Ultrared Man

This stuff is great! Definitely the best, and perhaps only designer summer gourmand that money can buy, and by FAR the very best release from the house of Paco Rabanne. On top you are initially greeted with a very pleasant, yet unlisted anise note, and then just minutes later, sweet, juicy, delicious blood orange joins the party which is then followed by a very well done caramelized, nutty, praline accord and a small dose of (also unlisted) sandalwood as well. Although there is a bit of vanilla present in the opening, it doesn't begin to truly assert itself and combine with the everlasting blood orange note until after about an hour or so, creating a heavenly creamsicle vibe that smells wonderful and persists throughout. There is definitely some semblance to Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin in this fragrance because of the praline, anise, and vanilla combination, however, this time, the sharp, synthetic licorice of that fragrance is welcomely absent, replaced instead by the juicy, unique, summery citrus scent of blood orange. Although this IS a sweet fragrance (it's a gourmand!), it's "sweetness" is balanced perfectly by a very subliminal sandalwood and the scent itself never becomes too heavy, nor will it become cloying in sweltering heat or overcrowded rooms. This is a light, meticulously well-crafted designer gourmand, making "Ultrared" is THE quintessential summer scent for any gourmand fan out there. If you love these edible types of fragrances (as many women do, guys!), and want something that smells sweetly sublime, yet doesn't repulse in the oppressive heat of summer, look no further than PR's, Ultrared. This fragrance will makes Hanae Mori's "HM" EDP", another citrus-gourmand, smell almost rank in a side-by-side, summer, comparison. Save that scent for the winter, guys. That's when it was MEANT to be worn. Yes, it does smell like mint and candied lemons off the top, but that DOES NOT MEAN it was meant for summer! Paco Rabanne's yummy and sadly discontinued, "Ultrared", is. EDIT: I get about 6-7 hours of projection and about 9 or so of longevity on this pup, both of which are very respectable. It's a fantastic, delicious, scent, it just isn't the most refined. OVERALL: 8/10.

I'm not always loving the vanilla frags because often they are too sweet and this has the modern note of praline so I bought on a gut feeling - hesitantly. But man this is simply exquisitely balanced. Masterpiece comes to mind. Fresh and youthful just how I like them. Bridging the summer vibe with solid autumn or winter wearability. Casual and laidback personality. Reminds me slightly of Facconable Legacy, but better and more likeable. Both Ultraviolet and Ultrared are sooooo good. I like this one the most but thinking of buying Ultraviolet too now. They certainly do not make mens frag like this anymore. This style of freshness is nowhere on the scene now. This is 2008, a true Segway between the old style and modern frags. The packaging and bottle is outstanding on this one. Solidifying the satisfaction of the buy. Found it easily online and didn't pay a third of a common designer frags that lack this uniqueness. New possible signature for me and I don't say that often. If it only performs decently I will not complain on any single thing. I'm 40 and will not hesitate to wear. Silly to say only teenager can smell this good and that with age you have to let go of the magic? And no this is not le male exilir, where exilir is obnoxiously sweet and jumbled with too much going on, this strikes a finer line of the right amount of vanilla to citrus. Patchouli for that solid green backbone that makes the dry down stay outdoorsy instead of makeup powder. This is youthful yes but not plain, smells like a vibrant playful man with positive attitude and a sense of fashion to me. But if you hate frags like Hugo Boss and Abercrombie maybe not for you. I get some real Armani Code (the OG strong one) mixed with Fahrenheit in the dry stage. So that would be tonka/vanilla doing that and I suspect a unlisted violet hidden in the heart. 5/5. What a jackpot, just blind buy this.

