Phantom Legion

Something strange happened with this fragrance. The first time I tested it I got a very strong cannibus note that I never got with the original phantom which I own. I thought that was the difference between the both of these I ended up purchasing this collectors edition but upon wearing it I couldn’t pick up the cannibus note anymore and all it did was smell exactly like the original Phantom. I love this scent so much I’m not mad (you can say I got ripped off) but this is a very well done kind of unique delicious fragrance that doesn’t get the love it deserves Only thing I wish is it was stronger in performance

I click on 'love' button just because there are too many haters who even don't bother to test the scent they judge. Phantom is fresh, uplifting and appealing unisex perfume. In real life it looks cute and unusual, and it's well done. I have no idea why people here are so angry about it. Can you just pass it by and happily enjoy the fragrances that are worth leaving a feedback?

Just picked this up as a blind buy and I'm perfectly satisfied with it. Is it the best scent ever? Absolutely not. But I seriously don't understand why this has such low ratings. It's fresh, slightly sweet, aromatic, and a lot more mature than I was expecting. It is a bit synthetic, but it does not smell bad at all. If you find it for under $80, I'd recommend picking it up.

According to some reviews, this is identical to the original Phantom. Is it? There is a note in this that smells like pineapple; it must be the apple. This note/aspect is addictive to me. I feel like drinking it. I can't stop smelling my wrist when I apply it. I really like the fresh bouquet of Phantom but its appeal is irrational to me. Highly addictive, be careful.

This is an interesting one. There is a tart, almost sour note that makes my mouthwater like when I eat passion fruit. The notes almost clash, but I still enjoyed this one which is different from the original. (I know everyone says they are the same HOWEVER, I have tried both side by side in store! And this one is more tart! Am I losing it?

Phantom could definitely be a signature scent if you like that earthy,darker but sweet fragrance,it starts out very citrusy In the opening but dry down is so smooth and seductive, masculine, playful can definitely be worn to parties,I like the bottle I think the robot is cool,RIP Paco

Insanely overhated, doesn’t deserve 3.1. The notes listed are accurate, it opens with a damp and earthy lemon note with an undertone of lavender, and dries down to more prominent lavender, patchouli and vanilla notes, which is where the magic really is with this fragrance. With that being said, this fragrance isn’t anything special, but nothing to turn a blind eye to. I say try it a few times before you give it hate, it’ll grow on you.

I don't understand why this gets so much hate. Yes it's a bit synthetic but still it smells good. There's nothing groundbreaking about it but i like that it's refreshing. Almost feels like I'm wearing a cocktail. To me this smells like Mango, coconut, and lavander. Performance is moderate ideal for the spring/summer.

The notes are pretty accurate. It is a clean, lemony, smokey, woody with some hints of lavender. It isn't offensive and is pleasant. 7/10 for me and the bottle design is pretty awesome!!

@migs007 - note breakdown looks the same to me, they're just in a different order. So yeah, seems like it's the same frag in a different bottle...

Shameless money grab. Just make a limited edition by putting tacky camo on the bottle and charge extra $$$ for it. No change in formula which is unfortunately as Phantom is quite dreadful. Highly synthetic mess of a fragrance. Seems like they targeted Sauvage and asked themselves how they could make it more offensive. Add heaps of sickly sweet vanilla. Well done Paco Rabanne.

Likely one of the worst designers on the market. Might just be polarizing or something but I cannot stand this fragrance.

Nope, it's still the same fragrance. At least according to Paco Rabanne themselves. Here, have another quote, directly from Paco Rabanne's official website. This time the Spanish version: "La edición para coleccionistas Phantom Legion contiene el eau de toilette Phantom original para hombre." And again, same offer as before on the French site. You get the collector's bottle along with a sample of the original Phantom fragrance. You're supposed to try that sample and not open the collector's bottle until you've tried it. You like it, you can open the collector, you don't like it, you can send it back. Or the English international version (the page that comes up if you look for Phantom Legion via their search bar): "Phantom Legion collector edition contains the original Phantom eau de toilette for men." If you're perceiving a difference in fragrance it's either psychological (just like many people smell a more aquatic fragrance the moment you put something into a blue bottle, even if it's not aquatic at all) or due to batch differences/general reformulation. Buy a normal phantom bottle of the same batch, you'll have the same fragrance. I mean yeah, knock yourselves out, do whatever you want. But I'm trusting the statement on the official brand page more than what some random forum or some retailer decides to put forward as note/accord description in order to make a fresh sale. Paco Rabanne is very straightforward and clear about it being the original fragrance in a collector's bottle. If they had made it an all new creation I'm sure they'd be proudly tooting their own horn about it on their own page. But they are not. They say it's the same juice, period. It's really precious how defensive people seem to get about a simple fact like that.

@Migs007 If you don't want to believe the official company's press release, pray, do go to Paco Rabanne's official homepage where on the French language version it's already being advertised and up for sale. Use google translate if you need to. It clearly says "Redécouvrez Phantom, le nouveau parfum connecté pour homme de Paco Rabanne* en édition collector.", key-word 'redécouvrez' = rediscover! as in rediscover their recently released perfume Phantom. And if that's not hint enough for you, look at their 'try-before' offer, in which you get the collector's flacon but also a little sample of *DRUMROLL* the original Phantom fragrance! They say try the little sample of the original Phantom and if you like it keep your collector's bottle, and if you don't you can return the unopened box with the collector's bottle and get your money back. Maybe believe the brand's own statements and sale's strategy rather than the privately entered note pyramids here? With a bit of experience here you'll quickly learn that the note pyramids here are often widely off.

