I really, really like this. I got a splash bottle, and the opening and mid is very close to Opium Pour Homme EDT, which made this a very pleasant surprise. I get an amazing lavender as the fragrance transitions from the opening to the mid. This reminds me of my signature scent, Versace Versus Uomo, and along with the Opium Pour Homme DNA, this is becoming a new favorite for me. The drydown brings forth some of the patchouli and sandalwood that reminds me of Guerlain Heritage, which is also a great twist to the fragrance. The only issue I have is the performance. I slathered it on at 7am, and although I am getting whiffs of it at 11am, the projection is only in my very close personal space. This makes it a great office scent, which is fine by me. The sillage is average to low. If you like the Opium Pour Homme and Heritage type scents that are obviously old school in a way, I think you will definitely like this one. EDIT 2022-05-12 After wearing this for a week or so, I still can't believe how amazing this fragrance is. I purchased 2 more 1.7 oz splash bottles, and put them in a nice spray atomizer. To help performance, I oiled up with lotion and then layered it on top of my homemade molecule 01. This gets me around 5 hrs., which is not as much as I would like, but that's better than many of the others that I have. EDIT 2022-06-02 Ordered 4 more 1.7 oz splash bottles for $15 total. This is not a dated scent. It warms up on the back end from the amber and benzoin, and is smooth throughout the wearing. I am shocked by the quality of this one! Edit 2022-12-07 I just received two 1oz bottles of Maxim Pour Homme, and immediately upon trying it I thought that it smelled like this. I compared the two, and they are very similar, with this one being a bit fresher. They are both very good, and worthy of a blind buy if you like older scents.

I bought a 1.7oz for $12 last fall. Wearing it on a brisk spring day (50F - 10C), this is dark. The notes imply citrus green character, but Proteo Profumi is brown, not green. As is often the case with scents with a few dozen notes, not much stands out. Aldehydes and orange open with lots of styrax and benzoin and amber coming in fast and strong. I traded for Dolce&Gabbana Pour Homme Made in London. It promised to be an orange and tobacco scent, but was actually citrus and florals with tobacco and amber, but extremely thin and weak. I mean extremely WEAK. Proteo Profumi is a lot like the scent I mentally expected D&G PH to actually smell. This has plenty of green notes in the pyramid, but they are not the stars. Styrax, benzoin, and amber really define this scent. It is heavy, slightly sweet, very Italian in its style. I love the Italian style so this works for me. The quality is very high. I am getting 12+ hours with 4 sprays, and that is excellent. The marketing must have weighed this stuff down in the marketplace. I understand Fabio is a very nice and approachable man, but that imagery does not appeal to men. Most men care nothing for a Romance Novel cover for a marketing campaign. I am not reminded of Opium PH. This scent is not THAT heavy. Balenciaga is a yes. This is a bit like that. A bit less spicy, but this is slightly less powerful. This reminds me of a powerhouse D&G PH. I don't see sellers with cheap little bottles anymore. If you can find this stuff for $15 per oz, it is a good buy.

Just received a 1.7 oz...splash of this. I paid under $10 for it on eBay. Opens with a very aldehyde blast..then quickly tones down into a classic aromatic fougere-type scent.....??...This is not a linear blend....it goes thru "changes" on your skin. I got "vibes" of a few different fragrances with this, such as, yes, Guerlain Heritage EDT and slight vibes of the Balenciaga Homme. However...this one is (to my nose) reminding me of the masterpiece: NIno Cerruti Nino Cerruti...(?). Maybe due to the aromatic/herbally/carnation-y blend..??? Never mind....I am really liking this vintage gem...and will now search out "spray" bottle version for sure !!!

I purchased two bottles (1.7 oz) for $10 on EBay. I decanted into a 1.7 oz spray bottle. What a pleasant surprise and major appreciation to reviewers below that tipped me off to this fragrance. I never enjoyed Spicebomb but really like the spice combination here and noticed how the scent develops and changes after dry down. One of the best vintage great buys. Get this before inflation makes it hard to find.

Ran across this many years ago in a perfume outlet in New Jersey. Despite the Fabio advertising (big turn-off), I fell in love with the orange mixed with vanilla and wore this fairly regularly for awhile before tiring of it. I don't think it was ever very popular--it was available pretty cheaply at the outlet shortly after it debuted. Never see it around at all these days.

This is a prototypical 1990s oriental fougere. I was instantly reminded of Romeo Gigli per Uomo upon my first wearing. It’s spicy, aromatic, woody and with a touch of vanilla. Still reasonably priced. If you’re into these type of fragrances, you get great value for the money.

Bergamot, tonka bean, musk, sandalwood are all the notes I love. At first the perfume is too strong, but after a while it becomes really warm and tender. I actually think it's unisex. At first probably more masculine, feminine a little later. An unusual smell!

Received my $8 blind buy bottle! IMO, a very nice spicy-boozy-tobacco scent at an incredible value. Already got three complements. Better for cooler weather days. Recommend.

yuck, this is really horrible - a cloying powdery smell that is definately not very 'mediterranean' and is actually very much like an old woman smell (not an old woman's perfume - but the smell of an old woman)

First wearing, just a dab: I'm not a huge sandalwood note fan, but this is really good. It's dry and woody, rather than smooth/milky or "pottery shattering" (as TS called the Samsara sandalwood note). It's not too far from vintage Catalyst for Men, but that one has other notes in the mix, and is much spicier. Mediterraneum starts off very busy, at one point being similar to Opium Pour Homme EdT, but that doesn't last long, and the sandalwood note begins to take over, though the projection ("sillage") is toned down considerably. This may be the best "bang for the buck" if you want a quality sandalwood note that dominates the drydown of a fragrance. Longevity is very good, and hours later the sandalwood recedes and a slightly sweet and vanillic quality emerges. If you want the opening to last longer, I suggest sampling Opium Pour Homme EdP, though. Second wearing: It seems a lot smoother and more coherent now that I'm doing a "normal" wearing. The sandalwood note is clear but not as pronounced, and it smells more like Opium Pour Homme, though with it's own identity. I guess a good description would be a light, woody, Oriental fragrance. It's a great, balanced blend, with enough note separation to keep it interesting. From the reviews, here and elsewhere, I thought the newest formulation of Third Man Caron would smell like this (instead, it is far cruder, simpler, etc.). Third wearing: I'm struck by the quality of the ingredients now, as well as the complexity and dynamism, though that may be because I wasn't expecting much from this one (not long ago 100 ml bottles were selling for less than $20 total on ebay, though I obtained mine in a swap). This is one to get if you are an aficionado and can get it for that kind of price.

Fougere EDT that smells very similar to imperial leather soap , nice one to have.

Smells like Balenciaga pour homme,,,but a little more rusty*
