Midnight Romance

Walking into Macy's I saw the huge sign for it and thought "Oh God, if I actually like this, the way they're pushing it everyone in town will have it!" So I finally find the bottle and give myself a spritz on the hand instantly I get chilled fruit (litchi and raspberry the most) with the bubbly effect of freesia and a hint of vanilla but she's really far in the background. This mixes to become a raspberry gummy bear on me, but not sticky or overly sweet at all! Like a sexy raspberry gummy bear that's mature (I know it's hard to think of a gummy bear as sexy). Lasting power on me is 13 hours with one spritz and it's really good sillage! I was getting compliments all day! Also, because of the chilled effect I get, I can see this working for all seasons, so I had to go get a bottle!

***Update*** Did this formula change??? I was ready to purchase a new fragrance and tried this on the other evening. BLUUUUIAACCKKK! What happened??? All the sweetness that was before turned into a sharp, horrible bug-spray smell on me. Please, tell me I just got ahold of a bad rollerball in the sample station... Just tried this on; I really like it. I keep coming back to fragrances that have the peony/dark vanilla combination. They just work well with my chemistry. I like the freshness of the raspberry and litchi--it's fruity but not candy store fruity. There is a sexiness to it because of the warmth of the vanilla too. It's a great all-occasion fragrance that is subtle enough for every day but special enough for evening too. Very wearable...I would like to buy this one.

ive always been a fan of ralph laurens Romance since it came out. I was about 10 years old at the time an my sister always wore it. It smelled great and it really lasts along time. When i heard they came out with new fragrances (summer romance and midnight romance) i just had to go try them out. Didnt like the summer one very much but i LOVED the midnight romance!! it smells like regular romance expect a lil more vanilla in it and other scent i cant really describe. This deff does NOT seem like this is something a teenager would wear. It smells tasty and delicious but very classy and a bit sensual ;) deff a perfume id say for the night time. A lil strong for during the day... Id say the age for this perfume should be (21-45)... One of my favs!! lasts a long time.

Amazingly beautiful and well-blended scent - a mixture of my most beloved ingredients - raspberry, peony, vanilla and powdery notes. No single ingredient stands out, maybe vanilla stays on skin a minute longer than the rest... It seem like it's a must in my collection! Unfortunately, it lasts shorter than 5 minutes on my skin and the silage seems to be truly poor either. I love the combo so much that I'll give it at least one more chance but I'm afraid that it will not last any longer than these days...:((( It is a perfectly elegant and safe scent, but it's much more ephemeral than my beloved original ROMANCE which is also delicate! I never thought that a vanilla-based scent can be so weak:((((

I'm normally not really a Romance lover, that perfume is too simple and clean for me. Also not really into rose scents. My expectations were not high when I received a sample.of Midnight Romance in the shop today... But what a scent!! So classy, warm, sophisticated. It's really a more grown up.version of the plain girly rose scent of Romance. Midnight romance is so much more. I think it's suitable for wearing in daytime, but also stand out enough to wear when going out. This scent is for all the classy women out there, wanting to stand out but not too much. It's defenitely on my wish list from now! ADDED: I'm a quick decider, I already bought a very cute little bottle of 30ml and I love it :-)

Gah I LOVE this!! I’ve been wanting this fragrance for quite some time now & I’m glad to finally have it in my collection! My first order from ebay was a fake as it smelled of pure alcohol and some cheap nasty musk...I was super mad, requested a refund and sent it back. Luckily I got the real deal this time!! Soft, almost powdery raspberries, peony and vanilla. Upon first spritz I can definitely sense the zesty litchi & bergamot, then the Jasmine, and a tad of freesia. Definitely can smell the Ambroxan which adds some depth to the entire fragrance. I gotta say I love RL’s Romance & the flankers! Perfect springtime fragrance 🌸🌸

The original ROMANCE is already a favorite of mine (used to be my sig) but this one may just replace it altogether. I really love it! This is an OMG! of the OMGs on MY SKIN. Projection and sillage is a beast! I think this is the best scent I have ever come across! There is definitely something mysterious, sexy and extremely feminine about the scent which I love and is pretty much what I have been looking for. Well blended and put together. I have been sampling and it is a must have! I need this in my collection asap (my next purchase). I hope I don't start smelling this every where because it might just spoil it for me.

