Black XS Potion for Him

Unfortunetly this perfume won't be available in Portugal and that made me pissed off. My parents went to Vigo, Spain today and they surprised with this one as a gift for me and the female version for my mother as a gift to her self. Happy days :) Well this one is a awesome fragrance. My parents loved it, that is because why they bought it for me. I obviously openned right away and tried it right away. The opening notes are brutal, I loved them every minute. It has a little bit of the original Black XS for him in it with a scent of absinth in it. The heart notes are very pleasant with the fruity note become more of a woody scent. The base notes of Rum is present, I was expecting a scent similar to JOOP! Homme Wild but it is not. I can smell the Rum but this one reminds me a little bit of the base notes of Fan di Fendi for men or 212 VIP for men. Overall, this is really a scent from the Rabanne House. It is really caracteristic of him to have scents like this one. I will only use this one when I go to dinner parties or to a nightclub or even a romantic date/dinner. This is a Fall/Winter fragrance in my point of view and the longevity is great. The bottle is really great, I loved the stamp detail great creation. Contragulations Mr Paco Rabanne on another great scent for men (9/10).

Paco is synonymous with sweet. This is no exception. This is a sweet, boozy, vanilla bomb. Surprisingly, this does go through quite a transition on skin. It starts with typical paco sweetness - similar to montblanc legend night - and then transitions into a more sour, woody sweetness. I haven’t tried the original xs - or any other flankers, so I’m not able to compare them in that sense, but I do genuinely like this. I would say it’s geared towards the younger crowd - simply because of its sweetness - but I enjoy it regardless. I think this is just different enough to warrant strong consideration (if you like sweet bombs!). Nice release! 6/10

I have always been a fan of Black XS .The only thing that Black XS lacked for me was the silage and logevity I still loved it but then I bought this (blind buy) from a retail site for 40$ and oh boy is this good. Black XS Potion is the improvement I wanted from the original . Good silage and brutal longevity. I got 20 + hours on my skin and a good 8 hours with washing ,man does this juice deliver . I get a peach opening and sweet , woody notes in the dry-down . Anyways , great scent decent silage ,could do better ! ordered two more bottles . Scent 9/10 Silage 7/10 Longevity 10/10

This is my absolute number 1 of all perfumes I smelled in the last 15 years. It’s totally different than the other Paco Rabanne products. Actually I cannot find anything similar. It reminds me of red mulled sweet wine or rum served in a wooden goblet near a crackling wood in the fireplace. The smell is completely clean in the sense uniform and harmonious, there are no pungent scent notes, a fragrance work of art.

Had this fragrance for a while in my collection Heard a certain clown in the frag com describing it as a powerful scent I couldn’t believe it so I had to test it out to make sure and long and behold once again the clown wasn’t right This fragrance starts gorgeous until the next 45 to 1 hour then it lets you down becoming less than a skin scent for maximum 3 to 4 hours

I have both Not exactly the same but similar I can feel the difference right at the beginning Black XS potion Sweet In a different way its feel better With the combination of rum and wood longevity is better and the smell is softer If you like the original you have to get Black XS potion It does not disappoint I highly recommend You'll enjoy both of them

This is an excellent flanker! A sweet rum fragrance that dries down woody and still has a hint of the original Black XS DNA. Projects fine for the first hour or two then settles. Will last a while on clothes though. If you like Black XS and want something bit more mature, this is it. Ratings Sillage: 6.5/10 Longevity: 7/10 Scent: 8/10

This limited edition caught my attention when i sampled it on the back of my hand. This frag projects, lasted a long time eventhough after rinsing my hand with water & after taken a bath. I'm very glad that i tried it and eventually added to my collection. Hope you guys will give it a try as well. Cheers.

I used the original for a couple of years but since joining the Fragcomm I've held back on it but I just score a 100ml bottle of Potion for $30.00 and I can certainly say it smells very close to the original. The difference only comes in on the dry-down where Potion becomes woody.

