Ambre Loup

Musc Moschus is my favorite fragrance of all time, so I just had to try Rania's star fragrance: Ambre Loup. Keep in mind I'm not an amber/spicy fan. I mostly love clean and pretty scents. But wow, is this absolutely gorgeous! So rich, voluminous, alive, warm, complex, luxurious and perfectly balanced. The spiciness softly floats and brushes my skin. Too often spices grab me by the throat... Even the smokiness here manages to be soft and rich. Just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess to round out something that could easily go bitter and dry. Zero percent skanky/barnyard to my nose. If there's an animalic faucet here, it blends in to not be perceptible through other notes. And yes, the scent does improve as it dries down. Although the opening is already good and balanced IMO! I've not tried very many amber/ouds (as I find them unwearable), but I most closely relate this to Oud Monarch by Bortnikoff. Oud Monarch is like a pungent, stingy, dry and overwhelming version of this to my nose. I don't get the amazing ratings it has. But I definitely understand why this is a holy grail for some people. There's also a similarity to the base of Layton by PdM. Velvety-mineral-powdery vanilla feel, probably from prominent Iso-E Super + guaiac wood + vanilla. I don't even get a headache from this, despite most smoky fragrances irritating my migraines to some degree. Unlike the hazardous smoke in some dark fragrances, this is the most comforting and beautiful velvety smoke. I sprayed a paper strip with my sample when I first got it. I could smell the paper 2 meters away 4 hours later. That one tiny spray managed to project off cold paper for hours. So I don't know if I've received something else than the people who are complaining about performance, but I definitely can't complain! I do go somewhat nose-blind during skin wear though. This isn't as robust/pungent/overwhelming as you might expect. The juice is darker than any fragrance I've ever sampled before. This is something I'll wear after showering in the evening, just laying on the bed sniffing my arm. Beautiful.

Ambre Loup (tested from 1ml sprayer ordered directly from official website) This is one of the most amazing and ethereal ambers I have ever tried. I fell in love with the labdanum. I recognize the labdanum on my skin right off the bat, I love it! It is so warm and seductive. It starts off with heavy spices-nutmeg and cinnamon. The amber, the star, gradually makes its presence known, it is so sensual with the dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg. The shimmery labdanum absolute comes though after a few minutes, it is so dark, sticky, thick. The labdanum is underneath the amber. The amber is the note I sense the most overall. I also sense a delicious, rich tobacco accord. This is my favorite part about Ambre Loup, the tobacco although the note isn't listed in the pyramid! The dark vanilla comes through and blends with the amber, cinnamon beautifully. There is a dryness/dustiness feel to the scent. I am pleased that the agarwood is soft, smooth on my skin, I think that it protects the scent from being too syrupy sweet and too powdery. The agarwood adds a medicinal edge to the overall scent. The presence of the labdanum lingers. I am so in love with the Middle Eastern feel in Ambre Loup, it feels like I am in a spice market in Morocco. Im impressed with the longevity especially in the hot, stifling weather. The sillage is amazing, I could smell it arms length for a few hours then it becomes a skin scent, I still could smell with my nose to my wrist. Out of all of the beautiful samples from Rania J, Ambre Loup and Oud Assam are full bottle worthy for me. Tom Ford - Amber Absolute , you have met your match. It's only a matter of time until people smell this that like or liked Amber absolute , the longevity and projection are great this is niche all the way. The quality is amazing I got her sample pack today straight from Paris and wow.....just wow. This is just so well done one really just needs to get their nose on this to really appreciate what is going on. I love how available the perfumia makes herself, she is literally an email away and responds the same day. She advised me the oud she uses in this and two other fragrances in this line are natural oud, no synthetic oud at all. She uses the best all natural oils in her fragrances. The touch of oud in this fragrance is what really makes it I think. It has some sweet undertones, smoky and woody joy in a bottle. The longevity is what really blew me away here guys, you really get to experience the full ride here. Easy on the trigger. It survived a 10 hour work day, a night in bed and after a morning shower I could still smell it on my arm! Full bottle is on the way! 9.5/10 all around Edit update - I ordered Friday morning and got it today, now that's fast ! Thanks twistedlilly! Although, I seen this same bottle at firstinfragrance for $50 less, so that'd be worth looking in to I guess. This stuff is so amazing guys! Don't judge the first 15 mins or so, it's very very skanky and some don't like that, it's due to the all natural oud she uses. This stuff turns so sexy, sweet and creamy Amber that lasts forever!

