Vanitas

This is my holy grail vanilla scent - and I wasn't even looking for one! It's become one of my top-tier favourite perfumes, and no other vanilla scent belongs to that category. These 4 notes.... I smell each of them. This is a trend with Profumum Roma perfumes for me, that I can detect each note. I purchased the body oil "olio di corpo" from ebay, one third full. It is the most luxurious body product I've ever owned. The orange blossom is very prominent to me, and it mixes with the other notes to create a liquid red gummy bear aspect. The feeling I get from Vanitas is the feeling I would expect to have if I could truly get drunk off candy. And believe me I've tried throughout my life to get drunk off candy, time aplenty. It's that good, intoxicating. It is vanilla cake soaked in Cointreau. When I wear Vanitas, people are always hugging me! And... I'm hugging them! I don't know what it is about this scent... so touchy-feely! One of the best things about the oil is that *it rubs off on people* who hug you! Then you can smell it on them! The gift that keeps on giving. More about the oil: There is *no way* the perfume can have more sillage. I am a candy cloud.... 14 hours later when the scent still hasn't died down I can say it starts to make my head spin! So be sure to stay away from hugging married men. I hugged one, someone I really like who I used to work with, before a show I was in. At intermission there was a woman in line beside me at the bar, staring with a certain amount of surprise and worry, possibly irritation. After the show the two of them walked past me - she was his wife, and he definitely smelled like Vanitas! And before I realized it I thought, "oh my god, he smells so sexy!" But I don't know, maybe I just had a waft of my own scent, and maybe his wife just didn't like my clothes or hair or something. I was dressed in a bit of a costume like an equestrian (minus the helmet) that night after all. Do wear this to a birthday party! Do *not* wear this to work in an office.

Absolutely freaking delicious, it's so yummy that I just wanna lick it off my skin whenever I wear it! It's a very gourmand vanilla, very warm and creamy, and the orange blossom brings a slight citrusy vibe that makes this smell like a creamy lemon vanilla dessert, or lemon toffee, or something. It's quite thick and cozy, and I'll say it again: so delicious! While it surely is very sweet, it's surprisingly not cloying. It's quite intense though, so don't overspray. Less is definitely more with this fragrance. The longevity is insane, and in the drydown as the orange blossom subsides and the myrrh becomes more prominent, the scent becomes more resinous and thereby also more unisex in my opinion. This fragrance is apparently meant for women, but even though it's so sweet and delicious and would be wonderful to smell on a woman, I think the subtle sandalwood and slightly resinous myrrh definitely make it unisex. At least if you're comfortable enough in your masculinity to pull it off. I mean, I definitely wouldn't call this masculine, but I'm sure the ladies will just want to eat you up if you smell like this as a man. It's seriously the most delectable gourmand fragrance I have encountered. I just love this fragrance. So warm and cozy and comforting. BTW I really don't understand the "doll head" or "rubber duck" thing that people keep talking about in some of these reviews... I don't get any such vibes at all. Nothing rubbery whatsoever, just delicous, resinous, vanilla cream dessert all the way.

I'm absolutely obsessed with this scent! It's like the perfume equivalent of treating yourself to the fanciest dessert ever, but without the calories. The moment I spray it on, I'm hit with this amazing vanilla smell. We're not talking about your run-of-the-mill vanilla here - this is the good stuff. It's rich, creamy, and just makes me want to sniff my wrist all day long. Then it gets even better - there's this sweet caramel-y vibe that comes through, and it's just divine. What I really love about the scent is how it changes throughout the day. It starts off super sweet and yummy, but then these subtle floral notes kick in, and it's like, wow, this scent has layers! And also... the perfume lasts forever. I put it on in the morning, and I can still smell it when I'm heading to bed. I find myself reaching for Vanitas way more than I thought I would. It's become my go-to when I want to feel a bit fancy, whether I'm just running errands or heading out for a night on the town. Bottom line? If you're into sweet scents that aren't too teenybopper, you've got to give Vanitas a try. It's like wearing confidence in a bottle. Trust me, your nose will thank you!