I don't usually like Ralph Lauren's perfumes, but this one was the best perfume I am proud to own. My husband pointed it out and I was amazed on how much I enjoyed it. He loves it too. It's a little strong, but I don't mind. It lasts for at least 3 hours, on myself. I did not like the original at all. I thought it was too light and flowery for me. I thought the original catered more towards the younger crowd whereas this one is more mature. It has a very noticeable powder scent. Which I like. But a little strong on the floral. I still like it very much though. And so does my b husband

I have Ralph Lauren Romance, Tender Romance, and Midnight Romance. Midnight is my favorite. All I get is powdery berries but I love it. This is my go-to church and office scent. Feminine and fresh but with a subtle sexiness. Moderate longevity on me as a skin scent. Which is perfect for church or office. I wore this to church yesterday and could still smell it on my skin when I got ready for bed. It is still in the nineties and humid where I live which might have added to the longevity. This is a safe blind buy for day time occasions.

My favourite ralph lauren perfume. I did like the original romance perfume. However I felt it didn't have good chemistry with my skin and seemed a little too strong for me. This one doesnt have the much floral as the original. It smells smooth. Like a dark vanilla scent thats just a little sweet not too sweet, which is perfect. Smells sexy and it's perfect for cooler seasons. Its perfect for any woman who wants to smell sexy, seductive and ready for a night out ;) Perfect for ages of 18-late 30s in my opinion.

I really like this! I've loved every Ralph Lauren scent I've tried actually (except maybe the original Romance). Of all of the raspberry scents I've smelled, this one smells the most like raspberries. Like raspberries sprinkled with sugar. It's fruity and tart with a little bit of sweetness. It could be a Herbal Essences shampoo scent. There's nothing too "midnight" about it though...it's more of a zingy early morning treat. Afterthought: The drydown is a bit sweeter and slightly chocolaty to my nose.

Lovely raspberry and iris! It's a gorgeous iris, I love it. The raspberries are very sweet - just like raspberries when they're really ripe and juicy, and the flowers compliment it very well, and also the delicious lychee, which definitely adds to the divine sweetness with the delicious black vanilla. It's a lovely perfume. Very alluring. Very romantic and sensual. I am complimented every time I wear it anywhere, and it lasts for 10 hours without needing a top-up. It's really very divine.

I just got my hands on the atomizer special edition and I love it. I would say it falls under the same category as Chance Eau Tendre, although Tendre is much more fresh. They are two completely different scents, but they both remind me of each other because they are soft, sweet, and powdery. I used to own this, but I am 100% sure it was a fake, as it smelled completely of alcohol and a tiny bit of fragrance. Now that I have the real deal, I can appreciate its beauty. Must have for me.

This is probably my favorite RL perfume. A symphony of beautiful delicate notes, it is beautiful on me and I get a lot of compliments whenever I wear it. projection is good and longevity is 6+ Reading these reviews I find it so sad that the fragrance isn't as good on many as it is on me. Love Love

This seriously smells Devine! Very well made! It's sweet but not cloying it's a little bit floral smooth like the jimmy choo exotic flankers without a drop of patchouli for those of you that don't agree with that note! Lovely!

