Million Gold

Today I'm moving over to the 1 Million line and reviewing one of the newest in the line, Million Gold. Why they decided to drop the 1 and add Gold, I have no idea, but I'll go along with it. From what I understand, this one has gotten some mixed reviews. Some people say it's a fine offering in the line, with others saying it's terrible, and some even go as far as to say it smells like body odor. Historically speaking, the 1 Million line is one that I've enjoyed, with 1 Million Prive being one of my favorite fragrances ever. Is this new Million Gold a good continuation of the line? Let's get into it and find out. Scent: The opening is citrusy, woody, and spicy. There are only four notes: sandalwood, cedarwood, mandarin orange, and spices. The strongest of the notes are the sandalwood and mandarin orange. The sandalwood starts off the fragrance with a solid dose of creamy woodiness, very typical of the note. It is comparable to the sandalwood note I get from LV Lovers or Santal 33, but leans more buttery than spicy or "pickle-y" like those fragrances. The mandarin orange comes in behind to help offset the woodiness with a burst of citrusy freshness. It definitely leans more tart than sweet, but it isn't overbearing and gives the sandalwood room to breathe. Up next are the spices and cedarwood. The spices are not overtly noticeable in the opening as spicy notes usually are. They definitely play more of a supporting role here and offer some spicy depth to the opening. Lastly, the cedarwood is barely present in the form of a dry woodiness, distinguishable from the sandalwood by its "pencil shaving" accord. It's very faint, though. If you told me there wasn't any, I'd believe you. The dry down is still citrusy, woody, and spicy. The notes are the same, obviously, and the strongest of the notes are sandalwood and spices. The sandalwood is still the highlight of the fragrance in the dry down, and still has the same creamy and buttery woody accord. The spices follow behind, but at a distance. There's some warm spiciness there, but only a touch of it. This is followed by the mandarin orange and cedarwood. Both notes are barely there, but you can pick out some of the tart citrus and dry woodiness from the mandarin and cedarwood if you look for it. Honestly, the dry down is mostly just a sandalwood bomb, reminiscent of Santal 33, with accents here of citrus and spice here and there. Performance: Initial projection within the first hour was surprisingly powerful and filled the room I was in. Sillage matched this intensity with a heavy scent trail. After about 4 hours I was astonished to see that it was still performing just as well as when I first sprayed it. At the 7 hour mark the projection was still about 4-6 feet and the scent trail was still easily noticeable. The fragrance lasted about 11-12 hours before fading away into a skin scent. When to wear: Million Gold is a versatile fragrance that can be worn day or night, all year round. Its use case is versatile as well, and I feel it will work for any occasion; casual, formal, or even office wear. Blind buy: If you like sandalwood-heavy fragrances like Santal 33 or LV Lovers, this is a safe blind buy for you. Final verdict: Million Gold ended up being something very different than I thought it would be. Based on my previous experience with the Million line, I was expecting something spice-heavy. While there was some spice and some citrus reminiscent of the other fragrances in the line, the sandalwood really took prominence here. It was honestly a pleasant surprise, because I love sandalwood-forward fragrances. LV Lovers is my signature scent for a reason, and while this isn't a stand-in at all for LV Lovers or even Santal 33, it will give you that same vibe. Performance was, again, surprisingly powerful. Room-filling projection and heavy scent trails for the first few hours, and lasting nearly 12 hours before becoming a skin scent. For such a simple sandalwood fragrance, that's pretty impressive. Versatility is very high as I feel this could be worn pretty much anytime you want and for any occasion. Mass-appeal is decent; most people enjoy the scent of sandalwood. However, some might find the note "pickle-y," and there's also the mysterious cumin note in here that some people get. I don't, but it might throw some people off. In conclusion, I was honestly impressed with Million Gold. I think this is a very solid start for this new "Million" line, and I'm curious to see what the new Million Gold Elixir has to offer. I'm not going to buy this one, but only because I already have LV Lovers and it would be redundant to own both (and LV Lovers is better anyway). Still, if you're in the market for an affordable but well-made sandalwood fragrance, Million Gold is an excellent place to start. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10 Sillage: 10/10