Ambre Loup is my first sampling of Rania J.; it’s a rich amber fragrance, a mix of clove, spices, Peru balsam, labdanum, vanilla, agarwood, guaiac, and cedar, and it all fits together so well—resinous, spicy, and sweet, with some creamy and smoky undertones, as well. There’s only the vague hint of an animalic side; this is mainly the sweeter side of amber, which is certainly my preference. It has almost cinnamon-like nuances that give it a dessert-leaning sweetness while nonetheless being a resinous fragrance, not a gourmand. It’s definitely more so sweet than it is spicy, and it’s the balance that both an amber- and gourmand-lover like myself goes for. Compared to, say, MFK Grand Soir, Ambre Loup feels more like pure vanilla (almost the spicy Madagascar vanilla of Gallagher Fragrances Wicked Good), whereas Grand Soir is spicier—sweet, still, but with an uptick in spice from Ambre Loup. In that respect, Ambre Loup reminds me a bit more so of Tom Ford Amber Absolute, even. Also, its projection is boastful, its consistency dense and strong, from the onset, drying down very nice into a still-very-dense fragrance. It’s an EDP but gives the vibe of an extrait upon dry down. Overall, very impressive performance. Ambre Loup is sold via Luckyscent in the US at $149 for 50ml, and I believe its value is high so I’ll give strong consideration to seeking out a bottle after I compare it to some other ambers that I have. 8 out of 10

I have been exploring Rania's samples and must thank her for the generous samples. This is a house that must not be overlooked by niche lovers. I have enjoyed all of Rania's offerings and I must say, Ambre Loup is my favourite. I have been a bit nonplussed by some of the newer niche houses that seem to be generating a lot of hype on the forums. This house, in my opinion is hands down the best indie house I have explored of late. Back to Ambre Loup- as I am fast learning, the name on the bottle does not give the full story on the contents. I wouldn't call this a standard amber fragrance. If you are looking for a perfume in the vein of Ambre Sultan or Ambre 144, this is not for you. The amber is supported here by the labdanum and guaiac, then joined by a smokey vanilla. Amber is never dominant but serves to give this the cozy factor and i can detect some spice, perhaps cinnamon that isn't mentioned in the notes. I'm not sure what's creating all the smoke, but this is my favourite part and goes on and on, just smoldering away. Yet despite these heavy notes, this is a surprisingly wearable perfume that could be worn day or night. It is definitely a niche creation, but unlike some current offerings from other houses, this is refined, sophisticated and elegant. This is full bottle worthy for me! Bravo Rania!

Starts out incredibly animalic. I had to check the notes to see if castoreum or something similar was listed, but no. I started thinking of werewolves howling at the moon, but not Twilight kiddie wolves. These wolves are killers, and after their hunt and bloody feast they’re down for some mating. This stage lasts about 20 minutes and is a truly interesting olfaction experience although perhaps I don’t want to go out in public smelling this way. As the perfume evolves though it becomes a beautiful and complex amber scent, with a bit of funky labdanum and the slight moldiness of Oud. In the background is another resinous woody scent . There is also some spice and some vanilla, and the vanilla actually becomes stronger in the final dry down when Amber Loup transforms into a softer, gentler version of itself with a sweet edge. This is a master class in Amber, a complex and sophisticated scent, although probably not for someone looking for a pretty amber due to the funk factor that does persist. It will never get boring. I think it leans masculine although any confident woman can wear this. It lasts 6-8 hours and has pretty enormous sillage. This is for fall and winter, primarily evenings. All in all, this is an amber scent that should be considered a classic of modern perfumery.

