M V2Q

M V2Q is a phenomenally unique and bold fragrance comprised of layers and layers of deep and complex notes, it’s a scent which cannot possibly smell understated or refined - yet thrives in its garish character. I must say after testing the entire range from Puredistance, this is easily my favourite by a mile. This scent is woody to the max; a rich, earthy heart of cypriol with burning pine tar and cedar behind it dominates the senses. From here a hefty punch of cinnamon with a whisper of lavender warms up the gentle indolic heart of jasmine and orange blossom, all before simmering down to a leathery labdanum and patchouli base. It doesn’t get more masculine than this, you don’t often come across a fragrance which so readily abuses cypriol and pine tar like this. I absolutely adore this scent, it’s a shame about how expensive it is but I simply cannot get enough. From what I can tell there doesn’t seem to be much similarity to the original M, save for the cinnamon and leathery touches, overall it feels like an entirely new creation which could have heralded a new dawn for Puredistance were their advertising better.

Criminally underrated fragrance, and the votes/rating most certainly do not reflect just how unique and incredible this creation is. I can also say, with quite a bit of confidence, that there is no scent that this smells similar to. I also don’t think that this scent can easily be described; you simply have to try it if you ever get the chance to experience its creativity. Nevertheless, I would say that this is a very woody fragrance, that is notably accompanied by a good dose of Cypriol and a slightly sweet vanillic base to perfectly round off this masterpiece. Just like any perfume, there will be those that love and dislike this scent, but I truly believe that it warrants a try. I’ve received quite a few compliments whenever I’ve worn this. Finally, you definitely needn’t worry about performance with this one!

Loving my sample and wanting a bottle. Something about the whiffs in the air just attract me to this fragrance, it smells unique to my collection, such a sensationally sexy fragrance! Never smelled the original, but this smells signature scent worthy to me, strong projection, undeniably pleasant aroma, great longevity, dynamic, unique, balanced, well crafted, the list goes on, have your own experience, sample!!! Bought the bottle, and this fragrance is DANK! Very potent, be careful with this one, in high concentrations I could see this being “too strong” for some, but in the air it is very alluring, someone chased me down in a store to ask me what i was wearing!

This is another masterpiece by Antoine Lie. I have not smelled the OG and I must say this is a fantastic fragrance. It is unique in a sense I have not smelt anything like it for a man's Cologne. I had a 3 ml sample and after a couple wearings I decided to order the 17.5 ml. Whatever ingredients combined gives it a leathery smell Antoine mastered it. I definitely could see the modern James Bond wearing something like. I find this leaning towards the masculine side of fragrances. The ambery sweetness with the cinnamon spice adds a sophisticated taste. I had to update/revamp my earlier review of this as I have grown to absolutely love this.

unfortunately i never smelled the original M - but i'm extremely impressed with this one. The opening carries significant spice - with a fairly noticeable dose of pine tar. After it settles - within the first 5 minutes - it becomes stunning. The tonka and vanilla, although not pronounced, really feels like it rounds this fragrance perfectly. At it's heart, it's a spicy, fairly dry scent. I just couldn't be happier.

Again, this is so unique and a masterpiece but reviews/rating are usually bull sh..t here....when a perfume is launched that has the name somehow or a new edition of something older, the reviews are always bad....this cant be always true...especially for such a niche house!!! This is a perfect scent for a man to smell high classed, elegant and different.

Stunning fragrance! Can't compare to anything I've smelled so far. Sillage is so wonderful! Heavy notes stay on the skin and project beautiful smell. Out of nowhere I got compliments wherever I went. It's very expensive yes but if you can get at least 1,2ml of this stuff. Note, definitely not suitable for nich beginners.

marioslg3 I hear ya! Ratings here on fragrantica is like a circus! Clones getting 4.0 - 4.5, higher score than originals. Niche masterpieces getting low scores. Maybe cuz it's not for a beta men, don't know. M V2Q is powerful bold fragrance! I got addicted to this fragrance. It works really well outside the winter.

Similarities between a ford mondeo and an Aston Martin is the same between this and cuioum...it is such a magnificent scent, so unique, so classy, so high quality....the rating here is bullshit...if this is below 4.4, the ratings are not representative in fragrantica.....smell it and you will see.

M used to my signature scent. When I know it was going to discontinued, I started to piling up. I wanted to have enough stock for my entire life. Calculate how much I used per year in the last almost 10 years. When I tried MV2Q, OMG I can drop all my M.

I have not smelled "The original M" so i cannot compare but to me this is quality and the best leather scent ever have. I have tried many and liked a couple but this one is top notch if you like leather.