The berries of Pure Malt mixed with peaches and strawberries with a heavy waxy cream that sits upon a very light version of Tobacco Vanille. It has a warming comforting feel to it, I'm floored, it's so awesome!!! A soon to be rockstar and darling, I know it.

this smell is on really high level for my nose...better,stronger and mooore longlasting BIG BROTHER of BLACK XS.i'm woman but i like to wear and buy fragrances for men.and i'm sure that this will be next!!!

First 10-15mins after spraying it smells really nice, but after that it dies down to fainted original black xs...Only tested it in a cold weather though. Maybe it will be better in spring.

I love this fragrance. Sweetly spiced and smells of rum, and not in an alcoholic kind of way! Lasts for ages and doesn't overpower a room. Perfect for late summer through autumn.

Paco Rabanne at its perfection...............A very very live scent..i love it......perfect for the fall.walking on the dry leaves and wearing this perfume...wow.... 10/10......

I was so reluctant to buy any of these XS's flankers, many likes, many hates in the reviews, but well I found a tester bottle for 37 bucks and I decided to give it a try, and I am pleased with it, It is a sweet fragrance no doubt of it, and someone say it smells like chewing gum, well at some point it gets close to it, I haven't go to notice the wood and rum yet since it has been just a couple hrs that I put it on, lets see later. Over all the opening is nice... I am writing this at the end of the day, and the scent is gone, a little trace remains very close to the skin, no compliments or comments or compliments whatsoever :-( Probably because people at work are so used to know I always wear cologne, but when one of them stands out I always get at least some comments without asking, and that did not happen with this one, well I'll give it another try, but in general I can say I liked it.

A rummy version of the original. Black XS Potion stays true to the original BXS. It has the same pineapple sweetness. However, in potion the sweetness and the freshness are dialed down in favor for a more woody smell. So, a milder pineapple sweetness remains from the OG, but with a heavy, ambery dose of rum that turns Potion woodier. It is not truly woody, though, but more of a very soft and mild amber-iness. This is supposed to be the more serious version of the OG BXS and it is but it is not as woody as the notes and the accords suggest. The projection of Potion suffers compared to the original. It lasts but only very close to the skin with barely any aura, if any at all. A decent release and re-interpretation of the original Black XS. However, I like the smell of the original better. A more mature and nightly version. Big "Like".

Smells great, similar to the older brother, but not that raw citrus at the begining, very soft sweet, rum-powdery. It's modern, sexy, stylish and unisex composition. The big problem is the low/soft sillage-projection, mostly doesn't exist, longevity is better about 6 hours. I don't need Paco scents anymore, they are like expensive water with a tiny dose of fragrant juice, sadly, except 1 million which is very heavy in sillage and longevity. I sold all of them even though I love their smell...

It smells really nice, boozy and has a fruity sweetness to it. On me it did not last very long at all, to the point where I got rid of it. Its a really interesting and appealing scent but I just never wanted to wear it because of its performance. Reading the previous reviews prior to purchasing it seemed like a tossup whether it would have good performance but I was hopeful, unfortunately it did not perform for me.

It's quite good, but not something different. I suppose it starts off like black xs or l'exces, but during the dry down it becomes 1 million. I already have l'exces,so won't be bothered with that one. Longevity and sillage are good.

Softer, woodier, less sweeter, quieter version of the original Black XS. A very likeable scent but less interesting than the original. If you are a fan of any of the Black XSs, you are extremely likely to like this one.

The scent on its own is excellent. Thats why I really disappointed about the performance, I wish it has more detectable projection

On me the first five minutes is like the original Black XS, but after that I get a sweet and woody rum which I really love. It has better longevity and silage than Black XS and Le Excess which I both have too.

It smells awesome.........to bad it doesn't last at all on my skin. Shame because I really do enjoy this one.

