Polo Oud

It's here!! Arrived a whole day early and got it in from Harrod's which is the launch store for this. I decided to go on-skin with this one since I'm not going out anyway tonight so I can share my initial thoughts on it. To those who will want to compare it to Supreme Oud, I say don't. The reason is that even though the note breakdowns may look similar, this definitely has a different vibe compared to Supreme Oud. On the initial opening, the clary sage definitely comes in with some slight pink pepper, but only slightly. However, the heart notes really move in quickly off of my skin with the cinnamon and rose absolute mingling together, while the orange blossom note is there, its there in a way that is circling around the cinnamon and rose notes, so the fears that I had of the cinnamon and orange note smelling medicinal doesn't appear to be here. The base notes however really took me by surprise. In Supreme Oud, the breakdown tends to have the oud hovering around the heart or middle part of the fragrance, and even from my decant, that tends to be the case. Comparing that to Polo Oud, the oud is much more pronounced and definitely more of a foundational/base note. What is great here however with Polo Oud is including the oud and guaiac wood with a frankincense or incense type of note into this fragrance really makes it stand out more to my nose in comparison to Supreme Oud. To me this addition gives the fragrance a more spicer scent profile, kind of reminds me of going through one of the many spice markets during my time in Marrakech. The vetiver in this as well is definitely present and a nice addition to this fragrance, its not a cheap-smelling vetiver to me, though it is not as prominent to my nose in comparison to the oud and frankincense/incense, but, it is definitely there. All in all, I think this is a total winner for those that love spicy scents with some accessible oud that won't turn you off at all, which is typical for designer fragrances that use oud the majority of the time. Too early for me to share on performance and sillage, but, I'll share that later on. Initial impressions have me very satisfied with this.

Polo Oud Ralph Lauren Just received this and tried 2 sprays. First impression... Prominent Westernized Oud. First few minutes, the Oud came on Loudly but as it settles after a few minutes, it becomes smoother and more well balanced with the rest of the notes. What does it smells like or similar to? I'll put it in a similar category as Tom Ford Oud Wood, Versace Oud Noir and also Gucci Intense Oud. The rose here isn't pronounced and Polo Oud is different from the rest of the Rose Oud frags with the sweetness, this rose here is just subtlety sitting behind. I thought there's also Abit of similarities with Amouage Silver Oud. Perhaps it's just the Oud playing with my mind but it seems to smell like a easier to wear version of Silver Oud or a great alternative to Gucci Intense Oud. I will have to go dig out and revisit ome of these bottles I mentioned to compare side by side for a more accurate update. Anyway, it's very wearable and anyone with some basic oud frag experience should be able to handle this. I don't get the old polo green dna here either. This is like a complete new frag and if you blind test this you won't guess that it's a under RL Polo. It has that smokiness, I get leathery like notes too and the incense supported by rose and cinnamon. Worth a Full Bottle for Westernized Oud lovers. Ps. The drydown seems similar to the drydown for Atkinsons His Majesty The Oud. Polo Oud is a polarizing scent. At least 3-4 stage in scent development with a great lovely drydown.

Carlos Benaïm and Pascal Gaurin are the perfumers for this fragrance The notes here are similar to other Middle Eastern fragrances but sets this sets itself apart by some crafty western blending of the Vetiver and Pachouli (Two distinctive notes used in Polo green fragrances). In fact it is the Pachouli and Vetiver notes that puts this fragrance in the realm of Polo green (Original and later versions) and not a second coming of Polo Supreme Oud. These notes fit very well into the eastern DNA and they are blended with a very good quality Oud . In some ways early on in the opening Polo Oud reminds me a bit of Incense Oud By Kilian mixed with The Spirit of Dubai by Turath but Polo Oud is different with the interplay between the incense, Vetiver, Pachouli and Rose in the dry down with Oud taking a back seat at this point of the fragrance. CARLOS BENAÏM is a freakin genius and this fragrance shows no slowing down of that genius recognized with lifetime achievement awards from both the Fragrance Foundation and The American Society of Perfumers.This Polo Oud would be a good place to start if you want to get into Oud while not smelling offensive to those around who are unaccustomed to the Oud note. This Oud smells sweet and woody and has no Barnyard smell like some Oud's get. Plus for a Polo Oud fragrance the price is very manageable. I just got a great deal on discounters for what I would pay for a Lattifah oud bottle. $45 US. Not bad.

