Dolce Acqua

Sweet marzipan, creamy almonds and powdered sugar. Airy but decadent with the right amount of sweetness. I visited this gorgeous store in Bologna called Virginia 1921 and it was such a wonderful experience--shout out to Virginia for sharing her favourites with me and for helping me find my next favourite scent! I was on a hunt for an almond scent that's more floral and sweet, something different from Chemin D'Amande (which I absolutely adore!). I tried on different scents during my visit and I was so sure that Confetto would be the winner--I even sprayed on skin and walked around the city for a while to see how it would settle. When I went back to make the jump, I had a gut feeling to try Dolce Acqua on my skin, and I immediately knew I had to have it. Dolce Acqua - fizzy coconut and jammy fruits in the opening, with a creamy drydown of dusty, sugared almonds with a hint of rose water. My husband detected a tart cherry note in the opening. Confetto - dry, bitter almonds followed by a creamy jasmine and nutty vanilla base. My husband said it smelled like plasticine/Play-Doh though. Both beautiful almond scents though, but I am glad I went with Dolce Acqua in the end. If you find yourself in Bologna, Virginia 1921 is a must-visit local profumeria!

Man it really surprises me by how inconsistent profumum Roma is with there fragrances. For example, one year they’ll come out with something incredible and out of its world, then the next year they come with out something nauseating, or lame. Anyways with that being said I’ve been curious to get my nose on dolce acqua for about a year straight ever since I fell in love with the “older brother “ confetto, which is an absolute masterpiece of an almond scent. Love it so much it’s arguably my favorite fragrance. I recently purchased a decant of dolce acqua from a friend on Facebook and I’ve finally got a chance to try it! Extremely disappointed, absolutely nothing like its brother confetto. Yes I do get almonds however it’s as if the almonds got mixed with coco butter, tons of tooth aching sugar, and a dollop of icy hot cream 🤮. No one in my family enjoys the scent . Just because you’re a fan of confetto does not mean you will enjoy this.. North Pole vs South Pole. Apples vs oranges. Sillage- 98/100 Longevity- 97/100 Scent opening- 17/100 Dry down- 71/100 ok dry down ain’t too bad but this is definitely better on females

Smells like almond marzipan, coconut scented sunblock and the sweet plastic scent of a vintage pastel pearlescent blue/mauve My Little Pony (more than play-doh)... and I loveeeee that sweet plastic addictive accord so much! It’s nostalgic and sweet but in a supreme refined adult way. Pair it with a Petit Bateau baby tee, 90’s style Levi’s jeans, flip flops, a luxe Carolina Bucci pony bracelet and play “I’m Just a girl” by No Doubt. NOSTALGIC, luxurious and AGELESS! Precious long lasting high quality blend. I’m so glad that IT DOESN’T SMELL LIKE baked goods, tropical, powdery or cherry on me at all like it does for some! I tried it years ago but fell in love recently and will wear it until I’m 100 years old! 🐚 I only have one complaint: Profumum Roma did not make a body oil, a body lotion, a hand sanitizer, a candle, nor a special edition of this fragrance like they did with others and I feel personally victimized because I want all of those and also a hair mist and everything scented possible of this fragrance!

This fragrance has this beautiful, sweet coconut and almond opening that is pure heaven. The first 20 minutes is what I love the most and to be honest, is the reason that made me buy it. There is no other house that makes gourmands like Profumum Roma. This fragrance has a truly edible gourmand smell, starts out with sweet almonds and ends up with lots of heliotrope with the scent of bitter almonds. My eight year old son told me pretty much instantly that I smelled like play-doh, can't really argue with that. It does smell a lot like play-doh, not that I care. The only thing you need to be aware off is that this fragrance is cloying and can be a bit sickly sweet. Maybe not so suitable for work, and please don't overspray, you might suffocate someone unintentionally. One spray of this powerhouse fragrance goes a long way and will last you for many hours! If you want to smell like a bakery filled with almond goods and marzipan, this is what you're looking for! Truly delicious!

Beautiful, I bought a decant and it's just like giakker (reviewer below, great descriptor) described. I will be buying a bottle. When you figure in the oil to alcohol ratio, this isn't as expensive as that price tag looks. It literally was on my wrists and neck for 12 hours and I was getting wafts of the fragrance myself. When my son hugged me he said I smelled really good. That's a keeper for me, 😊. Your mileage may vary, I don't rec blind buying bc almond can go a couple different ways, nose perception wise, and if your not a fan of that it won't be a good deal for you. Also, if you're not a person that likes to wear a fragrance often, then of course the price will be a determinate. I'm weak, I just bought a bottle. I do wish they came in smaller sizes bc it's going to take forever to use this, the longevity on this scent alone would make a 30 or 40 ml bottle last a couple years of daily use.

