Accord No. 02: Cade 2019 Edition

Okay, so this is odd and I love odd things. I bought a sample of this and got really excited because I absolutely love the extreme Cade in Zoologist T-Rex, so I gave this one a try as well. The opening is a little pungent and stingy, it reminds me a little of civet. I get some animalic notes, and the Galbanum really comes through. To me personally, it was a little unpleasant but it faded away quickly and then it got a LOT better. The drydown is quite woody and extremely natural. The entire thing smells very natural to me, which is good because that's what it's supposed to be, right? In the drydown I got a bit of frankincense and the whole drydown reminded me of a nice, untouched forest in fall when the sun is shining through the leaves of the trees and the floor is covered in leaves and dry dust. I also get pencil or just general wood shavings, which I love the smell of. Overall, I think it very much reminds me of Canfield Cedar by Kerosene, although I find this one to be a little more animalic, maybe even a touch more natural and complex. It's not linear at all, although after the early drydown it doesn't change too much. I'll try more from this house for sure and can't wait to visit a store where they have these scents (found one in my hometown, yay) Would I wear this one? I don't think so, it just doesn't suit me that well. I think this is for a literate, smart and maybe artsy person that really tries to be as environmentally friendly as possible, in terms of what they eat, wear and do. I know, it's a very specific group but that's just the person I imagine in my head. It's not comparable to the Cade in T-Rex at all! Much smoother and easier to wear.