Blind buy and I’m honestly impressed with the quality. It’s an oud‐focused fragrance done in a smooth, modern designer style. Not exactly mass‐appealing, but very safe if you enjoy smoked woods. The rose is only a soft support note and barely noticeable. The oud has a dark‐chocolate vibe from the patchouli, with an almost powdery touch from the cinnamon and pepper. It stays balanced and never gets too heavy. Great for formal situations, dinners, and fall or winter evenings. Compared to Tom Ford Oud Wood, this one is simply better on my skin. Maybe not as “fancy,” but it has much more presence and performance. Oud Wood is almost mute on me and, honestly, nothing special. In terms of scent DNA, it sits between Boss Bottled Triumph Elixir and 1 Million Golden Oud. Triumph Elixir is more experimental, weirder, and more complex with its patchouli‐violet twist, but it shares that chocolatey patchouli in the dry down. 1 Million Golden Oud is louder, more festive, with the oud right in your face — beautiful, richer, but less formal. Polo Oud is the most rounded and wearable of the three: a clean, elegant, dusty chocolate woodiness with zero fruitiness and no animalic tones. Dark, smooth, and surprisingly well done.

I haven't had the opportunity to try Supreme Oud or M7 which some people are comparing it to, so this is a more standalone opinion. As I spray this I get spicy cinnamon and pepper up front with sage and oud in the background. A very relaxing warm spicy fragrance off the top. The cinnamon continues to stay at the forefront with oud becoming more prominent as time passes. While the cinnamon begins to fade (but still very noticeable) the sage remains and I begin to get faint notes of rose blended with the oud. About an hour in the oud is still very noticeable, and the main scent of the fragrance. Some pepper still remains with the sage. At this point the cinnamon is more in the background and far less noticeable, but still there. As more time passes the rose becomes more prominent creating a very nice rose and oud fragrance that many oud fans will be more familiar with. Overall a classy and warm fragrance best suited for colder weather in the fall/winter. I would gravitate more towards nighttime use, but would be great during some days. For the price I feel this is a great value for an oud fragrance, even if it is a synthetic. I would recommend it.

Funnily enough I did not know this existed. I bought Ralph’s club elixir and received a sample of this and was blown away. I bought a full bottle immediately after trying the sample all day. This is the so incredibly good and it is so far my favorite purchase in perhaps the past year and I have bought so much for my collection, many of which are niche. I recently had a designer kick and have been presently surprised. It does share similarities to the original polo in the green bottle so I understand it representing that. It’s like a sweet, smooth, oudy version of the original polo green. No sharpness or harshness in this at all. I am so happy with polo recently. I can tell they are going into a more niche territory with higher quality ingredients and excellent blended parfumerie. I will buy this again and again. My wife loves it as well. It is a very easy going sweet oud. Thank you polo :)!

#990 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is very warm and wearable oud thanks to a subtle rose note and the pepper-patchouli-sage-incense blend. Really likable. Same sort of oudiness you get in Gucci, Versace, not the dry or animalic oud many Mideastern scents feature. So I think this is fine for the office, great for dates. It's a solid performer but not beastly or overwhelming and does turn to a pure agarwood scent in the dry down. I don't think this will offend anyone in close spaces. The incense hangs on and keeps this attractive and interesting through the day. Reasonably priced as well. Great blind buy for me, and thanks to the incense and sage I prefer this over Versace Oud Noir and very much prefer this over Gucci Intense Oud which is too fake fruity for my taste. Can't imagine anyone disliking this. This will get a lot of use.

