Polo Earth Provencial Sage

i love it. it is so simple it goes with everything. it stays on the skin for the most part of the work day. i bought the neroli one as a gift she also really liked it. a factor for me that its almost 100% natural

Sampling Ralph Lauren Polo Earth Provencial Sage, a 2023 flanker of the 2022 original, which I recall smelling once but not giving a full review of. Provencial Sage is a fresh green herbal aromatic with some citrus contributions, a clean freshie that leans slightly masculine, smelling a bit like a classic fragrance, but being unobtrusive and not at all that daring enough to engender criticism. It has a sort of sage/lavender sharpness against a citrus and oakmoss background, nicely done, for sure, something that could comfortable be worn to excess. The retail pricing seems to range from about $1 to $2 per ml, the latter being quite a lot for what it is, in my opinion, a nicely constructed fragrance with modest performance and not a ton of innovation. I think at more Zara-like pricing (about $40 for 100ml), it’d be a smash hit and very well accepted, but it just feels a bit overpriced despite smelling nice. 7 out of 10

At first it is quite similar to the original Polo Earth but Provencial Sage gets rid of the citrus notes quickly, putting upfront the herbal side of the fragrance. The rosemary is quite prominent in a very dry, real, non-elegant way. I think Provencial Sage is more masculine, leaning towards a vintage after shave. If you prefer light, citrus, traditional colognes, then go for the original Polo Earth. Still, worth to try.

Yes, agree with @esteban747, it does remind me of Old Spice Lime on the opening, which I like a lot. However, the middle to me smells musky (or the basil is strong). I have the small bottle which I'm not unhappy I bought and will use, but will not be buying the big bottle (as I did with the Moroccan Neroli which I love).

Though marketed as unisex, I perceive a slight masculine tilt. It's a youthful, casual scent, ideal for daytime wear. The claim of 97% natural ingredients is noteworthy, especially given the widespread use of synthetics in contemporary perfumery. The box explicitly lists "seven naturally derived ingredients, including Bergamot heart, green mandarin, Haitian vetiver, sage heart, lavandin heart, diva lavender, neroli formula...no animal-derived ingredients," which I see as a part of their appeal to environmentally and health-conscious consumers.

Quick first impression is this is too sweet and fruity for me. Young guy or female audience. Antilles Vetiver is my favorite by far but hey that’s just me.