I don't usually talk about Longevity as a way to kick off my review but this stuff is VERY long lived on my skin and I'm notoriously unforgiving, so trust me folks... this one lasts. I tried Black XS Potion on the back of my hand yesterday afternoon and despite washing my hands several times since then & showering this morning I can still very faintly smell it on my skin. As for the fragrance itself, I thought despite the glaring similarities to the original that the opening was a little deeper. Similar to the way that A*Men flankers are different but still in essence the same thing, just with more emphasis on certain aspects. These aspects in this case are a intensity of labdanum and booze which give a slightly sharper and more high end feel to what is essentially the same very sweet, fruity, wood fragrance as the original. As it dries down it's harder to identify the difference it's still a bit chocolatey like the original and still has that dense wood, tulu balsam and berry notes. So if you're expecting a vast difference be prepared for disappointment, however if you like the original you might even like this better. The projection and longevity are huge as I mentioned and I much prefer the bottle for this one due to that cool wax seal thing. The same can be said of this as the original, something inside me loves the initial smell of Black XS and it's sweet unique nature. In perspective though I can't help but find it cloying and unpleasant after a while and not something I'd be happy to wear, especially with it's strength and persistence.

Just got a 100ml bottle for £32 in Debhenams in the UK. The lady said it was a "hot deal". I took it. Due to my love of the original Black XS which is now reformulated and weak. I also own L'excess - however I prefer this quite a bit. This is close to the original Black XS, in spirit anyway. It's like a mix between Black XS and CH VIP MEN. Much sexier than the original. Great projection and longevity. Not received any compliments on this so far but it's only new. Saying that, I was never complimented on the original formulation of Black XS, I just wore it because I liked the scent. Great summer night scent. Could be worn during the day too, though it is very sweet so not in high temperatures. Can't see this being a work scent. Perfect date/summer night scent. Sits beautifully in the warm air. Who should buy this? People that loved the original formulation of Black XS that lasted and projected like a beast. This is along those veins. Not as loud, I don't think. But darker and sexier. The name is suiting. Check it out. 7.5/10

This is a sweet and sour concoction! I don't detect any of the listed notes. I detect a tart citrus accord similar to rhubarb and a fruity red berry accord. That's it - it's that linear. I tested this a Sephora in an airport during a layover in July 2016. In an overzealous fashion, I sprayed this on a tester card and immediately sprayed it on my wrists two times. Once I boarded the plane an hour later, I could still clearly smell the Potion beaming from my wrists. I became concerned that it would suffocate/trigger the fragrance sensitivity of another passenger. To help alleviate any triggers, I remember keeping my arms close as to not let the fragrance project freely off my arm. The tester card was in my pocket and, to be sure, I put it on my carry-on! I found the projection to be a beast!

If the original Paco Rabanne XS was the good angle on your shoulder, clean and zesty, very attractive and alluring in the day then this is the Devil which come out at night. If the woman who previously commentated how nice you smelt with the original XS musters up courage to say you smell great and pinches your bum which has happened to me, then if you get a date with her and your wear this at night. It is like the bad devil. She will recognize the DNA, but she knows that tonight she will have red satin sheets out and black candles burning with a mirror in on the ceiling while her blood red nails she carves your back.

Took me a while to get used to the sweetness of this.. Not usually black XS fan at all, but this is a WHOLE lot better. I sprayed one tiny bit on my arm, just to remind myself of the smell. My other half walked in 5 minutes later and told me how it stunk out the whole room, in a good way. Getting us both a new bottle each before its too hard to find - why do they keep discontinuing the good ones? I know they were only limited edition but armani had diamonds black carat, paco rabanne has this.. They're both stronger and better than the originals, why make them limited edition?

I disagree with the reviews that say it doesn't last or project. Some seem to still think that if they don't smell their own fragrance that it's gone. This is a beautiful fragrance that does last and project well. It's a complete compliment magnet from both women and men Everytime i wear it and I keep this in my collection and will make sure I always have it because it smells better than every other male fragrance that I have. Never listen to reviews. Try for yourself. Many great frags get lots of hate here for no reason at all and many horrible ones get hyped.

