Ichnusa

I love photorealistic scents so this was huge yes for me. It opens up green and sharp, like fig leaves and myrtle shredded in a lawnmower with grass. It's intensely green, like in your face wow green. During the opening is when I can smell each note most clearly. The fig leaf, stems, and branches; myrtle; and grass all collide in a vibrant cacophony. Fresh and intense in the most natural way possible. After about 30 minutes to an hour the dry down kicks in and the myrtle / grass elements back off to amplify the fig. Here is where I smell warm hay and a slight milky greenness of unripe figs. The fig scent of Ichnusa is not sweet or fruity at all, more like the dusty (slightly starchy?) green smell of an actual fig leaf set on a backdrop of a beautiful green menagerie. Extremely photorealistic. It does lean a bit masculine, and a bit male fougere from the 90s, but it's so masterfully blended that I don't even care. Only downside for me is a short period of time (2-3ish hours in?) where it starts turning a tad bit soapy on my skin. I hate soapy fragrances (ironically one of the only few things that can make a perfume a scrubber for me) and I still love this perfume. The soapiness is slight, only only lasts a short period of time, and I absolutely love everything that comes before and after. On my skin this stuff lasts a really long time for such a fresh, green fragrance. From beginning to end Ichnusa lasts a good 6 hours before becoming a skin scent, and I even find the skin scent pleasant. I think layashokravi was spot on in their comparison between Ichnusa, Philosykos, and Jo Malone Green Wheat and Meadowsweet, but Ichnusa is definitely greener than the other two, plus a bit of spicy woodiness. (Philosykos leans slightly sweeter and more lactoninc while still capturing some of the photorealistic green fig leaf elements that really shine in Ichnusa; and Jo Malone leans harder into the photorealistic hay / sweet grass elements while eschewing the fig altogether.) To be clear, each of the three are really different from each other, but I find the way the shared notes are executed-- the photorealistic quality of them, specifically-- really unique. If you find Philosykos too sweet/milky or subtle, and like green fragrances, then I'd definitely give this one a try.

Essence of deep, dark green: an oasis of natural shade to cool off in during the hottest, driest, baking-est days of the year. If you seek a gentle, milky fig then THINK AGAIN: I came to this looking to replace my fast-expiring L'Artisan Caligna, but this is definitely not tailored for that - it's something very different, and arguably better. This is all about trees and leaves, no fruitiness, and it's bracingly astringent at first, when the myrtle kicks in with a sharp slap of almost-bitterness, - almost pine essence - nearly verging on notes of wormwood or hemlock. But soooooo refreshing and botanical and natural it can almost make you hallucinate the dark-green foliage of a grove shimmering in the midday heat. Magically strong and true to life. Gentles up a little later, with hay and figleaf notes swelling to make the overall effect a bit milder. Unisex, though tending more masc than I thought it would be - though gender is irrelevant here, as it's about wanting to hug trees rather than other humans. It's a private idyll. It doesn't last forever - the forest spell is largely dispelled by 3-4h, though it lingers much longer on skin as a tang on the breeze, still giving occasional wafts of sap, resin and leafiness as late as 6-7h onward. So purely green that it's really made for summer and spring; might seem a little too austere for colder weather. But undoubtedly, its stellar reputation is earned: for everything there is a season, and for summer this is sheer seasonal perfection.

When it’s been unrelentingly hot and dry, as it has been on the east coast of the US this summer, finding a perfume I can wear out in the heat becomes more challenging. The last thing I want is to smell of goopy cloying sweet or sweet and fruity. So this perfume was perfect when I had to be outside at a winery on a 96 degree day for hours. It is bitter, it is green and it is so invigorating. It’s a dry bracing green not a juicy green, and I detect something slightly marine under that as well. The marine quality is similar to that of Acqua di Sale just much less pronounced. During the dry down that marine effect softens a woody base and there remains the green notes, but again they’re softer. The overall effect of Ichnusa is energetic and natural. If you’re a person that likes bitters in other contexts during hot weather, for instance bitter cocktails, this could be for you. And although it is bitter for quite awhile I would still call it perfectly unisex. It’s lovely. I have Debaser and one advantage I find to this over that for public use is this is much less apparent and abrasive in its first few hours on the skin. For a bitter green fragrance ichnusa is kind of a people pleaser.

