Tender Romance

Tender Romance is a truly gorgeous, sweet, cozy, warm, feminine, sensual, enchanting, whimsical, and romantic fragrance! Very well blended and beautifully done! I get mostly sweet and juicy sugary pear with warm and cozy amber, benzoin, and cashmere wood. There’s a touch of florals and musk, but this is so well blended that it’s difficult to pick out individual notes. I absolutely adore it though, it’s such a stunning and unique fragrance. I fell head over heels for this when it first came out. It was love at first sniff! This was my signature fragrance for a couple of years, and under different circumstances it likely still would be. I do have a story that goes with this one though. Before I get into the story I wanted to suggest some fragrances that you might like if you love Tender Romance. I searched like crazy for something similar to it for quite some time. They’re definitely not dupes, but I feel a similarity with these ones... Ralph Lauren Beyond Romance, Marc Jacobs Daisy Love Eau So Sweet, and Marc Jacobs Daisy Love. A few others that are worth checking out are Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, Jessica Simpson Fancy, B&BW Almond Blossom, and B&BW Fresh Vanilla Blossoms So, I still have 2 bottles of this stunning fragrance, but it’s very difficult for me to bring myself to try and wear it again. I never fell out of love with the fragrance itself and I’ve really debated back and forth if maybe I can actually start wearing it again. Like I said, I fell in love with this as soon as it came out. My wonderful fiancé bought it for me as a birthday gift. I wore it every single day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, in September of 2018 my fiancé passed away. I was beyond devastated. I continued to wear Tender Romance for a few months. As I tried to move on with my life I thought maybe finding a new fragrance would help since he had given me Tender Romance and I always related that scent with him. Now that it’s been over 5 years and I still love that scent I’ve been wondering if maybe it’s worth trying to wear again occasionally. I’m honestly not sure how I feel about the whole thing. I know I’ll always miss him, but time changes the sharpness of pain. I guess I’m worried that I’ll feel like I’m going backwards or just asking for more heartache if I try wearing it again. The closest I have come is taking off the cap and smelling the perfume. That’s gotten easier to do over the years considering I wouldn’t even go near it for at least a year after I stopped wearing it. I guess one day I’ll finally decide if I’ll ever wear it again or not. Either way it really is one of the most absolutely gorgeous fragrances I have ever smelled and I really can’t understand why it was discontinued.

I previously reviewed this, but wanted to add an updated one... Gorgeous, sweet, warm, fruity, woody, musky, floral, feminine, romantic, sensual, seductive, charming, whimsical, dreamy, enchanting, chic, luxe, luminous, tempting, addictive, alluring, intriguing, inviting, cozy, comforting On me this opens with a burst of syrupy sweet pear, warm spicy ginger, and bright bergamot, and as it starts drying down the heart of white florals softly joins in. Once it’s dried down the cozy benzoin, sensual cashmere wood, and powdery musk that are intertwined throughout become more prominent, and add a lovely warmth and depth. The notes that are the most prominent on me are the pear, ginger, benzoin, and cashmere wood. Also, the pear is very sweet, think of it sprinkled with brown sugar. Overall, this is such an absolutely stunning fragrance! This has been a long time love of mine, and was actually my signature fragrance for a few years. I stopped wearing it after my fiancé passed away because it was originally a gift from him (that he knew I wanted), so it was just too painful for quite some time. However, I have recently started wearing it again occasionally, and I still absolutely adore it. It obviously carries some bittersweet nostalgia for me, but it’s nice to know that I can enjoy it again at times now. Unfortunately, this has been discontinued for several years now, and if you do happen to find it it’s usually rather expensive. It’s also a rather unique scent, and I don’t know of anything that’s just like it. That’s super disappointing for me, but at least I still have 2 unopened bottles of it, although my current bottle is almost empty. Anyway, I had previously looked into similar fragrances after losing my fiancé because I wanted something close to it, but not the same. I came here to say how much I hate this perfume.. how sickeningly sweet it is and how you'd have to LOVE cheaply made sweet gourmands to appreciate this. Then before writing this, I read some of your reviews. Then saw people said Yes I am smells like it.. well, as this was a tester and I couldn't see myself spraying more just yet, I waited a bit before going to find my bottle of Yes I am to see... well, by now I'm loving Tender Romance, wth just happened? I went to Reddit. That's what. Now I'm grieving cause this is discontinued and Yes I am, though it smells similar, is not nearly as lovely nor as well blended. Not nearly as dream-like. Yes I am smells a little like plastic or something. That Cacheral thing that Amour Amour has. I can't describe it. Anyway, Tender Romance does not have it, it has its own thing, some soft something or other and fades into something magical, taking my mind and heart into some other fantasy dimension where anything, including true love is possible and dreams do come true. (I'm single and happy to be, but slightly jaded by life btw, for some context). So there... let this be a lesson to us, or at least me in the future - GIVE IT TIME. Give it patience... and read what others have to say BEFORE setting in stone my distaste, because I have been mistaken and will be again, I'm sure. I wish for a full bottle of this. One that never empties. Le sigh Edit to add: this has given me a new appreciation for Yes I am, because prior to this I did not like it much. It was a blind buy and I felt aside from the cool bottle, the perfume was just meh. I'd put it away because summer did it no justice at all and took it out recently to try in winter, though I still found myself not enjoying it much. I'll not give up on it, though it's no Tender Romance..