Outstanding. Outrageously lush, surprisingly smoky, lethally GORGEOUS. Ava Gardner in a shimmering gold gown. A swashbuckling diva of an amber to play with the best of the best. So extraordinarily warm and caressing and sweet that it's like being swaddled in a giant luxury cashmere blanket worth $$$ - but this upscale she-wolf still shows her teeth, with the odd snarl of smoke and spice to stop you getting too smug and complacent. The more other ambers I try the more I realise they named this just right, it's a beautiful, barnstorming BEAST with a decidedly wild side. Like others here I find it just one or two notches too sweet to be the very final word on amber - all that vanilla and cinnamon just verging on cutesy at some moments - but it does edge back with enough dirty-sexy-animalesque notes to growl a little too. Dang, it's close to the finest ambers ever. Utterly seductive and adult. Lasts ages - almost alarmingly so, at least 10h on skin and literally for days and days and days on fabric. A killer queen - this one stays and slays. *standing ovation* Brava, bravissima Rania! ETA: and on wearing it again in colder weather - it's even better - with a really authentic woody oud surging to the fore and making it all edgier and more interesting.

Review is based upon an 80% alcohol batch. Ok, this juice awoke a memory in me, that I considered long since disappeared. With the first spray, I got an olfactory, face-full of my grandfather's humidor. He was a confirmed cigar smoker, but rather than the acrid stench of a burning cigar (yuck), this amber bomb, with its clove and cinnamon notes, embodies the moist, fresh, cured tobacco of a fine Cuban cigar (yummy) resting comfortably in a high-quality humidor. I consider this fragrance leaning heavily towards the masculine, as I wouldn't care to smell this on a woman, but that's a personal opinion. The oud is softened with vanilla and balsam, so if you are looking for a "barnyardy" note, you'll be disappointed. Not I, because if I want barnyard, I'll reach for something else. This is a creamy and luxurious gourmand perfume with real longevity. Full day without a problem. Projection is quite strong at the onset, but as it dries down the sillage retreats to respectable levels. If you are an amber-lover, this juice is just what the doctor ordered. This is my third bottle from the house of Rania J. and they have all been winners. Highly recommended.

Gradually becoming one of my most treasured fragrances. Simply put, if you can get past the opening you are in for a treat. The first time I sprayed this I thought something was off, similar to fruit that's gone bad/ripe. It's challenging in the beginning but thankfully it develops into an intoxicating sweet amber with slight animalic tones. I imagine with this type of fragrance you will need to give it time to reach the heart notes as the scent needs to evolve on skin. Don't go outside right after spraying, it could get negative reactions from the public. As a collector this fragrance is a must buy, it's so different from anything I have and there is something about it which makes me feel nostalgic. Beast mode performance, one/two sprays and you are set for the day. Good silage and projection, 8 hrs plus on skin and perhaps longer on clothing. Bought a bottle from Jovoy Paris online store, arrived very quickly (highly recommend them). Sample before buying for sure, this is not for everyone.

This was a blind buy. I love Dior's Ambre Nuit which is a lovely comfortable pleasing scent. I wanted to try something along the same lines, but a bit darker. With excitement I opened the box, took out the bottle and sprayed some on my wrist. . . . The reviews on here made this perfume sound soooooo gorgeous. Right. I suppose if you found the scent of slightly incontinent rutting giraffes to be gorgeous then I'd agree. The last time I'd smelled something like this I was in the giraffe paddock at Colchester zoo. Seriously. But, but, but, . . . just wait 15 minutes and the giraffes have been satiated and loped away and what's left is this joyous, deep 'amber' - not very sweet with a little something fizzing in the backbone (the wood and spices maybe?). It is, as other reviewers have said, utterly gorgeous and enchanting. I need to remember to put this on about half an hour before I leave the house though - I don't want to be chased down the street by some horny giraffe.