Ichnusa is my first to try from Profumum Roma, and what a good place to start. It is a photorealistic fig scent, radiant and green, resembling the whole tree. Fig is one of my favourite notes, evoking summer memories for me. Here it is green and leafy, pulpy and juicy, and fresh and herbal in equal measure, anchored by a grassy, woody base. It is less sweet and lactonic than Philosykos or Debaser, instead with slightly sharp, herbal green notes. Ichnusa opens with dewy, sap-like green notes alongside juicy fig, making for a radiantly fresh and realistic fig opening. It becomes richer as it progresses - slightly jammy like the whole fruit, but without losing its greenness. Some dry woodiness creeps in, which, alongside grassy, herbal green notes, makes for a fig leaf effect. It becomes softly woody as it fades, with green fig remaining until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. The figgiest figgy fig tree scent, Ichnusa is a beauty that must be smelled by all fig lovers. It is unisex, and is made to be worn in spring/summer. This could give my beloved Philosykos a run for its money. A fig tree, bottled. 5/5.

I love fig scents, and probably own too many, but decided I had to buy this one as soon as I'd sampled it. Why? Because on my skin, it is an exploration of a completely different aspect of fig. My other fig fragrances are milky, coconutty, fruity, jammy, boozy, or slightly green, and I love them all for these different facets. I love Ichnusa precisely because it is not these things. To me, Ichnusa is deeply green, woody, dry, slightly bitter, and unsweetened. It is not a gentle, romantic fig. This is a young, unripened fig, along with its broad leaves, thick stems, and woody branches. It softens over time, but never loses its verdant aspect. To me, this is an utterly unisex fragrance. I have yet to find another fragrance from this line that I like (and to be honest, some I find just awful), but Profumum did a masterful job with Ichnusa. If you like fig scents, you owe it to yourself to try a completely different side of this note. If you are a fan of green scents, you will likely love the interplay of fig leaf, grasses, and sharp green myrtle.

Ichnusa, the name given to Sardinia by ancient Greece, literally meaning "footprint of Zeus." My fascination with this island dates back to 2012, and since then I have been searching for a perfume that takes me back every time I smell it. First, I went looking for ADP Ginepro Di Sardegna, a quest that ended with finding a tester bottle the store refused to sell at the time! But the similarities to the next find were striking: Creed Royal Oud. This reminded me of inland Sardinia in summer, the warmth radiating from the cedar trees. But my hunger was not yet satisfied. The penultimate find is a love-hate relationship. Masque Milano Terralba, pure niche with a strong curry tree note. A perfume that is simply not for beginners. And then comes the final perfume in my search: ICHNUSA, and for me, this is the ultimate perfume that reminds me of Sardinia every time I smell it. Looking at the sea, from a hill or mountain amidst the local vegetation, with a wind carried inland from the sea!

I bought a decant last year which must be from an older batch because I just bought the fragrance (the batch code says 2022) and I have been comparing both and it's not quite the same. The opening is very similar, super green and fresh but my decant is a little woodier, and the 2022 bottle is greener (which I love). But the real difference is shown in the dry down, after 2-3 hours...Why am I getting a sweet smell in the 2022 bottle whereas the decant stays green with a beautiful myrtle note? I am not a huge fan of the sweet accord. Is it fig? Or is it another sweet note? Not sure but I prefer the green side. The fragrance has been reformulated and this sweetness is not what I was looking for. So buying decants first is not always going to guarantee you made the right choice. Edit: I didn't mention performance, but it is bad, especially the projection. Longevity isn't amazing, especially for a highly concentrated and oily fragrance.