For reviews to this specific fragrance visit the fragrantica page for the original Phantom fragrance, as it is the same fragrance, just in a collector's bottle. There already is an option for rating comments/reviews non-helpful, which is the thumbs down button. If enough people downvote, the comment will vanish. No offense taken if it happens for this comment too, of course. I do think, however, it should be possible to express your opinion without name-calling people. That's just me though. Generally, I do agree, pages for collector's bottles containing the same juice are redundant and so are obviously all comments below it, including this one. I wish fragrantica would do away with those extra entries and just add pics of the collector's bottles to the original fragrance entry. As it is, however, I won't get tired to comment on such "same juice in collector's bottle" entries, so people don't end up buying expecting something new, when it's really just the same old fragrance.

George Orwell warned us about "Phantom Legion" in his lesser-known novel "1987." Orwell envisioned a dystopian world where "metal hoops are strung through the chest" (nipple rings), "autos snort lithium like it was Charlie Sheen's cocaine pile" (the electric car), and "small men of little talent enjoy decadence while you mop up vomit" (Johnny Galecki). Orwell also sagely wrote of "a new class of men" who "possess little tiny droids that...spray their masters with the now-sensual aroma of uncooked bacon." After reading that line and sampling "Phantom Legion," I am convinced that Orwell wrote not with a ballpoint pen, but a crystal ballpoint pen! "Phantom Legion" is not so much a fragrance as it is an excuse to visit a fetish resort and have an obese dominatrix violently slap you with foam Hulk hands. All of that lavender gets stuck in my sinuses and turns my sneezes a mild shade of purple. Recommended only if you have a man-bun.

Once again, whoever has tried Phantom has also tried Legion as it is THE SAME FRAGRANCE according to the company's own press release and sales pitch. Same fragrance in a priced-up collector's bottle. So anyone who is slamming the fragrance is absolutely entitled to their opinion as long as they could get their nose on Phantom before. Rather than lecturing others on what they can have an opinion on, some people here really need to learn that sometimes it's better to really know what you're talking about before jumping the gun in defending a billion dollar company. Again, if you loved Phantom and have the spare money to splurge on a collector's bottle by all means go for it! This is Phantom in a different bottle nothing else. How is that so hard to grasp?

Many people hit the "hate" rating above without even trying this out. That shows us the sad level of civility (and brains) that exists in these forums, and on the internet in general. The user below, Dvntex_ thinks he knows the exact meaning of the words "talent" and "art". I can't wait to try Phantom Legion, as I'm optimistic about a new release. I won't judge a book by its cover. Update: I've already tried the original one, and it's nice. Left a review there. Not sure if Fragrantica needs to make a whole new profile page for different bottles when it's the exact same composition. Just add it to the original.

@Amarul I'm obsessed with giving a counterweight to people pulling baseless BS out of their behinds ;) This website is in big parts supposed to help people make purchase decisions and it doesn't help anyone to claim something is a new fragrance when it is not. People should know what they are buying. If you want to call that dense that says more about you than me. And yes, fragrances are a passion of mine so I do dedicate a lot of time to it and it's my prerogative. If you don't have the luxury, I'm sorry for you, but it's not really my problem, is it? I actually really like this stuff. This is the original Phantom juice just inside a collector's edition bottle. I mainly get vanilla, lemon and lavender which smell great together, but the distinctive qualities of this fragrance come from the smoky and earthy notes. I love fragrances with distinctive qualities that make them easier to perceive and pick up in the air. Fragrances without these qualities are more forgettable and much easier to go nose blind to. The longevity and sillage also seem to be pretty good, especially for an EDT.

I have 0 idea why Phantom is so low ranked. For the record this special edition of Phantom is only a new bottle, it is the exact same juice as the regular Phantom. I'm 34 and love Phantom. It doesn't smell like any of my 70 fragrances I own and has a pleasant smell that I enjoy smelling on me. My wife loves it too. I would definitely give Phantom a try, before just completely tossing it to the side, because of bad reviews.

@gkanary this fragrance is already in the public's hands as it is just the original Phantom juice in a collectors bottle. Quote from the fragrantica PR article: "Paco Rabanne's newest pillar, launched in July 2021, now gets a collector bottle in the same robot design as the first edition, now covered with a camouflage motif. The composition remains the same, (...)" Same juice, different bottle with an upped price.

I'm laughing at the clowns who said this is exactly the same as phantom because they obviously haven't tried it its completely different . Tip for anyone looking to buy a fragrance is never ever take reviews on this seriously.

Not even digital camo that would better match the robot. The execution here has been so utterly bizarre with this frag, which, tbh, I don’t find horrible; but some of the people behind this make WAY too much money.

Everyone below me is saying “this is the same fragrance with camouflage bottle” Did you even read the main accords? They are completely different, this is a new fragrance.

@Migs007, did you check the promotional photo released by Puig (PR's owner)... only collector's bottle. Notes breakdowns are not the most trusty part of Fragrantica.

I think it's kinda fun and interesting for a mass appealing designer type of deal. The earthy thing it dries down to is a little bit different.

Wow, another tacky bottle. I guess it appeals to some, but my husband has long expressed his disgust with the robot bottle.

Phantom was one of my most regrettable purchases of 2021. They're going to make this STRONGER? Good god, have mercy.