Amber Loup - I cannot help but read the word Loup as in “wolf” .. Loup Garou//Werewolf... This scent transports me to a dark forest, going home to my packs. Snow-covered, I seek out my beloved Loup for warmth. At the initial opening, I get a silhouette of fangs and fur: all growls, no bite. It is just a tease of something feral(animalic) but quickly settles into a chewy, golden resinous Peru balsam. The scent grows toastier as the Tonka swoops in, making it more gourmandish. The fires burn from the dry woods gathered from this ancient land in the cottage, and my wolves and I are preparing for the night as we chant: In the Lapland, Moonlit grows Loup Garous starts to show Howling echoes, wild and far Loup Garou, the moon’s avatar Notes: Top Notes: Clove, Spices Heart Notes: Balsam Peru essential oil, Labdanum Absolute, Vanilla Absolute Base Notes: Agarwood/Oud, Guaiac Wood, Cedarwood Projection: Mid-high Longevity: Solid 6-7 hours on skin

Sexy, warm, animalic amber! I'm surprised people don't note the animalic facets more because for me the first 15-20 minutes are skanky loin-n-groin. I love it. A few have observed that this resembles Dore's Russian Oud or Oud Picante, and I completely agree--this must have a good dose of real, and spicy oud. The cinnamon and cloves (rootbeer and coco-cola aspect) is front and center, with a pure and lightly vanillic and labdanum heart. How this differs from other ambers: not as incense-focused as some ambers can veer, and not as vanilla-caramel sweet. It has a tobacco quality as well that adds interest and complexity. This is a warm, sophisticated and interesting amber, very different, for example from the mostly arid-woods, yet sweet SL Ambre Sultan. My full bottle is going to get a wearing this winter. This is my top, favorite amber of all time. I do not find it linear because of the spice bazaar mix. A must try for amber lovers.

i'm on my first test of a 1ml decant. immediately obsessed. top - super spicy. but not overbearingly or in a cliché way (i'm looking at you, Amouage Material, PDM Oajan & Hermès ambre narguile.) there's some intimations of freshness/ greenness here. pretty neat :))))) heart - so warm! getting oud, vanilla, cedar, bit of powder. i'm taking my time. not demanding the frag to jump to me, but willing for me to come to it. nose to wrist, just breathing, breathing, SLOWLY. amber is there, but deep. fruitiness. incense. hypnotic, so multifaceted. potential love / fb worthy for me. havent gotten to base yet or tested longevity... just very very impressed from first hour or so. will update. Edits, amber and vanilla are coming through more. It's like a much MUCH more sophisticated version of MFK grand soir. it's soft, it's mysterious and complex. i'm loving everything about this. cant wait to try again. ❤️❤️❤️

Well I found this to be quite the wild fragrance with a lot going on scent wise. I get amber and vanilla with spices and a strong cedar and woodsy notes. The fragrance is very resinous and spicy, the oud seems to play hide and seek but when it reveals itself its like a ray of sunshine peeking out from the clouds. It adds a fresh and almost mystical like scent within the sweet spicy balsamic fragrance and then its gone to hide within the other notes. Now when I say this scent is wild its my way in trying to describe all the notes coming at you all at once. You get a constant shifting impressions from the amber vanilla to the spicy woods. I have to say its a very interesting multi-layered fragrance and one that will keep you smelling yourself to see what you will smell next. A big thumbs up from me on this scent. A very resinous spicy woody vanilla amber with hidden facets of oud. I like it.

this perfume almost always conjures up images of my first time driving in germany. picked up the car in frankfurt after 48 hours in iceland, driving southwards towards freiburg, we stopped into Aus Liebe Zum Duft, and we got to the shop at around 4.50 pm, 10 minutes before it closed. so lucky, too, because, as australians living in hong kong, there was nowhere else really i could've ever bought it. our holiday in europe was the only opportunity and so, it was one i tried to take. unfortunately, i was unable to buy a full bottle of this, however, as it was sold out, but they did give me enough spray samples for life! it's one of the most amazing smooth resinous ambers i've ever smelt; there's nothing off about this, no unfortunate notes, no necessary evils, no tolerated kinks, it's just 100% rocking resin with no skank, dirt or stink. love it!