Just bought 2 bottles because if the price drop. (10$ a 1.7 bottle!) and it was on my want list as im interested in gourmands lately (since my Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin adventure) As LLAM has this liquorice high pinch here it is in the top by blood orange. Its fantastic! its simple and its mesmerizing because what I SMELL is what i SEE in the top-mid and basenotes. Its plain THAT simple and thats why i like this also. Starts blood-orange zesty for 2-4 mins. Then evolving in a rapid tempo to a warm vanilla-praline combo! where vannila is in the background coming up and i think the tonka holds its sweetness up. Im not sure about the longevity because maybe my dry skin absorbds all these days in winter time. The praline is never cloying! its well behaved and never too sweet. It should named Ultra-Eatable and i think (me disliking Ultraviolet) its a shame this one is sparingly available and almost out of stock. I always ignored Ultrared because of the same botte design as Ultraviolet giving me the idea these scents where in the same line but dont understand me wrong! Ultrared is a whole other league (sniffs my arm for the 24th time now and the vaniila is kicking more in but in a slow tempo as if the vannila is together with an army of strawberries) I think this is gonna be the new Yohji Homme because its rareness in the next 10 years to come. Watch my words this one will be spoken all over basenotes and Fragrantica and will be expensive on ebay! Ultrared is an Exotic,Erotic and Estatic gourmand not to miss!! The new bottles have a lighter smoother scent than the original back in 2008. My old bottle was a praline bomb. The new one is soft and doesn't last long, at least in cold weather. This is definitely a summer scent now for those buying the new and lower priced bottles. I'm not sure if Paco Rabanne re-released this or what, but I know for sure this isn't the beast it used to be. I will say that the newer scent is very pleasant and well blended. I like it more than the older version for that reason. If you are buying this to fulfill your need for the unicorn like hype of years past, don't bother. It isn't what it used to be. The old one was really loud and sometimes annoying to me. The old one fits into the strong gourmand love it or hate realm for sure. The new version(or whatever it is) is more of a pleasant everyone scent. But again, the new bottles are not strong at all. Maybe in summertime this will unfold into something better, but if you are In a place that is cold right now, don't expect to wear this without bringing it with you wherever you go to reapply every couple hours. Lastly, I what to stress that the new scent has a much better transition between all the notes. There isn't a single note listed that I don't smell at some point in wearing this. And for those that had it before (like myself and just want a pleasant reminder of a great scent), but like to wear something more subtle now, this is for you. Note: a good praline bomb that still holds up pretty well would be Jacomo de Jacomo Rouge. Think minty Le Male with praline.

I have to say that Paco Rabanne Ultrared is one of my most successful blind buys this year, and it is also a blind buy that I instantly loved at the first sniff. It has a beautiful, mouth-watering combination of praline (that has some kind of sweet chocolate vibe to me), blood orange, vanilla, and patchouli. It is sweet, fresh, invigorating, effervescent, very gourmand, and really smooth. I was kinda impressed by the quality of this juice the first time I smelt it. I can barely smell the tonka bean though. It does have some kind of resemblance to some Thierry Mugler/Mugler fragrances from the A*Men line, like Kryptomint and Pure Tonka (haven't tried Ultra Zest yet), but to me, Ultrared is much smoother on the edges as those Muglers can be quite strong and pungent in the opening. This is one of a few fragrances in my collection that is gourmand, yet not sickly sweet to be worn in a high heat. Even though most people said it is much more suitable for spring and fall, I think Paco Rabanne Ultrared is also perfectly suitable for summer and winter. It has enough sweetness and richness to work well in a colder weather, but it has enough freshness, fizziness, and effervescence to work magnificently in a hotter weather. The performance is very good on my skin, and could last for days on clothes. This is my SOTD today, and more than 8 hours in, I still can smell it when I'm moving (the sillage is beautiful). It projects very well for the first 3 to 4 hours too. This is a blind buy worthy fragrance, especially if you love gourmands.

The blind-buy bandwagon isn't always a safe place. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I too, succumbed to the hype with this fragrance. For 55 dollars (Canadian), I figured that it would be worth taking a chance on. I have a decant of Mugler Ultra Zest but I don't love it, it's a solid "like" though. I had a feeling that Ultrared Man was going to be better for me and I was right because I love this one (I find it more fresh than the Mugler.) I have very few summer time scents that I love on myself. I'm naturally geared toward winter time scents that are heavy and gourmand and have little to no citrus in them. The only fragrance that I wore regularly last summer was Light Blue Eau Intense Dolce&Gabbana (the women's version.) That one smells great on me and I have received the most compliments on that scent than I have on any other fragrance that I own (by a mile.) I think that Ultrared is going to give it a run for it's money this summer! It starts out heavy on the blood orange and has a really nice zing to it. Right away, you can detect the vanilla and it mixes with the orange seamlessly, definitely giving you the best possible Orange Creamsicle vibe. That impression remains but on a lower scale once patchouli joins the party, giving it a solid base and helping with the lasting power. The sweetness is there, bolstered by the praline but it's never cloying or sickening. Overall, this is a solid fragrance and one of my best blind-buys ever. No regrets in picking this one up. Destined to be a new summer staple!