Found this on my mom’s dresser today while wishing her a happy mother’s day and took it on my way out before I knew that it was discontinued (she won’t care.) The bottle’s still full to the brim so I doubt she’s sprayed it more than once or twice in the years that she’s had it. The juice is a deep amber brown color which I imagine may make it a tad more resinous or caramelized than when it was produced. But what sweet, delectable juice it is. First sniff impression is pear, brown sugar, and ginger. The floral notes are easier to catch wafting in a breeze than sniffing up close where its just an amber sugar bomb. The something is coming off a bit paper or plasticky or maybe even waxy, maybe due to age or maybe its a note I’m less family with. Magnolia or white ginger blossom. I’m sure my mom’s had this set for over 5 years now so I’ll have to get good use out of it this spring and summer before it goes off. Great juice though, sort of a happy mix of I Don’t Need A Prince (OG formula) by Killian and Radiant Nectar by Clean. Bright, fresh, crisp, warm, sugary, deep.

This is a very hard perfume to review because It is not very unique. Actually My daughter has baby products that mimic this scent. So its a pretty scent but I really do not think you will miss much. When you spray this you get a huge sweet potent cloud hovering over you for a few seconds. Then pooofff its gone. The scent is pleasant but not something I should have spent my hard earned cash on. I did not get what I thought I would get. Regardless my 3 year old loves it. It is playful, bubblegum, fluffy, and immature. It certainly does disappear as soon as it settles. EDIT: Wearing these masks day in and out must be affecting my sense of smell. So one evening before going out to dinner I decided to spray myself with this tiny tot.... and wow, was I wrong. Yes its playful but not that childish way I described above. It is sexy and somewhat comforting. I don't find it to be cotton candy sweet but rather, sophisticated sweet. Its inviting , sensual and definitely a must if you are still in the dating scene.

I love this so much! It's mainly a sweet, fruity fragrance (but not in a Viva La Juicy or Paris Hilton Can Can way). They say the fruit note is pear, but it can easily creep into peach or strawberry territory. All I smell is this sweet fruit, like some sort of creamy fruity candy, maybe gummies, and the drydown is like vanilla powdered sugar. So dreamy... I'd wear this on a date, but it's a pretty immature scent (and I'm okay with that). It's not sexy, but it's delicious. I don't know about the name...I would't call it overly romantic... maybe playful. I was afraid of the benzoin, but it just comes off as light vanilla. This is inoffensive. Not synthetic at all! Perfect birthday gift for teenagers. My boyfriend says it smells like Play Doh though. Edit: I find this scent unique. I've never smelled anything like it. The drydown does have a bit of a playdohy tinge. If you want to experience more of the ginger, spray it on your clothing. Sprayed on the skin, it becomes cotton candy sweet.

