Ralph's Club Elixir

The opening of the fragrance is a powdery and spicey makeup aroma. You will have to be a fan of Orris/iris if you get this bottle, as that is the major aroma at the opening. The opening projects well for 5-10 minutes with these notes. After the opening settles, the incense and woody scents bring the aroma to a more masculine feel to balance out the powdery opening. I continue to get these mid-notes into the first hour before you are led to a darker and woodier aroma similar to the notes in the EDP and Parfum. The aroma projected well off my skin for the first hour, creating a large scent bubble around me. After the first hour, the bubble closed to about two feet from my skin until the fourth hour. Eventually, the scent does become a skin scent that lasts over eight hours on my skin. This was an interesting fragrance, as it threw me off from what I expected after my EDP and Parfum reviews. If you recall, I stated that those two had fresh and easy-to-wear aromas that could be worn all year round. However, the Elixer is a much darker and powdery take on the DNA. The opening and mid of the Elixer appear to be completely different when compared to the other flankers. The Elixer's darker and powdery take on the DNA is evident in its intense and rich scent profile, which is more suitable for colder evenings and formal occasions. Only when you get to the dry-down can you find the connection between Elxier and the other flankers, as only then do they share the Ralphs Club DNA. The Elixer fragrance resonates with me on a personal level. It's a more dressed-up and mature take on the Ralphs Club line, perfect for a colder evening when you're dressed to impress. This is the scent of a sophisticated man over the age of 35. The Elixer is not just a fragrance but a perfect match for me and my favorite in the line. If only I could get my hands on the EDT, my review of th complete line would be complete.

TL/DR: Smells great get it at a discounter or on sale performance is very average. Another wonderful creation from Domenic Ropion. As I perused the 'reminds me of' section above, It appears to be quite obvious that someone just plopped everything with orris/iris into it, and I'd venture to guess that those folks haven't actually smelled most of their own recommendations, or even this one, as they are pretty far off. Having said that, from the first time I smelled and wore this, It felt like a proper flanker to the Ralph's Club lineup. From a potency standpoint, it was a bit of a letdown initially, but I soon realized that there is much more to this fragrance than you'll get at the counter sniffing test strips at the local Macy's. After draining a decant, I got a bottle. This does have vague similarities to VUI, and a smidge of Givenchy Gentleman Society vibes, but I feel as though it stays in its own lane for the most part. It is quite good. I don't notice any of the off-putting notes that some other reviewers have mentioned, but that is just me. It's not as bold as the 'elixir' title has come to suggest, but we've seen other 'elixir' frags disappoint that were FAR more hyped and anticipated than this one (looking at another DR creation, a much less successful 'Y' elixir). Ralph's Club fragrances are designed to smell good, in as 'gentlemanly generic' of a way as possible. That isn't a dig on the line, as I really like them all. This is probably my favorite, the added orris and the woody depth that lingers in the mid and dry-down is excellent. A bit more potency wouldn't hurt, as it is a very inoffensive fragrance, but I guess we can't have what wasn't meant to be. This fragrance achieves what I believe it was created for, and it does so very well. I do wish for more projection and longevity, though...

Ralph's Club Elixir is a woody, spicy and aromatic fragrance. It has a slightly dry woody and spicy opening, which smells like roasted cardamom with some hints of orris root that is also a bit reminiscent of the smell of iris. About 15 or 20 minutes later the fragrance becomes more aromatic, some floral accords of lavender and geranium begin to appear around a green sage, some leathery accord is also noticeable that gives a little opacity or darkness to the aroma. Finally, after 2 hours and until its development ends, the aroma becomes sweeter, with a base of tonka, vanilla and patchouli that is very pleasant. This Elixir version continues to retain the attractive aroma of the Ralph's Club line, only in this version the aroma is more spicy, but it is not a heavy fragrance, however I would recommend it to be used during the first days or nights of spring and in autumn and winter as a daytime fragrance, for formal or casual situations, office work, among other activities. Its longevity is very good, over 12 hours, with a good sillage for the first hour and then it is perceived at a distance of approximately 30 cm. Its aroma may bring memories of other fragrances or at least similar in its structure, for example the opening has some similarities with Sauvage Elixir in terms of spiciness, but not in power or smell, and in its drying phase it also reminded me of Eros Parfum. In short, it is an attractive fragrance, I think it is easy to like for almost anyone, slightly expensive, although perhaps over time it can be obtained at better prices. It is worth it if it does not have fragrances like Eros Parfum or YSL Le Parfum because of the redundancy in style, but for that same reason it could also be a good purchase option for those who already like those fragrance

