Mesh Metal

Bought and wore through the official Rabanne 10ml travel sample, kept thinking about it. Found a brand new bottle for $200 and pounced on it. The opening has a strong ambery lime note, it’s a little sour, a little sweet, a little hazy (it will make sense when you smell it). Backed up by the very green petigrain, this opening is very nice. The orange blossom is where the white floral edge comes from, and stays slightly sweet straight through the dry down. The ambergris keeps the entire thing clean, and slightly fresh. This isn’t a 1 Million kind of sweet. It’s different, more like a cocktail. I easily get 12 hours on skin, and can smell it on my clothes the next day. The projection is strong for the first hour or so, but then becomes much more intimate; which I actually enjoy about this scent. You catch wafts of it all day without choking out the room. This is perfectly unisex. There’s nothing I would change about this fragrance, honestly. In my opinion, it’s a home run. Everytime I see the bottle, which is quite hefty with an excellent atomizer, I look forward to wearing it again. You get a good, heavy spray, and I find 3 sprays to be perfect. I actually think you could wear this year round, except maybe the peak of summer. I am admittedly a fan of most things Paco Rabanne, so I will definitely look into more of the private line.

Classy but oversweet orange blossom; note list may lead you to expect something brisk and masc - and no denying the ambergris at the bottom gives extra heft, helping to eke it out and stay present for up to 6h - but overall it just got a little too syrupy for my taste. Reminded me strongly of Sylvaine Delacourte's orange-blossom efforts, especially Ozkan, which are infinitely cheaper and feel a little less money-grabby. Mesh Metal is absolutely respectable, robust enough to be unisex, and worth wearing any time - but not worth shelling out the gougy RRP for in my view. Not at all bad but a little basic for the price point.

Well. One of my favourite from the collection. Creamy, soft, vanila ambery. 8/10. Not metallic as I expected it to be and that's disappointing. Good performance though.

Masculine citrus freshy. Probably the nicest one of the whole line. Definitely overpriced for what it is.

Orange blossom and citrus notes opening, then a dense synthetic mix, ambergris, probably ambroxan, something metallic to my nose...I think it has many undisclosed notes in the lines of Ambroxan/Orcanox/Cetalox? I don't like it.

Not a huge citrus fan simply because I've gotten so used to the synthetic ones that make my head hurt after awhile. And while this one did indeed make my head hurt, it's not at all because it was too sharp (just smelled too many samples in one sitting). It's a very lovely scent, reminiscent of an elevated key lime pie (my favorite!) but more lime than pie. The sweetness is extremely subtle. I haven't done a wear test yet, but even on the strip it started to fade pretty quickly. Makes me a bit nervous for the longevity but I probably wouldn't reach for this too often anyway. Anyone else confused by the name? I was not at all expecting a bright, refreshing citrus opening with a name like "Mesh Metal" but here we are.

Stood out the most to me of this line. The sparkly lime only lasts for some seconds though, then it’s mostly petitgrain. I also smell some rosa verde in it.