The fact that this was discontinued makes me so, so sad. Tender Romance was an instant love for me - I smelled it in a magazine, rubbed the page on my wrists, and on my way home from work, went to the mall and bought it. I wasn’t allowed to wear fragrances to work, so every day when I got home, I’d immediately spray it on. There’s about a third of the juice left in my travel size spray and I have been rationing it for the past two years, so it’s gotten really dark and concentrated and extra super sweet now. I’ve been on the hunt for something like this fragrance but haven’t found it yet, unfortunately. Resisting the urge to scour the internet for a bottle of it, because there are other perfumes out there and maybe I’ll like something better that’s not discontinued, but man. I shake my fist at thee, Ralph Lauren.

A sales associate had me smell this, and I loved how it smelled on paper. I'm going to go back and test this on my skin. I was pretty amazed at how great this smells, and with me having so many perfumes, I'm trying to be more selective. This one just might make the cut, and if it smells good on my skin, may go to the top of my list of perfumes I know I'll end up with at some point. I ended up getting a 3.4 ounce bottle of this. It's lovely. I was never a Viva La Juicy fan, and to me, this does not smell very similar. I really like this, and I'm hoping I get the same longevity so many on here rave about. I love the musk and the sweetness of this. I'm 48 years old, but don't feel this is too young for me. I think any age could wear this, and in any season. Give it a try next time you are at the perfume counter.

I adore this fragrance. It's very very pretty and romantic. The pear, ginger magnolia and benzoin are the most prominent notes to my nose, especially the pear! After I went through 3 bottles of this, I took a break from it because I wanted to try something new but I sure miss it. Its playful and sweet nature is so addictive and I've gotten numerous compliments for it in the past, from both men and women. I also want to mention that it leaves a light sillage after you wherever you go that's hard to miss by the people around you- it's not a monstrous fragrance but it is powerful enough to get noticed. Longevity is about 8 hours I'd say. Perfect for more casual wear, dates or a signature scent. Honestly this is a hidden gem and I highly recommend for you to check it out.

On paper this is way too sweet for me. But on my skin, what I adore about it is the musk. It is sweetened by the benzoin and light florals but it's much less sweet than on paper. There is little to no woodiness on me nor do I get much ginger though it may add a touch of "roughness" in a good way, to the florals in the background. I do also get some pear but it's not a typical celebrity fruity frag. I think this is much more well made than what others have referenced so far (Pink Sugar, Nicki Minaj, Jessica Simpson, etc). It is more dense and seems to have more high quality ingredients to me. It most certainly lasts longer. It's richer and less airy, there is no cheap or harsh quality to it. I sprayed it on my wrist at noon and it's still going strong at 6:30.

I got this when I was finally leaning off body spray and wanting a real perfume. I blind bought it, when I first sprayed it my 16 yr old immature nose didn’t like it (the same one that thought La nuit tresor smelled like baby powder....yeah) and I ended up returning it; I don’t regret that I did because it led me to buy Burberry her, which then led me to BR540 now. But now that I’ve gotten a lot more into perfume I kept thinking about this one, like a lot. I missed it and I did a lovely swap to have it again and it’s perfect. Sweet, spicy, warm and comforting. Almost everything I look for now in a perfume. I’m so sad this is discontinued, a horrible mistake. I’m basically collecting these bottles now because I always want to have it in my collection.

This feels along the lines of Hypnotic poison to me. I'm not saying they smell the same but that they share a commonality. If Hypnotic Poison's statement was; come hither to me, let me seduce you and drive you wild for the night, then Tender Romance's statement would be let me hold you in my arms and love you as I have many times before. The similarity is in that they both have a very heady and sweet, yet woody Vanillic note that makes me feel like they would be a perfect signiture pair with one being your lighter, more innocent day time scent and the other being your night time scent.