The fragrance itself is rock solid, while it does not reinvent the wheel from the original DNA, it fuses excellently with some of the new nuances. A fruity tangerine ensures that the spice blend of cardamom and sage does not immediately invade the nose. The scent is definitely spicy and not too scarce, with time, however, lavender and iris butter provide a warm, bright effect. Remotely, the balsamic patchouli base also reminds me of Pasha de Cartier, although Ralph's Club is clearly spicier and only later becomes sweeter. The overall performance is on par for a designer elixir oil concentration. The longevity is well above average, I am clocking in at least 10 hours minimum. The guys writing reviews on here saying this is a weak fragrance have either lost their noses in a car accident. Or, they think frags like CDNIM are awesome because they only care about melting faces with harsh, loud, and scratchy garbage. While this is not a room filling projector, it does provide a heavy sillage for a good 3-4 hours when you first put it on. People will definitely smell you as you walk by them. As for the projection, I would say this scent project 1-2 arms lengths for a solid 2 hours. After that, it sits closer to about a foot for another 6-8 hours. For it's overall value, If you are patient and shop around online or at rack stores, you can now find this for a good price. I just recently purchased the 2.5oz bottle for only $59 at Ross Dress for Less, which is a dynamite price/value for a fragrance like this.

This fits well in the line and still carries the base DNA the entire line shares but takes it in a darker, richer direction. You do get the Grapefruit/mandarin combo off the top but its not a bright, sweet fruity the way it comes off. To me it comes off as more of a semisweet dark slight spice sensation with the cardamom. You also, immediately get the mid all mixing together. I feel the orris is a big player in this one that brings that almost floral, earthy tone to the fragrance when blended with the aromatics in the mid. All of this is still present when the leather and olibanum hit in the dry down which gives it the dark, resinous tone. Very nice, dark, earthy, rich and full bodied fragrance. Although I like this fragrance, its not really for me and not one I would be reaching for in my collection. I feel it is more of an occasion type of fragrance and not a signature scent, every day kind of wear. Worth a sample or a sniff at sephora. Who knows, it might be your holy grail fragrance.

Seriously guys, this stuff is phenomenal. But don't base your opinion of it sprayed on a strip. You need to give it a "ride" on your skin, in my opinion. When I smelled it on a strip, I was like, "meh". But then tested it on my arm and holy s**t! Really, really good! And I completely agree with @Realest Rater 47. The dry down is where it’s at. I will tell you this; the test blotter that I tested it on, literally half a spray, is still good strong a week into it. Do with that what you will. Peace 9/01/2023 I felt compelled to add the following, and please keep in mind this is just my opinion, but this fragrance smells absolutely NOTHING like “Dior Homme Intense” or “Valentino Uomo Intense”. It is not even in the same category and again is not remotely close to the above mentioned fragrances. Again, only one man’s opinion. It’s all subjective and everyone’s experience is different. I by no means am belittling anyone who feels that these fragrances are similar. Peace

The best Ralph’s Club Flanker in the lineup (sorry NY). Cardamom, Iris, leather....extreme class. You can find this on discounters /at TJ Maxx for the $60-$75 range and it’s a true no brainer for the price. The fresh, woody iris gives off suit and tie vibes, corporate final boss. This scent is Ralph Lauren’s take on a Givenchy Gentleman / Dior Homme Intense , but still maintains its own overall scent. Don’t buy this thinking you’re getting gentlemen or DHI, you’re getting Ralph’s club elixir, which is beyond exceptional. This fragrance is in the same category as Aventus, and YSL Tuxedo...obviously they don’t smell the same whatsoever but they give off high end, classy, and elegant vibes. The leather comes in nicely and is not over done at around hours 2-3 and rides smoothly for the next 7 hours. This is a great performer, the smell is lovely, and you can get a bottle for less than $75....mega win. Longevity: 8-10 hours minimal depends on how much you spray

