Meringa

Profumum Roma Meringa is an exclusive release for Osswald (of Switzerland and NYC) released in 2015 and is based on the concept of the meringue dessert dish, commonly understood in the US via lemon meringue pie. Meringa, in contrast to that pie, involves vanilla, tonka, jasmine, and not lemon but rather orange blossom, so while it’s nonetheless a creamy, sweet, citrus blend, it’s a different citrus from what I’ve recently been accustomed to in Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche and Dua Fragrances Vanilla Lemon Gelato. Meringa is certainly quite refined, and smoothly blended, as neither the sweeter vanilla and tonka nor the sharper floral, citrus orange blossom dominate the other. The inclusion of jasmine does help this in leaning slightly feminine, though I’d argue it’d lean feminine even without the inclusion of this note. For me, orange blossom is always a more feminine alternative to standard citrus (bergamot, orange, lemon, grapefruit) ingredients that are more wholly gender-neutral. Performance is impressive for a conceptually “light” (even a dessert) fragrance, so with respect to both how it projects (with only one small spray on each arm, in my case) and lasts (it doesn’t stop kicking for hours). Still, I overall prefer the lemon fragrances mentioned above to Meringa, not to mention that they’re substantially more affordable, as Meringa has the standard Profumum Roma pricing of $250 for 100ml EDP. 8 out of 10

WOW. I really love this scent. I bit the bullet and blind bought a bottle due to the exclusivity and limited make of this scent, SOO glad! A gourmand, sweet, but at the same time..this is a floral. The tonka bean is definitely noticeable, and gives such a uniqueness to the scent. Supposed to mimic a Swiss dessert meringue, but don't be fooled into thinking this is the US lemon meringue. It is NOT like that. It is quite sweet, a citrus orangey almost lemony, with creamy vanilla, jasmine and tonka bean. It sweetens and gets more creamy as it wears and melds on your skin. Great longevity on me. Lasts well over 12 hours. I like it WAY better than Dulcis in Fundo, which I find has an odd/strange note. Plus Dulcis is not as sweet nor is it as gourmand as this. Meringa is unique on its own. I think you need to like tonka bean, it is noticeable and adds a hint of that typical tonka note (but I wouldn't call it exactly smokey or hay like) to the composition of the fragrance. I got TONS of compliments wearing, everyone wants to know what smells so fresh but yummy. *** Meringa is straight up a very citrus sweeeet scent that is orangey/lemon/vanilla. Not similar to Vanitas. this is MUCH more a VANILLA BOMB. Not similar to Kerosene's Unforsaken. NOT even close to Ylang in Gold or Ylang in Gold Nectar. NOT even remote to Casmir.

I might have found my favorite perfume from this house. Its a soft airy vanilla with sandalwood, with some light orange blossom undertones. It is reminiscent to Ylang in Gold by M.Micallef Nectar. One of the complains I have that it really doesnt last long, I can smell it of my shirt if I put my nose to it, but its pretty much fully gone off my skin after 4 hours, yes it lasted only 4 hours, if i put my nose to my skin i can smell sandalwood. Second complain is the sprayer quality, its very cheap looking thick tube inside the bottle and sprayer is super cheap quality, spritz aggressively everywhere. Cheap designer fragrances have better sprayer. When I pay almost $300 USD id love to see quality in everything juice, bottle, sprayer, packaging. Overall if you love powdery vanilla sandalwood like Ylang in Gold or Roja 51 pour femme, this one is a must try from this house. So far I have 4 from this house and even though performance isnt great I really do love and enjoy Meringa the most out of 4 fallowed by Vanitas.

This is a simple rather lovely vanilla based perfume. The perfume contains (like most Profumum offerings) only three or four really discernible but very natural smelling notes. In this case, it is a central vanilla, surrounded by citrusy orange blossom, jasmine and tonka bean. The smell is supposed to replicate the popular Swiss dessert meringue. Unisex (feminine leaning)!with moderate to strong projection and very good lasting power. Unfortunately a bit too exclusive ( exclusive for Osswald) and too pricey for what it offers. But those into soft florals or vanilla based scents will find much to love here. Enjoy!

I heard of this brand with their scent Gioiosa but not this lovely scent until I came across Genre Parfums with their version called Ambrosia. I am in love with this scent! I would love a sample and Scentsplit.com is my go to but unfortunately they don't offer this one. I will wear Genre's version gladly until I am able to get a sample. I love to layer my scents and this is a winner with BSB's Sweet thang which is an original scent of theirs. To me this leans more feminine but I would definitely love to smell this on a man!