Just in case anyone wants to know what is going on with this being discontinued and then popping back up everywhere, it has been re-released. I'm guessing that PR saw an opportunity with the trend towards sweeter men's fragrances and with Muglers Ultra Zest being discontinued and going for upwards of $300 a bottle, and said hey we can start manufacturing Ultrared again for little to no investment. And I think that is exactly what they did. I recently purchased a bottle from Kingdom Fragrances and they were very reasonable with their prices, but upon receiving it I researched the batch code and it was manufactured in late 2020. So I'm personally relieved to find that out as I really do enjoy this fragrance. It does need a little bit more performance than it has. A little more patchouli in the base would really help it a lot. If you could somehow add that and just a touch more citrus then you would have a banger on your hands for sure! The only way I can picture doing that is to purchase some decants of the new M+mandarin and M+patchouli from Eccentric Molecules and to start with the M+patchouli, then go on with Ultrared, and lastly would be M+mandarin. I'd really like to know how it would turn out. Or you could simply mix them with half Ultrared and 1/4 of each of the others and then allow it to mecerate and see how that works. Maybe I'll be able to give that a try eventually. However, until then I'll have to make do with this as is. And honestly that's not such a bad thing at all!

I love this stuff! I like heavy, sweet and resinous fragrances so spring and summer are somewhat difficult for me because there's not a lot for me to choose from as far as warm weather oriented fragrances go, but this one is perfect. 1 Million Parfum and Spicebomb Night Vision EDP are two others that I use pretty regularly in the spring and summer. The new Cool Water Parfum and the Intense version are both nice. Sauvage Parfum is nice but the price is a little high for what it is. Azzaro Chrome Pure and Extreme are both very nice and I'm into the resinous aspect of Acqua Di Gio Profondo from the mastic, it's actually quite noticable. Acqua Di Gio Absolute Instinct is great if you like dark woods, and I recently ran out of it. But out of all those that I have listed, which are my go-to warm weather oriented fragrances, I believe that I enjoy this one most. Sure it's not formal whatsoever. But I'm just talking about the pure enjoyment and pleasure of the scent itself, this is my favorite. And all the fragrances that I mentioned here have very good performance, so this one is as good or better than most of them. So if you are like me and really enjoy heavier, denser fragrances and don't really have a huge selection for the warmer months, you should definitely pick this one up. The supply is now starting to dry up again and I'm sure that in another two months it'll be well upward of $100 a bottle!!! So grab it while you can get it cheap.

@Djchildress, I hate to burst your bubble but that is not true at all; Ultrared has not been re-released. The reason that your batch code says it was produced in 2020 is because batch codes are recycled every 10 years. Your batch is certainly from 2010. Think logically, why on earth would Paco Rabanne take a fragrance from over ten years ago that they considered enough of a failure to discontinue it, and then randomly re-release it with literally no marketing? Hardly anyone knew about this fragrance (or cared for it) before Ashton from Gent Scents made video about it recently - want evidence? Just look at the trend graph above. Paco Rabanne aren't ever resurrecting this one, so if you like it, you better scoop up some more bottles now before this leftover stock is out of circulation. Anyway, I much prefer this to Ultra Zest - it's smoother and creamier. This obviously leans way more into the sweeter notes like Praline and Tonka whereas UZ has much more of a focus on the citrus elements. The opening is fantastic and is my favourite part of the fragrance. As this dries down, the vanilla becomes much more prominent and the orange takes a backseat, though it is there for the duration of the entire fragrance. This projects reasonably well off my skin for the first hour, although starts to sit quite close after that - this one is a bit of a gem and can still be had for a reasonably good price in the UK.

@Schnappo90 Mate, " I hate to burst your bubble but" you're all wrong. Ultared in fact is (or at least have been recently) back in production again. Or at least they produced a fair amount of Ultared sometime in the near past. I collected some boxes to back up when they discontinue Ultared and comparing their boxes, they are surely different. What you're saying that what people think the new boxes are actually 10 years old products are soooo false! No, they aren't. Yes, some bach codes are recycled in 10, 8 or years but these are not like them. These are new products. Ultared Man was not available for many, many years, and now all the webshops have them for fairly cheap prices? You want to suggest that they store a huuuuge amount of Ultrared for like 8-10 years and they thought they flood the market with those 10 years old products? Nope. This is not a "leftover stock", it's just waaay too much for that. It's available in all Europe. And why on Earth would anyone store a huge stock for sooooo many years just to finally let them be available for cheap? No logic here dude. And again, their package is not completely identical. Go and check yourself. Oh, by the way, Givenchy produces Eau Torride again, yet it never was a hit. Now it's available again for cheap prices, yet it was not avaible for a very, very long time. No it's not leftover stock. :D

