Fior di Pane

Oh. Hi, warm sweet iris. Not the cold aristocrat you usually meet, but a plump, powdered soul, dusted with icing sugar then wrapped in sunlight. She floats on the steam of ozonic tulips and violet leaf, those dewy, green-tinged florals that lift the scent from being a gourmand cliché into something airy, even a little surreal. And then the bread, oh, bread indeed. Not the brown crust of baguettes, no—this is soft, steamed, barely-solid golden pastry. A pillow. Milky almond custard folded into dense, glutinous rice sponge, enveloped in flaky danish skin and garnished with the freshest of wildflowers. After reading one of the reviews down below, god, it really does smell like pandan kueh. That specific warm, sticky, starchy fragrance that fills your whole mouth even before you’ve taken a bite. Not a fantasy bakery. This is so astoundingly real, nostalgic, a heap of steamy comfort in just one spritz. The iris returns, but now she’s lactonic, almost chewy. Woodless yet still somehow grounded, maybe like a cashmere fog. There’s a springtime rainness to it, a floral mist, like eating warm pastries under a sakura tree just as the first drizzle falls. No synthetic sour notes, no play-dough weirdness. Just a dream of starch and sugar and blossoms and wet weather in a bottle. Genuinely. This is art. Art that I cannot even compose myself well enough to amply review, to do it justice. Scent as a tender experience. I can’t stop sniffing it.

Dolce vita in a bottle! I'm utterly subjective when it comes to Profumo di Firenze. I love this house: aesthetic, fragrances, bottles... everything. Fior di Pane was my first PdF, from there my love just kept growing. First note - bread (warm!), irises and violets, crushed violets (because they're very intensive), and powder. First reaction upon spraying - smiling, smiling, and smiling some more. My brain gets overwhelmed with memories: weekend dog-walks, city hubbub, city parks, warm pastries, sunny weather. Springtime. Tasting and buying cheese in little Italian village. Feeling of happiness and a full tummy. Fior di Pane made me fall in love with niche fragrances. Bread and comfort, but also elegance in a fragrance... Big love for me.

Warm, sweet almost plasticky powdery iris lifted by violets, followed immediately by delicious, sweet bread. Fresh pastries with an almond filling and orange blossom icing. The vanilla weaves through it making my mouth water. At a certain point in its development, the combination of notes reminds me of the scent of pandan used in South Asian cooking. Sticky kueh flavoured with pandan and sugar and steamed into deliciousness. The heady scent of the steam rising off rice cooked with pandan leaves, tied in a twist to release its aromas. I’m not qualified to judge Fior di Pane’s complexity or whether it is an incredible perfume. Only that the emotions it evokes in me makes it an essential addition to my collection.

One of the qualities of perfumes is that they bring back memories. Some are personal, others don't give us any sensation, but fior di pane belongs to those that inevitably take us back in memory. The smell of warm bread crust, freshly baked. I,as little girl,went to the local bakery, excited by this small concession of freedom, and I loved smelling that aroma in the air. And I will say more: this fragrance gives a clean, simple and pure memory, thanks also to the Iris which here isolates this combination and enhances it. What can I say, I'm surprised, it's one of a kind and really good. “Basket of bread” painted by Salvador Dali.

I don't know what possessed me to blind buy this but I am so glad I did! At the top I get baked bread, warm from the oven. It does seem a bit disjointed at first but the bread note fades rather quickly and I'm left with the most comforting floral. I get iris, violet, vetiver and tonka and the notes seem to bounce around a bit on my skin, rearranging to create different experiences throughout the wear. At times it feels light and floral and at other times I get a soapiness. This is truly beautiful and I'm curious to try out more from this house as my only previous experience was Buontalenti which I adore.

This one is delicious! It literally smells bread and butter: with tender milky notes and soft powdery undertones. It’s not sweet but still has very edible vibe. For me it’s extremely lactonic scent with woody base and a touch of non-earthy iris. Beautiful! Enjoying perfumes from this brand. Would love to have this one in particular in my collection. Amazing. Beautiful. Just wow. I would decsribe this as a floral fragrance with hints of bread, not a bready fragrance with florals. It took me a few wears to recognize the bread note, I get it now. It’s the smell of the crust of freshly baked sourdough bread. Very sophisticated fragrance, not your typical gourmand. I’m so pleased to have this in my collection.

on first sniff, the bread note on the top of this blew my mindddd. so good and accurate

Fior di Pane serves up a gorgeous, crusty loaf of bread straight from the oven to start. Imagine a pillowy, sweet, carbohydrate laden piece of bread with a crackly golden crust. In the scented air around this loaf of bread are hints of popcorn and also heliotrope. It’s so good. It smells like the bakery of my dreams but unfortunately this stage of the fragrance is very short lived; as the warm and golden bread top notes fade away the heart of the fragrance appears, an aquatic and watery mix of a gentle iris, pale and dewy violet, and thick powdery white musk. It’s a soft and pleasant floral, there’s nothing offensive in it, but it just doesn’t have the charisma that the bread top notes had. I’d gladly trade 6 hours of the floral bit of this for another hour of the bread bit. Anyway, Fior di Pane lasts about 8 hours total on skin and casts a decent scent bubble of a couple feet.

This is the most photorealistic popcorn fragrance you'll ever smell. There's so many fragrances that claim to have a popcorn note but don't smell anything like popcorn and this is literally the opposite. It does not say it smells like popcorn and there's no popcorn note, but it smells soooooo strongly popcorn. Like full european-cinema. It's amazing! Totally worth a try if your interested, I personally love it.

