Dincanto

Try closing your eyes and imagine a beautiful morning, still sunny and the clouds are still blue, but the air is chilly from 19-20 degrees, 4 pumps open with patchouli but is softened by gardenia and tonka beans, the spicy blend with the rich and sweet. Reduces the overwhelming feeling that patchouli often brings and many people feel uncomfortable or ignore patchouli, that is when patchouli does not have harmonious and supportive companions. You have to wait nearly 10 minutes for the scent to dry and quickly burst out on the vanilla background. Surely with patchouli, the first feeling you get is a very gentle warmth, with the wind pushing the sweet scent to the tip of the nose, not harsh - nor overwhelmingly invading other scents. The spirit of this scent does not create a feeling of stuffiness, but changes clearly after 30 minutes when the tonka bean continues to develop with the cedarwood, creating the feeling that you are moving in a warm stream surrounding you, very bright and airy. Not too stuffy even though the vanilla content is very high; until this scent really fades, the white flowers and vanilla are still very gentle there like rays of sunlight creeping on a sweater. And Dincanto lasts like that on your shirt for more than a day, gradually after the patchouli has faded a lot, the gardenia and vanilla and tonka bean still remain intact. The scent has many similarities to Chanel Coromandel Dincanto is one of the few products announced by Profumum on 5 fragrances, exactly 9, but the success here is that the scent is still very soft and genuine, clearly balanced so that the patchouli is still the main character but not too oppressive and difficult to use.

This smells sooo good.. The first thing I would note before the review, I have Diptyque Tempo and love that fragrance. This does not have any similarity to Tempo to my nose. On to the review. I definitely pick up the patchouli, the non-earthy type, but it doesn’t dominate. It’s pretty balanced with the vanilla and myrrh. I have Ambra Aurea as well, which also has myrrh. They don’t smell the same but I feel like the myrrh balance is similar. I love myrrh when done right, and it’s very well balanced with this and Ambra Aurea. I think the florals add a nice touch, with just enough to help make it more interesting. It’s not what I’d call a floral fragrance at all, but I like when a floral note is secondary and helps with the overall scent profile as it is done here. This one seems like a fragrance that would smell very different from person to person. I think it smells great on me, but would smell great on anyone and take on that persons individual chemistry. In other words, I feel like some fragrances are so strong, or one note dominant that it is likely to smell close enough to the same from person to person. This is the type that gives me a different impression from that kind of fragrance. In general, especially with the ones I own and love, Profumum Roma seems to do a great job with note combinations and ratios, to make notes that are used in perfumery all the time and still have a unique and wonderful smelling fragrance. And this one? Also very well done in that regard!

Now *this* is what I call an amazing blind buy! A boozy mandarin, amber, vanilla and patchouli animal. The opening of this is almost like opening a fine bottle of highland peaty scotch, the fine stuff, then you're immediately hit with Amber-ish, vanilla and patchouli. The Tonka is there, the patchouli, the clean oud, there's a bit of indolic jasmine, but it as well as the myrrh give the Tonka a backbone preventing any sweetness taking over and just balancing it nicely. I'm in 2 minds if this trumps Ambra Aurea or not, it's a really difficult one, I love them both, this is my 3rd from the house, and their stuff is just ground breaking gorgeous, simple yet very deep and rich blends. I will update more as the scent dries down over the next 4-14 hours or so...... Update: it's been several months now, and this is still my 'special occasion for me' fragrance. I now smell hints of cacao, it doesnt smell like a patchouli chocolate, but more of the real nibs, sweetened with the Tonka, I believe this does trump Ambra Aura, purely because it hits many facets, whereas AA is more of an amber beast :)

This fragrance is an absolute beast without a single doubt. I've bought it a while ago and have worn it every season. It is very long lasting, potent but not very versatile in the development. The opening is very strong, as with most Profvmvm Roma fragrances and their high concentrations, but the dry down makes your brain melt. It is the most harmonious patchouli and vanilla combo that I have encountered so far. There is nothing artificial and it smells very rich and deep. The first time I put it on my skin I was quite frankly overwhelmed with the power of this concentrate. After a while I fell i love with this masterpiece - so much that it became my signature fragrance! My colleagues can tell if I'm in the building or not and they are all enjoying the fragrance too. I was able to recommend it to two other people that decided to buy it right after - I mean it is quite pricey, but hey, it is worth the buck! Make sure you try this on your skin and wait until it fully develops . you won't regret it!