So I too jumped onto the hype train like everybody since everyone Ash announced this fragrance. Never heard of this until him and not TOO fond of Paco Rabanne fragrances to be honest. However, hearing that it’s discontinued and the cheap price ultimately drew me in. Upon receiving this today, I sprayed my hand and was pleasantly surprised. I see why ash spoke so highly about this. While I do enjoy that initial blast of the blood orange. I think the dry down smells so much better. The initial spray smells a little unisex/feminine to me But the dry down is perfect! Much more masculine. I feel it’s definitely a skin scent after an hour or so. Haven’t been near anybody to receive any remarks so I can’t say for sure. However, I can smell it on my hand after a shower and SEVERAL hours later. Albeit, it’s faint. I love this so much more than ultra male, I don’t know why they discontinued this and kept the ultra male line. So I was curious to see how old this fragrance is... I checked the batch code and it states that mine was made in December 2020. So I’m confused..... it’s discontinued but they JUST made it? Perhaps they’re just selling it again. For those of you on the fence whether you should buy it or not... GET IT! 50 bucks for this “discontinued” gem is a steal!

Ultrared Men has an awesome opening. Sweet, slightly creamy blood orange, then it transforms into a sweeter scent because of the praline and tonka bean. I can actually smell the patchouli from the beginning, and the patchouli itself starts to fade out, being overpowered by the vanilla, blood orange, and praline. The drydown is really good, too! It still maintains the blood orange and praline, but the vanilla starts to become noticeable. It lasts for a very long time on my clothes and I have to wear this one fully before I can give my conclusion. It smells warm, sweet, citrusy (not in a super fresh way, but it comes out as sweet because it is blood orange), and gourmand. Not sickly sweet though, so I'm confident enough to wear this in a summer day. It kinda reminds me of Mugler's Kryptomint in the opening (well, it is also similar to Ultra Zest after all). It has the A*Men DNA (because of the patchouli that's very prominent, even since the opening). To be honest, it really is great and now I get why some people hyped this up. I might have to stock up one or more bottles of this one before it becomes super rare. Don't let that funky bottle fool you, the stuff inside is outstanding to me.

........ blind bought this little over a year ago, and I’ve worn it just a handful of times, woke up this morning and decided to rock with this one today. I’ve got an absurdly large fragrance collection and my options are endless, this reminds me of a more aromatic polo red parfum, I’ve never smelled the mugler ultra zest so I can’t relate, but this in it’s own right smells great. Someone mentioned this smells like JPG LEmalle elixir , and I could not disagree more (at first) but the more I smell it, I can actually see where they are kinda similar , but just kinda sorta in the opening and ya gotta use your imagination to sense the similarities. At the price this can be found @ Jomashop for,.. its hard not to like it , especially if you’re a fan of red scents like polo red parfum, etc. sweet aromatic citrus . I don’t often associate frags with age/gender /seasonality unless it’s totally and obviously a masculine or feminine vibe. This one splits hairs in every category and can be enjoyed anytime , anywhere, by anyone... in my opinion. If your not a pretentious prick face ass muncher ,... you might actually enjoy this frag as much as I do!!! The End... Amen ✅

Batch codes showing a production date of 2021 were manufactured in 2011 as they're recycled every 10 years. So as I said originally, if anyone wants this fragrance, then now is the time to get it because it won't be around for long. At least not at a reasonable price. This site would be a whole lot better if people like Endymion stopped trying to pass their uninformed opinions off as fact.

You know, I actually didn't know this existed until last year. I saw it on YouTube and found it here when I was randomly scrolling through fragrances. The note breakdown immediately intrigued me, so I bought it at once, and I'm very happy I did. This is a very sweet, gourmand fragrance perfect for fall and winter. I'd say you can also wear it in spring and summer if you tone down your sprays, especially in summer. My review sounds pretty much the opposite of the one right below me. It's not that weak. It actually lasted on my skin a solid 8 hours or so. And I did in fact, get a creamy orange smell, like an orangesicle. And it does smell great, at least to me anyway. I guess all of our noses smell things differently. For $40, this was an instant hit for me. And for all of you wondering if it's discontinued, it is. However, there was a bunch of unsold stock of it found, so they put it on sites like Fragrancenet and Fragrancex. It's still available if you want it. I would suggest you get it now before it sells out soon and it's gone, possibly forever.