I noticed the comparison with Etro's Heliotrope on here and I can see the reason. However, this one, unlike Etro's wonderful Heliotrope, is much longer lasting (incredibly so!) And is far more refined, as well as being less reminicent of playdough. I'm a sucker for almond notes and laconic gourmand perfumes, which this one does with the utmost elegance, and the obvious competency of the nose which created it. Bravo! With the creamy, milky coconut and the powdery almond; you will see these 2 notes sensually caressing each other with a sweetened vanilla/tonka harmony. It's one of the most beautiful perfumes I've had the privilege to wear on my own wrist. An immediate purchase for a full bottle, as it's all I ever wanted from a perfume with these notes. From opening, to middle, to dry down... I adore everything about this one. For me, It is the pinnacle of almond perfumes!

I had a candle from Jo Malone, Pink Macaroons I think it's called, I wished Jo Malone made a fragrance like that but alas, can be only obtained as a candle. Here it is and it's just so beautiful. Perfect for those days when it feels I'm swimming to work, it's raining so much the water is everywhere. I also don't need to have a warm body temperature for this to project, which means perfect for this time of year as well when I'm constantly walking around being cold. Hey, Irish winters and buildings are HARSH, this gives me a soft, fluffy, marzipan edge to my life and for this I thank it. I'll let you in on a little secret. Even though this is up there with the best, this is only no.2. Number one is Platino from Omnia Profumo. It smells even more like marzipan but with more coconut. And it's half the price. It will be my pink macaroon HG for winter :-)

This one is beautiful !!!! No cherry-ish smell , no powdery , just almond , vanilla and so creamy . I love it. UPDATE : Now I got the full bottle. The box presentation is gorgeous. At the first spritz , you get a divine smell of a well blended and creamy licor , coconut , almond and vanilla .Nothing has an artificial smell here . What caught my attention was exactly that creaminess , hard to describe , so beautiful , smooth , tender. The dry down is also creamy , nothing powdery , never cloying. The staying power is also great. I totally agree with maelleinrome and if you are a gourmand lover you must give it a try , "bellissimo" .

A delicious and very rich almond confection scent. Perfect for gourmand lovers like myself. It is very long-lasting and dries down beautifully, increasingly smelling like baked goods as it unravels. I don't get any cherry, but the coconut is creamy and the almond is doughy with almost a butterscotch scent. I get no playdoughy feel from this like I do with many almonds. The vanilla is similar to the other vanillas in this line (vanitas, especially). My fiance really likes it. I haven't found anything like this and I really love it, great job again from this line.

Dolce Acqua is honeyed coconut with a touch of cherry and nutty, sugared almond. The coconut is a little waxy, and the almond-heliotrope combo does go a little playdoh, so I agree with the candle description (but in a good way). It’s very sweet and becomes a bit more powdery as it wears. There’s not much metamorphosis with this scent- it’s a straightforward gourmand that has excellent longevity. Profumum Roma uses an impressive perfume oil to alcohol ratio, so it’s one of the niche houses that is worthy of its prices, IMHO.

YESSS!!! It was finally added to the database!!! I was waiting for this... :) This is so beautiful, I love it so much!!! At the first spritz, you can smell a sweet, creamy, so natural note of coconut; after a while, you are embraced by the most wonderful union of almond and vanilla. So sweet, but not sickly, only tender and creamy. Maybe Dolce acqua is what Confetto should have been in my mind! If you like this kind of fragrance - vanilla or almond based - you will surely love Dolce acqua. It's also so powerful! :)

This fragrance is the perfect companion for a day spent under the sun. Reminds me of Yves Rocher Fleur de Noël, a somewhat obscure fragrance from 2008 that I swapped away. In fact, it is the exact love child of Fleur de Noël and L'Erbolario Mandorla. This is what I expected Confetto from the same house to be. A fluffy sugary almond confection with a hint of marzipan doused in amaretto. It is irresistible. It almost knocks Reminiscence Dragée off the throne as my fave gourmand, and that's saying something.

While similar to the other vanilla-noted frags from this house (Vanitas, Acqva e Zucchero, Dvlcis in Fundo), this one, I think, is quite distinct- not only in the coconut-almond section, but also I detect a mixture of vetiver and tobacco leaves- which reminds me of Odori's "Tabacco" very much. Anyway: this one is a stunner- a mysterious gourmand and one of my new favorites from the house. Lasts 24+ hours.

