The New Paradise

I like the opening. The first 10-15 minutes we’re promising with a strong fig and citrus composition. Soon after, everything went south; oak moss is amped up with a bunch of undefinable notes, and this perfume ends up feeling clumsy. I think some quality synthetics we’re used, but New Paradise is not mixed well. New Paradise ended up feeling like the inside of a Pottery Barn, with the sales clerks burning several different scented candles simultaneously. Haphazardly, the scents mingle and you think to yourself, I need to get out of here.

This is one of those perfumes where you can see that the idea in the perfumer's mind was good, but the execution didn't fulfill the brief. The initial notes of creamy fig and lily of the valley at first seem promising, a bit dewy, mossy, fresh, but then it all goes wrong in seconds-- too sweet, indolic in a bad way, almost nauseating on my skin. It's just too much, a good idea that went too far and impaled itself.

This citrus opening is what it makes it a dislike for me. It smells like cheap cleaning products and I almost can’t get passed that. Get no fern whatsoever. The fig is what somehow saves it for me, I hope the drydown is as promising as the notes. I do like rose and white flowers. So far, not good. The citrus really ruines it. Still

Allot of figs with oakmoss. It's like a bitter sweet herbal blend. The figs conquers from top to drydown, while the lily of the valley appears on the drydown besides the oakmoss. The red roses are powered up to lightens the sweetness of the figs with it's peppery effect but just can't conquer the blend. It has some similarity with "Pure Mariposa" but more sweet and more figgy. Fair.

Not Good. Smells cheap and jumbled. Rating 4/10