Desde mi novata experiencia: Solo una palabra, WOW!, Realmente este aroma me tiene confundido entre la repulsión que me provoca su salida ultra concentrada y penetrante y el encanto del aroma que tiene en el secado posterior 1 a 2 horas de su aplicación, la densidad y cremosidad del fondo Ambarado/dulce realmente me hace querer oler todo el rato sin que me guste del todo, adictivo pero no creo poder usarlo, simplemente no es para mí. Si eres novato en la perfumería de autor No recomiendo comprar a ciegas ni siquiera un decant, creo que hay alternativas con las que se puede llegar a flexibilizar y desarrollar un olfato que permita disfrutar esto, me tiene embriagado y confundido. Fe de erratas: posterior al uso después de mas de un mes, he de decir que su aroma comienza a ser familiar y embriagante, me lo podria comer a cucharadas.

Amber perfumes are some of the most popular choices for cool weather, from light to dark, from simple to complex. Ambre Loup is one of my favourites. Amber vibrates on the skin like a heartbeat with labdanum, vanilla, tonka bean,agarwood, and vetiver. Definetely has a rum/whisky element to it that remain for a long time, which helps keep it complex for quite a long time.A warm fragrance, sensual and mysterious . While Ambre Loup’s projection is only moderate, its sillage was surprisingly tenacious and its longevity massive. Ambre Loup is perfect for the colder months but also for a rainy and cold summerevening. In summary Ambre Loup is a perfect basic amber, straightforward without any oddities. It never gets too vanillic sweet as some ambers, nor too herbal as others. Absolutely a top amber perfume.

Well, I am terribly pleased with my first experience of this House. Being a fan of -superiorly crafted- amber perfumes, I had high hopes and I am not at all disappointed, to say the least. Right in the opening I got a surprising hint of ginger cookies. This quickly subsided to the background, to give room to one of my favourite combinations: gaiac, labdanum and amber. The vanilla is there, but as a softening servant, mind. Beautifully complex and (to me) heartwarming. I am looking forward to test all the other samples of Rania J (I got myself two sets :p), but tomorrow may not be the time yet, as I perhaps will have to wear this more than one day in a row. Something I almost never do, which should say enough about Ambre Loup. Sillage: medium to strong Longevity: very good

Review based on the original formula, bottle from 2013. A bold, pungent amber scent built around a smoldering labdanum note. There is plenty of Oud to go with that, loads of spices, mainly in the opening, and smoke. I never got much vanilla or sweetness in Ambre Loup. Reading some reviews below I figure this one has been changed quite a bit. The Hindi Oud and the Labdanum combo hit quite hard and give off a beautiful animalic character to this perfume. One of the best in the genre, without a doubt. Personally, I never liked sweet amber scents, especially those loaded with vanilla. They just feel plain wrong. Whoever has smelled labdanum on its own will understand why. This is a very good approximation of how a true Amber Fossil accord ought to smell.

Ambre Loup is an outstanding Amber perfume!! Absolutely wonderful!! A beautiful full ambery amber, deep and masculine, which I love - natural and glorious. It's the labdanum that makes it so superb, and also the gorgeous guaiac wood. They are heavenly, and it really stands out as something superbly special to my nose. Very lovely spices, plus there's a divine smoky vanilla, and maybe that's also the oud, and a deep soft gentle tobacco which makes me melt into oblivion!!! I adore it. And it lasts and lasts!!! I tell you! I can smell it for days afterwards, which is a complete treat, as it is so soothing and comforting, and makes me feel elegant and alluring. My beloved adores it on me, and we both love it on him too. It's completely fantastic!!!