So much character and enigma. I bet you there’s tuberose here, too. White florals, woody, but at the same time spicy like chilli? Pepper? I’d also say laurel leaf and oppoponax?

This perfume is VERY underrated on fragrantica... My one of my must have perfumes, very masculine, smooth, elegant, formal and signature. score at least 4.0+

Well constructed discrete by the books aromatic woody fougere with a slight smoky touch. The scent opens with aromatic notes of lavender, slight orange blossom and pepper. The woody heart has cypriol, jasmine, cinnamon and slight pine tar which gives a smoky ashy touch to the scent. The scent settles on a sweet powdery bed of vanilla, tonka bean, cedar, patchouli and labdanum. The masculine leaning scent has moderate projection and good longevity. A nice office safe scent for the suave gent when your designer cologne won’t suffice. Overall this is elegant and very overpriced for what is being offered. Enjoy!

Smelled it, Though not listed, This is a leather fragrance, yet not the abrasive nor animalic leather, but floral, soft yet heavy and concentrated. A great fragrance, great blending, very well done.

To clarify the concept, this new fragrance was created by Antoine Lie (responsible for other fragrances of the brand, such as Black, Gold, White, and Aenotus). The acronym indicates the second version of M (V2) combined with the technology provided by Q (a character) and the “Vanquish”, an Aston Martin car that has already been used by James Bond. The storytelling reveals that the original version was inspired by the universe of James Bond played by Sean Connery, while the new one conveys the style of Daniel Craig and leaves the way open for his successor. In practice, the idea was not to reformulate. Puredistance decided to take the risk of relaunching its first and only openly masculine perfume, in exchange for transparency with a loyal and demanding audience that invests in High Perfumery and the exclusivity that the brand offers. The fragrance of the new Puredistance M V2Q brings notes of orange blossom from Morocco, pink pepper from La Réunion, and essence of lavender from Provence, at the top. Then, the heart is warmed by notes of cinnamon from Madagascar, Indian Cypriol, French pine tar, and Sambac jasmine. Finally, a sweet base appears with notes of patchouli from Aceh (in Indonesia), vanilla from Madagascar, Spanish labdanum, tonka bean from Venezuela, and Cedar from Texas. On the skin, Puredistance M V2Q shows the full power of its 28% concentration. The orange blossom note is extremely strong and, in my perception, follows the path of those fragrances that list the essence of Azahar flowers. Although they indicate the same thing, Citrus Sinensis is sweet, while Citrus Aurantium is sour and, because they are different trees, their flowers also generate oils with different nuances. The pink pepper imparts a light floral tone, while lavender tries to emerge and gain breath, but its aromatic tone is not very noticeable. The cypriol note is more evident, especially at the time of application. But it also loses space to the jasmine of the composition, which is much more floral than I expected. Puredistance M V2Q's leathery profile takes a long time to appear, and even when it does, it comes with an extra dose of vanilla and patchouli that, in my opinion, suppress all the beauty of labdanum. On my skin, the fragrance is much more floral-ambery and feminine, than leathery and masculine. Not that I was expecting something raw and dry without any possibility of use by women. But the result is unbalanced and doesn't seem to be part of the Puredistance family. Although comparisons should not be made, it is impossible not to compare this version with the previous one, as I am passionate about its fragrance. And if the former seemed to me to be totally adequate to its time, the latter seems to me to be extemporaneous. I can think of at least two similar fragrances already launched by more accessible brands (which is also not a demerit, but it runs away from Puredistance's proposal). For those looking for power, Puredistance M V2Q has absurd performance, exudes a lot, and lasts more than ten hours on the skin. It earned me countless compliments, even the first time I wore it, it's perfectly unisex and it fits in several gaps that I appreciate. However, truth be told, it doesn't convey to me the image of James Bond. It's more like one of the “Bond Girls”, always beautiful and not at all helpless!

Comparing it to M2 original, this one is a little hard to swallow. M2 was a beautiful, smooth, spicy, stinky, sweet leather...debonair but with an animalic growl and, of course, in the mode of Bel Ami. V2 really amps up the shrill "super amber" woody aromachemicals to an (IMHO) unpleasant degree. The screech combined with the syrupy/ambery orange-blossom/resin facet (which brings to mind Joop Homme strangely...) is not my favorite. I appreciate the acknowledgement that they created a wholly new scent. And, indeed, this is perhaps more modern (see: super amber) than the original, which had one foot in the 80s...so perhaps that was behind the re-tooling of this idea. Strangely, in the very deep drydown, I still do detect some of the cuminey-sweet-amber-leather chord from the original....whether that's my imagination or not, I don't know!