I love it! It smells really sweet and fruity and a little powdery, kind of like candy, but not overly sweet. Very soft and feminine and young. :)

Loved this several years ago when I got it in college, before I really cared about fragrances and thought I'd retry it to actually analyze it now. Immediately, you definitely get the raspberry, lychee, and bergamot, some floral as well. It's pretty 'basic' but pretty. Even when I first got it, I loved the smell, but was nothing groundbreaking, I just loved raspberry scents, and they felt very "me". I'm not sure if I view this as 'cheap' because of the actual scent, or because of the association with just getting it in college, but it maybe reminds me of something you could get at B&BW. I think it reminds me of my favorite B&BW scent back in the day, Black Raspberry Vanilla, and that's what I tried to replicate with this fragrance with a more official "grown up" version it. It's clean and good, light and fresh, but not sophisticated. It's young and casual, and a good beginner scent, a safe blind buy. It's nonoffending, clean, pretty, feminine, and fruity floral. I still think of this scent from time to time and try it out, as again I had my 'era' with these types of scents. But I feel I've grown out of them some by now. Might still grab it if the mood strikes me, but I don't believe this lasts very long and is still pretty 'generic' feeling. Back to the performance.... about 10 minutes in it smells a bit more earthy and aquatic, though still full of raspberry and flowers, mostly peony. And 15 minutes later a bit powdery, but not overwhelmingly so. It does remind me of La Nuit Tresor, but much simpler and less sickingly sweet and more floral and fresh, and obviously without the incense and coffee notes. After 30 minutes, the scent hasn't changed really. It's still.....raspberry and floral. So in that sense, this is a pretty linear fragrance, but if that's how you want to smell, that's not bad that it doesn't change. I don't honestly smell the vanilla too much, perhaps a hint of it in the background, but that's it. This has had basically no sillage after a couple minutes of wearing and I just smell it about 2" from my skin. An hour in and I really smell the iris coming out a lot. 3 hours later and it's a lot fainter and pretty much just on my skin. 5 hours later and I can no longer smell it on me.

Peony & fresia soapy inoffensive scent. It ́s fresh, floral and pretty. Super femenine and romantic. Happy and beautiful. Appropiate for girls, teens, ladys, women... versatile for any age and pretty much any casual situation. Good for the office, for a sunday picnic on the riverside, for a night walk along the beach, for a casual date with your boyfriend at the cinema. Would definetly not pick this for a wedding day, an important event at work, or a date if I am looking for a sexy scent. The scent is romantic enough if you ARE the bride at a wedding outdoors in a summer day, but projection is too weak it ́s just not worth picking it. Projection: starts moderate for the 1st hour, then its very soft... you have to be too close to smell it. Never go any compliments with this one, I just use it when I want something easy and pretty. Longevity: 10 hours after first spray I can still smell this on my wrists if I get my nose there and try hard hahaha but you can notice it ́s there, just too softly. Bottle: It has a simple yet elegant design. Classic. In summary, I think this is a good gift for a girl who is starting college and wants something for everyday use. To me, this is very pretty, but I when I run out of this I will move on and try something different.

I got a deluxe sample of this from Sephora and wanted to love it. I have a love/hate relationship with strong raspberry notes; real raspberries are so gloriously perfumed that I would die to smell like them, they have a sophisticated fruity but somehow dry scent. Unfortunately raspberry notes in perfume are always fruity in such a linear way, soft and generically pleasant. Midnight Romance is no exception. The raspberry top note hits me right away and is combined with the alcohol content of the juice in a way not unlike raspberry flavored vodka. I was hoping the iris base note would distinguish itself and give the sweet raspberry note a more realistic dry-down but it just doesn't wow me. This fragrance really reminds me of Hot Couture, not an exact match but they are definitely sisters. Like Givenchy fragrances, It also has a strong "perfume" smell, especially in the dry-down, in other words a sort of artificial generic smell that I tend to avoid. This quality is not inherently bad just simply not transformative, transportive or unique. I plan to keep my bottle for layering, as the sillage is fairly soft and I think it could give a boost to something like a rose fragrance.