Classy seduction in a bottle. Full stop. Now I am not keen on Paco Rabanne scents, male or female. Most lack a certain ''oomph'' I look for. However this. This is HAS it. Dear god. 'Ultrared' is this juicy, edible, undeniably masculine fragrance that's perfect for the modern man. Starts out with a delicious spicy blood orange, that's quite aromatic and settles into a mouthwatering patchouli-praline, but without losing that masculine citrus-aromatic facet. I don't smell any powdery tonka or rather it's faint. And yes this is a sibling to Mugler's A*Men line, it has the undeniable DNA, but this is smoother & more gourmand. I know this is voted unisex by some, but 'Ultrared' is in the ''Men's STUPIDLY SEXY'' category for me along with Guerlain's 'L'Homme Ideal EDP', A*Men 'Ultrazest' / 'Pure Tonka' and Salvatore Ferragamo 'Uomo EDP'. Instant attraction in a bottle. It's just...ugh...Do yourself a favour guys and pick one up while it's affordable! Even if you dislike it, guaranteed people will be showering you with compliments, especially women.

Smells amazing! Very surprised this is from 2008 because it smells very modern and not out of date at all. Literally one of the most unique smelling freshies as a matter of fact. Usually whenever I see the vanilla, sweet and citrus accords together it’s always smelling bad, like for example dunhill red which has the sweet, vanilla and citrus accords but doesn’t come off nice. But this Ultrared on the other hand actually managed to pull it off very nicely. It’s this citrusy vibe that has almost been turned gourmand by the praline, vanilla and tonka bean. Thank god I don’t get any patchouli cause I hate patchouli, but you mainly smell this blood orange, it doesn’t smell like a regular citrus orange but more of this candied sweet blood orange skin. It’s beautiful I just wish it was an EDP instead of an EDT. But on the positive side it was only 46$ so you can overspray without hesitation. I’d say definitely buy it and try it, it’s not a scent profile that is hard to like. Scent profile : 9/10 Longevity and silage: 6/10 and if you overspray 7/10.

Since I own a bottle of Ultraviolet, and it's an awsome Spring/Summer fragrance, Ultrared is the all year round sidekick. It opens with a sweet orange scent and progresses with a mild chocolatey vibe of praline and remains that way for a very long time; gourmand, chocolatey-orange scent...simple has that. Though the notes are all synthetic, this one doesn't have that bubblegummy vibe like Ultraviolet (or most of Paco Rabanne fragrances) have and to be honest, it really doesn't need it. I believe you can pull this one in any occasion...LITERALLY whether it's office, date, casual, you name it. Has for longevity, it goes the same amount of time has Ultraviolet, 8 plus hours or so, given or taken. The projection dwindles, it's starts kicking and strong the first couple of hours and then it fades to a moderate/minimum range, so people need to be a bit closer to notice your cologne. I love the Ultrared has much has I love Ultraviolet; it's affordable, the atomizer is handy too just like the previous...it's a pity that's hard to find in stores.

Wow. This stuff is just amazing. The blood orange is beautifully done blended perfectly into this smooooth vanilla with the gourmandy mids keeping fairly quiet, doesn't punch you in the face with competing notes. So addictive that I'm making it my signature scent this summer. I'm constantly finding excuses to smell the cap of my bottle whenever I'm home. I wish the longevity/projection were better. I don't see how people vote this more for winter than summer, it gives a very tropical vibe and the performance doesn't even allow for cloying sweetness in the heat at all. Mixing with 1/3 parts Nitro Red, 2/3 parts Ultrared can help with varying degrees of success in performance. Ultrared is 9/10 as a fragrance, but the scent itself is a 10/10 IMO. Seriously well done. edit: also the atomizer complaints make zero sense, it doesn't rotate at all like most spray nozzles so you get a perfect spray each time. Not to mention you can push either side of the trigger or the middle and it will work fine.

Paco Rabanne Ultrared so different and high quality fragrance. Praline + Vanilla u think this is heavy and boring stuff.. But no this is very good and very attractive scent. Because Blood Orange note so good. First spray u feel Blood Orange whiff. So energic, attractive and smokiness. 1 hours later u whiff more Tonka Bean and Praline like as chocolate and 2 hours later Vanilla note coming.. Really smell good. When I wear this scent my friends ask my perfume. This scent most compliments and girls like Ultrared. I like Ultraviolet and Ultrared both different scents. Wearable all seasons. Longevity 9+ hours on my clothes and 5 hours stay on my skin this is enough and good. Sillage is wonderful. One day my friend this stuff smells like V de Vakko. Yes smells like Vakko but only Base Notes similar to Ultrared. Patchouli and Vanilla notes so similar but Vakko fresh, Ultrared smokiness and sweet. Make your choice Ultrared or Ultraviolet ;) Projection: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10 Sillage:9/10
