Oxiana

The ultimate souvenir from Rome. Interesting, yet well behaved.

For me, it starts off with clean, piney-soapy top-notes, but these subside within 10 minutes revealing something quite different: an intriguing heart of balsamic resins, earthiness of patchouli (but not pronounced!), and a floral- giving lightness- which I cannot place, and a touch of cinnamon, perhaps? White musk in the base, I think. I am not sure of anything I just typed. It is definitely unisex, and a tad too 'clean' for my taste, but I find it pleasant. It is like a calmer, more-serene Thvndra. Ah! Lavender... :-)

Quite nice actually but not FBW. A very explosive opening, reminded me of the 80s! SodaStream, Play-Doh, Star Wars figures, Cola Cubes, Jawbreakers... Then it reminded me of a shoe shop, the smell of a new pair of shoes being opened for you to try on, a box fresh smell, rubber plimsolls, new tennis shoes, school kit bags... But it very quickly faded away to a skin scent, just slowly died away to very little. Pleasant but not enough sillage or longevity or change.

Oxiana opens with an original and interesting mushrooms growing in a damp basement note and then transitions into a more refined, dark, musky, woody scent. I guess its patchouli, though I would have guessed something more along the lines of virginia cedar. Strangely though I love myrrhe, I couldn't detect any on my skin (none of the sweet, bitter or smokey aspects). Few women could pull this off IMO, but those who could would be the baddest b*tches around.

Sweet woody scent which has a confection like smell. The main ingredients are a woody mix of cedar and sandalwood. There is some cinnamon at the top and the base is vanilla and tonka bean. The sugary unisex scent has moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. You will get compliments for wearing this from many, although it is nothing that exceptional in the excellent Profumum line. Enjoy!

Insane longevity. Could smell it after 11 hours and even after my sweaty training. Magic? Even though the smell isn't the best I haven't made up my mind about its rating since I only used it a few years ago before I got interested in fragrances.

I noticed that there is just one review about the 2016 reformulation, so here is my impression. According to the booklet that I have been given in the official Rome boutique in Winter 2018, the new notes are: cinnamon, tonka, sandalwood, vanilla, cedar. I have a rather different perception. Oxiana is weird. At the beginning the only note that I could detect was cloves. In time - 1 h in circa - cinnamon adds to the mix, and something sweet and warm kicks in as well (this is probably the Tonka bean and the vanilla, but I cannot really distinguish them: I can only detect a sweet-something underneath the cloves and cinnamon). I smell no sandalwood (a note that I do not like at all), nor cedar. Ultimately, Oxiana is a rather sweet and delicate interpretation of cloves (mainly) and cinnamon. Not a fan. Projection does not seem exceptional at all, and I put on something like 5 or 6 sprays.

This is from a decant. I don’t like this stuff at all. It is very mild, yet unpleasant. I get burnt plastic and cinnamon. Fortunately with little to no projection. I am looking forward to no longer smelling like this. If you are looking for a decent fragrance that has cinnamon notes save your money and go for CK obsession for men. Fantastic performance, it smells really good and it is so inexpensive that it is practically free. This? This is nondescript dreck.

35)Oh this is weirder of all. From the beginning to the end it's all about mushrooms. It has nothing to do with the components listed. The openning is a strange dark and very (very)wet undergrowth. You have your basket and you reap many mushrooms then you go home and you cook your stew. Even after half an hour there is no evolution. I still smell like the old smurf (Schtroumpfs, Puffi, Pitufos, Schlümpfe,...)

Interesting scent... I'm having some difficulty picking out specific notes, except maybe a hint of cinnamon. It's rich, a bit sweet, almost a little tangy, while also kind of floral. The overall scent reminds me of violet-flavoured candy. Something gives me a sweet and slightly dry tea vibe which reminds me of the Imaginary Authors fragrance O Unknown. It's more or less unisex, but probably leaning feminine. So far it's one of the more different and unique Profumum Roma fragrances that I have tried. It's not really for me, I definitely won't be getting a full bottle. But it's for sure an interesting fragrance. Smooth and pleasant. BTW, the notes listed here seem entirely wrong. According to the official website the notes are Tonka, Cinnamon, Vanilla and Cedar.

This perfume is a journey through shapes and colors: an enveloping, mystical blend where cinnamon, initially powdery, mixes with the sweetness of vanilla. Warmth on the face, the smell of spices in the air, a wonderfully addictive fragrance with its softness, peculiar and that I really enjoyed. For me suitable during summer evenings, outstanding on warm skin.

My first impressions were of a masculine-leaning woody iris composition along the lines of The Different Company’s Bois d’Iris. When I read the listed notes here I figured I bought a mislabled sample. Then I read that a completely new formula had been released and the notes were pretty dramatically different than the original. Gone is any earthy “mushroom” scent and now Oxiana is indeed a Dries Van Noten-like powdery sandalwood scent. It’s like a masculine, “blonde” woody oriental perfume.

My experience was already summed up by Nosey49 so I won’t write too much about it. There is a phase between the abrasive opening and the soothing dry-down, where I am reminded of Idole de Lubin. I like Idole, FYI. For those who are familiar with Ponds talcum powder: the dry-down of Oxiana reminds me of the Sandalwood “flavor” of Ponds talcum powder A LOT! I like the dry-down.

Chemical plastic smell takes a few minutes to burn off, but then it's a woody forest scent, with loamy cedar softened a bit by the other notes into more of a pressed wood incense cone, but still very woody. Warm and smooth, but dark and woody with that forest-floor hint at the back. This would be great in fall or at Halloween, but not loving it right now in spring.

What a puzzle this one is. The top notes are abrasive to my sensibilities but I can detect something nice underneath. It takes FOREVER for this to reach the basenotes but when it does, the wait is well worth it. Wonderful smell, great sillage, and tremendous longevity.

A fantastic scent.It starts with a mushroomy breeze of Patchouli,then settles to a warm neverending myrrhe. This is a summary of a genius fragrance. I can't live without it, and it was love at first smell.

Scent - sweet powder musk. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the colder months, at night. Projection - I didn't get noticed, I didn't get a compliment. Longevity - I get 12hrs consistently.

This has been reformulated. New notes are: Tonka, Cinnamon, Sandalwood, Vanilla & Cedar wood!