Million Gold by Paco Rabanne begins with an immediate and invigorating burst of fresh citrus, capturing attention right from the first spray. This progression from bright citrus to warm woods is seamless, showcasing the fragrance's complexity without becoming overwhelming. There's a subtle hint of sweetness throughout, possibly from a light touch of vanilla, which adds a soft, comforting layer without making the scent overly sweet. Interestingly, while spices are listed among the notes, they remain quite subtle in the composition. They may contribute a gentle warmth but don't stand out individually. The only spices I can really pick up is light vanilla. It enhances the overall blend, ensuring that the fragrance maintains its smooth and cohesive character. The result is a scent that's both fresh and refined, suitable for various occasions. Million Gold excels as a summery fragrance, perfect for warm weather when you want something light yet substantial. The citrus notes keep it bright and energetic, making it ideal for daytime wear, while the woody undertones provide enough depth for evening transitions. Its versatility is one of its strong suits, appealing to those who appreciate a fragrance that's easy to wear but still carries a touch of elegance. In terms of performance, the fragrance offers good longevity, with the woody base notes lingering on the skin for hours. The projection is moderate, making it appropriate for both personal and social settings without being overpowering. It's a scent that can be worn comfortably in close encounters yet is noticeable enough to garner compliments. In short: Million Gold by Paco Rabanne is a refreshing and versatile fragrance that opens with vibrant citrus and creamy sandalwood, later revealing a warm cedarwood base. It's a well-balanced, summery scent perfect for those seeking a fresh yet sophisticated fragrance.

I love this fragrance, it could totally be a separate fragrance instead of the Million Line (this and the Million Elixir could belong to the same sepearte one and call the latest Eau de Parfum Gourmand). This is one of the most refined (while projecting) sandalwood based fragrance I've tried. I can actually smell the quality and the tender texture of an amazing sandalwood, mixed with a sweet and spicy citrusy mist slowly dancing and pulsating around the "powdery" and creamy sandalwood (the star). I talked about it so much that my boyfriend tested and boy... it lasts forever on clothes, basically until washing, it projects like crazy, reaches very very far, almost teletrasports like a ghost (when a perfume does that trick, I cannot deny the mastery of its creator) always with a gentle movement, it invites you to love it whenever it's in the area, but it's not agressive, spiky or a control freak at all. This is a lovely perfume built on a very refined and high quality formula, without a single doubt. Although I think anyone can wear it, beacuse we can and must wear what we truly love, at any season, I prefer to smell this on a masculine person, I get very entranced when it projects from my beautiful man, I just wanted to lean into his chest and arms when he wore it.

First impressions. Slight, ever so slight, BARELY, but maybe just detectable to a seasoned fragrance enthusiast Million Gold in the opening does have a small hint of Santal 33. But no where near enough that it warrants selecting Santal 33 as the “this perfume reminds me of” Drys down to a very easy to wear male fragrance, I would use the term “generic man’s cologne smell” but that seems a bit harsh considering I’ve only been wearing it for about 1 hour. Spices are definitely detectable, other fragrances that come into my mind are Muglers Pure Malt and the Little Trees “New Car Scent” air freshener. Overall it smells good. No doubt. And no where near as sweet as your other One Million flankers, I detect very little sweetness in this at all, it’s definitely more versatile and can easily be worn by the age 30+ crowd, heck I reckon even a grandpa can pull this off with ease. Performance seems pretty good, nothing nuclear but not lacking either. Satisfactory projection so far. Versatility is Million Gold’s biggest strength from what I have smelt so far. You can wear this in the office with no worries, Date, no worries, night out on the town with the boys, no worries!

1 Million Gold is an aromatic, woody, and spicy fragrance. Its opening is fresh and aromatic, containing some citrus and a kind of ozonic note, reminiscent of violet leaves, which lend part of this fragrance's appeal. Over time, the aroma of spices increases, as well as a rather pleasant-smelling sandalwood accord, which remains so until the end of its development. This version of 1 Million is more aromatic and fresher than some of the releases from previous years, making it more versatile; it could be worn during almost all four seasons, with the exception of extremely hot days. Its scent is suitable for both casual and formal situations, parties, office work, school, etc. Its longevity was 8 hours on me, but I will wear it again because I really liked its scent and will update the longevity if it becomes better. The sillage is average. I can't say it's the best version of 1 Million in recent years, because that's subjective, but it is the version I've liked the most since they released 1 Million Prive.