In the cap and bottle this smells so strange, like balloons?, it really changes when it touches skin. There it begins with a faint pear candy, then wet, juicy, sharp fig leaves. Very direct, very forcefully a leaf scent. Beautiful. After a minute or so I feel a bit of tart fruit - maybe a green apple? Not a sweet fruit at all. Then a litte while later a small bit of a white flower appears - I guess that's the myrtle, but I could not identify how myrtle smells tbh. But this is a tragic love story. It's exactly the fresh, bright, crushed leaf scent of fig tree that I was hoping for - and on my skin it seems to last for about 30-60 minutes before disappearing completely 😭 With a neutral oil underneath the life is extended a tiny bit, and on textile it lives a bit better. But unfortubately the short life does not justify getting a whole bottle.

Profumum Roma will bankrupt me! Another stunner from that house which I have to have. Ichnusa might just be the best fig leaf scent for me. And there’s more to it. It has fig in the notes but to me it opens very fresh pine but manages not to get into the ‘toilet freshener’ territory. It’s sharp and potent leaning masculine but that’s first 30min or so. Then it becomes fresh pine/fig with creamy strawberries on top - on my skin. Don’t ask how...this scent is magic. It’s creamy on the dry down, fresh throughout however, and softer than initially but it projects. I get whiffs of it all day. Ah-mazing! Edit...don’t even get me started on what happens when the sun hits the scent sprayed on my arm, warms it up and becomes absolutely unbelievably refreshing creamy juicy fig/strawberry/pine deliciousness. Wow just wow. Full bottle worthy.

Green , Fresh, Lovely fig they say... Mission accomplished, well... I got some help, but I am so happy ! By my local lake there is a lot of pines and when going to this lovely beach in summer, sun is heating the fallen pine needles from last year and make a delicious smell ! I've talked with several parfumistas in many Years to find this awesome smell in a scent. The great and certainly intense and skilled on his duty parfumeexpert at NK perfume Stockholm, just picked this one for me on an instant, when telling him my cravings. He told me pine doesn't smell by itself and to get close, you have to go for fig - leaves and fruit. Now this Profumo has more of a cool wind coming over the lake pine, but together on my hot skin it's the closest I've gotten so far! Thank you for finding it for me NK Parfym , Stockholm. A fig scent so realistically green it's like crushing fig leaves between your fingers and having the sap and juice run down your arms. It has an astringent quality to it, the kind that is present in unripe fruits and will leave a furry taste on your tongue and stick to the back of your throat. Ichnusa is simultaneously tactile and gustatory: an instant and complete botanical amalgamation with the Ficus Carica a la Daphne with the laurel. This makes all the other fig scents, from Phylosikos and Premier Figuier, to Ninfeo Mio and Ashoka, seem like mere custardy dessert with token garnishing of figs. If you're tired of coconutty, creamy, lactonic fig fragrances and just want to have a handful of bruised greens in your face, Look no further. A totally underrated and undeservedly ignored fig masterpiece.

Super, ultra, mega, insanely loved this! I'd been too lazy to try it because I already have so many fig-focused perfumes but this scent is a wonderful thing with a minty freshness and a watery feel! One of the most beautiful forms of green. Full of happiness and peace. This would've been an instant full bottle buy, but the comments below scared me... There are people mentioning it's sweet enough to put you in a sugar coma after the reformulation. My sample lines up perfectly with the older reviews, sugar-free and refined. Even in the drydown it's calm and fresh. Looks like I'll either hunt down an old batch or make do with what I have :) I also came to another conclusion from this: I need to focus on myrtle. this is the figgiest fig leaf scent i have ever come across, to me fig leaf smells like paper a little bit, and this one captures that aspect perfectly. this is not very fruity, and i can't say that it's very green, but it has an unripe fig ooze smell. it is quite dusty, it spreads in ur throat almost, it's very expandable. to me it's the same style as philosykos and debaser, but amped up on the fig leaf. i can imagine it will be wonderful to be layered with a subtle citrus or a tea scent specially given how oily this thing is. it is quite linear imo, but on the dry down for a split second i was able to smell beyond the fig leaf, i think the hay make it smell dirty but the other herbs and the grass make it "fresh" as in freshly-cut fig leaf, yet not green.