If you ever want to smell like an elegant loaf of bread, like a concha from a panaderia, this exists. It's bready but not yeasty, gently floral, vanilla-ed. This is certainly gourmand but avoids being tacky. A feminine fragrance but it wouldn't be that weird on a man. Probably only good in colder weather.

I agree with a lot of these reviews (popcorn, corn chips, totally get it) Smells like if you put a Ghibli inspired cafe into a candle - good candle smell. I won't be wearing it as a perfume, however.

I sampled this to experience the freshly baked bread opening and it is delicious. I wish this scent had leaned in to the gourmand vibe because the bread note is done so well. I would have loved a wheaty, sweet wood to replace Jeux de Peau! But that’s not the goal here. What exactly is the goal? I’m not quite sure. The “Fior” in this isn’t really apparent, and the “Pane” is so short lived. There’s a little too much going on here. It’s sorta gourmand but also earthy, it’s slightly green & soapy, and a tad powdery as well. It doesn’t quite feel like a scent journey... the notes clash and present themselves together all at once. It eventually dries down to a tenacious green-woody-aromatic. I can see a man who likes bold, 90s style scents wearing this. Not a bad scent, but a bit of a misnomer that is earthy and gruff, not soft and fluffy like I’d hoped.

Okay, in a weird way, this is kiiiind of pleasant. It's part gourmand, part sharp florals. The two don't really play that well together, to be honest, yet the combination is somehow still a treat to the nose. There is a freshly baked loaf of bread, steaming with coziness, that sits beneath a flashy, fragrant bouquet of violet and iris. There is absolutely no way I'm putting this on my skin again, haha, but it's always fun to see what perfumers are doing to try to stick out from the pack.

I had a tester and smelled nothing but bread with some light floral dry down. I bought the bottle and barely smell any bread, mostly just a pleasant soapy, lightly floral scent on my skin. And I definitely think it's pretty feminine. Great price point, pleasant scent, but I don't think something I'll be wearing much. Would love to trade or decant.

Bread? From Italy? No! Nothing like Italian bread, not even easter rolls. This is pure floral. I don't even smell the bergamot. This is violet leaves and tulips. A pure, straight floral and definitely not for me. I will be giving this away to a family member. Very disappointing.

I just tested this.. don't know what kind of weird bread italians have, but this doesn't smell like bread to me but soap. The best I can say it's a nice-ish soapy floral, nothing groundbreaking.

This smells like bread with Iris or Violets. It is interesting but I dont think its for me. Its not sweet or milky, its literal bread note.

Tried this searching for the perfect bread fragrance, but got florals instead. I detect no bread unfortunately.

I get the Cedar, Vetiver and Iris. I get no Bread.

Disappointing!!! Don’t be fooled by reviews saying is smells like freshly baked bread, there is no ANY note like that or if bread smells like Iris , Violet and vanilla to some people well...I bought this perfume because of the BREAD note but can’t find any !!! Still pleasant flower and sweetness bomb leaning towards feminine. It’s just maaahh ...

I hated this. All my nose gets is burnt rubber...It must be that base notes which come across as synthetic and unpleasant. I over-sprayed this, realized the madness which I just did and hopped in the shower to scrub it off. It's too woody and earthy for my liking. I'm going back to Sniff's crumb couture.

It's a NO for me! So granted, this is actually a beautiful perfume to me, but it's also a "changing" perfume to me as well... it's unusual - which I find lovely; but in a tricky way - which I cannot appreciate. The unusual portion is that gorgeous bread, ugh - it smells so good. I thoroughly enjoy that part!!! Along w/ the bread, I also get some sweet, powder-y, florals from this as well. I'm really loving tulip in perfumery along w/ certain violets, and I can smell them both in here!! This part gets better to me the more I wear it, and IT IS lovely! Wish it could stay here... Unfortunately, something alone, or something(s) in combination are also at times creating a CORN CHIP interpretation for me. And that corn chip is a complete turn off. Sometimes when I wear it, I get the lovely side. And at other times, I get the corn chip side - which is tricky to me, but more importantly it's also hurting the experience of this fragrance for me. This corn chip is something I cannot appreciate among the beautiful bread and florals here. It has to be something w/ me - and not the fragrance itself, I encourage you to try a sample of this beautiful bread!!!

The opening is a lot like Un Jardin de Cythere, the same citrus and grain accord, but the citrus note is very fleeting. The grain / bread note lasts I am glad to say and it is joined by violet and iris. It is lovely and powdery and sweet but not too sweet. However it gradually becomes leathery, and in the drydown, leather is the prominent note to my nose although it isn’t listed. It is quite delicious on the whole journey, and sillage is moderate, longevity is about 8 hours. Unisex

This smells like popcorn in the opening. Really warm smell. I am just not sure if i would like to smell like this - it makes me think of a mother of a newborn, clothes a bit dirty with porridge. I would not say it is sexy or sensual. In the drydown it smelled to me as a shaving foam (???) but could just be my skin playing tricks.

I got this thinking it was Buontalenti I’ve had it for a while lol I feel so dumb, anyways lol it’s not a bad scent just not what I was expecting now that I looked up the notes I definitely get the bread note out of the bottle it’s sweet, earthy & a little spicy

I got sweet, herbal bread (almost soapy) in the opening then it gets earthy pretty quickly w/ the cypriol and vetiver. Was hoping for more vanilla or tonka but the earthy grassiness is pronounced.

I was searching for a fragrance with a savory-sweet fresh bread vibe. This is a beautiful fragrance, but it’s not that! I get a violet candy in the top and a floral-vanilla dry down.

The opening it's very off-putting. The mid and dry down are where this fragrance shines

i dont get bread but it's a nice powdery iris if a bit generic. unisex
