Dammuso

Fresh and delicious with some interesting accords. Lime and grapefruit are mouthwateringly zesty but the sharpness of citrus is rounded by subtle, nutty spice and dark, mellow tea. Black currant has a little of a deep minty note that in combination with spicy cardamom and the bitterness of grapefruit creates something akin to resiny pine or basil--interesting. The drydown is warm yet fresh at the same time, like sunshine weaving through a herb garden, dancing close to the earthy terrain and caressing gently sweet woody trees as it wanders. A vivid and energetic daydream where your senses are fully functioning while in a semi-conscious state--luminous, warm and joyous. I'd say Dammuso is a softer, more subtle and unisex version of Hermes Terre d'Hermes and very wearable for both genders. Fresh, dazzling and beguiling.

This reminds me of Sicily and the Isle of Pantelleria - obviously this line of fragrances would give hommage to features of the island. Dammuso is the typical house found in Pantelleria - those tiny houses carved in the stone that seems so primitive, rural but are so facinating... being rock steady and authentic. Dammuso is like that, an authentic mixture of Sicilian aromes, steady, safe, like a stone shelter. Grapefruit...bitter, with berries on the backgound -blackberry is mentioned but to me it could be blueberry as well. Waves of lemons and cedars in addition. Then the drydown is herbal, like origano - a lot! And sets on tons of dry, aromatic wood. Reminds me somehow of Parfums de Nicolai "Vie au Chateau" and "Balle de Match". It's a fresh, bitter scent, somehow deep, mature and serious... reminds you of a sunny but windy island. Masculine, also. Lovely for sure, alas performance and sillage are a bit modest.