In a nutshell Ambre Loup smells like Date Jam smeared on bread, coated with lots of Cloves & Cinnamon, then Smoked & Toasted over Wood, & drizzled with Vanilla Extract. The strongest note in Ambre Loup is Peru Balsam. Which smells like a Piney syrupy sweet mildly sour Tree Sap, ungodly amounts of Cloves & Cinnamon, with a fruit nuance that sometimes smells like an over ripe Peach, or Dates. Depending on whos smelling it. My nose picks up the scent of Dates. The combination of Peru Balsam, Labdanum, & Vanilla creates an idea of the scent of Amber. This fragrance is very sweet, very spicy, & very strong. Its perfect for extremely cold weather & especially Fall & Winter Holliday Events. This is one of my most complimented Cold Weather fragrances.

An absolute masterpiece. So wonderfully warm and comforting, with perfectly balanced spices. The opening is a bit harsh, but only for a tiny brief moment. It then develops beautifully. The vanilla and guaiac is great. Reminds me a bit of gingerbread cookies all in all. But so much deeper than that. It really is beautiful, and not basic at all. The performance is beastly. Lasts easily over 12 hours, and the projection is fantastic. You will get noticed. I got several compliments for it the first time I wore it. One of the girls said that it smells like cinnamon, and the other girls agreed. Unfortunately I only had a small sample, so I won't be able to get a second try from it. But I will definitely get a bottle. It's amazing. 9,75/10

These kinds of briefs confuse me. Not because they don't make sense, but because EVERYONE knows that even though this doesn't contain 'real' amber (or so it says), it contains every other amber-esque aromachemical -- ambrarome, ambralene, ambranine, ambranore and probably even ambraleid. I mean, it probably DOESN'T have amber, but neither does Amber Sultan, Amber Absolute, etc... It is a wonderful combination of accords -- I've picked up something I've come across in an Orto Parisi scent, I'm sure, and in some ways, it's part of the whole Angels' Share - Oajan trope, but done better, I feel. Smooth, gourmand-esque resins, sweet vanillic notes and a wonderful balsamic tone throughout. I love this scent!

my second bottle of Ambre Loup... this is amber perfection and she didn’t mess with the formulation, it’s just a perfectly done amber scent. The first 5-10 mins is a little animatic but immediately after, follows a gorgeous dry down that lasts. The color of this juice is dark amber too.. the perfumer, Rania J, answers emails still and she told me she uses high end real oud in her fragrances and I can tell. The new bottle has a different cap, but it’s solid black metal and it’s heavy and I love that small detail. No corners were cut with this fragrance, I can tell her heart went into creating a magical, smoky, slightly sweet, dry, resinous , amber that niche heads will melt for. 10/10

Hey Frangrance Lovers! I'm testing this fragrance through a sample and I if I could describe it in two words: daring and unique. I find this fragrance a perfect blend between L'Air Du Desert Marocain (Masterpiece! For me the OG of amber scents)and Grand Soir by MFK. It starts with a very dry, spicy and woody/oudy amber like LDDM and, as it starts to develop, comes this sweet vanilla note like Grand Soir that wraps the dryness and humph of the oud. It's a woody/oudy and sweet amber. The oud note never fades away and it's the note that gives personality to Ambre Loup. Masterfully blended fragrance. The projection is very strong and longevity isn't a problem as well. Overall, 10/10!

Absolutely beautiful spicy amber fragrance. On the initial spray I get almost a boozy, rum or maybe cognac note mixed in but it fades quickly, leaving a wonderful spiced amber, sitting on a base of creamy vanilla. Truly beautiful. I get a little oud that has a little funk to it if I smell for it, but it's not enough to make this a challenge. This is absolutely perfect for winter/fall and I think it's rich enough for a formal or special situation while being comfortable enough for anytime. This screams Christmas to me, with the wonderful spice. All in all, a wonderful amber fragrance, perfect anytime during the cooler times of the year.