This is my first perfume review ever. As somebody who is recently delving into expanding my fragrance collection (I currently own 8 bottles, most over $100) and discovering new favorites, this is one that I find appropriate to give my unbiased opinion on now that I’ve owned it for 2 years. I still have about 25% of the bottle left and I still enjoy going back to it. My first love was Prada Candy and I mostly prefer warm, powdery gourmands but something about Midnight Romance is just right to my nose. It’s clean, fruity, and has a very mild sweet finish that makes it great for any occasion or daily wear. That being said I still find the scent to still give a sophisticated, feminine impression without it being overwhelming. Think of trying a fruity Victoria’s Secret perfume. You feel sexy, sophisticated, but not overwhelmed. A youthful scent that can be worn by all ages for any occasion. I call it my perfect medium. I recommend this perfume to anybody who wants a reliable addition to their collection that feels as though the price isn’t risking their budget. Coming from a lover of gourmands who usually prefer really sweet, this fruity floral is a win for me.

Sweet, likable, and quite a surprise. I got a mini of Midnight Romance as a Sephora Beauty Insider reward, ordering it on a whim. I'd never smelled it, and had written off the original Romance as a nice floral, but nothing exciting. Midnight Romance conjured the idea of a stronger, deeper version of the original. I put this on and was floored, simply because it was about as far from my expectations as could be, and it happened to have quite a few notes that I enjoy and seek out in scents. It is NOTHING like the original Romance, in my mind. It's a sweet berry-vanilla cloud. Romantic, maybe, but nothing about it speaks to the "Midnight" part of its name. I get the juicy-sweet litchi and raspberry, a bit of spicy warm floral, cool powdery iris, and inviting vanilla; I really like the way these notes come together, and while the perfume is sweet, it isn't as sugary as I would expect just from glancing at the notes. It's feminine and utterly appealing. It may not be a masterpiece or my next favorite fragrance, but it's an easy and fun scent to wear.

Pretty, fresh, clean, sweet, fruity, and floral. This is kind of like a sweet fruity raspberry take on the original Romance. Like a middle ground between the original and Beyond Romance... not as floral as the original, but not as sweet as Beyond Romance (which happens to be one of my all time favorites). I really pick up on the raspberry and floral notes. It has that pretty, fresh, and clean floral scent like Romance, but with the added sweetness of raspberry. It’s pretty, soft, inoffensive, and works for just about anytime. It would be a good choice for at the office/work. I get good longevity with Midnight Romance, it lasts throughout the day in me. The projection is nice too, about an arm’s length. I still have an almost full bottle that I’m doing decants of, so if you’re interested please contact me.

So pretty and easy to wear. I keep coming back to it whenever I want a fresh, floral, uncomlicated, feminine summer scent and have been restocking on Midnight Romance since it came out in 2014. Longevity is not the best but I'm happy to reapply during the day or switch to something stronger for the evening. But I have to say that I completely disagree with RL's official description of this scent: "...an 'older sister' that will replace the innocence of a girl with passion and mature love ... the seduction of the night which significantly differs from innocent daydreaming and gentle feelings." To me Midnight Romance is, despite the misnomer of its name, a fresh, young, uncomplicated daytime scent. To me it is exactly the innocent daydreaming and gentle feelings that it is supposed not to be.

Ooh, I love this one. Yeah, it's sickeningly sweet. Yeah, there are a lot of similar scents out there. But I come back to this one every fall like clockwork. Flowers, berries, and a little bit of amber... Sillage is pretty strong, and longevity is decent, too. It's like being in a sugary cloud, but not in the same way that gourmands typically hit. This is one of the few scents that, every single time I wear it, someone compliments me on how nice I smell. If the notes speak to you, you should definitely give this one a shot.

I suspect that fans of the original Romance may be disappointed by this flanker and those disappointed in the original may be pleasantly surprised by this one. I'm in the latter camp. This is a safe, modern, fruity floral, neither groundbreaking nor distasteful. Something about this reminds me of Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noir EDT, but it could just be me, or it could just be that after a while these types of scents run together, full of berries and sugar as they are.

Probably, not my type of perfume. I have the 30 ml bottle of Midnight Romance by RL and I still did not spent even a half of that during 4 years..I cant combine myself well with this perfume. Some notes of it reminds me Lanvin Jeanne and some deep notes remind me Christian Dior Miss Dior. But ..I do not feel anything so unique in this one, for to stand out much of the crowd and to pretend on something, its just reminds some other perfumes.