Woah - I am testing Vanitas and I'm INCREDIBLY shocked at how much I enjoy it. Profumum Roma is a house that generally supplies fragrances that are wretched on my skin - but this is a whole different case! Vanitas is *NOT* an atomic blast of traumatizing sweetness, like the rest of their scents - just a normal level of sweetness. Linear progression from the opening to the drydown; Soft, sweet, deep, caramel-like vanilla pod (reminiscent of Tihota's vanilla or Outremer's Vanille), a hint of Orange Blossom (an unlikely combination that works really well together), and the most microscopic amount of myrrh to add that extra bit of something to ground the scent. The overall impression is mildly gourmand, without giving you a toothache, and reminiscent of circusgrounds, due to the sticky vanilla & hint (sometimes an avalanche) of cotton candy - and more of a "dry" vanilla as the fragrance fades. I would say this is full-bottle worthy for any vanilla lover. Long-lasting, unique, and not boring in the slightest!

i bought this perfume in a boutique in berlin and the perfumeur and i looked up the origin of its name... vanitas comes from the latin and means the inevitable end of all things, with vanity being the sin of thinking oneself above this unstoppable cycle, birth, death, the fading of beauty... when i first smelled this perfume i was taken to an intense place, it smells like an entire carnival, and feels like the ecstasy of a fast night spent riding a rollercoaster with a beautiful girl, it's sweet, explosive, sugar that whacks you in your face, it smells almost too sweet to be natural and that's exactly what i love about it it lingers for hours, the hot fire sugar mellows out a little, stays as a warm vanilla... rounding all of this out, somehow, is also a smell more ancient, i suppose that would be the myhrr... yes that would be the smell then of the yawning grave into which we all are just about to stumble... i love this smell forever, it makes me feel so beautiful <3

Vanitas is a gourmand delight and an olfactory antidepressant. The vanilla smells rich and decadent, with a citric sweetness from the orange blossom and some smokiness loaned by the myrrh. Vanitas would be the centre of attention not because of a unique personality but for being as delectable as a caloric-infested, caramelized sugar bundt cake and as sweet and charming as Snow White circa 1937 (especially the part where she sings Someday My Prince Will Come and the animals are dancing around her, every living creature as high as a kite). Sillage is soft but the longevity of this is ridiculously tenacious, no fear of it ever disappearing unless soap is applied with a strong arm. On the "interesting" scale, this lies at the polar opposite to Mona di Orio's Vanille, with Lutens' Un Bois Vanille in the middle of the scale and Tihota in Vanitas' camp. Vanitas would satisfy cravings for sweets whereas Mona's Vanille would enter a debate with you regarding the same.

Superzweet, juicy, candy like. These are the words that jump out at first. Smells like a syrupy fruit punch, and almost boozy too, I'm not sure. The fruits I'm thinking of is like, cherry, grape, strawberry or something like that, but completely mushed together and not distinguishable from each other, sort of like I said, a fruit punch. I guess I also sort of smell some candied citrus or even oranges. I've never smelled anything like this before though, super unique. I'm baffled by the fact tha it doesn't smell anything like the notes listed though, and I don't get any myrrh, which I don't mind. I can also almost picture a sweet fruity tea, with lots of sugar and maybe some vanilla extract in it? Not that it smells like tea per se, but it does remind me of a cup sugary tea, and maybe some sweet purple candies on the side? (Idk why but my mind just goes there lol) I like it, but not sure if it's full bottle worthy just yes

I am testing this line looking for sweet gourmand and vanilla scents and this is the first one I have tried out of Profumum`s creations. I love the simple bottle designs of this niche house and I am hoping to extend my small fragrance collection with one of these beauties soon. Vanitas is a lovely, creamy vanilla with a playful twist - it might be the myrrh here but it smells a bit bubblegum-ish on me! It`s fun!! Doesn`t evolve much on my skin, stays soft and gentle. Really nice scent, not too sweet and unique for sure. Great longevity but stays close to skin, unfortunately sillage is not great on me. For this price I would have expected killer sillage so I dont`t think I would buy a bottle of Vanitas but I am not at all disappointed. I am glad I was introduced to this house and now looking forward to testing some of their other offerings.

I'm a fan of gourmand and Vanitas is no exception. The first time I went to the shopping center to try Profumum Roma and I was disappointed with Sorriso, it didn't meet my expectations and from then on I gave up the idea of learning about PR. After 1 month, a friend with a passion for collecting perfumes let me try Vanitas. I was hesitant. When sprayed, a green and very greasy scent emitted on my hands, which didn't bother me too much. but when Vanitas dries down; Oh my god, it's delicious and extremely attractive to me. As the wind blows, the smell of vanilla and a few white flowers make me fall in love. I came home after 2 hours and went into the bedroom with my wife, it filled the whole room softly and luxuriously with just 2 sprays just now. I went to bed with that gentle fragrance and decided to buy a full bottle afterwards. I got it!