I went out with a girl last weekend. We met at a little Italian restaurant and as we were walking in I stopped her to ask what fragrance she had on because it was so gorgeous. And this was it. Ladies I'm not sure how this hits your nose but seriously as a guy this is amazing juice. Absolutely made me think of being "close" to her. It's a very seductive fragrance, very sexy, not at all over powering. If I had one complaint it's that it doesn't last very long. By the end of our evening it was nearly a memory. Yet a memory I care to take with me and cherish. 9/10

Tender Romance is perfect to me. It's a warm pear cobbler with vanilla ice cream kind of scent. It's smooth and while not explicitly gourmand, is so delicious. You get some yummy notes in the top with the pear and ginger, then the creamy florals make themselves known, and then the fireworks--the most beautiful and rich dry down ever. It's amber-y, vanilla-y, and just so cozy. In cool weather, this is an obvious choice, but even in warm weather, there's something so fresh and cool about it. I'm just so upset that this is discontinued.

I found a 5.1 oz bottle of this for 50$ on FB marketplace. I am literally obsessed and over the moon. Genuinely grail find, I've been looking for a big ass bottle of this that wouldn't break the bank for EVER. Such a lovely cozy, cashmere vanilla scent. The magnolia and pear comes through on me too as well as the jasmine. I love it, it's like being in a blanket and its snowing outside and you're like a rich blonde lady with her beautiful rich spouse watching tv on the couch with hot cocoa (with Baileys in it)

I dislike the original romance to no end I think it smells like synthetic roses and never understood the hype for it but this tender romance is so lovely. I smell vanilla in this but it is not a listed note. It is really creamy and it sells really well at dillards. The magnolia is really light and I do smell the pear, almost like a caramel drenched pear. This has moved up my list of favorite perfumes. It is well liked and is easy to wear. Don't much care for ralph fragrances but this one has won my heart

I would never have tried this on my own, but Sephora sent it as a free sample so I spritzed some on. To my surprise, I really like it. It's sweet and creamy. It reminds me a little bit of Viva La Juicy, but less floral and softer. It's sort of a cross between Viva La Juicy, Flowerbomb and Meow! by Katy Perry. I smell lots of vanilla, pear, magnolia and jasmine. The cashmere wood and benzoin combine to give it a hint of creamy, smooth woodiness as well. Not very unique, but charming for the sweet lovers.

I got a sample of this and I find it amazing! To me it smells like sweet vanilla with some soft spicy notes. It's not a complicated scent, neither is it something unique. But it's just a nice, "safe" perfume for a summer evening (though I think it suits really for all seasons). A huge pluspoint for this is that it is rich, there are other notes which I can't identify but they give it the necessary depth (which, for example, the ultrapopular "La vie est belle" lacks). It smells natural, not synthetic.

I tested this today and its very beautiful! This is a sweet floral to my nose. I get a little fruity pear upon first spray but it quickly turns into a magnolia/cashmere/vanilla on my skin. I really like it as a soft vanilla fragrance that is NOT foody at all. Its floral and soft. This stays very close to the skin and I think it would be great for all times of the year. This is definitely not unique..there are many similar fragrances like this one on the market, but it really is quite lovely!

I too noticed the ginger note in this. I just love this perfume! I think it's rather unique smelling, and I don't find it to smell much like Viva La Juicy at all(which I never was a huge fan of). Among my large perfume collection, it's pretty amazing that I find this unique. Also, it lasts a long time on me, and that rarely happens on my skin. I'm so glad I bit the bullet and bought this. Well worth the money, and glad I have the large 3.4 ounce size. Lovely, classy bottle too.

I love this scent!! It's just such a warm and romantic scent, makes you want to cuddle up with someone. It is very well named. I get a sense of woody mixed with sweetness. Such a good combo of notes, I think the pear is the most prominent at first. I just wish it was slightly less sweet and a bit more musky or spicy, then it would be perfect. But this is still one of my favorite scents, I highly recommend it :3

Pink Bazooka Bubble Gum and a sweet fruity scent comes running at me as the top notes. I smell no ginger as much as I want to smell it and I keep fresh ginger in my kitchen! The middle notes are green and citrusy. Very sexy, playful and attractive. majed me want to add this to my collection. A day into night fragrance that gives carefree, never taking herself too seriously kind of woman. I love it.