Alright, I've been wearing this a lot (and getting multiple friends to wear it when around me) and I've finally realized that the dense treated leather smell is very TUBEROUS. It's like a weird old potato smell, but it doesn't stand out that way until you notice it. Once you smell it, you can't unsmell it. Wild. I don't think it's just the orris root? Dogfather nailed it below me, the note is reminiscent of Carolina Herrera, but I think it's more like the burn note in Cobalt Elixir. CH probably did it better.. cause polo did it TOO STRONG (maybe) on that one note. As someone else said down there, that part of it seems to be an actual extract because it's so dense. Edit: wearing it now just leaves a horrible chemical version of a rotten potato in my nose.. layering this with Cremo Spice & Black Vanilla cleans it up, but I'm a believer that you shouldn't have to layer fragrances. I think I'm done with this one for now. Maybe it'll macerate.

Ralph’s Club Elixir feels like a more mature, smoother evolution of the original rather than a loud reinvention. The iris reminds me of the Givenchy Gentleman line, but it’s handled differently here: less powdery, more refined, and blended in a way that feels smoother and more understated. Throughout the wear, the original Ralph’s Club DNA stays tucked into the background, adding familiarity without overpowering the new direction. Performance is a strong point here as well: it lasts a long time on my skin and projects confidently, with a noticeable but tasteful sillage that makes its presence known without being overbearing. Overall, it’s confident, polished, and quietly classy — a scent that doesn’t need to shout to leave a lasting impression.

Like wow. Niche quality. Manly iris, sweet, developing, with a quality lavender note that is amplified by some insence/pepper. The part of the fragrance when the insence starts to kick in and mix with the lavender smells phenomenal. Bad boy extreme might share the insence/ pepper note but that's it. Dior elixir has amber and nutmeg not this. The rest of its comparables are niche fragrances. But all of the niche comparables are not as sweet and fresh like this. Just wanted to share my initial thoughts with a bottle on the way. And maybe a full detailed review from me in the future.This is definitely something that is not mainstream. P.S. when I found the tester strip in my pocket after forgetting I left it there. My immediate reaction when that smokey sweet lavender scent hit my nose I literally said out loud, WHOA, what is smeeling prestigious like that.

What a scent this is! This is a combination of buttery orris and lavender with a background of green fir. The iris (orris root) in this lasts forever, you can still smell it in the dry-down even after 24 hours. Although the composition of this fragrance is deep, dense and balmy, I think you can wear this all year long because there is this fougere freshness in the background. Maybe not for a hot summer day but other than that you're good to go. The performance is beast mode. Lasts 24+ hours on the skin and weeks on clothes. Within the first 6 hours it fills the room because of its aromatic (Fir) note. Even after 24 hours it projects about an arm's length with only a few sprays. One of the best releases in the recent years.

If you love masculine leather and woody scents but have been afraid to dip your toes into iris fragrances, this may be the perfect scent to try. The iris (orris) is present but not overpowering or too lipsticky/feminine. I prefer this over Prada L’Homme Intense and the Givenchy Gentleman scents which have a bit too much of the lipstick iris note to me. You can still smell the EDP and Parfum inspiration here as well, but that aromatic approach takes a backseat to the darker, deeper notes. This is a perfect fall and winter sophisticated office and evening fragrance for those who like masculine scents. It doesn’t hurt that you can often find it for less than $60 at discounters.

Great scent, for me it's a mix of La Nuit de L'Homme and Velvet Iris (Essential Parfums), crafted aswell by maestro Ropion. The opening is good, what happens next is just pure magic. It mixes so many perfume realms (leather, cardamon+lavender combo, patchouli/olibanum and citruses) so well, I can't believe it. And what's best about it - it's very rare (middle-eastern Europe). Great for many occasions. The most suitable one will be a date / meeting in quite formal setting, but you can spray it before going to the office on daily basis. Definitely not a good idea to wear it in hot weather, but summer nights are viable. Lasts for 12+, projects well for few hours.