Very nice Oud Perfume. Definitely a safe western style Oud. Supreme Oud was skanky more middle eastern. I prefer this one just because it is more versatile, smoother and just a better perfume I feel. I do get the M7 whiff off this too, which is awesome because I miss the 80ml bottle with the black label. This is dark, mysterious, refined, smooth I'd go as far to say elegant. It is limited to weather Definitely from Fall though to Spring but the colder days only. Performance is good lasts 6-8hrs, projection decent but hard to gauge I feel it's only a 2-3feet max projection but that's a good thing in my opinion. Price is great for the quality, as it smells great and not synthetic for me. 9/10 - losing a point for versatility but for a cold weather scent 10/10 for me, you can wear this in any situation. Good stuff!

Opens with a smokey, slow burning oud. As it dries down, the rose quickly comes out as a thick and dense oriental style rose. In the further dry down, the patchouli brings it all together. Polo may be a little late to the oud party by releasing this, but this is perhaps one of the best rose oud combos I have smelled in a long time! The quality and performance of this fragrance is on par with much more expensive brands like TF Private line or Louis Vuitton fragrances. If you're an experienced fraghead, and have tried a number of oud fragrances, you might appreciate this fragrance, but also find it redundant. But, If ever anyone wanted to get aquatinted to rose oud fragrances, I would definitely direct them to Polo Oud for a start. This is by far one of the best examples of a quality rose oud fragrance.

Just because it’s in a very similar bottle, it has literally nothing to do with the OG Polo Green or any of it’s flankers. It is, however, a VERY pleasant smooth style oud in the same vein as TF Oud Wood and Versace Oud Noir. It’s maybe 50% RL Supreme Oud and 50%YSL M7, mostly at the start with the spicy rose/pink pepper and a heavy orange/blossom feel towards the mid. Performs well, lasts a good many hours, and settles to a smooth and slightly powdery woodiness. To be honest, I hadn’t heard of this one and happened to see it on RL’s site when I was buying something else, so for me this was a very pleasant surprise. Highly recommend if you enjoy this style.

One of my favorite fragrances. In the fall/winter amazing. It's funny to me that YT influencers are hyping up Boss absolute. This smells so close to that and this came out before it. With all the hype of 67 you would think they would take time to look at other frags that polo has, but whatever. This smells great. If you are under age 30 you might not think so. Elagent, insence, little sweet, and warm. Wife is a big fan. Polo Oud Summary: Performance: 7/10 Projection: 7/10 Smell: 10/10

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is blind buy worthy. I think this is a well priced winter/ fall scent. It reminds me of heading into the office, or going out to a gathering in the winter/fall in my turtleneck. I feel like, compared to Tom Ford's Oud there's more notes in this. On one hand I may have preferred a bit less of them and more oud, but I think that they compliment the Oud well. I think this is is a keeper. I bought this as a "Poor Man's Tom Ford Oud Wood".

So I worse this last winter and loved it. Have picked up another bottle ($40 cheaper than anywhere else) and ready for winter! I live in New Zealand so almost winter here! Straight away, first whiff of 2025 yeah I absolutely love this juice. And it's refillable!! Probably my favorite Oud perfume. Had a nice balance and blended well. For the price it's great. It's not the most versatile perfume but Damm it's good at what it was created for. 9/10 - Losing a point for versatility.

If Nassamotto Black Afgano and tom ford noir extreme had a baby. This would be it! With just hints of the original polo green this is without question the best scent I’ve smelled in a long time. For the first time I’m gonna need a back up! If you’re a fan of woody based Oud fragrances with a modern twist of rose and green patchouli then buy this now!!!!! Longevity still to be determined. My hopes are high. I don’t know what else to say. I’m in love.

A burst of pink pepper & clary sage opens Polo Oud once you spray it, then the spiciness fades to reveal cinnamon, rose, and orange blossom, while the oud starts to make its presence known, joined by incense. Beautiful. The base notes of oud, patchouli, vetiver, incense and resin make it smoother and classy. Above average longevity and strong sillage at first, then moderate and refined. Lovely.

I've got two back ups during a sale. I absolutely love this, I can't get enough of this! This and Supreme Cashmere are my favorites. I still love the OG but these are modern, smooth, warm, mysterious perfumes.. 10/10 for it's category Fall through Spring, cooler weather and this just shines. Ugh. I love the scent profile but it’s so weak on me. I hope it’s just the dry winter skin right now going against me and when this extreme cold goes away that my skin will be back to normal and hopefully project and last longer. But this is oudy and incensy maybe a little rose for some mild sweetness. Lovely scent. Just bad experience so far.

