floral I've encountered so far. It is a masterpiece of blending, and I am damn sure buying this for my girlfriends. Wow!

Gorgeous, intensely rich and complex... a meditative, spiritual, sublime scent. It evokes a sacred space, a quiet reverence. Divinely intoxicating. Honey-sweet, incensey, floral, woody, resinous. Grounding and elevating at the same time. It glows in deep amber-gold.

Yes. Smells like paradise. A garden of Eden soaked in sunshine and full of the most stunning flowers and beautiful women... A divine champaca is the big star. The most happy and carefree feeling scent in my collection.

I really love this perfume stunningly beautiful and very well blended reminded me of a night in tropical garden that surrounded by exotic flowers in Southeast Asia.

This is an amazing floral, woody fragrance with incense, it just leans too feminine for me to wear.

A phenomenally stunning Floriental showcasing a lovely Champaca flower note, Mandarava is the reason why modern natural perfumery is scaling to such new heights everyday. A deeply textured shape shifting beauty, this fragrance opens with notes of the champaca flower (prominent), ylang-ylang, aldehydes, fig leaves, lotus, and jasmine. The heart is aromatic spicy with cumin, coriander, ash, incense and styrax. The perfume settles into a resinous powdery bed of amber, tolu balsam, sandalwood, cinnamon, benzoin and civet. The perfume is a tribute to an imaginary celestial place evoked in Buddhist teachings and it does an admirable job of transporting you to a very lovely positive place. pronounced in sillage and projection (a couple of sprays should suffice) and long lasting this is a beautifully blended unisex beauty seems like a gift from gods. A great example of the amazing blending talents of Prin Lomros. Seek it out and enjoy!

Exotic floral bouquet plus strong sweet soapy detergent. Reminds me of South Asia at first. Has a similar detergent-like green florals plus sweet sugar vibe of Amber Al Faransi and some bakhoors I’ve smelled. It later kind of becomes mostly this detergent smell, at least on me, unfortunately. In any case if I want a green plus jasmine detergent amber, Amber al Faransi is much cheaper!

On me this is resinous at first, but it loses that and quickly becomes a complex floral as it dries down, including champaca and tuberose notes, which is a combination I'm not sure I jive with. (I adore tuberose but am neutral on champaca.) Settles down to a floral with fresh spicy notes after 20 minutes or so. I don't get a lot of civet, thank goodness. I like it okay, but it's not as interesting as other Prissana scents, and not unique enough to buy a bottle of for me.

This is a well made perfume that has a vintage feel. It does remind one of a grandmother's embrace. The aldehydes tone down quickly, and the florals left behind are lovely. It's the first perfume of Prissana's that I've tried and already I have respect for the house.

Dark florals that lean feminine...which is strange as usually that would not be that way. The performance is not good and it became a skin scent after an hour or 2. Received as a sample and not bottle worthy imo.

Overwhelming, dizzying, detailed spicy-floral, with such intense headiness that the experience is closest thing in liquid form to being bedecked from head to foot in exotic garlands as thick as your arm, piled up so high your head practically disappears, and then pulled through a whirling, crowded, clangorous festival. For people with synaesthesia (I'm not one, but this scent feels like it could bring it on just by the power of suggestion), surely a dazzlingly clashy assemblage of blooms in crimson red, turmeric yellow, vibrant orange, peach, shocking pink, deep purple - it's all warm (even sweltering) tropicalia in effect, and with further layers spiked with strong spices and no-messing resins to keep the whole juggernaut procession rolling forward. To some it might seem simply like the world's most complicated (and maybe expensive) joss stick effect. Spend more time with it and you could get lost in the fractal, complex mandalas of its overlaid, doubled and redoubled criss-crossing of all those fiery, exotic things. Oud is definitely there, but smothered so deep below the pillows of petals that it is not the jump-scare of other Prin productions. Instead this is really all about the botany - although with enough of a pheromonic, animalic kick from the civet and styrax to remind you there are creatures creeping through the jungle too. Resins surround with a cloud of thick, (maybe choking so some), fuming incense. No question that it can be hard to keep up with - and deserves to be sprayed lightly, as a gentle misting will give you more access to the lighter, airier bits of the marching array. Because my own taste skews more towards simpler concoctions and less to the floral side, personally it's not a must-have from the house, but that's no indication of how you may feel. I can absolutely appreciate that for many people this will be an utter joy to be whirled away with, to access an infinitely richer and smellier dimension than the boring everyday. Despite the profusion of notes and the overall maximalism, this does cohere - it doesn't feel random or unfocused. Everything there is meant to be there, and playing its proper role in the apparent cacophony. Nothing is out of place, or desperately absent - and it does provide hours, maybe even days, of intrigue in trying to pick its mysteries apart. Certainly it's baroque and almost ridiculously overloaded with good things, but rather than coming across as complete excess for the hell of it, there is indeed a sense of sincere - maybe even sacred - purpose here. An opulent and expensive tribute; an offering of the finest things in the universe; absolute celebration of life.