First off...this scent performs differently depending on if you dab/roll-on or spray. Overall it is a gorgeous yummy vanilla. Super strong, long lasting. VERY sweet gourmand. Vanitas is quite tenacious. Vanilla dominant fragrance, with myrrh on its resinous warm sweet side, and a hint of sandalwood that comes out (you almost can't detect the sandalwood). As it dries ...the faintest hint of orange blossom is here, which I love. Roll/dabbing this on it is actually STRONGER, even SWEETER, almost thicker more syrupy. Comes across as a super powerful vanilla fragrance. Spraying this -- lightly diffuses the perfume out across your skin allowing detection individual notes better. It also doesn't read quite as sweet and powerful. That said, it is still very sweet and strong. LOVE. If you are a vanilla lover it is a must test.

I love, love, love this fragrance! I was torn between Vanitas, Battito d'Ali and Dulcis in Fundo from Profumum Roma (because that's the kind of scents I'm drawn towards), and what made my choice very difficult is that they are pretty similar to eachother, but they all have that little "something" that also sets them apart from eachother. I loved them all, but since it's very pricy I had to choose only one and I went for Dulcis in Fundo. I adore DiF, but I also know that when I have used up that bottle (20 ml.) I am going back for this one (or Battito d'Ali) next! So simple, yet powerful. Amazing longevity and sillage and just a beautiful, beautiful scent! Sweet, lingering, well rounded.. almost smells like there's cocoa in it too! YUM!

At first sniff this is cotton candy at the county fair, but not cheap or juvenile. As it develops, the vanilla warms on the skin, adding depth and nuance without overpowering the other notes in the fragrance. This is airy and warm without being cloying or sickeningly sweet. Cotton candy fragrances that don’t smell like cheap body spray are hard to come by, so I’m glad I took a chance with this one. Because this fragrance is so light and airy, I think it could be worn year round. Projection is moderate (but I also only used a dabber, so it may be stronger with a spray) and so far, this is pretty long lasting. This fragrance is not linear; it develops over time, and each note starts to stand out as it progresses. This is a love for me.

This is fun, evokes an imagery of a fantasy carnival at night and I'm here for it❤️ Profumum Roma does whimsical gourmands like no other 🪄 Every time I've heard about this fragrance, it was mentioned that this is THE vanilla fragrance...well...to me this is THE candy fragrance. Fruity hard candy that doesn't smell cheap. There are a few layers to this tho, might be the first PR that I've tried that's not completely linear, but the candy part stays through and through. Don't find it overly sweet or overbearing, I am wearing this in very high heat and it wears beautifully If you're expecting a vanilla forward fragrance, maybe sample first. I was not disappointed just confused and surprised. Performance is irreproachable.

I was totally expecting this to smell like Battito d'Ali without the coconut, based on the notes. Oh boy, was I wrong. This smells like tennis balls! I seriously thought my sample was labeled incorrectly. The drydown is a beautiful syrupy vanilla & myrrh, but the opening is super weird. Coming from somebody that loves doll head scents, this is a strange scent- it’s more rubbery than a sweet plastic Barbie. I simultaneously love it and hate it. Long story short, this is not a safe blind buy. EDIT: The drydown is reeeeally really nice. And this house uses fantastic ingredients, so it is worth the high price. A little goes a long way, and lasts all day.

This is an incredibly sweet vanilla. I dont detect much sandalwood or myrrh, and whatever orange blossom is here only serves as an extra sweetening ingredient! Luckily vanilla is my favorite note and I love gourmand and sweet perfumes, but I suspect some will find this much too sugary and might probably say it's comparable to something like Pink Sugar. I do feel a certain quality in this scent though and I prefer this over PS, which I also own. I will buy a FB of this because I am a perfume hoarder. But if I wasn't Able to spend all my money on perfumes I'd probably be able to do without this one in my collection.

I think Profumo could be wildly popular if their perfumes weren't so (ridiculously) overpriced. Some of the scents I have tried are sugary sweet and probably speak to a younger target group, Vanitas is no exeption. When you see the notes you might expect something quite different, but Vanitas is a cotton candy vanilla with just a hint of the other listed notes and that beautiful myrrh that I wish was amped up quite a bit. I sometimes like overly sweet perfumes so I really like this as well as Confetto. I probably would have bought them both if they were fairly priced.

Lemme just tell you a little story of how strong this is. A week ago I went by a store and sprayed myself with this. One spray to the neck, which got a little on my t-shirt, and also sprayed some on my arms. Then I got back in my car for a long drive to visit my family. Yesterday I got into my car again, and suddenly I was like "hmm, what smells like warm creamy vanilla?"... It was my seat belt. So I had gotten some Vanitas on my shirt, which then rubbed off on my seat belt, which in turn still smelled like Vanitas a week later. This is potent stuff!!