@Bilbo Fraggins It might be worthwhile considering different years and how people’s bottles have been stored. I’m not familiar with this being reformed, but I get very little rose. I get straight up oud and pepper, followed by some smoke, cinnamon and patchouli. Outstanding manly scent, all the same.

Bravo Ralph Lauren, this shit is really yummy. I tried it in the airport, and just had to have it. Woody, smoky, sweet, pepper and sexy. Mysterious for sure. Not a fan of other Polo dnas, but this one has me impressed. Almost niche quality. Almost. Masturbate.

This is great stuff! The oud is a perfect touch to the Green DNA. It has an IVY LEAGUE library and old books smell. So refined and classy while being classic. Not your typical rose oud saffron mix.

Best RL Polo release since Modern Reserve. I was immediately reminded of YSL M7, and I haven't had that in many years. Don't bash this until you try it; definitely full bottle worthy.

i currently have 650+ bottles and many many ouds, but this is hands down my favorite oud frag ! i have four 100ml bottles

This fragrance is a gem. Does not smell like the original green polo, I would say it's a safe buy for men.

Western Oud not animalic, easy to wear, very pleasant, I wish if it has better performance.

I recently made a new purchase and decided to go with the tester version to save $10. It cost me around $55, which is typical for Ralph Lauren Polo colognes and reflects the quality. I don’t remember Polo offering an (active) Oud scent, so as a loyal, addicted fragrance enthusiast, I decided to give it jump on-board and give it a try. Overall, the fragrance smells great. There’s an initial synthetic/metallic, almost medicinal note, but as it dries down, it develops into a solid mix of smoky Oud, woody notes, rose, pepper, a touch of fruity sweetness, vetiver, and patchouli. The patchouli and vetiver notes remind me of the Polo Green DNA. That may also be influenced by the bottle which looks very similar to Polo Green and Polo Green Intense, with only a slight change in the cap design—I had to turn on my lights to really tell them apart. This is Ralph Lauren Polo’s take on a safer, more masculine Oud scent with great character. I’d consider it a colder weather fragrance, though it’s not quite as enjoyable as Versace Oud Noir. Performance is pretty decent overall. By late afternoon, I reapplied it to re-experience it again.

This is an extremely approachable and easy-to-appreciate oud fragrance. I find the reviews claiming this is "funky" or "fecal" to be borderline ridiculous. The oud here is very gentle. If you don't like this level of oud, I can't imagine you'd like any level of it as this is like the tricycle of ouds. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoy "Western ouds" like this because I have no desire to "challenge" the noses of my coworkers or others around me. I want them to appreciate the fragrances I wear just as much as me, and this one, I believe, fits that bill. Polo oud comes off like a woody, spicy and masculine fragrance. Perfect for the cooler months of the year.

This is a sophisticated, mature and formal scent where I can't see myself wearing outside unless I'm dressed well. As previously stated, it's not really a versatile scent. It's strictly for the cooler weather because of how strong and polorazing it is, especially for the first few hours. This will eventually be discontinued and sought after. I can't really see myself finishing a big bottle of this any time soon due to its lack of versatility, so this big bottle should last me for ages. For what it is, it's a pleasant and enjoyable scent.

First and foremost this is a real Oud fragrance! This thing hits you with the pink pepper sage to the face then the funk for about 15 to 30 minutes!... then........the sweetness comes in smooth with the hint of background of oud ...Older men can pull this off because we have the patience...........beautiful polo 8/10 funky comandina!!!!

Lovely fragrance. Oud is a nice scent often used in niche fragrances, but this still has a designer feel to it.

Good stuff. The oud is front and center. 80% smooth / 20% funk. Not a love, but a solid like for the winter.