I just received a sample of this today from Sephora, and I am LOVING it! When I smelled it from the bottle, I thought it smelled like cough medicine, but when I sprayed it on myself, holy cow is it beautiful! It's a sweet, soft, and all-around yummy scent, unlike anything I have tried before. This is definitely a sweet-smelling perfume, so if you like sweet smelling perfumes, you will love this!!

A sweet amber cashmere day dream. The fact that this has been discontinued and increasingly hard to get is breaking my heart. I have gone through bottles of this and have 2 back ups right now. Ralph Lauren, you need to explain yourself and either bring this back or revamp it into something similar. Bury me with my bottles. (Dramatic, I know, but I really love this fragrance)

Love it! At first sniff I thought "oh no another sugar bomb" but no. It is absolutely wonderful. As it develops of course you get the sweetness but there's a little more going on and it's so soft and dreamy with the florals coming out and some soft woodsy light musk . Has great lasting power too. Nothing at all related to original Romance but I may try layering.

So sad that this perfume has been discontinued - I loved this one! For anyone looking for a similar perfume, Cacharel Yes I Am is almost exactly the same. Yes I Am Pink First is also very similar to Tender Romance. I can’t detect much of a difference between this one and the original Yes I Am, but I think the original smells more like Tender Romance.

i am confident in saying this will forever be my favorite perfume. it’s been my signature scent for years, i was so sad when it got discontinued! it really is such a tender, romantic and cozy perfume. if you’re able to get your hands on it i highly recommend trying this one out, it’s such a compliment getter and so beautiful

Tender Romance opens with a lot of zing. Lots of spicy ginger with bergamot and sweet pear. Then the lush florals take over followed by a warm and sensual base of soft musky woods and benzoin. Very different from the original and by far my favorite of the Romance line. This is fast becoming a love for me.

Now this is truly special and unique. Beautiful peach notes very gentle with long staying power. It's an incredible original scent. This is a high end summer fragrance all the way. Got this in a sample and had to buy it shortly after. This will be a lifetime favorite for sure.

To all of you reading the review below mine and thinking Burberry Goddess might take the place of Tender Romance: it doesn't. It can't. They smell NOTHING alike. Not even close. BG is really good in it's own right, but it's completely different than TR.

At first this scent is very very sweet. Over time it really softens up. My only issue is that I can't smell it well on myself unless I am trying. I really love sweet scents. I bought the largest bottle of this. I really love the dry down.

Easy, sweet, dreamy. Warm vanilla musk with hints of amber and pear. Soft and lovely. I don’t reach for her often but it’s a comfortable and comforting fragrance. Sexy in a romantic and familiar way. Not the best but not the worst.

I just received this from my mother as the supper small size from a trio pack, as she did not like it. I am so so bummed that its no longer being made as I have fallen head over heels in love with this scent.

they discontinued this one, I'm kinda let down by that decision but if you like this I would give beyond romance a try since they are kinda similar.

At first, I was so in love with Tender Romance because it is different than other fragrances I have worn. Then I thought, "This isn’t romantic, it’s a quiet musk that is kind of a one-note soapy mess." Yet I continued to wear it and found that Tender Romance is a simple yet sensual fragrance. I don’t smell the pear or florals in this gorgeous perfume. At first, I do smell the citrus but that quickly turns into a rich vanilla which is very beautiful. Unfortunately, it turns soapy on me about 30 minutes in. This stage is quite unappealing, but when I asked family members about the smell they said it didn’t smell soapy to them. So I will say this must be my body chemistry and nose that is picking up a soap vibe so I will not hold that against the perfume. Once Tender Romance hits the dry down I smell an earthy richness of musk and the sweetness of benzoin, which I so love. From start to finish, Tender Romance lasts about two hours, which isn’t even the length of a good date. So if you want to continue to smell this rich, beautiful, sensual scent throughout the day or on a date, you are going to have to reapply. Tender Romance changed my idea of what a romantic fragrance should smell like. While I felt that something with this name should smell more vivacious and bubbly, showing the excitement of a new budding romance, it is nothing like that. Instead, Tender Romance projects a quiet sophistication that says I’m comfortable with who I am. Will you accept me for me?

