Eccelso

This house has been getting a lot of buzz lately and deservedly so. Profumum Roma has a high quality product and they don't have to work hard to sell it. It sells itself. The first fragrance I purchased from this house was Eccelso and I was expecting to be let down honestly because I had seen people bashing it, no reviews of it up on Youtube (which I recently rectified), and I had yet to find a fragrance which did sandalwood so well. I may be speaking a little boldly here but, I think I may have found it. Performance is as follows: Scent: When I first got the bottle, I could smell it before I had even put the atomizer in. For those who are unaware, PR includes their atomizers separately in the packaging. It comes with a black screw on cap along with a mini-funnel and a vial in case you want to decant some for yourself. Back to the scent. I could smell it and I knew I was in for a treat. It had almost a gourmand-like appeal, yet there is NOTHING gourmandish about this fragrance. Period. When I first sprayed it, I was instantly overwhelmed with the sandalwood front and center. The nutmeg and magnolia join shortly thereafter. The combo of Sandalwood and musk create almost like an incense vibe. It's the best way I know how to describe it. It dries down to an incense/sandalwood mix and lasts for quite a while. Rating: 9/10 Projection: If you guys know Profumum at all, you know what I'm about to type. INCREDIBLE projection. Out of this world. Beast mode. It's very very strong. Do not overapply this or you WILL get a headache. Guaranteed. It leaves a very heavy scent bubble. Rating: 10/10 Longevity: Lasts easily over a full day and if you spray it on your clothes you'll smell it after a washing. Guranteed. Rating: 10/10 Final Rating: 9.7/10

I am a female and I have to have it. I tried to tell myself that I didn't. It's been over a year and I tried it again. Realizing how much of an idiot I was for not purchasing. This entire brand is special. If you don't agree, like they say... You can't fix stupid. How much more can you ask? The highest quality ingredients. Lasts forever. Highest concentration. Superb package design and bottle. Excellent sprayer. The fragrance itself is fantastic. Not too much, but what fragrance notes they do give you is perfect. Conscious design intentions. If you don't get it you're never going to get it. That's why people who collect this brand say they are the best. The company itself are independent and are not ran by a big design firm. Family ran. Integrity. Does not advertise. Does not give out samples. Doesn't need to because they know word of mouth is so strong. This particular fragrance is sexy in the clean and simple sense. It does something to me. Because I actually have taste, I would pick this over any mainstream trash from Sephora any day of the year.

Eccelso haunts me. It's the one thing I have to have but the one thing I cannot bear to articulate. First time I smelled it, my first reaction was that it smelled masculine. I kept it on and over the course of a couple hours I started to get attached. That's never happened to me before. I even said out loud that it smelled masculine. I am a female in my mid 30s and have always been a pretty feminine woman. I like to smell like a typical Young girl with flowers and vanilla etc. So why do I want this? I even started to visualize purchasing the fragrance. That's when you know and I tried to deny it. What a waste of time! Anyway. As I pop the cork off my brand new bottle, I suddenly become aware of my new generational debt and start to seizure when I gaze into my destiny of my retirement age being around 85. I ask myself is it worth it? I don't know. I don't know dammit. That's what drives me crazy. Every time I spray it I say no, but it drives me even more crazy knowing I didn’t have it in my Collection. I hate my life.

SUPREME signature fragrance 🔥👑♥️ The issue with the Citrus heavy fragrances is, they're gone in 15 minutes. This is not. Here's why. While the "Designer Labels" keep pumping flankers like crazy, there are a few fragrances noone has ever heard of or taken notice of. This is a signature fragrance for you Bleu de Chanel loving, Son of a Taylor wearing, iPhone15 pro max enthusiast. It's summer in St. Tropez, Manhattan, Caracas. You feel the urge for something unique. You browse thru Tom Ford, Creed (the latest Aventus flanker is a joke!!), Dior, Maître Parfumeur et Gantier. STOP scrolling, get yourself a boottle of Acqua di Sale for the beach and Eccelso to make it a killer summer night. Vibrant, fresh, room filling signature fragrance. BOSS mode on. Fresh, Vibrant, extremely long performance, becaue it doesn't rely on the all so wonderful Bergamot, but it's rather woody, a little flora and amazingly heavyl and very elecant. Just awesome for those special occasions. If you like my thoughts hit the 👍 button.