In English. I'm from Aydın, Turkey. The place where the most figs grow in the world is my hometown, Aydın. Icnusa really gives the feeling of green and dusty figs. There's also the feel of the salty sea breeze, the flowery countryside in spring and a bit of soapiness. It is peaceful just like having a picnic in the Aegean countryside on a sunny day, like a white linen shirt and a spring breeze, like drinking sweet white wine under the trees. Masterpiece. It is an office friendly fragrance but I think it would be excellent for especially weekend daytime outings. Performance is monstrous for a fresh fragrance. It is unisex for the first half hour and more soapy and masculine after half an hour.

In Turkısh/Türkçe Ben Aydın'lıyım. Dünyada en çok incir yetişen yer memleketim Aydın'dır. Icnusa gerçekten yeşil ve tozlu incir hissini veriyor. Ayrıca tuzlu deniz rüzgarı, ilkbaharda çiçekli kırlar ve biraz sabunsu hissiyat da var. Güneşli bir günde Ege kırlarında piknik yapmak gibi, beyaz keten bir gömlek ve bahar esintisi gibi, ağaçların altında tatlı beyaz şarap içip biraz kestirmek gibi huzurlu. Başyapıt. Ofis dostu bir koku ama özellikle hafta sonu gündüz gezileri için mükemmel olacağını düşünüyorum. Temiz ve özenli giyim ister ve açık renkli kıyafetlere çok yakışır. Ferah bir koku için performans muhteşem. İlk yarım saat unisex sonrasında daha sabunsu ve erkeksi.

I've been on a fig bender lately and I have finally found the one. Most fig leaf perfumes have a lovely opening, but turn soapy after an hour or two on my skin. I love the coconut of Ninfeo Mio and Philosykos, but am lost in a sweet sea of bland vanilla soap smell all to quickly. Ichnusa takes me right to a fig tree, somewhere with a salt breeze rustling the leaves. Fresh broken new growth green that stayed true for almost 4 hours before drifting quietly to a cozy, sun-warmed skin scent. Skin that got a touch too much sun, wind and saltwater. I could easily picture this on a man. For me, I feel like Diana, tracking something quiet in a grecian wood.

I love fig and fig tree smell from the moment I smelled it in the nature travelling around the Greek islands: it is green and dusty, uplifting and comforting, relaxing and fresh. I will always remember the smell of the fig tree in the heat of the day during hot summer days, especially combined with the smells of herbs and plants growing around and mixed with the fresh salty sea air. Ichnusa is all about the green fig tree - its branches and leaves. Settles herbal, greenish with a kind of nettle note. Natural, uplifting, relaxing like being close to the sea, under the fig tree in hot weather.

Seven hours later on a hot summer day and amazingly there's still a trace of this glorious perfume on me! I was hoping that I'd be unable to find yet another composition by this house that I liked, but unfortunately I find myself falling deeply in love with Ichnusa! [sigh] I'm trying not to think about it... but it's so evocative of cool, green, Mediterranean woods! Update: bought a bottle, and I simply love wearing it- the atmosphere it creates is beyond compare to any other "green fig" out there, and is always eliciting compliments!

Just discovered this & sometimes this is what I want on a scorching hot day- something super green - not sweet - but dries down clean and fresh. The opening is bitter like a bush has been trimmed, or the grass cut, but there is the fig note too. Different from Diptyque’s Philosykos, another fig forward scent, but this one is not powdery to me. I never smelled anything like this, so I bought a full bottle. The SA warned me that it is very oily and not to spray on delicate clothes, or it will stain.

As a fig lover, I had it on my wishlist for a long time. It is figgy, but to my nose it is very fresh, almost minty, from the myrtle. The fig stays close to the skin, the myrtle is prominent. Good for summer. It is really oily so be carefull spraying it on clothes. I love that the bottle comes with a little roller bottle you can fill for in your handbag, so you can reply when you want. Wished it holds longer because it is a lovely fragrance. But then the little roller comes in handy!!!

I like fig fragrances since they perform well in a hot and humid climate. Ichnusa is centered on fig and is a 'green' fragrance. It is rather bitter which to me smells like grapefruit. Thus to my nose it is mostly a fig-citrus/grapefruit fragrance. I see that the notes include myrtle, but I have to say that I am not familiar with how myrtle smells. The bitter greenness evokes a mediterranean feel. Perhaps a Greek island or Sardinia. It is completely unisex and moderately long lasting.