I gotta say I’m with the reviewer beneath me. I really enjoyed the original and the Parfum, and was a little startled when I smelled the opening of the Elixir...not “bad”, but wasn’t expecting quite so many trees.. After that first five minutes it settled into a more smooth and elegant version of the original. It’s well blended so I can’t really pick out many particular notes, but if I was forced to describe it so far I would have to say it’s a good mix or the original DNA, Gentlemen Society, with some added depth coming from the base notes. Note sure where we go after Elixir these days, but in excited for the next release! (Please don’t be “Cologne”)

Wow. This scent is stunning, I can't even lie. I completely agree with gkanary, this is different from Dior Homme Intense or Valentino Uomo Intense. I can see how some people may find them similar, there's a subtle Iris "lipstick" note that rounds out Ralph's Club Elixir. As opposed to DHI and VUI which are strongly reliant on the Iris. Ralph's Club Elixir is the scent Reynold Woodcock from Phantom Thread or Mickey Pearson from The Gentlemen would wear. Subtle English elegance is what comes to mind. (Yes I know Mickey isn't British but you get the point)

I felt like Parfum improved the original DNA (never liked EDP). However, this is further improving the scent profile (and quality, taking it in niche direction). The parfum version got soft suede added to it and made a little woodier, a little classier and a little more evening appropriate, I think. While the EDP was really Ralph's take on Y by YSL style of fragrance, both flankers took it into a different direction and made it Ralph's own. If you liked parfum but felt it did not have enough depth, I think you will love this.

The dry down is a completely different story to the opening. The opening and mid smells like natural iris not super sweet lipsticky, along with some clean aromatic florals and some soft cardamom. The dry down smells like incense and marshmallows in the most addictive way possible. Definitely for the colder weather. Opening and mid is not crazy good but the dry down is immaculate. Try before you buy and smell dry down before turning this down. I would gatekeep this but i can't be mad if the whole world smelled this good.

I don't understand the comparison to Dior homme original or intense or to Valentino uomo intense. This is not even close to iris based scents. This is very aromatic similar to Ralph club original and parfum. Iris? where? Maybe somewhere in the back a little but not really an iris scent. I like it because I like aromatic fragrances, but I was really expecting something more similar to Dior homme intense and this is not even close. Still testing, but probably not as strong and long-lasting scent. We'll see in time.

This one performs great off my skin I had one spray on my hand for testing and my sister said she could smell it across the room. The beginning starts fresh because of the citrus from the grape fruit and mandarin. Once it dries down it turns into a leather iris scent but this smell closer to Givenchy gentlemen reserve privee with some leather than it does Dior Homme intense. If your trying this in the stores I says give it a chance to dry down first because the opening is quite generic but the dry down is amazing

This one opens up weird and not so well blended. However, wait one hour for it to dry down a little then the magic happens. It becomes resinous, sweet and woody in a good way. I plan to use this one for formal occasions, like the office, work happy hour, conference, but should be mindful of how many sprays I put on. It is more like a formal - professional casual type scent to me. Is it worth it, maybe, I got it discounted heavily by Macy's ($98 vs the original $140) and at the price point, yes it is worth it.

I got this fragrance as a gift and I just love it, she got it for me at a discount which also makes me happy to know 😂 this fragrance is good but I wouldn’t suggest paying full price as it’s not super unique. Its longevity is decent but not what I would equate to an “ELIXIR” formulation. Smooth creamy iris woods and leather with a slight spicy citrus, can’t go wrong with this one. Its office safe and reminds me of laying in a luxury bed with fresh linens for some reason. Would recommend!

Got this fragrance for my 24yo step son for his birthday because I wanted to grab him something that will set him apart from what his friends may be wearing. I will be getting a bottle of this myself because it is a pretty decent fragrance that's smooth, inoffensive, classy fresh spicy feel to it. Fortunately he loves this fragrance and next year I'm going to introduce my step son to something niche so maybe he to can grow to appreciate the world of perfumery like I do.

Tested this since I sorta liked the OG. Starts strong and opens great. Not sure what other reviewers mean by potato smell. To me it smells like leather mixed with powder and some herbs. I liked it from the start, wore it from a tester and now own a full bottle. It is not a strong as sauvage elixir but then again not many perfumes are. I really like this mature and stronger smelling version of Ralph’s club. I think this one is better than the OG and Parfum versions.