I think this is a great perfume. The sweet opening is very, very strong.. a lot of almond and perhaps some coconut does make it a bit much, but that phase only lasts about a minute. The dry-down is a delicious mix of Almond and Tonka that I like a lot, and literally lasts all day. The price is high but so is the quality, so to me it’s totally worth it, like most other fragrances from this house.

The reviews for this are all over the place! The opening smells like baby powder with a vanilla and cherry- like undertone. It becomes slightly sweeter in the dry down and the almond note becomes more prominent. The dry down is nice! It’s not my favorite from the house, but it’s not bad. Definitely sample before you buy this one!

Excellent, almonds and vanilla shout at you and it is a wonderful combo. Great sillage and longevity, one of my favorites and I would grade this an A. I believe day or night would work and even in an office although a casual environment is ideal.

It's the perfect almond perfume. Not overly sweet, and doesn't cross into amaretto territory. One spray will do just fine, good value. Greatest blind buy for almond fans.

Profumum Dolce Aqcua is accurately, as its name suggests, "sweet water," taking the sweet almond/vanilla mix found in Confetto and instead of making it powdery, it's semi fresh and aquatic in Dolce Acqua. The tonka seems minimal in Dolce Acqua so it's more nutty than powdery. It's sweet, creamy, leaning toward a rich gourmand while at the same time not smelling like baked goods---certainly closer to candy and confection. It's the type of sweetness I find a little confounding, though, as it's quite possible that I'm simply not a huge fan of almond, as I know I love vanilla. I see this, like Confetto, as better-suited for women, though obviously men like myself that like gourmands could easily like this, even though it's not particularly a hit with me. Heliotrope certainly makes this lean toward women, though I find the coconut perfectly unisex. Still, the quality is obvious and it blatantly achieves what its name suggests, a sweet aquatic that is not too heavy. Performance is good, and it has the same standard pricing as other Profumum offerings. Not one I'll likely smell again but it's an honest name and some will understandably love it. 6 out of 10

ANOTHER amazing offering from Profumum Roma. I get the notes as per the table however it reminds me of Atelier Vanilla Insensee which is better. gorgeous blend though it comes across as a little synthetic. At first spray it reminds me of more so Super Sweet Vanilla and clove maybe and after 10 minutes it starts to evolve to a top note with a little bite of almond and more so coconut (with its shell) - at a cursory whiff it passes for vanilla - and tonka. The Heliotrope adds a refreshing airy brightness. Nice for a novelty and delish but ultimately not top shelf for me as a whiff often gives a nice coconut smell with what comes across blended as vinyl sometimes spoiling it... EDIT: After a refresher I found after 40 min the occasional vinyl effect disappears and it smells gorgeous - I'm thinking now Almond butter with coconut!

My initial impression of Dolce Acqua is putting my nose to my wrist and JERKING my head back with my eyes open wide & recoiling in horror. *THE* sweetest, and most bitter almond liquor scent I've ever smelled in my life... and I really enjoy sweet scents. Profumum Roma never fails to make me question HOW sweet perfume can actually get. Ten minutes later into the drydown, it's much more pleasant. Heavenly, fluffy, almond-flavored angel cake! The drydown is all Profumum Roma's iconic "Chapstick" base which makes me want to jump off a cliff. If I could find something that was exactly like the middle part of the note progression, I'd be happy. However, that being said - I *DO* enjoy this fragrance, and you may too! I would categorize this as "Sickeningly sweet", but in a delicious way nonetheless.

Initially it’s like the most delicious pastry you’ve ever smelled wrapped in a thin layer of burning plastic wrap. Eventually that burns away leaving the pastry just subtly infused with the scent of chemicals and also a candied purple heliotrope. It’s kind of luscious but also pretty weird. That middle stage lasts about 5 hours before it dries down into a cocoa skin scent with just the tiniest tinge of plastic. It has it’s quirks but I like it. Really long longevity, more than arms length sillage, I would say it’s more feminine especially in the earliest stages. It’s so unusual it’s hard to pick a season for it, whenever the mood strikes to smell like Baking Barbie I guess. The more I smell it the more I like it.

This smells like a decadent Italian dessert; like a rich tiramisu, with a small glass of Disaronno Originale (amaretto). It's sweet and nutty, with a touch of "Christmas spice," for lack of a better term. I also pick up a dark cherry undertone, which I suspect is due to the combination of almond and tonka bean. There is one note in there that is slightly animalic and off-putting, but I'm not sure what that is. Overall, this is an enjoyable gourmand fragrance for people who like almond and vanilla. I would wear this for cold winter and autumn days. The price is great, considering its strong projection, sillage and longevity (this lasts 12+ hours on my skin).