Profumum Eccelso is a great blend of bergamot, sandalwood, nutmeg, and musk, primarily, with some other supporting characters of patchouli and labdanum. Mainly it feels like a variant of Creed Original Santal or Montblanc Individuel, a versatile (gender, occasion, season) winner of all sorts. Very sophisticated and fresh yet spicy and interesting with the sandalwood standing out most of all, as in the other fragrances. Eccelso is also strong on performance, as most like myself expect of the Profumum brand. While more expensive than most Profumum Roma offerings (at $290 for 100ml, whereas most are $250 or $265), there's nonetheless a case to be made on the superior performance of Eccelso to merit more consideration than a mainstay like Creed Original Santal, which itself isn't a bad performer. OS is still much cheaper by volume ($150ish for 4oz on FragranceNet, 8oz flacon for $280 on FragranceX) but I imagine Eccelso may strike a chord with someone who admires its superior performance. 8 out of 10

This Eccelso by Profumum is one of my most favorite scents. I wear it frequently (right behind Coromandel by Chanel). I read other comments first before I posted and was very intrigued by how everyone described different scents arising on their skin. For me, the first to hit me is beautiful magnolia and I'm a huge fan of magnolia, so I get right in that heaven spot! Right underneath that tho is the sandalwood and musk-which keeps everything sweet, powdery and woodsy and beautiful (my favorite!), but there's also something a bit animalistic behind the scenes, which doesn't detract from the beauty of the magnolia/sandalwood/musk but gives it a nice edge, keeping it from becoming too cloying. It's got everything I love in a scent...and if you like that particular blend scents, then you'll find this one gorgeous!

I've tried this a few times now and I have to update what I originally wrote here. This is a very classy, clean and subtle fragrance. I don't own a full bottle but I'd definitely spring for the $240. A 3.4 ounce bottle would last nearly 2 years and this is high quality stuff that lasts on the skin. This has a cool, watery woody scent, sort of like an oriental style fragrance but there's something there that takes it in a different direction. Maybe it's the floral note or the touch of patchouly. This matches the aesthetic of a well-dressed, successful man who knows what he wants and doesn't make excuses. Cool and woody, but not necessarily a dry wood. Very, very nice. I'm on my third sample vial.

A lovely old world Oriental fougere that needs a classy confidence to fully appreciate. Like most Profumums, the note structure is deceptively simple. The perfume opens with notes of bergamot and magnolia moving to a heart of labdanum, nutmeg and patchouli. The perfume settles on a base of beautiful Mysore sandalwood and synthetic musk. The slightly masculine leaning scent has moderate to strong sillage and excellent longevity. This scent is inwardly beautiful, and therefore really needs a higher spiritual elevation to fully appreciate. Enjoy!

Aromatic fougere is how this fragrance is described and that's perfect really. What I like about this is the use of magnolia in what is a masculine fragrance. Not a typical use of magnolia and not really like any magnolia note I've ever smelled to me this smells sweeter a bit more like jasmine. It's elegant and delicate a mix of nutmeg, sandalwood and musk, Eccelso is another no brainer for me...I love it! I think there's a hint of vanilla in here...definitely, it's sweetening things up. The dry down is long and just an absolute pleasure.

It isn't feminine at all. The more u wear it the more it becomes u. Now. I know that was so cliched and trite but I mean it and have never said that about any other frag but Amouage Gold Man. Truly wonderful along with a similar one called Arso. In fact I will go on to say Profumum is the Italian Amouage. They are close to being on a par with Amouage. A very elegant, sophisticated fragrance that wears well. The sandalwood, mush and nutmeg make a great combo. This is not beastly like many others from this house but is no slouch either. Wearing this, I feel like a million bucks. I won many from this house and each new one I try amazes me. There have been only a few out of their entire collection that I did not like a lot.

Very masculine, clean and versatile yet a bit dated, I just don't find anything special. Like Kouros and Azzaro, it reminds me of a man in his middle age, a successful man in a suit driving a porsche but stuck in the 90s in the fragrance world. If that's your thing then go for it, I like my fragrances a bit more alluring.

Really like this number. A very nice aromatic wood scent, a very slight bit of patchouli. Sophisticated but not overbearing. Pleasant for the fall.