Sampled this and found myself keep wanting a bottle. I will likely find a tester or 50ml some day. I’m not some guru about the notes section, but you get a nice crisp opening that quickly settles into a nice calm sandalwood fragrance with tiny spicy nuances. The first thing that comes to mind for me personally was a soothing and comforting scent. I liked its calm nature, I may be the only one and that’s cool. I am just expressing how it made me feel when wearing. I see lots of folks talk about body odor, however I get absolutely 0% of that. Wonder if it’s a skin chem thing or what. Anyways, I think you should at least sample this one, it’s not the sugary sweet 1 Million we typically know from the Macy’s counter. This is the relaxed brother that’s just kind of there for the ride. Nothing ground breaking, but also, not typical freshly or sweet fragrance. Any time any where besides a hot hot day.

Smells like a typical Quentin Bisch creation with a noticeable dose of Akigalawood in the base. I really don’t get the hate around this one; to me it’s a great, versatile dumb-reach fragrance that works in almost any season and situation. The performance is average and it’s easy to go noseblind to this one, but it just smells fantastic. Very masculine, slightly spicy and citrusy on a warm woody base. I understand why some people say this can smell like BO or dill pickles, but it really isn’t nearly as bad as it’s made out to be. It might develop a slight BO vibe if heavily oversprayed, but I get the same effect with most Akigalawood-based fragrances; especially Ganymede, Bois Impérial, Le Sel d’Issey and Purpose 50, all of which are masterpieces in my book. Chances are, if you like any of these fragrances, you’ll appreciate this one as well.

I love this. It's got the one million dna, for sure, it's just that it hides quietly in the background, but it is definitely present. And, without doubt it has that Santal 33 dna. It's no clone, though, as it does its own thing. The blending is so smooth. Quentin Bisch is a genius imo. From the first spray it captures my attention and keeps me loving to catch whiffs of it in the air. The longevity is incredible, and it pushes off of my skin strongly for 3-4 hours at about 4-6 feet range, so my daughter tells me. I dont get why this fragrance is so underrated..? If I had to guess I would say that it's just because it isn't a typical million flanker, and most were probably expecting something different. I'd highly recommend it...

I purchased this fragrance when it was first released blindly. Initially, I wasn’t particularly fond of it, but over time I found myself drawn back to it over and over again. What sets it apart is its uniqueness within the Million line, it smells very different from the rest. I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. It projects noticeably for at least five hours and lingers on the skin for much longer. The scent carries a blend of woods and spices, but it isn’t too mature. In my opinion, it strikes a perfect balance, making it quite versatile. Since it’s so unique anyone can smell it distinctly in a room full of people. One of my top 5 for sure..

One of my favorites and by far my best performing frag our of 60+ bottles. If you are a fan of peppery/spicy frags this will work well for you. I could aee how some may not like it due to a slight floral scent underneath everything but it blends so well that it's an overall pleasing scent from initial spray to dry down. This one will definitely last 10+ hours, PROJECTING the whole time, with just 2 sprays. You cannot overspray this one as you'll definitely be getting some looks. I have the smaller bottle but ediscountperfumes has a tester on sale that I may pick up and keep on ice, that's how good this one is. Top 5 for me for sure.

Quentin is abusing the absolute shit out of his Givaudian privileges - and I'm honestly all for it. It might not be terribly unique, it might not be subtle nor loud. It's nothing inherently new. But this is mass-appeal spicy-powderiness done right. The dry down (at least on me) - is phenomenal and can survive a hurricane. Fragrantica doesnt list the proper notes but there is a big dose of Akigalawood (thanks to Givaudian) in here that persists until the end. There are many other notes that are not listed - but forget that, and forget the bad reviews. Get your nose on it if you haven't.

