Quelque Part

This one is Ambrette + Musk, that is as saying musk + musk (ambrette is also known as "vegatal musk"), but what kind of musk is this? First of all, base musk is clean, very well put togheter, definetly "white", probably the usual Galaxolide plus Ethylene Brassylate or Exaltolide or Exaltone or any combinaton of theese. Notes include also Cashmeran which is another molecule of the same family. I don't smell any Habanolide or Muscenone (no animalic whatsoever nor metallic feeling). Those are the fixatives for the ambrette, which in this case is exalted in his powdery and floreal facets (the jasmin on the notes is not prominent nor easily detectable, no indolic feeling, it is used probably only to underline the floral aspect of the ambrette), fir absolute is not "balsamic", not overdosed, it is used more to cut off the fruity nuances of the ambrette (I can't smell any fruit here, absolute zero) to let shine the floral part present in the opening and in the heart of the fragrance (a very undistinguished smell of light "bouquet" tipical of the ambrette). I can say to clonclude that this is a very well done soft, sligthly floral musk, very conforting, calm, clean. It is a pleasure to wear this fragrance for me, it is so relaxing. It's like a warm hug floating around you. It lasts long enough but the sillage is almost non existent, it is abasically a skin scent, perceptible only in close quarters (not even reaching 30 cm from skin I think). White musk for me is totally genderless and this kind of musk is so subtle and gentle you can wear it wherever and whenever you want just because you are probaly the only person smelling it

I love this unisex perfume. Sexy, musk and amber with an original touch. For sure, it is warm, cocooning, comforting. I can detect ambrette and cashmeran. A nice and warm wool scarf in winter... I love it. It is like a sexy but slightly perverted gourmand. Like caramel cinnamon roll flavored lingerie. 9.5/10

This one is crazy and the notes completely surprise me with how this comes off. A wild card for sure. All of the other reviews are spot on. A yeasty bready resinous experience. This smells risqué. screams pheromone~ with the “natural elements” there is a prevalent wet stone/metallic note here. (An element I usually cannot stand but it’s done very well in this) And the fir/pine really grounds the mineral scent in it. One of those perfumes where in passing it’s really unique and alluring. But if you sit there and smell it nonstop straight to your nose it is quite intense especially with the opening. Although in small whiffs it’s quite nice. I do think the yeasty smell with the fir amber and musk notes make it intriguing. Notttt an every day scent. Would be really cozy in the colder months. My mom actually loves this one and she’s pretty picky. This is totally gender neutral and utterly unique in my books. Don’t absolutely love it per se but I don’t hate it. I think it could grow on me for sure Edit: **worn a few times, it is in fact growing on me! It’s just beautifully complex unique and addictive. Not safe as a blind buy though

Sweet cute musk. It smells like body lotion. This is the kind of musk I prefer, the ambrette is very noticeable together with some synthetic musks. But not the animalic or the metalic kind. The flowers are generic, I can' t really tell what flower it is. My mom used to have a face cream that smelled just like that, so for me this is a mom smell.

On my skin, this smells like a dutch bakery. It smells like pepernoten deeg and stroopwafels.. very dough-like with spices.. Really nostalgic and lovely. Sweet and gourmand to me..?

Skin scent that can be polarising. For me it’s smell like the inside of a bread, like crumb a bit wet though. I like it but my boyfriend hates it.

the fir balsam i think makes a very cinnamony kinda smell!!! its like cinnamon + hot steam! its like a clean warm smell... ambery but clean

