Matador

On my first wear of this fragrance, I want to preface my review with the fact I am trying this in high heat and humidity (Rome in June). The fragrance opens with sweet pear, a little bit of insence and a whole lot of coconut, joined by creamy sandalwood in the dry down. Leather and a lot of the other notes I was looking forward to are non existent on my skin. Having said that, this is the creamiest, most beautiful tropical (the passion fruit has a supporting role and is not artificial) non spf smelling summer fragrance I have sampled lately. This has just knocked Pantheon Roma’s H out of my rotation and will be brought on every holiday this summer. It’s not a beast- it’s a light, beautiful fragrance, but it is not non existent after a solid 6 hour wear in the heat- I can still detect it in a soft bubble around me. It’s a love.

I’ve never been more obsessed with a perfume before. This is absolutely unique, carnal, sensual, sexual, almost sinful. I can’t stop wearing it and sniffing my own skin. I just wish it was “louder” and lasted longer on my skin.

Pafory Advent Calendar 2025 – Day 23 First impression: wow. This is very good. Bold, expressive, instantly skin-grabbing. Also worth saying upfront - the Fragrantica note breakdown doesn’t match either the brand info or what my nose is getting. Officially, it opens with rosewood, incense, and cumin. On first contact, though, I get something unexpected: a fleeting floral softness, almost tropical, with a hint of coconut and ghostly blossoms that appear and disappear within minutes. Very quickly, the scent clarifies. On skin, it becomes cumin-forward - warm, human - threaded through smooth, polished rosewood, with incense hovering quietly rather than announcing itself. Interestingly, in the air around me, it reads powdery, softly sweet, and floral. On my wrist? Dry spice and wood. Intimate and polished. The heart is beautifully handled. Jasmine, magnolia, and rose come together effortlessly. The rose isn’t loud or dated - no “old rose” here - but smooth, almost gourmand-leaning, cushioned by powdery magnolia and luminous jasmine. Refined, modern, and effortlessly wearable. A softness you choose to reveal. The base settles into creamy sandalwood and coconut wrapped in clean musk. Skin-like, comforting, quietly sensual. And despite what some suggest, there’s no leather here for me. Just warmth, creaminess, and the trace of something once close. Confident. Tactile. Intimate.