#1810 in my “Tour de Fragrance” Got this decant from scentsplit.com. This is certainly a very nice, I would say excellent scent. Good performance. Nice and woody. Strong myrrh. Business wear or dinner date wear, but not casual or club wear. It’s a very well rounded, very classy scent. If you’re happy spending $350 on a scent, you can certainly do much worse than this. But if that’s the kind of money you only want to drop on a scent once, I’d say try decants of this, of Boadicea “Defender” and of Kilian “Smokin Hot” side-by-side before you pull the trigger. For something less pricey there's Mancera "Gold Incense” but it has a rose note that makes it lean more feminine than unisex, so I would not point the guys in that direction. Mancera “Gold Aoud” is also in the ballpark, and nicely woody and leathery, but no incense, and also has that for me an annoying rose note. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

This is among the top few perfumes I've ever smelled. Super well blended. Not quite gourmand, although the dark rich vanilla evokes caramel. The woodiness is warm and organic, not the "screamwood" so often used even in expensive frags. The patchouli is super smooth creating a nutty amber. The gardenia note is subtle and well blended, not standing out especially. One spray is enough to create an all-day scent trail. The strength, sillage and duration are very strong. Comparison to Coromandel is way off, coromandel has a dirty patchouli and fruits that are not present here.

This is a masterpiece and I absolutely love it. The patchouli is beautiful, high quality and aged (I'm a patchouli lover and I can tell) then there's smoothness from the vanilla, lovely gardenia and sweetness from the mandarin. It's perfectly balanced and smells cheerful yet elegant. It's a summer patchouli to me, which is rare. I think that's because of the gardenia. It would be lovely in spring and fall too. The high price tag is unfortunate, I could only afford a decant, which was expensive too but worth it. This is really special, and the performance is phenomenal.

This is sexy, rich and complex, but quite resinous. It is a rounded, orange and vanilla woody floral and I am enjoying my sample. The myrrh adds a lovely incense-like smokiness to it. I have never smelled Coromandel! Feminine leaning.....I will play with this a bit more, but I am almost sure a 10 ml is my next step before I purchase a bottle. I think this is creamy and i like the jasmine which is more pronounced on my skin. Not sure yet if I can handle the resinous woods. Not sure if this is a day scent or better in the evening due to its strength of silage.

Profumum suddenly decided to go from 4-5 ingredients historically to 9 with this one... and it paid off. I LOVE how complex this fragrance is, it develops beautifully throughout... great longevity and projection. It was my first time wearing it yesterday, and i was asked/complemented 3 times... It is creamy, sweet, fresh... then the patchouli, myrrh, and cedar elevates it in a way that is hard to explain unless you smell it. Definitely jumped among the top of my favorites.

After a couple of hours it's only dominant vanilla, which I really hate. They tried to copy Richwood and Coromandel but they failed. For this money Profumum should make an effort. I admit they use quality ingredients but their fragrances are lacking structure including this one- Dincanto. The price is ridiculous, especially the 18 ml size. Fair quality!

Dicanto is an absolutely bewitching patchouli which beats Psychedelique as my favourite all time patchouli. Dicanto is along the lines of Baie 19 and Patchouli Paris but it’s powdery, soft, precious and is a masterpiece.

I definitely see the similarity to Coromandel. I find the patchouli in Dincanto to be a bit more camphorous, which I'm normally not crazy about. It's a beautiful fragrance, though, and is definitely growing on me.

Bright happy mostly natural floral incense. The perfume opens with notes of orange and vanilla leading to a mostly heart comprised of jasmine, gardenia and slight patchouli. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of myrrh, guaiac, cedar and tonka bean. The sweet scent leans feminine and has moderate to strong projection and good longevity. It’s name translates as enchanting and it is a fairy tale like powdery scent. Enjoy!

This does remind me of Sketch a bit. A boozy orange cognac vanilla patchouli beast. If you like sweet orange and patchouli combos this is worth the money. Very sweet though.

great patchouly scent, psychedelique gone mild with added softness and vanillic elements. got almost like a gentle tobacco aura to it

Although I like this in the first hour or so, it is not for me. Too strong in the gardenia/ patchouli departments for my taste.

There are patchouli fragrances that I didn't like --- that were better than this. Meh.

I am a big fan of patchouli usually, but the gardenia or the jasmine in here is doing something funky with my skin that smells off. Patchouli goes well with my skin's natural smell, but this smells sour to my nose. I liked the opening, but then the longer it sits on my skin, I like it less and less.

This is really nice & complex. Not perfumey & on my skin I’m not getting incense or the Coromandel reference. I do get a little spice (I guess the myrhh) & a soft warm (powder? cashmeran?) feel. And I smell the gardenia which I love. I almost smell a little peach too? Maybe it’s the orange combined with the other notes. I think it’s different & intriguing.

Creamy coconut butter, patchouli and soft tobacco. Underappreciated scent from the house, with a more gourmand approach to a pretty straight forward patchouli scent.

Starts out harsh and sharp, almost sickly and medicinal. Smelled it again just now and it’s simply a HEAVY woody vanilla. No incense at all. I...hate it. LOL

I enjoyed my sample, but won't be buying a full bottle as I own Sundowner. It's not a dupe, but there are similarities. Sundowner is more boozy.

@JackieM Check on profumum roma's website. It is still there, why you thought it was gonna be discontinued?

A lighter version of their patchouly fragrance that’s complimented with florals. Nice.

Does anyone know if this is being discontinued? Not sure where else to ask. Thanks