Quelque Part is an interesting specimen that evokes, to me, the image of a ghost softly veiled in the steam that wonders through the bathroom after a hot shower. It's nowhere near my style of perfumery, not only leaning more feminine but also more French than I'd like, but I do find that "steamy" vibe executed decently enough. Frankly, this ghost seems to be getting ready to attend an event, as just like other users below have pointed out, you also get the impression of clothes getting ironed. The cashmeran is first to greet, having a gentle synthetic edge covered in its warm, mildly spicy muskiness, portraying a pretty deep velvety softness akin to a thick piece of clothing being ironed. The ambrette seed brings a particular nutty accord that offers sweetness seemingly held down by a mix of gentle florals; reminiscent of iris. Sure enough, there is jasmine listed as a note here, but it resides further back with a balsamic coating, not presenting piney attributes, but at best a delicate, almost texturally soft woody edge with a lotion-like edge to it. All of this happens while the composition is enveloped in that steam-like accord. Sure, steam on itself is completely odorless, taking on the scent of whatever it interacts with or carries along. Here, it's that nutty facet pairing along with the soft musks that embed themselves into the cashmeran. Don't expect any twists or turns; the fragrance develops quite linearly, just softening down more and more, yet it all feels intentional. This was made to be perceived this soft and delicate. On that note, the softness does apply to the performance too, at least to me. Sure, it lasted a fairly good amount, getting somewhat mixed results but ultimately sitting around the 7-9 hour marks. However, most of these are achieved as a skin scent. While the first two hours were actually decent enough to get you noticed here and there, it wouldn't really push too harshly off of my skin. But it isn't supposed to. Wearing Quelque Part might give off the impression that you just took a shower, because yes, it has some cleanliness to it, not in a soapy sense. It does smell somewhat 'fresh', but again, in a very restrained way. Its delicate nature is also part of why this leans heavily on the feminine side, not just the scent structure itself. So for men, it might be a harder pick, but for women, it's perfectly versatile for all possible scenarios. It's not a hard scent to wear, nor a complex composition or a groundbreaking creation. It's very easy-going, clean, and pleasant to the masses. But it does manage to append a unique attribute, which is that steamy, musky, warm cashmeran partnered with the distinct nuttiness from the ambrette. The direction it takes is clear - softness. It's not trying to garner attention or compliments like a refrigerator gathers souvenir magnets. It's more tailored to be worn by the user for himself, which is how we should wear all fragrances anyways, yet in today's day and age, grabbing people's attention is heavily promoted to the point that you're wearing the fragrance for others instead for yourself. That shouldn't be the priority, but a secondary benefit. First and foremost, you should wear the fragrance because you enjoy it and it makes you feel good, and Quelque Part in particular, due to its more intimate nature, feels to be aiming to do just that, and I respect it for it. Quelque Part smells fascinating in that it smells like something that isn't supposed to be perfume. My mind is picking up smells from elsewhere: Aqua Net hair spray, the distant smell of artificial butter used to flavor movie theater popcorn, molding clay, brand new stationery, Kiwi shoe polish, Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Raisin bread, the smell after an old carpet is vacuumed, I could go on. Yet none of it smells like perfume the way I'd want it to be, which is actually crazy, because I am into some pretty leftfield, conceptual perfumes and have since CDG gave us their Odeur releases years ago. Somehow, the whole isn't greater than the sum of its parts here, it all feels fallow and directless, but I don't doubt that it has appeal on the right nostrils. It just is a huge head scratcher for me, and I really don't want it on my skin. Perhaps my critique will lead you to it and you'll find it to be dazzling. Goodness knows that's happened to me with other's not-so-flattering reviews of frags. Happy sniffing!

It's very cinnamon roll in a bready, wheaty, yeasty way.

this smells crazy. when my boyfriend first smelled this he went WOA. the only time a fragrance made him react like that. its super strong. yeasty??? like bread or beer. we call it the beer perfume

I thought I liked the first blast of this, but the subsequent wave of meaty musk made it an absolute no for me.

Smells like a hair salon when they put that chemical to do perms, not for me!

Smells cheap. The musk isn't high quality and the flower notes are lost. Too much gourmet influence and it ends up as tacky body spray. No oomf

Smoky dusty musk, in the best way possible. Smells like anwhite musk that has been doses with a clean smoke from some super neutral incense I can see the comparison with steam, because to my nose is totally white smoke, but smoke more than steam, because it has a peppery quality on it. It is not sweet, but neither is fresh. I can smell something a little savoury, like sesame. It is also quite faint but noticeable at the same time. It does smell similar to Kiss of Bliss or Bal d'Afrique in the base, but drowned in that spicy smoke note. In the air is a lot more pleasant than close to your note. Would not purchase but it is indeed an interesting perfume for musk lovers.

You are in a perfume shop smelling a very nice floral/musky feminine fragrance from a mouillette, but the person at the counter is also eating a big prosciutto sandwitch and offers you some. That's the olfactive imagery evoked by my Quelque Part sample. It gets more subtle, a bit sweeter, and less hammy after a while, as the prosciutto undertone becomes like sniffing silicone glue in a flower field. Kudos for keeping the tension of the weird contrasts throughout the whole wear time, it's sure an impactful experience, even if I'm not sure I like it.

How is no one mentioning hair salon?! This smells very specifically like the hair salon me and my mother went to when I was a kid. The kind that does chunky highlights. In the BEST WAY. Then you get a cinnamon roll soaked in milk. So not a cinnamon bomb. And then as it sits in your nose, you get this watered down and yet sparkly, highly tolerable version of br540. This gave me so many feels. Love it.
