Bravo

First wearing of Ramon Monegal Bravo, my first try of this house that I was not aware of until recently, a lovely spicy, woody, resinous, smoky, leathery blend with a very interesting variety of specific notes that give it some color, depth, and intrigue. The note listings seem to vary a lot by source, but in addition to the broad categorization above, I do get bits of sweet and floral notes throughout, though the fragrance largely takes on a darker tone, a bit more cold-weather / evening-leaning, albeit with a good. By my own estimation, the key notes involved are leather, oud, pine, clove, strawberry, with a sprinkling of florals and citruses. It’s something that I could see myself wearing plenty in the cooler weather, a bit of the pine/strawberry of Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache meeting the leathery spiciness of Zaharoff Signature Leather Tabac, probably a little milder in performance than either example, but still a very good performer and high-quality, to me. Currently the retail pricing for the brand is $245 for 50ml in Neiman Marcus but it’s a little cheaper at Max Aroma and cheaper still at FragranceNet. I’m not sure there’s uniform pricing, and the images of the bottle seem to vary between Neiman Marcus and the other two sources, so the bottle design likely recently underwent some change, but both version look quite nice. 8 out of 10

PLEASE add the reformulated version that has less of the fruity notes, and more wood. The new formulation will get a bad rep because this website only has the previous, worse one! Top: Grapefruit, Strawberry, Pine Needle Mid: Rose, Jasmine, Clove Base: Oud, Smoke, Amberwood I don't think I've smelled a fragrance quite like this before. It is very serious and dark while still managing to be sort of playful. The quality of the ingredients is unreal, and it projects like a beast. It reminds most of a bonfire, with some floral, fruity elements that stay in the background. Most you get from this are the base notes, and the rose-clove-pine combo. This is a masterpiece, and definitely going to be my go-to date perfume.

Yeah, this one is special. The reviews below don't lie. "Existentially brave" is correct, and my favorite line down there. Probably polarizing, which is where the magic happens. By the way, the presentation and packaging are unreal. Jus' sayin'. Quite great.

My first contact with Bravo was not a good one. I really disliked it. The fruity notes ruined the beautiful leather in this fragrance. That apricot note... uggh! A scrubber. I was happy I only had an official sample. My second try with Bravo was completely different. I really don't know what happened, but at first, the apricot note ruined the experience for me... but then, after resisting the urge to scrub my arms again... something happened with time... maybe the notes melded better, maybe the base notes became more noticeable, but this has turned into an incredibly nice leather scent. Very nice. I'm not completely in love with it, but I can see, as someone else wrote in their review, this is polarizing. I'm glad I let it evolve. I like it. Bravo transforms from top, to mid, to base notes, and the final experience quite nice. Not everyone is going to like Bravo, but it deserves to be tried.

I completely agree with Klemens. This scent actually smells better than what is pictured on the chart. It's a somehow interesting composition revolving around a gigantic pine needle ( almost a spike ) very pungent. In the opening I can detect berries (the fruity part is here used to add acidity) thrown into a gallon of pine balsam floating in a wavy rhythm and swinging with cloves and rose in the heart (which turns its sharpness down a little). Dry-down is very nice !!!!Everything is going back to square one only with a smokier a sharper tone of balsam. I definitely get a spiky acid elects (cinnamon..ish)

First impression: Chicken soup served in a brand new leather plate... I am sitting stupefied. Smoked salmon joined. Helichrysum italicum? I do not think it's for women, then? But something marine breeze, fresh and spacious joins. A fisherman might smell like this after a day on the sea. A young one, fit and mischievous.. and was he smoking a cigar?

A leathery, musky fragrance. The musk seems most dominant and the combo is ok but not great. Low-mod longevity and sillage. On drydown the musk stays at the expense of the leather. Tried this as a sample and won't be buying a full bottle, I have others that are similar.