Polo Oud is a pleasant, western style oud. Rose is also pretty subtle. Polo Oud can be an easy introduction to oud for a guy worried about oud perfumes having the barnyard accord - none of that here. Performance is pretty decent overall. Given Polo Oud's smooth and creamy smell, almost milky, it would work even in summer. In the late afternoon, I reapplied it again to get full strength and then sprayed Gucci Intense Oud and 1 Million Golden Oud on either wrist for comparison. The Gucci, while pleasant, is really mild and seems to have no oud at all. By comparison, Polo Oud is definitely stronger overall and has a pronounced oud note. 1 Million Golden Oud is way stronger than either the Gucci or Polo. Leather is also prominent and it has a much richer smell with more depth which I prefer over the Gucci and Polo. For me, I'll stick with Amouage Silver Oud and 1 Million Golden Oud.

Not my type of scent for now maybe when I grow a little bit older ☺️ I’m still keeping it! Last weeks on clothes 🤪 7/10

A BIG disapointment! its has nothing to the discontinued marvelious Polo Oud Supreme.. so dont be fooled for a blind buy! Its not a relanch, its a new perfume and its a DOA! There is no OUD in it, It has a cheap accord that you find in cheap attars in the MEA to mimic oud like scent! and the rest is a tammed aromatic accords with a faint hint of a smoky plasticky soapy vetiver/patchouly. No class no performance no quality, not even a mass appealing, so it would be discontuned soon for mediocre sales!

Most of the ratings here are inaccurate. The scent smells like rusty iron, possibly from saffron. A heavy, creamy rusty iron smell with saffron. Oud appears only for the first 3 minutes only. There are no other notes. Unwearable in my opinion. I do not consider it a fragrance scent. Bad 0.1/10

When does it stop? The reviews and ratings here are total garbage just like this scent.

Fragancia perfecta para empezar con el oud y agarrarle gusto. Toque especiado y profundo con la rosa, pimienta y la canela en la salida volviéndose un poco de corte medicinal el aroma en el secado que sigue evolucionando hasta volverse un perfume amaderado oscuro de corte dulzón sin llegar a molestar jamás ni perder un momento ese punto de elegancia y refinamiento al que apunta. Oud suave Pero presente y que dice aquí Estoy sin ser exagerado ni oler a establo o maderas cuasi podridas y Trabajado de manera magistral para no dejarnos el combo rosa/oud clásico sino algo más y muy al estilo de un polo. Disfruto mucho la línea blue y ese punto marino/amaderado aromatico denota igual que no son solo perfumes azules. Van más allá si se saben usar en las ocasiones correctas. Este polo OUD no parece un perfume comercial. Es Suave Pero intenso, arrollador sin ser un modo bestia. Elegante, distinguido y con clase. Otoño, invierno, traje, corbata, abrigo largo. Un evento en la tarde o noche, una cita o simplemente para disfrutarlo uno dejando una huella inolvidable al pasó sin quererlo. Un acierto total de Ralph Lauren este perfume. Nicho en botella de diseñador.

So I got this, my first Ralph Lauren, got it for about 50$, got it because it seemed like a really good deal. It's nice, smells cheap, not gonna lie, I like it, but it is basic and cheap smelling, nice, 100%, but something like, I don't know.... Azzaro would put out, or Montblanc, the quality is just not there. Quality wise smells like a Versace, not on the level of Armani, for example. I thought Ralph Lauren makes better stuff. Also the cap is plastic, come on... do it in metal, not this cheap crap, spoils the experience. Good for colder weather, no way when it is warm outside, because the base is cheap. I have the Oud Essential from Guerlain and that one has an ambroxan base, you can pull off in warmer weather, this Polo no. edit: the orange and cinnamon give a nutty smell, not bad, just too sweet and youthful. I don't understand how people in the comments call this manly, gentlemany, mature... it's not that at all

This is a great easy wearing Oud in a similar vein of Oud Wood and Oud Noir. Not that they smell the same. Just that it wears easy and inoffensive, with a bit of character. The Oud has just a very slight peppery medical touch when first sprayed, but it settles down into a rich smooth wood accord in just a minute or two. The cinnamon shows up quickly and lingers though out the wear in the best way possible. In the background you will get “small” hints of orange citrus and fresh rose which really rounds this blend off nicely. It also has a perfect slight sweetness that remains light and airy, not cloying. Easy wear for Spring, Fall, Winter, and cooler summer nights. One of Polo’s best “Non Blue or Red” releases in quite some time IMHO.

