Turkish Leather

Spectacular. Superlative. A giant, 3-D, multilayered, Technicolour, hi-definition, breathtaking lesson in what the perfumer's art can do. Just so vivid and defiantly ITSELF that it's kind of pointless - though oh so tempting - to keep a list of all the notes it unfurls to you, hour after hour after hour. Because it's got it all. This is leather not as a single note but a complex distillation of a living animal; sweets not as pure sugar, but entire confectioners' catalogues of recipes; spice and dirt and sweat lurking beneath to surprise you in the strangest moments. The sense of Turkish delight (that jellylike jewelled stuff) is really strongly there, to my nose stronger than the dates, and there's shed-loads of sugar for sure, but it is never over-sweet. One of the most un-linear things ever - it really cycles through those notes, presenting totally different moods in different stages. Probably not one for very hot weather - it's dizzyingly strong and heady even in winter for me - and the really punchy/sour bottom end of the leather might scare some people away. Lasts ages (all day and beyond on skin, for days on end on fabric) and is so robust it surrounds you with a delicious force field without choking you out. True unisex; gender has nothing to do with its magnificence. Of course it's agonisingly expensive. But even speaking as a miser with no sweet tooth for perfume, it's worth every penny and maybe more. Awe inspiring, believe me.

Rakı - Lion's milk The best way to drink Rakı, which is famous as the Turkish national drink, is with flat cylindrical glasses and cold (8-10 degree). One can drink it with water, straight, with soda or mineral water. Although Rakı which is a distilled alcoholic beverage strongly aromatized with lots of anise, it can be consumed as a cocktail, but more commonly it goes best with cold hors d'oeuvres. For example; Russian salad, garlic sauce, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, cold-cuts, fried pastries, cold yogurt soup, brains, shrimp, mussels vinaigrette are followed by entrees such as shish kebab, mixed grilled meats, steak, fish (pan fried, grilled, in the oven) and finally fruit. The type of fruit does not meter. It can be any kind of fruit depending on the season. Especially in Turkey, melon and feta cheese are the best combination for accompanying raki. I really love this scent and hate the fact that I love it because it's impossible to find. I won't be purchasing or even trying out anything else from the creator's many brands as they all seem to get discontinued without any notice. Emailed the brand and no answer. It's great being young, dynamic and creative but one needs to be more solid and persistent if it wants to be taken seriously.

Well balance of Leather market + dry fruit and sweets market. It reminds me of Istanbul and somewhere in middle east. Versatile, smoky, huge sillage. Very exotic in wearable way. For me Turkish leather is refine version of Tuscan Leather which is too overrated. More perfect and more complex. An orient express to Istanbul.

so excellent. this is in my top 3 from Prin Lomros. too bad it's not available anymore. if you can find a bottle don't hesitate.

One of more interesting leather scents out there, since most new leather fragrances just go after Tuscan Leather success, simpy copying it and Turkish Leather is something very different. I love leather and one of my favorties is Ombre Leather by TF, but this is one of my favorite leather scents too which goes to a gourmand genre. It is very different and unique, non-traditional leather scent if that makes sense. What I like the most about Turkish Leather is the thick sweetness of it, which really reminds me of a cacao, vanilla and dried fruits from Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford, just mixed with fine and strong animalic leather note. It is sweet, bitter, animalic and slightly smoky. Truly potent fragrance, it projects and lasts like crazy. Simply sublime. A must try if you like leather with a gourmand twist! We can say Its complicated and original scent. Not like I'd tried before leather scents, its really striking. It seems first look masculen and vintage a little bit delicious. You can wear winter or autmn to this. Shortly worth to try. And there is no such thing as Turkish raki. Scent : 8/10 Long: 8/10 Sillage: 8/10

Being quite familiar with Raki, this one is a very accurate rendition of that alcoholic beverage. The Raki accord is very strong in here, almost pungent. Strong boozy, spicy, leathery oud, with a minimum amount of loukhoum sweetness. Very unique perfume.