Opening smells very much like doll in patisserie (plasticky/vanillic), but 10 minutes (and several hours) later Dolce Acqua is all about the nicest, almondy heliotrope I ever encountered; a hint of sweetness on a fluffy, almost edible heliotrope cloud. Angelic and asexual. I really like it, but cannot imagine myself wearing it for various reasons; not into this type of fragrances, not into very longlasting/linear fragrances, not girly-girl enough... But, I wouldn't mind smelling this on others :) All in all - kudos to Dolce Acqua heliotrope.

When I first put some on the pleasure centres in my brain lit up because coconut, almonds & cherries are three of my favourite scents. Unfortunately a few minutes into the drydown I detected a chemical plastic-like odour that reminded me of the australian gold spray on you get in the drug store. Nevertheless it's still quite delicious but doesn't warrant the price. Also, it's definitely more on the feminine side. Try Hilde Soliani's Sipario for a near perfect coconut-based fragrance instead & save yourself 40 dollars.

I do get a very chemically sweet blast of almond essence at the top on the first spray, but the scent quickly morphs into a waxy, powdery, floral bomb that reminds me of Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Oil. I can’t really get past that note to smell the coconut. I wanted so badly to like this one, it was my first Profumum Roma (and it was a blind buy....i should know better by now) but I just don’t care for it. I will try layering it with something spicy and sharp that might help cut through the waxy wall of baby powder.

This smells like marzipan. Sweet almond and vanilla feel, fairly linear but so dreamy and lingering. I also have Hypnotic Poison and Mandorlo di Sicilia by Acqua di Parma, it is fairly similar to Hypnotic Poison but it does not have the mysterious sexy feel to it as Poison does, it is way sweeter and more gourmand too. Unlike Poison, this can be worn during the day and even in the office space. Also, I do not smell any coconut (I very much dislike coconuts) or heliotrope in it. It has zero floral feel.

Sweet comforting gourmand with a slight floral touch. The scent has the smell of a marzipan like confection. It opened with notes of almond and slight coconut. There is a light heliotrope in the center. The scent settles on a powdery sweet tonka bean and synthetic musk base. The slight feminine leaning scent has moderate sillage and very good longevity. Like a trip to a candy store, and especially appealing to those who like their scents very dessert like. Enjoy!

The opening seems a little tropical, probably the coconut and heliotrope. That ends quickly and then you are left with a sweet, but not cloying, almond candy fragrance. Projection on me was moderate, it stayed relatively close to me. Despite being a soft scent it lasts ALL day, epic longevity. A very nice, inoffensive fragrance. Perfect for warmer months or even wearing to work.

Coconutty, thick but silky and sensual creaminess with (medium-)heavy vanillary almond butter. And in this white cream there are some phantom presence of flirty red berry like fruitiness by the cherry aspect of almond. If u are a gourmand addict, it could be nice not just for colder weather ( because of the sweetnes but for spring and cooler summer (nights) also.

I had this one, it hurt my skin so much when I sprayed it on......the scent is lovely, in my opinion but man, I could not wear it because of the burning sensation it gave me every time I tried to spray it on. I had to wash it off, my skin became soooo red after using it.

Smells like cherry blossoms and almond croissants to my nose for the entire duration of the fragrance. (upwards of 10 hours on skin and 24+ on clothes so far) As of right now this is just a solid like for me and we'll see how it develops the more times I wear it.

Super sweet and delicious almond, but the coconut comes off as sort of plastic-y, which is not unusual for my skin. I do really like this, it almost smells like a more almond-y version of the icing that comes in the cinnamon rolls in the pop tubes.

It's like an "eau tendre" version of Etro Heliotrope. A cocktail with coconut and amaretto, softened by heliotrope and with tonka as base. Nice enough, but- true- not groundbreaking.

i tested this last night. it was overwhelmingly Necco wafer candy, baby powder, and plastic. maybe a full day's wear of it will be more accurate.

Very sweet heliotrope, almost like lemon meringe or something. For the lovers of gourmands. Staying power is great!

Dolce Acqua is really lifelike, the kind of fragrance you buy if you want to smell almost exactly like something you’re crazy about in the real world, only refined just enough so it’s clear you’re wearing a perfume, and you haven’t doused yourself in whatever it is the perfume imitates. It’s an impulse I understand, I feel it myself for some scents - a few floral notes, especially, and when the mood strikes even a few gourmand ones like vanilla as well. But I don’t feel it for almond extract, and so Dolce Acqua isn’t for me, especially since it’s so strong - really powerful both when it comes to project and longevity. I do like it, the almond note is really well done here, but for my taste it’s a little too much of a good thing, and so I experience it mostly as too exclusively, heavily sweet. It’s more of an at-home, or maybe outside, scent anyway - I’d never wear it to the office, for example, because no matter how little I mind what others think of my perfume, I have no desire to actively bother them with it either. I’ll try it again in the heart of winter, when it might be more fitting than on this sunny day in early fall, but I doubt I’ll ever need more of it after finishing my little sample.