Unbalanced when first applied - someone said I smelled of sugar and sawdust - it settles to a sweet, white-floral led scent which is unisex, maybe veering to the feminine were it not for the pronounced undertones of ambroxan. The leather mentioned in the written description is not much in evidence at any point in the development of this fragrance. I want to like it, but it is very far from the balanced, classical composition of something like PureDistance 1. The excessive sweetness makes it seem trend-driven and rather department-store oriented.

This opens with a powerful blend of white florals and lavender with a touch of soft pink pepper spice. As it dries down you get a smoky, spicy, woody strong leather accord. This is one of the most powerful fragrances I’ve came across in terms of sillage and radiance. To be honest white florals turn me off though and remind me of old lady perfume.

The orange blossom, jasmine and labdanum provide a feeling of being in an India temple, surrounded by incense. Fragrance is smooth and creates a nice scent bubble with decent longevity on clothes. Good but not remarkable. Shukran Habibi!

I liked this at first, bought a full bottle yet after wearing it a few days like the last reviewer there is something most definitely off putting. To me it comes off as a musky body odor. Black Afgano at times has that slight sweat like smell but with this frag it’s not good, I wish I had stayed with the sample a few days longer before throwing down on a bottle. Black Afgano somehow pulls it off. Highly suggest a longer term “test” before purchasing.

I acquired a sample thinking, maybe this is a good successor to M... I could not have been more wrong, it is absolutely nothing like M... one spritz on my forearm and instantly I'm transported to the ladies fragrance section of a department store during the holidays, filled with post middle aged women in cashmere sweaters... I could not wash it off fast enough, hours later, it's still all I can smell... and I absolutely HATE IT.

Total trash. Sold my bottle to female friend for $50 and I felt like I ripped her off.

I must be smelling something different than most because on my skin this is a STRONG leather fragrance to the point that leather is the most identifiable note. The opening florals create a fresh “clean linen” musk accord that feels like super high quality fabric softener. A few minutes later it’s just incredibly strong leather. Like to the point that it’s having me second guessing the my nose because what I see others write about verse what I’m smelling is so completely different. The florals are very subtle as is the patch. I get absolutely no vanilla or anything sweet. Nothing feminine either. This is rather strong to the point that just 4 swipes from a sample vial is creating an arms length scent bubble but it could be farther for all I know. Imagine Gain laundry detergent mixed with new car leather. That’s M V2Q.

I saw a Jasmine Sambac in notes breakdown of M V2Q. Well, I think it is one of the main factors destroying, ruining this composition like totally to me. I've got a backup bottle of old Puredistance M and a large decant of MV2Q. The new one is a disaster to me. It's a jasmine, slightly indolic concoction that should be released under a totally different name rather than "being a flanker". It seems that Antoine Lie tried to imitate leather accords with something amber-ish and flower-ish. And I also feel an inspiration, well - even a huge inspiration taken from Lie's other perfume under Puredistance brand - Black that is, the difference is Black is much more spicy, I mean mainly pink and black pepper spice, new MV2Q doesn't have a lot of that. Unfortunately for me, both longevity and sillage are great.

Take M, water it down 2 times, blend it with Black and water it down again. That is more less how Puredistance MV2Q smells like. While M was a symbol of refinement and luxury, this is a sign, that even a good perfumer can destroy an outstanding perfume. I think Antoine Lie didn’t have a concept what to do with M, and he was asked to do „something”. One of my favourite perfumes is unfortunately officially destroyed.

Hitter. Opens complex scenario right away, think upgraded Black Gemstone with the finesse to it. Busy structure, got the high end all round, own particular setup, notes not really describing it. Keeps unraveling, almost suggested oud but the finest, think a little Black Phantom Nutella nuts with the woods, when warmed that part completely added to the resinous amber turned into a movie. Can't keep nose off it.

Absolutely revolting. One of the worst fragrances I’ve ever smelled. Nothing like the original m. This is such a disappointment and the fact that they rebrand it is just sad. Even if this wasn’t associated with M I think it’s a terrible scent. Just awful.

Created account just to rewiev this one. This is amazing, deep, rich. Not for boys. This is men fragrance. This rating is not true. It must be on a top tier with most Amouages and this kind of quality fragrances. This is perfect but very expensive.

Dirty leather, cigarette ashes and tar. Interesting but not my cup of tea. It reminds me in a way about Black Powder Jusbox (the ashy aspect) or a very very dirty Tuscan Leather minus the raspberry.
