I tested this sample on myself before giving it to my husband and I find it to be so beautiful and glorious I have decided to keep it for myself! Francois Charles is such a rounded, beautiful scent that seems to release every note in it's composition so very elegantly. The basil, neroli, and cedar, oh my! Earthy loveliness. I really find this a treat for my senses. The fact that I adore the forest and my herb garden is one of the reasons I find this scent so enchanting. The description listed above - "harmony of scents which graciously replace one another" couldn't be more correct! Truly a beautiful find! And most beautiful for a woman also! Now I just need to figure out how I can afford to buy a bottle.......

This is better than these reviews give it credit for imo. It starts fresh and bold, settles a little sweeter, then sits softly but confidently. It is strong and last for as long as you’d expect for the price. It is not groundbreaking but it is a nice take on a popular genre. It’s perhaps like hearing a quality remix of a familiar song. I imagine it’s how others will interpret it as well when smelling it on you.

This is a good scent but its almost identical to Le male by Jean Paul Gaultier. The only difference is the basil and lavendar in Rance which compensates for the mint in Le male. Rance has a bit if a sweeter dry down than Le male, almost like a cotton candy or bubble gum effect. If you like Jean Paul Gaultier then you'll like this one. Advice to the wear. This could be an all day scent. You could wear it year round all season long. I would recommend wearing this in the spring or summer, during the warmer months or warmer climates. *Longevity 6/10 - This scent doesnt last too long 6 hours *Projection 7/10 - The sweetness really makes some noise in the beginning but once it drys down it becomes more of a skin scent *Warmer months and or climates

I believe some of the review’s do not do this perfume any justice. I’ve owned 2 bottles now and can say I'm definitely a fan. It starts of sweet/ floral and after a few hours you get a more powdery/ citrus scent. The biggest down fall for me us the performance of the perfume – I only get 3 hours. It is also definitely more for the warmer months. Fragrance 8.5/10 Performance: 6.5/10 Versatility: 8.5/10

For what it is, it just felt too synthetic for my taste and the price. Otherwise is a fine scent with bergamot and ginger notes. It's a decent woody fragrance however wouldn't be my first choice at all, and would rather get something the likes of Terre D'Hermes / Hermes intense vetiver.

The fragrance starts off strong with herbs, and then smells like baby powder. I very expensive baby powder! I also think this is a uni sex scent.

For its price i dont really think it is worth it its performance is not so good just average same for the silage northing speacial but its brand

It seems I am in the minority on this one. I really disliked this. Wore it from a decant, and all I smell is highly synthetic 90s/early 2000s generic designer fragrance. There is no way any of this composition has a root in historic fragrances Rance did way back in the late 1700s and 1800s. It feels so modern that this COULD work on a teenager. It certainly has that vibe. But for that, it is too expensive. If you are willing to drop Rance (at retail) money, there are so many better options that are not as synthetic smelling, IMO. I have disliked the entire Imperiale line that I have had a chance to try. Not that they are "bad" fragrances btw. Just that they are all different expressions of 90s designer fragrance, while pretending to be some sort of release true to its historic roots.

I got this as a sample from scent trunk ! But am pretty disappointed its definitely unisex and i would say more feminine its very powdery and as a 21 year old male this just doesnt drop panties, it more or less smells like middle age womens panties, a pass for me.

Good luck trying to determine individual notes. Here's your chance to feel confident and proud everytime you walk into someone's office. You won't offend anyone as the volume is muted on this kaleidoscopic note lineup. 1795 represents a time when florals were a prerequisite for a man’s fragrance. This multi-dimensional elixir combines spicy, citrus and floral accords for a floraly-charged perfume that’s both refreshing and assenting. Top notes of tart lemon, citrus lime, sparkling bergamot and spicy cardamom open the scent with an exhilarating burst of energy and zest. Middle notes of soft lemony rose, night-blooming jasmine, spicy sage and warm cinnamon add a decadent floral accord that’s quintessential for something in this era. Finally, base notes of iris, cedar, caramel and patchouli round out the savory part of the fragrance for a charming and masculine outcome that’s suitable for everyday wear. Overall, this is so-so. I'm afraid these type of offerings tend to be expendable in this modern era of fragrance production. When the notes click, 1795 sings to your soul, but too often this adaptation feels hamstrung by its commitment to its historic origins.

This fragrance starts out very citrusy(neroli)floral and fresh herbal leafy basil. It's sweet, fresh, and strong. It's kinda uncommon, i think. Then it becomes very mildly spiced but remain herbal with a tiny bit of neroli and jasmine. The base is typical for Rance, at least for my skin, with its ambery musky character with a slight powdery feel. Woody note doesn't shine here at all. It's hard to categorize this fragrance. Francois Charles is a pretty fragrance for men. It's sweet and quite floral with really musky base. It's long lasting and high quality. Be sure to check it out if you come across one. It's quite different from the norm.

Wearing my sample last night, I was instantly brought back to a decant I've finished months ago: Zegna Intenso Limited Edition. Similarly sweet fruity with cardamom, iris, vetiver, cedar, vanilla, amber, musk. Basically a variation of each other. The sample vial in the candy wrapper costs only a dollar.

This smells a lot like Joop! The volume is fortunately turned way down. It's a bad time to be cornered in a dark alley by Joop! but this would probably be OK. Nevertheless, that's what it smells like. And I'm not about that. Flashbacks to Joop! give me PTSD.

This is definitely a fougere fragrance. I can smell bergamot, powdery notes and bitter green notes. It is in the same category as MDCI Invasion Barbare and Dunhill Icon.
