Irisqué

"Powdery" is listed as the #1 accord here, which I disagree with... if there's powder here it's the powdered sugar on a turkish delight, plus, obviously iris/orris, if you consider that dewy spring flower and that rich, gooey, earthy root to be "powder" scents, which they are classically categorized as. It's also giving a bit of spiced apple cider, but make it orris, floral, and dry/earthy. It's the rich, dark, expensive lipstick scent of my dreams. This is an irresistible femme fatale in velvet, but you can take her to brunch with your girlfriends and no one would feel out of place, because she's charming and affable. Day or night, just gorgeous. It's perfectly iris-floral-fresh, aromatic-orris-spice, and earthy/round/oily like vetiver. A masterpiece. This is the fragrance that taught me I'm a fiend for high quality real-deal orris root. It's my favorite orris fragrance, my second rn being Iris Cendré. My ONLY gripe is longevity. Even on fabric it lasts only a couple days (I'm a bloodhound, and can detect most scents on clothes weeks, if not months later). I like to spray this heavily on my oversized black cashmere cardigan (thx Quince), and it's only detectable up to 6 days, tops. Oooh, also worth mentioning, while this works perfectly with my chemistry, my mom tried it and said it was "too old lady" on her.

Today, a friend here sent me a lot of samples which I have been applying on every spare part of my body, so I probably smell like I belong in a bordello right now. 😂 And while I like/love so many of them, this stands out above the rest, or at least of those I've tried so far. This has to be one of the sexiest fragrances I've ever smelled. It is drop dead gorgeous. The orris doesn't read like orris, but like iris, and it is front, and center and so sensuous and tactile, I can almost feel the velvety soft iris flowers. The musk has that human skin quality from the ambrette that I adore, like baby skin, and all is grounded with carrot seed and oud. I normally don't like those notes as they are usually way overdone, but here they have been so judiciously used that it doesn't even read like those notes, but just adds this earthiness that grounds the composition and keeps it from floating away. Best yet, no vanilla anywhere in sight. I don't mind vanilla used with iris perfumes, but does every iris perfume hitting the market have to have it in it? Really? Charma shows us it doesn't, so perfumers shouldn't be afraid to change it up from time to time. Thank you, my dear friend, for sending me this. But oh, you are going to make me broke, as no 3ml. from Providence is going to do. I need a bottle of this.

Irisqué is my first iris dominant fragrance. It is unisex and can be worn year-round. I find it comforting and relaxing to wear. It is powdery with light musk in the base. It is not overpowering and is mostly intimate with regards to projection. Overall, a clean and calming scent that is ideal to wear for dressing up during the daytime. Irisqué goes perfectly with a new, crisp dress shirt. Clean sophistication. Score: 8.5 out of 10 Would I purchase a replacement bottle? TBD, need to wear more.

Something about this reminds me of Erawan by Dusita. I smell tobacco, hay, tea and musk. And I think only one of those is listed in the note pyramid. So who knows. Initially I didn’t think it was too musky but I think I’m revising that opinion as the musk seems to become more prominent as the day wears on and I kept getting whiffs of it throughout the day. Also the longevity was pretty good for an all natural. I put it on before work and still smell it now that I’m home although I have to kind of press my nose to my arm. I think a lot of people would enjoy this so hopefully it gets more recognition. I’m on the fence about a fb so I’ll finish up my sample and decide then. Edit: I love it and bought a fb. Something about it is very comforting. It is very different from other Iris fragrances so I can see being taken aback when first smelling it. But after smelling hundreds of scents it’s nice to smell something truly unique.

this one has a weird opening for me-it's very rooty and kind of animalic at first. i guess it's orris/carrot seed. it's very earthy and musky. then the musk turns softer and it gets quite gorgeous. still kind of earthy but more iris/musk facets come out rather than orris/carrot. almost kind of smells like tea, maybe an oolong. really soft and pretty, and hard for me to describe! but it's unlike any iris i've tried.

The soil note of the iris is strong in this one. Pairs well with spicy orientals and more assertive blends. It hums along quietly and lasts for about 3 hours detectable around you, then recedes to a skin scent for another 2. This is revealing more beautiful facets as my bottle matures! Some elements of tea and incense have started appearing. I'm loving this lately!