Oh man when you put this on it is like you are snapping fig tree leaves. Its bright, green, and crisp. As it dries down it loses the bright green and picks up more of a smooth dusty feel more like you are snapping the fig tree. On my skin it has more of a hay quality while it remains bright on my clothing. Definitely spring summer fragrance. I would say you could wear this anywhere although it has a casual lounge feel. Perfect for reading outside in a hammock.

Gorgeous natural herbal green scent. Like most of Profumums scents the note structure is quite linear and simple. Fig leaves and wood, hay, grassy notes all topped with a dash of myrtle. The result is one of the most photorealistic experiences of walking in a fresh grassy field on a dewy Spring morning. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and excellent longevity. Absolutely breathtaking in both its simplicity and its evocative power. Enjoy!

This stuff is incredible - the greenest, freshest scent I have smelled so far. It's beautiful. I tried a few of the Roma range - not all were hits with me, I didn't see what they were trying to achieve. But this... this is going to be my "Amalfi" coast scent for sure. Fresh figs, green leaves, deep and luscious, longevity, happiness, sunshine, health, freedom and an ocean breeze tousling your hair... It's good, good juice... 10/10

Latest fig obsession. Clean fig men’s body wash. Very Myrtle opening that brings the green minty freshness that I feel comes off in the shower gel department, but love it. Great for layering with other figs. Great layer with house by zernell gillie and fave layered with dandelion butter by clue to increase dandelion butter’s longevity. Makes me feel luxurious every time I wear it.

Ichnusa came out before fig became a trend. Aside from Philosykos, there wasn’t much like it at the time. This is fig leaf, green, herbal, and grassy. Almost ozonic. No cream, no sweetness. No one’s hugging in this one. The green here isn’t thick. It doesn’t sit heavy. Most green scents feel dense or humid. This one stays open.

Simply gorgeous. Ichnusa and Philosykos are the best fig scent in the frag world, but while the first one is wild, greener, pure fig leaf and myrtle; the second one is more fruity and creamy, woody in the drydown, with a beautiful touch of fig leaf at the opening. IMO both of them are masterpieces.

Incredible fig leaf, very green fragrance. This has been my favourite summer find so far. I find myself reaching for it during the peak of summer heat, and it provides such a nice relief throughout the day. It also lasts the whole day on skin, roughly 10h longevity for 30 degree weather.

Figgiest Fig to have ever figged. SUPER green. I get lime zest immediately on the opening. Some underlying soapiness. Rich family lounging around on their boat in clear waters. Gives off an untouchable vibe. Lasts much longer and is much fresher and figgier than Philosykos.

My first real fig fragrance, and what a knockout. This is great, geen and pleasant and fresh. Good for warm weather, day or night. If you want to smell fresh, this is it. Noy a sexy fragrance so maybe not on adate night. Another great one from this excellent house.

green-leaning fig perfume of dreams. fig leaves and hay and vines. there’s a fruitiness to this but fig isn’t the star of the show, it’s within the woodiness and the grassiness as you’d expect to smell it standing in a fig grove. zilch longevity, however.

One of the best fig scents out there - nothing to dislike about it. It is timeless, green, strong and long-lasting. Philosykos is still my number one but this one is close. In the dry down the myrtle references Aqua di Sale which is a big plus for me.

Easily in my top 5 for spring along with Nio, Silver Mountain Water, Royal Water, and Guerlain pour Homme EDP. Dewey clean green morning feel is a great way to describe it. Rich and fresh. Great longevity without ever being overbearing.