Obviously, a very polarizing fragrance. The 3.55 score is definitely underrated, mostly due to the useless, blind-following opinions of the TikTok generation. That’s what I truly think because there is absolutely no reason to bash this one. Give this fragrance some time, and it develops into a creamy, sweet, orangey, sexy scent. Ignore the influencers’ BS about body odor and the Santal 33 similarity—okay, there is sandalwood in it 👀, but this is a completely different fragrance. It has a truly unique scent, and I can definitely smell a mature Million DNA. Well done Rabanne 👏

This is really good. I have a big collection of fragrances, and I am really picky now before adding something to my collection, but this one is quite worth it. I may add it—it’s that good. It is very similar to Santal 33. I just sprayed Santal 33 on my wrist to compare it with 1 Million Gold, and my final verdict is that this cologne is a more wearable version of Santal 33, like a designer version of it. My best advice is not to blind buy—go to a department store and try it for yourself. But for me personally, I would rate this a solid 8.5.

Perfect type frag, universally likeable. I cannot see anyone on earth that will dislike this scent on a person. Not too sweet, not too perfumey. For my taste this is a 9.5/10 scent. So yes this is underrated. Super safe blind buy. The only thing is that this shouldnt have been a One Million frag, it has almost nothing to do with the og dna. This is very similar to a CK One or a Hugo Boss. If you like those you will absolutely love this. Supreme summer banger, Bisches absolute top level of spice blending. I bought this it's so good.

So creamy, dreamy, and smooth. Blond wood with a tiny bit of spice. Nothing cloying or sweet. I was sent a sample and tried it on my boyfriend after liking it on myself. We were both instantly impressed. Perfect timing so I could buy a full size bottle for his birthday, which is really partially a present for myself because I can't stop leaning in to smell him. I don't know how anyone doesn't like this. Feels almost blind buy safe for a man of any age. You can easily dress this up or down. It's just good.

I've tried it in the mall, just a spray on my forearm. The smell didn't been my attention in the first few minutes, but later the wiffs coming out were smashing and long lasting. I fall in love with it and i bought a 200ml bottle. It may have some similarites to JPG Paradise, but very different at the same time, it's an every weather fragrance that is much deeper and richer compared to JPG Paradise (which is a nice summer fragrance, but not for everybody). I think it worth every penny

Super Overhated simply because of how mainstream it is. Extremely pleasant, slightly citrusy smell with a slightly sweet tone in the cologne that makes it smell almost like a vanilla. Was quite surprised when I found out there were no vanilla notes in the first place. The drydown is quite good, as the smell remains quite similar, I will say that for a scent like this, I wish the sillage was a little bit better. Overall, surely in the top 10% of perfumes i've smelt. Love it. 9/10

Who controls what the accords and notes listed are? I’m surprised this doesn’t display a floral accord, as it’s quite floral and the rose comes through noticeably. Overall I think it’s lovely. Similar to the OG but more woody and less spicy. I think this could be worn year round. I also agree with the comment below that this is fairly unisex. I didn’t realize it before because I think it could definitely be a sexy man smell but the florals could also easily lend well to a woman.

What B.O.? I guess it's possible if you're a tree? Someone on YouTube mentioned that B.O. thing and it was laughable. But it's sad to see that comment/video playing with people's brains like this. I smell Sandalwood, and it's nice, not silly and cloying sweet. I like it. This is an initial test and I will give it more wearing, but I detect clean sandalwood, a variation (toned down) type of woods you find in Santal 33 with other sweeter notes.

One of my favorite fragrances i've ever smelled. 100% has that "oh fuck" effect, at least for me - my girlfriend wasn't as crazy about it but i like warm, spicy-sweet wintery fragrances a lot more than her. The only negative i can think of is it's not the manliest - i ended up pairing it with Carolina Herrera Bad Boy Elixir - but as a scent in general, by itself, it's addicting.

Some influencer said it smelled like BO. His nose is broken no doubt, and sadly some believed him and started parroting what he said. This is a really nice sweet sandalwood scent, nothing with it. I like it a lot...actually better than some niche sandalwood fragrances out there. Psychologically: a few words can create a false bias...this is a perfect example of it.

