Waidmanns Heil Intense

Old school chypre made without, according to the not tree, typical chypre notes. It has a classic masculine vibe but updated with a Rammstein edge. I'm surprised galbanum isn't listed in the notes because my nose is convinced its there. I have a great love for the craftsmanship of many of the fragrances of yore, and this one scratches a similar itch for me, but manages to form its own identity. Resins, prickly spices, conifers, and aromatics round it out. Potent performance but not beast mode. Needs a wearer with a strong personality and good sense of style. I wasn't sure if I could wear it at first, but after several months I revisited it and have completely come around. If you're a sophisticated collector who loves exploring chypre-style fragrances from the past, you'll probably love this. This is a worthy reinterpretation of the classics.

This perfume is actually a lot more frankincense heavy than I expected, which I really like. When you first spray it you can really smell the ylang-ylang, cloves and jasmine, and perhaps a bit of pepper. After it's settled onto the skin and dried down, the frankincense really is the main note, followed by the pepper and vetiver. To my nose the floral scents really fade in it, and become a background note. The leather in it is noticeable too. I can't smell much fir. The longevity is moderate, it lasts about 4-5 hours, and same with the sillage - moderate. This definitely is unisex in my opinion, I don't see where people are getting it being a more male fragrance from. This is probably my second favourite Rammstein scent out of the three I've tried so far. A solid 3.8/5 from me.

strong and kind of strange, almost reminiscent of pickles, somehow not in a bad way. it softens out and the florals rise to the surface. i wore this over the summer and it was not rare that it was mistaken by others for bug spray, which i can see. i prefer the original, but this isn't bad at all

Rammstein does... an old school chypre oriental? Sure, why not. It doesn't show in the notes but either it's just not listed or something is creating the accord of your classic big galbanum blast underscored with leather and some spices floating throughout. Not bad at all, but know what you're getting into. It's vintage-y.