Like Victrix, one could easily miss this gorgeous bottle. So, so easy to wear, lasts forever without breaking apart. Highly recommend

Aromatic fougere?! I'm scratching my head over that categorization. This is a floriental. For me, the initial effect is very "shimmery" with no sharp peaks. Like fog-coloured fur. The languid, intoxicating presence of magnolia (and perhaps tiny touches of tuberose, orange-blossom, jasmine?) is at the core of this composition. The citrus note (bergamot) is so subtle- pared down to a gentle, almost imperceptible fruitiness- a bright streak skirting over the surface of the fog- and is that immortelle? This florid pillow rests upon the (yet-more-intoxicating) floor of labdanum, patchouli, tonka, white musk, and sandalwood- musk being most-prominent, sandalwood next, the whole base a reflective "moon" to the magnolian sun. They are lovers... and slowly she outshines him, and it approaches night. The effect is strange and captivating and what I imagine a luxurious opium den of old to be like: breathe this strange perfume, and you have no choice but to lose yourself in reverie and relaaxaaation. 4 hour mark: still going strong. Wore it running a few late-night errands- it's a head-turner, more like an eyebrow-raiser; it gets attention, and mystified looks. "Elegant and nonchalant. Walking through the vernissage’s crowd, a haze wraps him and attraction renders him even more mysterious than what he seemed from far away." (-from PR website) I agree. Update: lasts 24H+

Very likeable. The "main accords" list on top here is bang on. Woods, florals, musk, powder, and a hint of citrus. I also get a slight Bay leaf note. It's soapy clean, with woody notes on top, and a slight metallic note underneath. It's great. I get a short moment of "Reflection Man" in the first minute or so. Not enough to say it's reminding me of it, as it quickly turns into a more floral and powdery fragrance. But still notable. Perfect for work, a relaxing day, going out, a date, formal occasions or mostly any situation where smelling clean and fresh is a good thing. I'd almost call it a generic scent, but the quality is clearly beyond a generic fragrance, so it feels wrong to call it anything but spesial. Any time, any where, any occasion, all year, unisex. This is a "dumb reach" when you still want to smell spesial and be remembered for smelling amazing. Exceptional longevity and strong sillage. personal score: 9.25/10. It doesn't quite reach the legendary score of 9.5 or more, but it just smells So great, and the versatility is undeniable.

I have to disagree with some here. I find this sweet and I don’t find this a strong floral tho the magnolia is the main scent. It is subdued the bergamot barely noticeable and not acidic merely a soft compliment to a powdery musky magnolia that is diluted and made blurry in a welcome sense by the sandalwood, nutmeg and labdanum. Classic Profumum in that it is exceptionally well made and deceptively complex despite the simple performance. It’s not a scent for me tho I can very much respect it and those whom like a lightly presented but strong perfume of Light floral, oriental, Spicy and Fougere in nature should give this a go. In a rare instance I can not decide whether this is purely a female scent because of the Prominent light floral inclination but there is just a tad of darkness that would make it wearBle for men however this is really only detectable nose to skin so I guess this is mostly for the ladies and worn maybe by the bravest of men...

Sampled this on skin, and loved it immediately. Almost decided to buy it. But it was bugging me, it was either familiar because of a sense memory, which is what I thought at first.. or because of something similar. Then hit me, it smells exactly like Creed Himalaya. I bet this lasts way longer knowing this House and longevity reputation, but Himalaya came out a few years prior and is one that I already love. I can’t get this one due to that, and am actually disappointed that it’s so similar to an existing fragrance. I doubt it was intentional, so not really THAT irked, but it was a letdown. Crazy how hard it can be sometimes to realize right away that a frag smells like one of your favorites, the brain plays tricks though when trying things out for the first time. Very strange. On to the next PR sampling...

Profumum Roma is one of my favorite houses. I like Eccelso but I don't love it. And here's why: On me the musk note is dominant and as a result it has an "old man" feel too. Granted, I am an older man (47) but I get older man (65-70) from this. Don't get me wrong this fragrance is clearly of high quality but the vibe doesn't work for me. It's musk in general. When it stands out, I step off.

High quality musk and sandal wood fragrance. I really like it but I am not sure if I would buy it. As a big fan of sandal wood, I have nothing against it but it seems a bit sweet for my tastes. In a way it is similar to AdP's Sandalo (which is one of my all time faves) so I'd stick to it.

Very similar to Cristobal Balenciaga's cristobal pour homme. Eccelso is a bit less sweet and less pronounced. Where Cristoba takes more of a direction, Eccelso smoothes all notes out into a warm, lush, slightly green aura. I just got it, but my first impression is good! 7/10 so far.

100 %Axe Marine.The price is the only difference.Not worth the money. Profumum is a pure disappointment.

Eccelso is a beautiful powdery, dry, dusty sandalwood with delicate florals and a slight metallic ashy lead pencil note which reminds me of the same sandalwood as used in Santalum. I don’t know why this is listed as a man’s fragrance as it’s clearly unisex thanks to the gentle, powdery florals. There’s a cold, white ash scent that’s metallic and almost like a floral electrical fire which I don’t like. Eccelso shares the same smokiness as Arso but Eccelso is a dry, bitter, white-ash kinda smoky with a sour tang of office supplies.