This one make me scrub. I could only tolerate it for 15 minutes, which I know isn't enough to fully capture a perfume, but it was like acid on my skin. It didn't burn, I just hated it so much I couldn't stand to keep smelling it. So bitter - I've never smelled a fragrance SO bitter. The iris/orris came off super medicinal to me. I felt like I was smelling old bitter used coffee grounds, mixed with purple dimetap/robitusson/nyquil/some sort of syrupy medicine of that sort, and black licorice, all without even a touch of sugar or sweetness. It became less repulsive as it dried down, but that opening was so harsh I still can't get it out of my nose even an hour later, and my wrist still smells like iris soap (which shouldn't be bad, I like iris/orris, though not quite thrilled with it in this blend). I don't understand how the notes, which I wear often in other scents, could mix so badly here. Perhaps my mini sample dabber was from a bad bottle..? This was my first order from luckyscent, and with the scent being one of my least favorite I've come across ever, unfortunately I will not be back for a full bottle.

I had a mini roller ball of this and wore it all. Then I figured that I better test it out again just to be sure about a full bottle. I have been wearing this all day and I have to ask myself why in the world did I think I needed to think about buying a full bottle? I should hit myself over the head and knock some sense into myself because Irisque is just about the sexiest fragrance in my collection. Yeah, this is a great iris fragrance but what makes it so sexual is the ambrette musk. This is such a musky fragrance and a really deep, rich, vegetal musk. It is so reminiscent of time spent outside, of the earth, plants, the musk aromas of roots and barks, the musk of nature. Irisque is so unique and interesting and such a pleasure to wear I needed to speak about it again. There is nothing else like this anywhere. I wore a tiny bit of that sample to bed and woke up w/ the smell of it on my skin. I applied the rest of the 1.5ml sample all over my body on skin and I'm telling you the scent just radiated off of me all day and all evening. I applied it at 8am and it is 8pm now and it is still going strong. No reapplying whatsoever. If you want something that is warm, unique, sexy, musky, deep, earthy and just downright addictive, as in the more you smell it the more you love it check out Irisque by Providence Perfume Company. Nobody does naturals like Charna, why she isn't as widely known as Hiram Green I don't know but she should be.

I got a sample and was very intrigued about this scent. It definitely reminds me of the iris flower. This is one of the few iris scents where all I get is the iris. It does fade quickly on me, but I do like it. Before it disappeared, I did get a little musky note. I also felt at this time, it needed an extra punch; because sometimes I do not smell it at all. I had a bottle of Kerbside Violet (Lush) and sprayed it on top of this. (just a little..) WOW! Together they were like a super-hero. The iris broke out fuller and definitely melded well with the violet. This really smells wonderful to me. Violet and iris do meld nicely together, though they can definitely be over powering. (Creed Love in Black, I am talking to you...) This was a nice little experiment. Though the fragrance on its own is truly wonderful, so this treat may be a few and far between thing. Over all, I get straight on iris, and it is definitely different than other iris fragrances where they use it for the powdery note. This is full on green and smooth and the powder has a very different feel. Like you pulled the plant from the soil and it had wilted from the sun. If you like iris fragrances, you will like this. I had been on the fence about a FB, but they were going to raise the prices Sept 25, so I sprung for a full bottle. I am glad I did.

i can't explain it, but this smells like warm turpentine in my nostrils. a gust of old-school industrial chemicals and animal fur. sampled this over the summer and it made me gag, total scrubber. put it on again over Christmas and suddenly I'm besotted. between this and coney island baby, i guess i'm kicking off a Captains of Industry phase this winter...hazardous chemicals ahead, proceed at your own risk

Damn, at 1st I didn't like this one but something wonderful happened on my skin the more I let it sit. Now it's powdery, musky, sweet and deep. Damn it, now I can't live w/ out it. Let's just say I have spent a lot of money on a new all natural perfume wardrobe in the last few weeks. My husband loves this one as well so he won't be bothered by the sticker shock, at least I hope!