I just ordered my bottle from First in Fragrance--It's a German website that ships to the U.S. for €25, but Ambre Loup is only €98 (roughly $105 as opposed to $150) AND you get 3 free samples (anything under €4)! PLUS if you sign up in advance, you get a birthday discount! *The package took a month to arrive (not to mention the horrible tracking), and it came so beat-up that the perfume box was damaged although they managed to send me a new box... @silviaci Amber is not listed because it's a perceptive note combining resins (labdanum) and balsams (Peru), sweetened by vanilla (and/or tonka)

My first, and definitely not my last, fragrance from Rania J. Like a comforting cocoon, embracing and warm. Reminds me of Memo Shams Oud with the same sunny quality. Lovely labdanum is the strongest note here, the smoky vetiver, guaiacwood and peru balsam also contribute to make this a very special scent. Amazing boozy/oudy depth and lasts forever. Great value for the money, smells expensive! With amber not listed among the notes, it just strengthens the theory that other notes can come together to make what we really smell, in this case amber. I will check out Rania ́s other perfumes, she is definitely a very talented perfumeuse!

This one is quite amazing, it's even better than I anticipated. Nutty, resinous, woody unisex amber, noble and fluffy at the same time. The opening is spicy and very woody, but once it settles (in 10 minutes) the magic starts to unfold. Basically it is amber with a mosaic of undertones: woodiness, smokiness, slight powderiness, slight spiciness, and just the right amount of sweetness. Tonka is very pronounced on my skin (=yummy!). Just lovely, equally beautiful on ladies and gentlemen, great for colder months but could be worn all year round I suppose. Thanks to sweet pravda48 for the sample!

I love a very raw, gooey, woodsy, non-powdery amber. The oud and balsam sourness add something earthy, animalic, but so very natural. Even without reading the "hunter-gatherer" bit from the sales copy, this immediately pleases a primal part of me. Ambre Loup is dense with distinct notes, challenging, yet seductive with its sweet dry-down. Despite its pungency, this becomes a palatable, vanillic, slightly smokey incense musk once the initial funk dries off. Equal parts gourmand and animalic. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but oh how I want to own this delicious dirty cinnamon.

I blindbought this 3 weeks ago, in a 50ml bottle...loved it so much that i ordered a 100ml bottle of it within days. I do have several amazing amber scents, like Byzantine Amber by Bianchi, Grand Soir by MFK, Amber Sky by Ex Nihilo, Ambre Nuit by Dior, to name a few...This one, though, has dethroned them all and is easily the best Amber scent i have in my collection. Definitely a must-have if you love amber. Longevity and sillage are great. I get around 12 hours on skin and days on clothes. You really don't need more than 3-4 sprays to make your presence known...

A beautiful spicy amber, with a slight animalic touch in the opening which fades little by little. A good dose of cinnamon and clove too, but I can handle it despite the fact that i hate this note, this combo reminds me a bit of Tonka Réminiscence, but it is less powdery here and better executed. The drydown is lovely, the amber and spices combo gives almost this dark chocolate vibe to the scent, and there is also a slight booziness in the back. This lasts a really long time too. This is a lovely fragrance perfectly balanced between sweet, spicy and woodsy notes.

This is the sweet, smoky, crackling, burning leaves perfume I've been dreaming about for years, since I first heard the song "Black No. 1" by Type O Negative: "Little wolf-skin boots and clove cigarettes...her perfume smells like burning leaves." Ambre Loup smells like spiced, clovey, sticky tobacco resin being scraped out of a wolf's head-shaped wooden pipe. I've always loved the smell that bonfire smoke leaves on my clothes. This is a little like that as well, but more delicious and seductive with the vanillic gourmand and warmly furry animalic facets.

Rania J fragrances have always impressed me, even if I don't immediately like them. Ambre Loup, along with Cuir, was an immediate love. I've had a few samples over the years and not really noticed a difference in formulation. From the get go, this is warm and comforting with just a little bit of medicinal oud in the background. The guaiac and cedar listed explains the somewhat scratchy aspects that come out for the first few hours but die down so the fragrance can calm down for the remaining 10 or so hours. Lasts like a dream. Beautiful.