It is very refined, elegant and inoffensive. Projection is medium but longevity is really good. It is very similar to Ramon Monegal UMBRA, with less citrusy structure.

This is not a great Profumum fragrance. So much potential, but in my opinion it has a lot of rough edges. Smells like (I would imagine) stale cigar smoke on an over-perfumed hooker. There’s also something very bitter underlying the sandalwood - perhaps the synthetic musk? I will grant that the sillage smells *ok*, but up close it’s a headache inducing mess. If you’re going to spray this one on be prepared to have cigar and hooker screaming off your skin for 12+ hours. Love the house, but this is probably my least favorite of the 14 or 15 I’ve tried.

It's difficult for me to say that I don't care for a Profumum Roma fragrance because they are all so well made, but this is not one of my favorites. I can smell this on an older, very dapper European gentleman, but it's not a fragrance I would characterize as modern. I love florals, so it's not necessarily the florals causing this effect. It's the florals combined with the sandalwood and musk. It just smells funereal to me. Pass.

There is nothing unisex about this. Eccelso is a very straight forward masculine sandalwood and nutmeg fragrance with tea-like bergamot opening supported by a fresh magnolia note. Nice, but nothing that I find particularly compelling.

Strong florals, like surprisingly strong, overdose! Reminds me of rive gauche pour femme for some reason even though they don’t smell that similar and it’s fairly mature. Basically a Magnolia bomb!

Don't think I've ever seen an irrational buying habit so honestly twisted into so many words as Nessers has done below. Great job...anyways this is fine. I get the magnolia and it's coming across kinda weedy and sour. Like resinous, wet wood with floral nuances. I pick up a good deal of nutmeg and labdanum next. It's there that it starts to feel familiar in the vein of other sweet-spicy woody perfumes for men like Costume National Homme for instance. Resinous, slightly sugared base with cool spices on top. The floral part is nice but it feels a little rough around the edges. Like a wilted set of flower petals that aren't exactly fresh. I could be wrong but I've found magnolia perfumes can lean in that muddled-aquatic direction.

A NIGHT AT LINCOLN CENTER Got tickets to the NYC Philharmonic? A few sprays of this elegant fragrance and you're all set. My initial reaction was a bit of disappointment. Too floral. Mind you - not as in 'this is for women' type of floral. Perhaps a better way to express it - 'too perfume-y'. However, my slight disappointment gave way to complete enjoyment. Soon enough a beautiful sandalwood (and other less obvious notes) harmonized with the floral to create a sophisticated experience. Might I say this fragrance sparkled and danced off my skin? Yes, indeed. Avery Fisher Hall here I come...

Very heavy on the musk. The other notes help smooth out the musk and make it a bit more round, soft and sweet, but musk is still the one note that stands out to me and dominates the fragrance. Since I'm not a fan of musk, that means that this fragrance just doesn't really work for me. It's possibly one of the most pleasant musk-focused fragrances that I have smelled, but there's still just too much musk for me. One of very few Profumum Roma fragrances that I don't enjoy...

I bought this in Rome last summer. Spicy, aromatic, earthy vibe with a little bit of floral and citrus to soften it up. I get a little bit of musk but mostly sanadlwood & patchouli. Fragrance is medium sillage & medium longevity for me with 4 sprays on my arm. It's a nice classy fragrance but I'm glad I didn't buy the full bottle - I bought the travel size atomizer from the store for half the price.

A soft sandalwood accompanied by nice touches form the other notes. But definitely woody focused. I think this would be a nice comfortable wear. I think the wood is more prominent in the opening as the dry down is very nice blend with the florals, musk, patchouli and touch of spice. For me, the dry down takes this from ‘nice’ to ‘I like it it’.

This makes me giggle as its smell reminds me badly of Joop! Homme I have to admit that it is much more sophisticated though but the basic concept is the same. I would not recommend it for shy or tame people as you will definitely get noticed around wearing Eccelso. You gotta release the tiger in you while wearing this!

I got a decant of this, just going by the notes. I love it, it is fresh, warm, and has a brightness to it. This is the first time I have jumped over the fence and worn a fragrance designated for men. It works on me. I was worried about the nutmeg, but it does not stand out, it is very well blended.

Scent - musky patchouli & sandalwood. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night. Projection - I didn't get noticed, I didn't get a compliment. Longevity - I get 8hrs consistently.

From the sample, it seems quite perfumy for a masculine fragrance..i wish the musk note were more animalic/prominent.

Smells like a high quality urinal cake in the men's bathroom. A niche version of Cristobal pour Homme.

All I got was powder. Like Secret deodorant. Very feminine.