I adore the perfume mastery of Profumum Roma and this is no exception - but I flutter between ‘love’ and ‘ok’ on this one. My uncertainly is mainly due to the fact that it’s so sweet and I have a low sweetness threshold (with both my food and my fragrance preferences), but seeing as there was no vanilla listed, I sprayed myself once. At first I wasn’t impressed, then the beautiful coconut and almond came through and I was enchanted, so I sprayed myself twice more on my neck. I then went to 2 hours of high intensity classes at the gym and was aware that I was omitting an almond croissant aroma, but it was the comforting-type of smell - a freshly baked type of scent, rather than a synthetic gourmand. As my body warmed up, so too did the fragrance and it became just too sweet. There has to be vanilla in this. That evening, my boyfriend proclaimed that I “just don’t smell like you” (as I traditionally avoid sweet vanilla scents) and that was enough to get me to stop trying to gel with this fragrance. It goes without saying that the quality and longevity is exceptional. For ultra sweet, vanilla/almond croissant, gourmand lovers only.

Blind bought this when I was on the hunt for the perfect marzipan fragrance. This one is the sweetest, sugared marzipan scent. Its light and fluffy, but as with most fragrances in this house, has incredible projection and longevity. This is too sweet for me, even as a gourmand lover. I layer it with Arquiste's Almond Suede for a much sweeter layer of almond to contrast the suede. I wish I could pluck out the coconut note too.

The opening is a burst of sweet cherry almond and heliotrope. Then after a few minutes the sweetness softens and gets plasticky. It starts to smell like Malibu Barbie melting in her box, sweet, powdery, and slightly disconcerting. The coconut makes it a little beachy. Also, smells like a coconut chapstick at times. The dry down however is too heavy on the melted plastic and becomes all I can smell.

The top notes on this are amazing and made me grab a sample right away. Unfortunately the drydown is vanilla scented air freshener with rancid undertone.

Holy coconut! I had really been hoping that, by testing more expensive vanilla-based scents, I would find a few that work better with my chemistry, but no, that doesn't appear to be the case. This opened with a charming sparkly/fuzzy note of heliotrope and some almond, which lasted about a minute on my skin chemistry. Very quickly the coconut note emerged and drowned everything else out. As usual, the coconut note was sharp and almost plastic on me, but I understand that's just my personal chemistry. Unfortunately, it was the only note I was left with and it was overwhelming. I felt there was some tonka in the background, but it was not easily identifiable on my skin. I really had to sniff for it, and that gave me a headache, considering I was smelling mostly sharp plasticky coconut up-close. For anyone who loves vanilla-based fragrances and can wear coconut notes well, I highly recommend trying this one!

Does the almond note in this perfume smell cherry-ish? Is this perfume powdery at all? UPDATE 1/14/12: I received my sample of this and I am so disappointed. I had high hopes for Dolce Acqua because luckyscent's description sounded so delicious. Unfortunately, the opening smells *just* like cherry chloraseptic spray on me. Ack! It brought back bad memories of being sick and having to spray that stuff down my throat. The dry down smells like pure suntan oil. Confetto (Profumum's other almond scent) also smells like suntan oil on me. Too bad. I will stick with Lea and Jour de Fete for my almond cravings.

Profumum Roma is my fav house and notes in Dolce Acqua are one of my favourites too but still I didn't like this perfume. Opening is quite awful in my opinion. What I get mostly is that waxy, honeycomb, honey and plasticky smell. Underneath that I can smell other things that I like but that waxy smell is dominant here. When it comes to dry down it got better but still it's a pass for me. I'm quite baffled how I get that smell from those notes that I really love. Almond is my number 1 fav note. I tried Dolce few times on different weather conditions and no...

The description of this scent sounds heavenly and I was dying to try it. Almond and coconut gourmand? That sounds like something I would love. Unfortunately, on me it's all plastic. I feel like my arm is a roll of vinyl that's off-gassing like crazy. I get a bit of the same note in Confetto, a bit of a plastic toy background, but it's not necessarily unpleasant. This is just too much. A lot of people like this and I really wish I could smell what they're smelling.