Found this at Ross for 50 bucks, a fantastic bargain for what you get. The leather accord persists all the way through wearing it, and I've been able to smell it on jackets over three days after putting it on. This frag is what I would imagine TF Ombre Leather wants to be. Very rugged and masculine but versatile enough for daily wear. Be careful with sprays because this stuff is potent. It can be headache-inducing if worn in warmer weather.

such an amazing fragrance. Smells like Dior Homme intense except incorporate some aromatics along with the iris which give it a clean fresh and mass appealing vibe. I also get a vetiver note here although its not listed which further makes it similar to DH, yet the iris doesn't have that signature Dior lipstick-y feel. the performance is amazing and lasted A WEEK on test strip, and projection is great too.

Found this gem for $39 for the 75ml bottle at TJ Maxx and it's amazing for people that like something different, well blended and with great performance. I don't understand the negative reviews or the poor performance some are getting. I'm more than happy to have this in my collection. 9/10 fragrance. Also glad that it's not like most of the crowd pleasers out there. RL did great with this one!

Excellent flanker that adds even more elegance to Ralphs Club Parfum with the added orris and leather notes. Not as versatile as the EDP or Parfum but perfect for a formal occasion or a date night. Projects well and lasts a long time. Nice alternative to the Dior Homme line or Givenchy Gentleman line (if you like iris / orris) and you can typically find this at discounters for cheap.

The first time I smelt this fragrance it was horrible, I was trying to scrape it off my skin and it was horrible, but gradually over time, this fragrance does grow on you. You do get a LOT of that oris and cardamom, I don't get much of that leather and I wish there was more. A great pickup if you can get it at a discounter. Performance: 9/10 Smell: 7.5/10

The top note of elixer and parfum were identical to me (my nose might have been tired). The bottom notes differed a lot. Elixer turns more like the balsam and resin from pines / fir / cedar wood as if you stuck your nose between the tree bark where the resin is. The parfum smells like you are in the pine forest + lavender all the way.

In my humble opinion, this is the best designer fragrance released in recent years. Soft buttery iris with warm slightly spicy olibanum. It falls into the DHI/VUI family, but it’s different enough to the point where I plan on buying a full bottle despite owning both VUI and DHI. Props to Ralph Lauren for this one. Strong 9/10

For me this is a very good mature fragrance very grown up. I enjoy it a lot for many occasions and when I’m dressed going out with my wife or hanging with the guys in a mature setting (dinner or shooting pool). It’s very different from the EDP, not as playful but very straight to the point business like.

Best office fragrance I own in my collection. Formal but not too formal. Masculine and not in an old school style, extremely well done. I must add this disclaimer - Not youthful in any way, great option for a 30+ that want serious but not boring scent profile. It gets better after a month or two.

Absolutely incredible... The opening is to die for and that dry down is great. It lasts just fine and has a great dry down, the iris they used here was really really nice. Must buy imo. It's a nice fragrance that makes you smell good but like a man.

This stuff is remarkable. I have to admit I do not like the first 5 min of the opening but after that I can’t stop smelling it. I love it and it is and will be in my winter rotation for years to come. I can’t say enough positive things about it.

I loved the first one that came out. And love this one. This one smells like Old Money, Old Books, and Smells Ivy-League. I love this one. I imagine the smell of a library at Harvard. Beautiful scent.

I haven’t had a fragrance so versatile as this, could be worn at day but shines as a evening fragrance. Delicious and sweet enough but sharp and sophisticated. Happy to have it as a signature scent

The haters can hate all they want but this thing pulls compliments like crazy. I’m not a fan of powdery scents but this one is really nice, the performance is almost nuclear on this. 8/10

The best Ralph has put out ever, insane opening, very warm, spicy, I have to have more time with this fragrance, to know how it is, but off a tester, it's insane

I love it. Very very nice fragrance for men. It is such a pleasant scent for the fall and winter time. Cooler weather. Perfect for evening out as gentleman.

Blind bought it off of Ross for $60. Definitely a hidden gem. Still haven't done a full wear, but will try to update when I get to do a full day wear.

I was pleasantly surprised by this fragrance , the Cardamam smells the same as it does in invictus victory elixir.i prefer this to victory elixir

The iconic fragrance, I believe its one of the best releases of Ralph L, beautiful perfume by all means...im speechless Over all 9.5/10

For my nose it opens strong with LEATHER + SPICE not really the profile i tend to generally love... but it did grow on me a little

It can best be described as Polo 67 for the evening and night. It’s really good.

Only problem is the price, I need this for the winter