Mandarava is challenging. My initial impression was "head shop" - specifically the rack of cheap pick-your-own incense. The opening is dominated by a huge champaca - which I've always found to be a scratchy, warm, and cloying note. There is also a lot of incense/resin immediately apparent. At the same time, the perfume it most reminds me of is Chanel No. 5 (the EDT or EDC). Mandarava has the same sort of aldehydic floral bouquet over warm, slightly animalic, chypre/woody/leathery base. Manadarava chills out and becomes more likeable as it dries down. It's actually kind of interesting, but not something I'd ever see myself wearing.

Very animalic and flowery perfume by prin lomros very close to other perfume of one of their brands Prin Perfumes "mandodari". Aldehidic opening which mixed with the flowery vibe gives some vintage character which remind yo an over powered Chanel 5. On the base very animalic and resinous notes which makes the perfume dirtier giving to it personality and giving a good performance. I really like although think maybe i would prefer Maai by bogue profumo, similar but more intense. Very close to dighialev by roja too. Scent: 8.5 Longevity: 8 Sillage: 7 Quality price: 5 Versatility: 6 Originality: 8 Global: 8.5

This is not the type of fragrance I would wear as I don’t like animalic nor tropical scents but my goodness, what a beauty! There is no other way to put it: this is sexual. The aldehydes in the beginning give way to such an interesting story on the skin. It smells like lovers in the sun; the remains of the fragrant body oil she slathered on that morning (some expensive, buttery tuberose and champaca concoction she purchased in a resort gift shop) mixing with the sweat and other fluids on her hot skin, unwashed save from their morning swim in the salt waters.

Sadly, I have not had the pleasure of visiting Trayastrimsa - the celestial realm in buddhist teachings that Prin attempts to reference in this fragrance. Yet, this perfume does evoke such images and change your mood. In essence, a floriental. Yes, there are thousands of other options that one could pick if they were looking for a floriental but this one is special. If you like ambery fragrances, rich florals, or Prin's work in general then I am sure this will please you. 100% blind bottle worthy. 8.5/10

Mandarava is a beautiful exotic floral but it does cross my too feminine line in the sand. It has a big dose of tuberose which I don't get on with. This note is mixed in with champa and jasmine and I'm sure other notes. It smells like a deeply feminine rosey cherry like scent. It's captivating and bewitching but I just could not pull this one off or feel comfortable wearing it. Though on a lady this would be stunning.

Smells like heaven. He nailed the prompt. I feel like I’m ascending into a beam of light when I smell this one. If I had the budget this would be my daily driver for summer days. In one word it’s just simply beautiful. If the aim of perfume was only to create a pleasant smell this would already be near the top, it it’s so much deeper than that and this exceeds in service of storytelling and deep cultural connection

aldehyde fruity floral that could be pulled off by the right gentleman. not me, though, it's a *little* too metallic and waxy for mine, but, it is indeed interesting and intriguing. slight fruity/citrus in the background, however, aside from these notes, not enough going on to warrant any subsequent tryings or a purchase of any sort...

I love this exotic fragrance. Reminds me of going to the Buddhist temple with my family and inhaling the perfume of the incense and flower offerings. FB worthy for me just for the religious and divine connotations it holds for me. It's not a safe blind buy so suggest getting a sample first.

Just put this one. So far it smells like the incense section of an Indian store - in a good way. Now 30 min later it is getting a bit soapy. Like Maja.