The first time I smelled this I thought it was just okay. I tried it again a few more times and I have absolutely fell in love with it! The sillage isn't huge but it lasts forever and I get whiffs out it throughout the day. Reminds me of an adult take on cotton candy. High quality, not juvenile at all. I sprayed it 13 hours ago and its still going strong. And usually fragrances do not last on my skin. I thought Aqua e Zucchero was my favorite Profumum Roma but Vanitas has stolen its place. Also in love with Sorriso and Dulcis in Fundo.

Beautiful vanilla and cotton candy. You’re on the boardwalk and smell freshly made cotton candy or a cotton candy Italian ice. while also smelling sweet vanilla perhaps you’re holding a vanilla cone as well. Shows how fun and playful niche scents can really be. This isn’t your cheap cotton candy body fantasies, this is a niche take on some of our nostalgic childhood favorites (Dulcis in Fundo for orange creamsicle) or smells we only smell in a relaxed mood when it’s time to have fun (in this example the boardwalk or at a carnival)

Wow, how different people perceive this one! On me it lasts forever and projects amazingly well. I never thought a gourmands could smell this deep and high quality. The vanilla is exquisite and the myrhh gives smooth depth and slight smokiness. Soft, but potent sandalwood rounds it up. I cannot smell the orange flower much at all, but think I would miss it had it not been there. This is a supremely blended perfume and utter perfection in the gourmand category. Best vanilla in the world.

Mmm... sweet, yummy vanilla that can drive a man nuts!! I got Vanitas along with other Profumum samples and between this and Acqua e Zucchero, this one is the better of the two. I wear it at home, and it instantly lifts my mood up. For outdoors, I could wear Battito D'Ali but I don't think I will ever go out wearing Vanitas. Like the name indicates, Vanitas is vanity in Latin and all I want to do when wearing this is to lie on the couch smelling myself lol! Talk about vanity.

This is what I love about fragrance, how different everyone experiences if, feels about it and smells it. I absolutely adore this one and it does something magical and sweet to my skin. I get automatically happy when I put it on. The vanilla comes across so different which is great because im so bored of vanilla scents right now. The addition of the sweet Myrrh and just enough orange blossom is such a perfect blend.

Glad it's here now. This I must say, has turned out to be one of my favorite vanilla fragrances. I even like it more than Orchidee Vanille by Van Cleef and Arpels. Vanitas is a creamy vanilla scent without being sugary sweet. It's very longlasting and that might be Profumum's trademark with their fragrances. To me, the sandalwood in this is very light and you might smell a little chocolate note if more is applied.

Tried this the other day - the sales girl told me it smelled like raspberry and licorice and I was intrigued! The first whiff is amazing, makes you very happy! It really does smell line raspberry and licorice but after a couple of hours it turns more smoky than anything else in me unfortunately. Will have to try it again, because the test strip and my jacket still smell amazing! :)

My personal favorite from the house. While Gioisia and Dulcis in Fundo are both lovely, Vanitas is the best one by far IMO- not much out there like it in a saturated world of vanillas. Vanitas manages to be sweet and playful without being too cloying or obnoxious. The final dry down is a sweet, slightly resinous vanilla. Vanitas is truly fitting for any occasion, year round.

For vanilla lovers only!A warm creamy deep blast of vanilla,so potent,I could not pick up any other note. I find this a great mixer scent.I tone it down with a strong orange, citrus based fragrance,this cuts the vanilla over-load,which I could never imagine to be possible.The result is delicious!Sillage is impressive, extremely long lasting.Not your basic quiet vanilla!

OMG!!! This is the best Vanilla scent ever!!! Absolute Fb worthy. Sexy, gourmand, big sillage, extremely long lasting!!!The vanilla with myrrh is a little oriental and the orange blossom gives a very secrety uniqueness. Refined superbomb!!! 1 spray is enough-it’s like a sweet vanilla cloud is around you all day and night-on clothes all mounth!😁 That’s why I buy NICHE.

This is very very reminiscent of Montale's Vanille absolu (which I own and adore). I am a huge vanilla lover, so would love to have it in my collection but considering that it is so similar to Vanille absolu (pure vanilla + something plasticky which I don't mind) I don't think I will purchase it due to high price but would love to receive it as a gift :)

Great opening, love it, a vanilla fragrance delight but not linear as the others make it an interesting take. After about an hourr though it fades away and the sillage seems lower from what I'd expect from this fragrance house. I love the freagrance though so I'd grade this one a B+, not an A because of the relatively low sillage/longevity.