I've been sampling a lot of Profumum Roma fragrances looking for some nice freshies.... and this one to me at first was like "wow, nice" in the opening and "ok" in the drydown. But my wife smelled it and she absolutely loved it, says it's the best thing she's ever smelled on me..... which was really shocking because she doesn't like anything on me lol So I gave this another sniff but this time with a full wearing... 6 sprays... and yes the opening is great still.... and the dry-down.... it's growing on me.... The myrtle in this is quite strong.... I could smell it from my sample of Aqua di Sale since that's really all these 2 share in common as far as notes. I liked Aqua di Sale more than other synthetic marine fragrances (kalone/ambroxan) because Aqua di Sale smells natural but it was too much for me with the seaweed. Ichnusa on the other hand is much more pleasant and gives me the same "sea side" vibes but way fresher with a slightly medicinal eucalyptus type scent. I wish it had something more to it to make it more interesting. But it is fresh... the wifey likes it... and it does have some pretty decent longevity given the scent profile. So I'm warming up to this one. Will wear it one more time before I decide if it's full bottle worthy or not. For now I'll give it a 8/10.

Reviewing an official PR sample from 2025. Ichnusa was launched in 2001. This is now an overly sweet rich fig fragrance. ? Diabetic death by reformulation. Ichnusa is a fairly linear fragrance. It is all fig - the fruit, the tree and the leaves with grassy and a bitter notes. Camphorous and resinous. This is all good .... however a significant sweetness has been added which I find doesn't blend well with the fig. The sweetness settles after awhile but then so does the green freshness. I am suspicious that this has been reformulated as older reviews indicate no sweetness but my sample is definitely insulin worthy syrup. Quality- good 3/5(fig excellent; poor blending as is too sweet) Unisex Performance- 3/5 good but not like my older PR frags Ichnusa is a pure fig fragrance with the bitter edge taken off by a sweet accord resembling a candied fig. I thought I would love this based on older reviews but it has been ruined for me with a sweetner overdose. I wish PR would stop with the syrup - their fragrances are so much better without it. Personally, I like my figs green and bitter, blended with appropriate citrus, woods or florals to balance them such as in Debaser, Philosykos and Un Jardin en Méditerranée. 7/10

Ichnusa has been high on my test list for quite a while: I love green scents, and fig leaf in particular is one of my absolute favourite notes, so this note pyramid looks truly dreamy to me. Expectations as high as that are dangerous, of course, so now that I finally got my hands on a decant I'm relieved to say that in this case they were met, on the whole. It really is as green as it gets, which is a delight, and it's very natural as well. It's not a juicy green, though - I associate it more with the dark greens of high summer heat than with the fresh light green of spring, and there's some aromatic and almost salty sweetness to it that gives it a slightly masculine edge. Which is undoubtedly very nice, and no one but a perfume hoarder would be this hairsplitting about it, but still: I think I do prefer the spring green variety of green scents for myself, on the whole. I'll use up my decant of Ichnusa with pleasure, but my favourite in this genre remains Molinard's Fleur de Figuier (the blue bottle version) - which has the added advantages of being a lot cheaper and lasting a lot longer as well. The same goes for Jo Malone's Wild Fig & Cassis, which this also reminds me of a little.

This one opens wildly green – like, seriously intense. It’s not just fig leaf territory; it’s like snapping a fig tree branch and getting that sticky, amber-coloured sap all over your skin. That raw, sappy greenness takes over your senses completely. As it dries down, things get richer and deeper, but still very green and herbal – not even a hint of creaminess like you get with something like Diptyque’s Philosykos EDP. If Philosykos is soft-focus fig, Ichnusa is fig in high definition. It’s got way more punch, more presence, and definitely a spicier, more aromatic vibe. In my nose this is completely gender neutral but quite mature. Honestly, it’s stunning – but use it sparingly. A full spray too many and you might overwhelm the room. It clings to you, in a good way if you’re into bold, green, spicy scents... but maybe not for the faint of heart.

Profumum's Ichnusa marks the celebrated house's try at a green fig scent, something I've only experienced in D.S. & Durga's Debaser. Fig remains a challenging note for me to enjoy, so I try to be especially patient with it, and Ichnusa does a nice job with it, the best that I can tell. As with most of Profumum's offerings, Ichnusa is fresh and smooth, conjuring a natural-smelling blend of aromas rather than something that is clearly meant to conjure fantasy. I don't detect any specific notes apart from a general fresh greenness accompanying the fig. Ichnusa, like most of Profumum's even warm weather offerings, performs well, as well, especially with respect to longevity. It's not likely one I'd buy but I'm pleased with it. 7 out of 10