Perfect for spring! It’s a soft floral with a hint of ginger showing up. it’s a close to skin scent on me. It’s fresh floral not heavy floral. Don’t know what longevity is at this point, will post later. Too bad this is discontinued but I did find it for a somewhat good price. Hurry because I think this is a winner and get it before it disappears like some others I won’t mention. Longevity is very good I would say up to 5 to 6 hours but it does soften and sits super close to skin

Just won a bid & purchased this. Was I a little disappointed? Yup. Because this smells like many other sweet perfumes I already own. Smells like "simply pink" the most... Lasts about 7 hours. A sweet bomb for sure, and I'm the type of person who doesn't consider Prada's Candy too sweet so just imagine. --Mostly benzoin, no pear, musk or floral-- Original romance is still the best perfume on earth to me. No other romance wins; especially not this one.

I recently got my hands on a bottle from 2016, the year it was released. It was a blind buy, but im glad I took that chance. Its well blended, and the pear or ginger dont outshine the other notes. Its a relatively safe designer profile, nothing outside of the box, but its still lovely and would be mass appealing. Ill be sad when this is gone in the future. I doubt ill be able to replace it.

I love the way this smells on everything BUT my skin. If your skin works with it, I would wholly recommend it. For me, it starts to smell like body odor and cumin (yes, unfortunately it came from the perfume and not from me). In the bottle, it smells a bit sweeter and fruitier than it does on my skin. So be cognizant of that if you plan to buy it because of the cap scent or a tester strip.

This was the first perfume my boyfriend bought for me and he loves the way it smells on me. I love the cashmere scent that it leaves at dry down on my skin. Reminds me of when I wore Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan. The scent lasts all day on me and it is soft which makes it a great scent for work. As I continue to explore and try new perfumes, this remains as one of my top 5 favorites.

I like this one a lot. I'm surprised there is no caramel or vanilla listed because it sure seems like there should be. If you like Cacharel Yes I Am or JC Gold Couture, this will be an easy like for you, though it's a bit more grown up than the latter. It's sweet, warm and cozy. It projects modestly so I think it's fine in summer and in scent free places. Very nice.

Wow, I love this scent! I haven't been particularly impressed with the other Romances, but this one charmed me. It's sweet, but not sickly. The ginger blooms on me and makes it more zingy and fresh. I received a handful of compliments, and on my first time wearing it, too! Definitely putting this on my want list :) *** sillage: moderate longevity: moderate

Very nice in the beginning; candy sweet from the benzoine (a dirty vanillic scent), fruity freshness from the Pear and a little spicy from the ginger. However this only lasts for about 2hrs then it dries down to a subtle skin scent that is just woody, on my skin. I love the scent I get from it when I sniff the bottle but I can not recommended buying this.

Tender romance embodies the typical idea of Ralph Lauren. Clean cut, polished, restrained with a understated elegance. The pear is noticeable and the flowers smell to me like honeysuckle than jasmine or magnolia. I also smell vanilla. According to RL, Tender Romance is a 'fresh oriental', although to me it smells like a bland oriental.

Its gorgeous, if you can handle the sugar. Probably one of the sweetest perfumes I've smelled, only rivaled by Made in Heaven. This smells like condensed milk and cookies. I love benzoin so this is an automatic thumbs up from me, but I don't know if I want to wear it constantly, maybe for special occasions like at Christmas time.

Everything about this is soft & sweet, like falling in love. No sharp notes, just spicy ginger, fresh pear & soft magnolia. I agree with the ginger ale comment; this is like a lighter, more wearable relation of Dior's Hypnotic Poison (root beer). This is my daytime inoffensive "I feel pretty" scent.

Super tropical air freshener... That being said, it's not too pungy or offensive. A nice breezy beach scent. I'm disappointed as it has nothing in common with the original Romance, but it's an okay modern scent.

Reminds me of pink starburst in a bottle. Does smell similar to Juicy Couture but the notes don't end as smoothly as Juicy couture. Not a bad buy .

For me this is pink bubble gum in a bottle. Maybe it ́s the syntetic pear. Sweet and different. Must try this again though.

Spray original romance, let it dry done and then spray Burberry Brit on top and you have Romance Tender