Best 1 million in a long while. More citrus than you might anticipate but it’s really excellent especially once it all dries down. The “sweat” smell people are complaining about is the pithy mandarin. I don’t know if you’ve ever smelled an overripe mandarin orange but it smells just like that. I like it. Seems bold. For me it’s a winner.

I get vibes "it's Quentin! Let's f him up",the same as with Morillas,all over this fragrance. It' actually nice fragrance. Doing awesome thing designers sre designed to do. Tho I'm not interested in compliments I got them a bunch. Nice relaxing all year around. I'm also allergic when influencers start hyping but try it at least.

Very nice flanker though a bit repetitive Long lasting Paco Rabanne and Quentin Bisch's craftsmanship guarantees well blended juice and an overall good quality I have 1 million Royal, Parfum, Scandal, Scandal Le Parfum, Bad boy extreme and few more in the same vein, so at some point, what's the point. Pass for now

I love this one. Starts off fresh and spicy. It has a nice sweetness to it. Dries down to a long lasting woodiness and the longevity is excellent off my skin. I can smell this all throughout the day. I guess I’m lucky that this really projects on me. This will be perfect for the autumn/fall through winter.

While the woody-spicy notes are very basic for a men’s cologne, the added mandarin sweetens it up a bit and is interesting. I have a tester of the intense version and I can see how it could become overpowering with more than 2-3 sprays. It’s a solid choice for an everyday wear or a casual night out.

Christopher Lee Fragrances Here - I Reviewed This On My YouTube A Month Ago. It smells like Golden Oud & Royal had a baby, it’s very oily. It’s not a sweet fragrance like the other 1 Millions. This is a Watery Nutty Woody fragrance. Kinda like Burberry London but higher quality.

Rabanne Million Gold edp intense. A simple fragrance with an enamoring scent profile. The duo of sandalwood and cedar blend beautifully with the spices. The mandarin in the opening is both inviting and complimentary to the aforementioned notes. Quentin Bisch has done it again.

First One Million that isn't a sweetness bomb and everyone is bashing it, after all the complaining that the line isn't creative. This is actually very nice if you wear it, fresh spicy woodiness that has great performance and gets a good number of compliments

The Million collection had its own identity, the freshness luxurious character it preserves through out the year. I liked this one ( just added to my shelf ), its easy of the nose, can be worn day or night ( Mostly for a classy evening outing). Over All 8/10

It smells like a super luxurious hotel in the middle of the jungle, if you are a fan of sandalwood this is for you, I find it very fresh and relaxing, my wife only likes this one and the original edt

i have a sample of this and i didn't even know it was a men's perfume. it's so tasty, the mandarin is so warm and im tempted to buy a full size. it's become my signature scent.

I don't get the hate. I absolutely love this. Smells exactly like mandarin with a heavy dose of sandalwood and cinnamon. It's sweet, enjoyable, and unique to me.

Love this scent, the note combination comes off peppery to my nose and it's also got great performance. Definitely one of my favorite pickups this year.

I want to ask you a question. I'm torn between this and 1 Million Parfum. I want to use it as a signature scent. What would be your recommendation?

The absolute best out of the Paco juice. I have received many compliments, personally love the smell, and it lasts forever. This is a stunner.

This is very good. More on the woody side. A spicy sandalwood, long lasting scent. That is good for year around. Try it on a 5 ml decant.

As someone who enjoyed the original 1 Million back in the day, this is a good trip down memory lane, it has been a while but to my nose this smells quite similar to the OG, but it smells a little cleaner and smoother, but other than that it has the same fresh spiciness and semi-smokey woody accord from the sandalwood, nice masculine fragrance that's good for all Seasons aside from summer and I can see this being good for all occasions but maybe not formal occasions (atleast in my opinion), however I can see why people can not like this as the way the spiciness is done in this fragrance, is either a hate or love, which for me is a love lol. Good medium projection and excellent longevity. Final Versdict for me is a strong 7.5/10, objectively I think it could be scored a little lower, but due to bringing back good memories, I decided to elevate it to a 7.5 instead of a 7.0 or 7-adjacent

Note breakdown is missing cypriol, Quentin's beloved akigalawood, leather and more importantly rose, which there is a lot of, like in the Elixir flanker. I have no idea how the perfumer managed to include the whole 1 million formula along with a totally different fragrance on top, but that's pretty much what's happening here and at different stages will remind you of both 1 Million Parfum and JPG Le Beau Paradise Garden. It's not a super common or safe scent even though it might seem like it. I like it and kind of don't at the same time! it's noticeable but also pretty lackluster, lighter than all other flankers. Some people also mentioned a BO-like smell, while I understand where they are coming from, it's no different than the use of spices in Versace Eros Flame and other similar fragrances.