This is a very nice every day, every season type of scent. It's bright, fresh, fruity and pretty. It's got a bit of that hairspray vibe that I really like. It doesn't last very long, about half the day, but that's how I like my perfume to perform so I'm good with that! It's a pretty basic scent that I think most people would enjoy. I can't really see anyone not liking it. It's a safe blind buy for sure. Very attractive, very fruity-fresh.

I ADORE this perfume far more than its predecessor. It's sweeter, lighter, rosier on my skin with more vanilla and a heavy dose of delicious raspberry. However, it does not last long at all. I sprayed both wrists in the morning only to find that the smell had evaporated, save for the faintest whisper of floral vanilla on my skin 2 hours later. Another 30 mutes later... absolutely. nothing! :(

I only smell raspberry in this, not really any flower or vanilla. It smells sweet too, not in a gourmand way just in a fruity way like how raspberries are naturally sweet. Very fresh, pleasantly fruity. Longevity is poor, 2-3 hours, so that's probably why I don't get any other notes. If it were cheaper I would buy a full sized bottle because I do still like it. 3.5/5

I can’t tell if something is saving this perfume from behaving like a vapid pretty girl or if something is infusing it with a confidence that rescues it from being a wall flower. Either way, Midnight Romance has an undeniable beauty and a gentle character that sets it apart from the realm of perfumes that are pretty without substance.

There is something very becoming about the combination of raspberry and litchi. This is also the case in this composition. I am however surprised that the iris hasn't been voted higher, to me it is easily in the top five most prominent notes. For this reason it also reminds me slightly of certain aspects of Parisienne.

I really love this scent. As others have noted, the name is misleading. No passion, no sexiness, nothing about it screams "Midnight" to me. But it's nice. I get mostly vanilla floral with just the right amount of berries. I wear it during the daytime and to the office. It has moderate sillage but is very longlasting.

I like raspberry scent but it disappears extremely quick. Very floral, I can smell generous amounts of freesia, jasmin sambac and iris with a subtle touch of sweetness. It has a soapy feeling to it. Its fresh, floral and a little sweet. Not a distinctive scent but easy to use in city life.

The fruits are juicy and sweet, the florals feminine, soft and pretty. Not a lot of base notes showing up. Beautiful scent for sure but wears so close to the skin it's barely there. I wish it would project more and for the price I really think it should.

This scent grows beautifully on sunny day or in fan place. During raining days & AC environment, it won't grow well. Have to sniff intimately then only can smell the perfume. The scent is what i have been looking for a perfume. Not too loud but calming.

I tried this one on today and I was surpriced I liked it. I do not normally like sweet scents. I was even more surprised when I saw that there is no violet in this formula. For me this is totally violet! I like it. Feminine and a bit bohemian.

This isn't as good as original romance, but it'll do. I would say this is lighter than the original Romance, too. I smell something sour in this. It doesn't smell like original romance or anything else I have so I guess that's a good thing.

No idea why it's called midnight romance because this is definitely a daytime fragrance, maybe even for spring/summer. To me it smells like tart fruits, maybe with some vanilla in the background.

It is a very sweeet, cosy, juicy fragrance. On me it smells mostly vanilla and raspberry with a hint of peony. It smells lovely but I would not call it sexy but rather cosy, warm and sweet.

It's like Givenchy Hot Couture and Britney Spears Fantasy had a baby, and I love both those fragrances, but this is too sweet and smells a little cheap.

An almost deep floral scent that can lean a bit citrusy. It smells like plastic on me and does not mix with everyone's body chemistry.

My signature scent!! (When I was the age 25-30) Romantic and also safe to wear to work, and everywhere, smelling just Beautiful!

This is exciting! I cannot wait til April! It's about time that the Romance line had some flankers, so this looks promising!