This should have been called Sugar potion XL. I could detect some sourness when sprayed on a scentstrip (Juniper Berry perhaps) which excited me but unfortunately leaves in 2 minutes leaving syrupy synthetic sweetness... and on my skin, no sourness at all but extremely sweet. Reminds of my nightclubbing days when I felt nauseous from lingering cheap sweet girls perfume in the air. Probably made by some female singer like Beyonce or Mariah Carey. I can't detect any of the other notes on my skin and this should have been marketed as a unisex scent. Disappointing!

Black XS Potion has just been released so a lot of these rating are false . I went to a store to try out many new scents and test this one . It is by far of the best and beat the others by miles. Its different to the other paco ones. Its strong and first impression was a warm alluring floral scent. Almost like roses but better :) I actually think the scent is way nicer than 1 million also . Its nothing like the black xs or smells pineapple either. However my sample was from a official supplier . A Great new fragrance for 2014.

This is a really nice smell. I originally bought this without sampling first, on recommendation of other users that it is similar to other black xs fragrances, if you like those, you will like this. The composition of this black xs potion is more complex and elegant, I find it smell a little of strawberries (good thing) also on top of the above mentioned notes. This perfume is not at all diluted and it projects and lasts just as well. Another great iconic fragrance from Paco Rabbane.

Guys if someone wants to read and follow your reviews, then I am sure that the fragrance industry will be out of business. Please leave taste for yourselves. I am sure non of you would like the arabian scents, as the arabs won't love the western ! Everyone has a taste. As for this fragrance, and at least on my skin, I sprayed it today at 11 am Till now its 6 and I can still smell it. Would fit more for a night club or a date.

The smell is really good and I am reminded of Pure Malt in a less mature way. The rum note is a "feeling" of rum, not the real smell. The longevity and projection, at least on my skin, are on the low side of things. Does anyone have the same problem? I think this is meant to be sweat, because I can't smell it after the first 15 minutes of applying unless I reach my nose directly to my skin. All in all, a nice smell.

I have been testing this for two days. Starts with sweet rum, woody notes comes out afterwards and lingers there as rum calms down.Its ending is similar to original black xs. As far as the longevity and sillage this Potion is way better of course. I got ten hours of longevity on my skin.

guys, need your help.. i do want to buy this as i really like the original Black XS.. the issue is that i am wondering if this Black XS potion is really similar with the original XS??. as i do love the original Black XS, i want to get something different than the original one. Thanks

I didn't smell the original but it reminds me By Dolce & Gabbana anthology le fou 21 which is a good perfume btw, but this one is sweeter. I just bought it and this is my initial review based on a couple of sprays. Will update later regarding the sillage and longevity

Honestly this is amazing. Blind buy for me - bought it from a guy selling vintage limited fragrances. I am a fan of the 2005 Black XS and decided to buy this and I am impressed. Sweet, seductive rum dessert - that is how I would describe it.

found it in my dad's drawer and he hasnt used in years as my mom wouldnt let him spray it for how intoxicating it is, but i love it. Smells fruity and is really potent. I like overspraying it a bit and it stays with me for a full school day.

Got this for father's day. Smells great. Wanted it because i love projection and longevity, But after an hour I get almost nothing.it is june. Maybe it will perform better in fall and winter. I hope so otherwise this is a bust!

Tried this today, its certainly a good addition to the Black XS line, 1st impressions for me are similar to L'exces but more woody than sweet. certainly not as loud either! overall id say 7.5/10

How’s one guy get 15 mins of longevity and the next guy gets 20 plus hours .. something doesn’t quite add up , I think I’m done reading these reviews before I buy anything

Smelt this today and i feel this is like a summer version of the original black XS for men. It got a sweetness in the dry down but on first sniff is very fruity and woody

Actually, the notes seem perfect for a wintery fragrance. It would be a nice Christmas gift for my husband. What a shame that the release is scheduled for 2014.