I don't really get much leather out of this one. It is quite sweet with a dusty chocolate smell, like dry cocoa powder, it is a very nice scent none the less. It also has a certain smoothness to it, like pipe tobacco.

Thanks to a perfume pal, I got the chance to try this out. Sorry guys, I'm just not a fan. I could smell something like really strong Iso E before I even removed the cap of the sample. It was so off-putting that it took about two weeks for me to brave it. Sure enough, once applied to the skin, I just got a ton of Iso E that slowly evolved into a super sweet loukhoum. Way too sugary. In time came a tiny bit of cinnamon and so little leather that Turkish Delight seems a more appropriate name. This is my second try from this house, and the other one (Taiga) did the same--lots of Iso E with the note pyramid basically drowning in it. My chemistry isn't jiving with this house, unfortunately.

Transportation in Five, Four, Three, Two, One... If there were ever a magic carpet to be ridden, this is it! Confectionery..oriental ..to... be... had! Turkish Leather is an adjective waiting to happen but I must warn that this is more oriental than leather. First you are greeted with smoky candy swirling with an arabic radiance fashioning as a murky naturalized amber. Just as you're starting to get comfortable with this fragrant bonbon this effortlessly transitions to the tranquil stage of suede. Ambergris and dates are concomitant to animalic accords but the exception lies here as the notes offer its dandy side and none of the boorish properties. I don't know anything about Raki and will defer to others about this ingredient but from my understanding, this liquor is made with anise. If that's true then I can say without a doubt this has a light cinnamon-licorice vibe. I could spray my skin for days and never feel dreadfully crapulous. I love the hell out of this fragrance but the only reason why I won't say it's blind buy worthy is because it's being touted as a leather fragrance and i feel otherwise. If you don't care about genres and want something really really good, this is the one you go for!

This doesn't have a lot to do with the perfume itself. I rarely have a problem with the pricing strategy of a brand but I feel this is a dishonest brand. Within less than a month they raised the price from $125 USD to $190 USD (in summer 2017), and someone we knew ordered lots of their perfume right before the price change and when he went to pick-up they asked for the new price tag (aka when he ordered he discussed with the owner and the owner agree to him with one price and when he came to pick-up they requested a higher one). I personally find it kind of shady (especially when he made a big purchase right before they suddenly adjust the price, a lot) and this sort of made me uncomfortable doing business with them and kill my interests I originally had for this brand.

Sweet boozy incense. This gives the impression of a soft leather that consist of sweet dates, cacao, Turkish delight, incense, sweet labdanum booze. It has that nylon cover blended with balsam notes. I see it as more gourmand than leather and more incense as well. Nice Edit (13th Oct 2018) I am sniffing it again now but it gives quite a weird feeling tho! it has that spicy booze with a slightly soapy sweet note. The dates is kind of cloying, while the cacao can't be detected as much as the spicy loukoum. i'm not sure that i'm liking this to be honest as it's soapy spicy sweet.

Since I felt in love with Fumerie Turque from the house of Serge Lutens, I started to test everything with Turkey or Istanbul in the name. This scent I found quite pleasent. Maybe not love, but still like to wear it. It's a pleasent combination of fruit bubble gum with some smoke. Not a very complicated thing, but still quite unique (never met a similar fragrance). Interesting, a must try for Turkey lovers, and for all who like sweet smoke scents.

I was wearing this today. I first sprayed at 12.00 Incense note was very strike me. After settle down, I got some sweet/ dry spices. it's very peculiar but in a good way! Now 20.00 it's left me with the skin-scent - the ambergris and incense still here. Very nice scent indeed! I think it suitable for very occasion. If you could pull it out.

Terrific, unlike any other leather fragrance I have come across. The date sweetness and cacao is the difference I believe. Very well done, blind bought w/no regrets.

Im turkish, raki (in turkish=rakı) has very very sharp scent.you can feel it that even you are far 10 metres, therefore im sure that it is long lasting scent.

Agree with the below statement that it's packed with some sort of synthetic like iso e super but good news is that if you like it this junk won't wash off

As a turkish lad I am raki is the most challenging smell ever. it smells like anise but with a alchol touch