One of my favorite things about perfume is how one scent can smell like something different to each person. On me, this is grown-up cotton candy. Sweet, to be sure, but not sickening or cloying. Playful, excellent on a summer day or when in need of an uplifting scent. And the longevity. THE LONGEVITY! A favorite for this gourmand lover.

OK. This is really addictive. I would have really loved it 15 years ago, but I just feel a bit too old for this sweet, darling scent. Having said that, Vanitas is one of the best quality cotton-candy sugarbombs I have ever tried. It is sweet without being insipid and soft without being boring. I'm impressed even if it's just not for me.

The myrrh and sandalwood really jump out on my skin, against a dry vanilla. I don't really smell the orange blossom at all. This is not a warm, gooey fragrance to me...it's dry and a tiny bit smoky. Completely unisex, if not leaning a tad masculine. I love this but haven't purchased a full bottle yet because it's so expensive.

Heavenly. Airy vanilla candy, with pleasant orange blossom an myrrh nuances. Unisex, beast mode, beautiful and unfortunately overpriced. Office safe if you don't overdo. Massive compliment getter: one of the best PR's offering, if not the best. In my top ten for sure. A solid 10/10

Vanilla Goddess! My favorite Vanilla scent, hands down! This was a crazy love at first sniff for me and I immediately bought it after I smelled it in the store. Nothing can be compared to this high quality fragrance. On of my favorite fragrances at the moment! BIG LOVE!

Yum! It's so interesting how everyone's nose is so different! It smells like sweet vanilla cotton candy on me! I love it. I would say if you are thinking of trying this, don't go by these reviews because they are so different from each other. Try it for yourself!

Yum. Sweet, vanillish lucky charms. I am in love! I especially use this to layer with other scents to make them more wearable during casual days. It gives me a beautiful scent bubble, if you enjoy thick sweet vanillas this is for you.

Ooh, I NEED this!! Such a bright, beautiful, orangey vanilla with just a bit of ✨spice✨. Almost has a candy-like quality, and it smells nostalgic and familiar yet I can't name any other fragrance that smells like this.

A grown up cotton candy vanilla perfume! I love it! Vanitas lasts all day on me and gives such a lovely scent bubble. The bottle is simple but so pretty at the same time, and I love the color of the juice inside.

Smells just like the vanilla sugar shell on mini Cadbury eggs!!! And lasts!!? Gold mine. Lovely sweet sugary but not cloying. Going to layer with Sweet Like Candy and other days Pink Sugar. Mmm

This is the perfect vanilla fragrance. I'm not picking up any rubber or plastic notes. It actually smells like lucky charms! The silage and longevity are awesome, lasts all day.

really sweet and beautiful!! it’s kind of fluffy and has this cotton candy nuance. the price is a little high for what it is, buuuut this is absolutely on my wish list lol

upon first applying, Vanitas was floral and powdery. after about an hour, a full, warm, vanilla came out. really lovely. i'm considering buying a fb.

Like most scents I tried by Profvmvm Roma, Vanitas is a rather linear, simple and bold scent that doesn't take a lot of twists and turns. It mellows out slowly but considerably as it dries down though, so the final skinscent you can smell all day is not the same as the opening blast that greets you for the first hours. Even though there is only orange blossom and no fruit listed, I find the opening very citrusy. It smells like orange zests, but in a loud, plasticy way. By "plasticy" I don't mean the sweet plastic doll scent of nostalgic toys from the 80s and 90s that is often prevalent in perfumes, but a harsh and bitter synthetic smelling note. The vanilla on the other hand is warm, bright and creamy and also noticeable right from the start. I'm not sure if the thing I perceive as harsh plastic is just a medicinal aspect of myrrh, but I guess it is. Because as the fragrance dries down it feels like the plastic notes burn off and what's left is a beautiful warm, balsamic scent that smells very much like what I'm used to from myrrh fragrances. The vanilla and even the orange stay over the whole duration of the fragrance, so the drydown just feels like a warmer, more natural version of the opening. I find this scent a little abrasive, especially in its first moments, but also intriguing. It's very sweet, but unlike most vanillas it feels assertive instead of cuddly and cozy. It's like they took inspiration from sugary cotton candy and vanilla perfumes à la Pink Sugar and added a more grown-up, hard to describe "what is this?" factor to make the scent interesting and mysterious.