Hold on to your hat for this one... Bravo from Ramon Monegal’s Spanish Collection is existentially brave. It’s so niche and conceptual, I’m not sure I’m ready to surrender to such a fearless, macho and transcendent scent. It starts off with a death-defying smoky clove with burning rubber (like the scent used in a 4DX cinema screen when something is on fire). It quickly calms into a more powdery, smoky, clove centred, cemetery scent. Initially, I get none of the suggested fruits, but much later-on, the sweet strawberry romantically balances out Bravo’s smoking carcass and dark heart. It’s this strawberry stage which reminds me of Rasasi’s ‘Dhan Al Oudh Al Nokhba’. Throughout, I’m left longing for the jasmine to make an appearance to sprinkle white brilliance upon this smouldering mass of fumigation - but alas, it stays hiding in the smoky darkness.The dry-down reminds me of ‘Blue Sapphire’ by Boadicea the Victorious, then the final fade-away dry-down has something reminiscent of Amouage ‘Lyric’ woman (of all things). What a fragrance chameleon! ‘Bravo’ is a marvel, created Ramon Monegal’s dark magic wizardry. It’s an ode to virtuosity, courage and power. His was inspired by the origins of perfume - when it was first created through aromatic smoke. Imagine burning agarwood, cedar and fir (including the pine needles). Monegal describes ‘Bravo’ as, “A chord enriched with rose petals and seasoned with white jasmine flowers, like in a classic hookah, with the combined flavour of cassis, strawberry and apricot. There is a trace of Spanish leather at the heart of the perfume, tanned with clove, cinnamon and artemisia so that it settles in the skin to give a pleasurable experience of the nobility of amber, the firmness of oakmoss and the sensuality of musk.” If you love those niche scents which are audacious, smoky and outside-of-the-box, then ‘Bravo’ is the dark art you seek. I al sorry but i have to say that... I really dont like It! I give a 6 because It has good quality of ingredients and some originality but in general is not my cup of tea. I have bought the Discovery set with 7 fragances and in It i LOVE 6 but not this one... At the opening i feel a very strong wood note, very harsh and even a bit like eucalyptus, but the three not the Candys. After that It gets a very intense smoky vibe. This is like a firebone done with burnt eucaliptos. Insupise that It has his public but for me is something difficult to wear... Nice as olfactive experience but not to wear on me... Sticky smoky pine sap and a dentist office/creosote. You’re getting your teeth pulled while your Christmas tree is on fire. Not a relaxing mood at all.

Sweet BBQ grilling smoke. It has the same grilling BBQ smoke that you can find in "Interlude Man" by Amouage BUT on first spray, splash, top note, then aftger 5 minutes in it slowly fades away and the oakmoss, cypress, cedar, & the cloves rises abit while the strawberry, sweet artemisia, & cassis goes strong. I don't sense any leather here rather than smoke but when it calms down it goes slightly rough leather with hints of sweet roses. This blend has several layers and a dramatic transformation from top, to mid, to base note. It's rough yes but turns mildly rough as it calms down. Cute.

This perfume surprised me a lot. The opening is very reminiscent of Beaufort's 1805 Tonnerre. It has less citric notes than Tonnerre, however, it is the smoky part that those two share. Bravo is more refined and polished. Absolutely beautiful! Of course, this is not a blind buy. I would highly encourage testing. One must have a very acquired taste to like this. For some, the initial smoke, which turns into a beautiful leather resting on a bed of velvety fruits, might be off-putting. The projection is good for the first couple of hours. However, the overall experience is very enjoyable!

Amazing mixture, start with very intensive Apricot scent then moved to the leathery side. Although Apricot is a leatheric smell but the leather here is much more unique. I felt a little burnt wood and sandal. The rose almost not there. I blindly bought after I smelled an empty tester bottle and discovered it later on at home. Fragrance 9 of 10 Sillage 8 of 10 Longevity 8 of The fragrance is fantastic for strange leather fragrance lovers, I would wear it all time but it is better on cold nights. It is unisex and can be worn by men and women. Cheers. ❤️

I all I have to say is that it reminds me of Ribena syrup, it is super sweet, super fruity ans super concentrared. To this add a chargrilled note of cade essential oil (?) and BRAVO there you have it. :-D Although I do enjoy perfumes with heavy trail, I am very uncomfortable wearing this. It is chocking me and it is very persistent, so I honestly like its structure but dont enjoy its aromatic profile. If anyone wants to buy it, i have a 50ml bottle

This is a high quality affair of fruity notes and musk thankfully the leather takes a backseat as does the cassis(no hint of cat piss).This is similar to Chopard Musk Malaki just all dressed up...male leaning unisex really appealing to me.

Campfire intense, no fruits. Personally would warm it up even more and pair it with the Alchemyst Garden Midnight Stroll, or even further with all types of woody Vetivers.

Ashes in blackcurrant juice. Quite a couple, really. More than a few things in common. Better than it sounds. Much more leathery and straight-forward in later stages.

At £49.99 on cosmetify, this is an absolute steal right now!! A gorgeous fruity leather combo suited to colder weather, smooth and well blended by RM 👏

Pungent and too smoky. Unwearable, in my opinion.