Reminds me a lot of Santal Umeshu by Scents Of Wood, which I own. Million Gold is not nearly as strong or complex. They are both creamy and fruity sandlewood fragrances. Umesha comes off a little more salty, fruitier and coconut-like sun screeny.. They both have this green citrus thing going on as well. They are like cousins I swear. Unfortunately they discontinued Santal Umeshu and it's very upsetting, but I guess this could be an ok replacement.. I think they share Davana.. This Million Gold I believe has some cinnamon orangy vibes and santal umeshu has a completely different boozy fruit accord this doesn't have. Million Gold could have been so much more complex if it tried to be as niche quality like Santal Umeshu.. for the love of Bacchus! Bring back Santal Umeshu..

Like several other reviewers, I get a definite fig note from this: milky-green, with a mild freshness to it, like sweet leaf-sap. I do get a bit of fruitiness here, but it reads more like the fresh, sweet mulchiness of fig than like citrus to me. Beneath that, I get a smooth, paper-and-powder wood note, almost more of a texture than a scent. Like when you brush your palms over a freshly sanded piece of wood to sweep away the coating of silky-smooth wood dust. I don't get spiciness from this at all. It is warm, but it's the mild, ambient warmth of sunlight in a dusty woodworker's shed in springtime. Outside of the shed's small window, the trees have regained their young leaves, beckoning you to take a break, come out of the shed, and breath in their fresh greenness.

To start with I don't like the OG 1 Million EDT and after trying the Million Elixir and Royal I found them to be way too sweet for my taste even though I fancy sweet fragrances, I was certain that the Million Gold is not going to be very appealing to me . To my surprise today I tried it and it is definitely my most favorite of the whole line. As soon as I smelled it I got the resemblence of Creed Milessime Imperial (citrusy, fresh, marine) and Van cleef & Arpels Santal Blanc (sweet and powdery) . I love both of these fragrances and the Million Gold smells like a combination of these two at least to my nose. Can't say anything about longevity and projection but I would definitely buy a bottle of this beauty in the future.

Received a sample of this after a few wearings it reminds me of if you take the Spices they used in Wanted by Night (the Cumin and Cinnamon) and threw in that Sharp, punchy Sandalwood accord from Santal 33 over a little bit of the Mandarin/Amber signature of 1 Million; you get this. It projects and lasts pretty well like most Rabanne fragrances. I thought it was just okay though by far the furthest departure from the 1 Million line. It is very Woody, I think this is suitable for Night outs, dates in cool weather. If you dislike warm spices, and that punchy almost bitter Sandalwood accord you probably won't like this though.

I don’t get any BO, but the first time I wore this to work I over sprayed it and someone asked if it was me that smelled like a whore. In proper doses under clothing, you get a nice warm spicy, cozy envelope around you that dries down super smooth and creamy. I definitely want to add that when I tried this on paper it smelled NOTHING like when I got it out of the box. To be fair I had sampled several fragrances by the time I got to this, but I bought this and Montblanc Legend Blue at the same time because they smelled too similar to pick between. Maybe not a blind buy unless the notes really sing to you

One Million Gold is a completely different fragrance than the other One Millions. This sweet obsessed generation of frag wearers in their teens and 20's won't like this. It's definitely a scent for the more refined nose. The sandalwood/floral/citrus is prominent. It has a slight coconutty aspect as it wears. It's unisex, leaning masculine. Definitely more masculine than Vibrato or Tygar that the influencers have such a boner for lately which are quite feminine leaning. Overall Million Gold is nice. It's a good anytime/any season frag for the frag enthusiast.