J’ai reçu ma bouteille aujourd’hui bien qu’il n’a strictement rien à voir avec le polo Green original, c’est un oud de rose un peu à l’ancienne, mais l’ouverture est très sympa. Les notes de cœur sont très belles aussi mais les notes de fond ressemble trop à du déjà-vu un peu comme korloff oud , en bien mieux plus doux,j’ai vraiment apprécié la première demi-heure, on pouvait sentir du oud indonésien pas du tout synthétique, le parfum est de bonne qualité Helo. Il fait très naturel alors que je suis sûre qu’il n’y a aucun oud véritable Notes ressenti : oud, rose , encens, cannelle Je l’ai payé 50€ chez un revendeur de parfums Je pense qu’il ne faut pas le payer plus de 75€ Parfum hivernal trop lourd pour un temps trop chaud 7/10

This DNA isn't for me. I now understand the comparison with YSL M7. Polo Oud has some sort of quasi-metallic or medicinal facet that is very strong and persistent. Must be how the clary sage and red pepper plays with the oud accord or something. M7 has this weird quasi-medicinal or "cola" accord. I traded away my bottle of M7, and I won't buy a bottle of Polo Oud. That quasi-metallic/medicinal smell puts me off. Even Issara by Parfums Dusita has a similar quasi-metallic facet to a lesser degree, but enough for me to avoid a full bottle of even that otherwise beautiful fragrance. I do have Polo Supreme Oud and Polo Green, and Polo Oud is NOTHING like either. Nor is it anything like Turath by Spirit of Dubai.

All these reviews are full of BS. This is a classic Rose/Oud combo, and both notes are extremely prominent. The only thing the reviews get right is that it is approachable. This isn't a middle eastern rose/oud take, but a very modernized western take. This is 'preppy oud' that only Polo could do. Well played, and worth discounter prices. Side note, they use citrus to create this sour edge that comes across animalic in the dry down. Interesting and strange approach that actually works in a half ass kind of way. People will probably hunt for it when it's discontinued.

Beautiful fragrance that smells like quality ingredients were used in its creation. I am excited by the classy presentation and flacons and look forward to collecting the others in the line and Ralphs club. These look amazing on a shelf together and you know I have decided that a fragrance house that puts in the effort to make the whole collection have symmetry is a worthy choice for me and my collection. The fragrance and its smell is of course the most important element and this is stunning.

This is much tamer than Polo Supreme Oud and does have a slight hint of "western" oud. No one note overpowers the fragrance and the blend is nice. Nothing harsh for me. Has muted projection and sillage. Longevity is moderate on skin. Overall, if you find this in a price range you are comfortable with, get it. I would suggest a sample just so you know what you are getting into...Otherwise I really like the fragrance... Enjoy!

It's like they took certain aspects of Initio Mystic Experience and YSL Cuir to make a hybrid. This is close to how I imagine the two layered together would smell except with a heavy dose of beginners oud. Very pleasant to my nose and I will absolutely be wearing this many more times. Discontinued so buy now. Don't regret missing out on this!

It's good, but far from great. Reminiscent of the modernized Polo Green (the current and the cologne intense in some measure), with modern and saturated aromachemicals - cardamom, smoke, saffron and what not. The oud emulation is alligned with the Oud Wood pattern established. I don't know. It's not bad, but I just can't sing along.

i sampled this at Harrods two months ago and i SO wanted it not to be Supreme Oud II, but that's precisely what it smelled like. i won't call it a Supreme Oud dupe, but most here on Fragrantica WILL call it a clone or dupe of that earlier Polo creation. since i quite like it, i would buy Polo Oud if i didn't already own Supreme Oud.

For the stupid people: this is to review fragrances you've smelled, not to sound like an imbecile giving your opinion on specific notes like we care in this particular space. Go put on your mega feminine gourmand that you think smells good and talk to yourself in the mirror or something. Herbs.

A bunch of idiots hating on something just because they don't like Oud, have you even smelled it before rushing to the internet and showing us all how little you know about....everything ? Fragrantica, for the love of all that is good and holy, please find a way to stop this farce...!!!