Absolutely amazing, I bought the sample pack direct from Rania J they are all amazing scents but this one is immense, I ordered a bottle straight away and tempted to order the Jasmine one too. I love Amber and enjoy Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan, Parfum D Empire Ambre Russe but this one is a cozy Amber supported by a smoky, vanilla base and totally addictive. It's resinous and the longevity is fantastic. I have quite a few niche scents now, not all I intend on replacing when used up but this I will not be without, Fabulous!

It's amber, which is an alliance of several notes like Peruvian balsams, labdanum, vanilla and others. It's similar to the MFK Grand Soir, just it's more mature. The MFK GS is easier to wear, it's easier to accept other people's nose, and I think it has better performance. Ambre Loup feels heavier and more natural, one degree above it with a lower level of humility. I also have Profumumum Roma Ambra Calabria, this is also similar to the Ambre Loup, but the AC is more wild, heavier than the Ambre Loup.

I just can’t get enough of this magnificent amber. It’s so natural with the woods, smoke, and vanilla. I don’t think it smells like anything mentioned above, but everyone is different. Very long lasting with a monster scent trail. This leans more artistic / masculine, not your typical amber, which is why I love it. If you like TF Amber Absolute, or PR Ambre Aurea, you’ll like this, not the same or even similar, but in that artisan space of super high quality and natural smelling.

Woah Woah Woah this is a masterpiece! I've been bouncing around between Ambre Sultan and Amber Absolute and neither was perfect for me, but THIS IS IT! Exactly the dark resinous sweet combo I was looking for! Rooted in the Middle East and Africa, the now-Paris based perfumer goes one step beyond typical indie brands; it's as niche as it can be. If you haven't tried it, I strongly urge you to go to their website to get an entire set of samples for only 10 Euro!

Aha. Here is one of those fragrances that you might encounter 1 out of every hundred or so times when sampling. One where an enormous silly grin plasters itself on your face as the scent grabs your hand and carries you along on a journey, then rocks you to sleep later in a fuzzy embrace. A slightly medicinal and herbal opening transforms into the warmest smoothest vanillic gingerbread Amber. But the star ingredient in this scent is Pure Unadulterated Magic.

I’m not an Ambre lover , as I usually tend to go toward roses, flowers, and citrus. But this is so lovely. It’s smoky and not overly sweet, has zero Patchouli, and it reminds me of a camp fire and woolen blankets. The silage and lasting power are both average to good. It has the same vibe as Ambre Narguile but it feels thicker and smokier, without suffocating. I love it, recommended to all , including people who don’t normally like orientals and ambers.

Serious stuff here. Ambre Loup is a stunning fragrance. There is something "magic" in this fragrance. I can tell u that every single time I wear it I detect something new...and..The most important thing is that this perfume has the power to evoke emotions. Amazing longevity and great sillage. If you like ambery and woody/spicy scents you can't go wrong. I'm using it during winter(sweden) and it's absolutely stunning in cold weather. 8.5/10

Ambre Loup is a completely different animal when tested on skin (no pun intended 0:)). Animalic honey, rich sweet amber and thick resins of mind-blowing quality and density. Was left completely unimpressed by it when tested on paper. It seemed there was nothing but high-quality labdanum. Projects a fantastic vanillic aura around the wearer. Wouldn't call it a wolf though. Rather a healthy well-fed fox. A fox with Titian red fur.

Just a new adorable perfume i came through , it was a gift from person who seems to know my taste very well , it is a new successful experience for me in the oriental perfume since my favorite are always mediterranean citrusy perfumes , i adored Ambre Loup specially when it settled , it is really great perfume with high and fine quality , loud but not heavy , it reminds me of Chergui from Serge Lutens but less sweetness .

In the first 10-15 minutes it is nothing but smoke to me. Dark, thick smoke. Then some resinous aspects start to appear. After about an hour, the fragrance becomes softer, almost honey-esque and a sweet spiciness appears (even if the spices are in the top notes, for me they appear later). I love the fact that after a couple of hours it totally melts into my skin and becomes a second skin. Longevity is about 7-8 hours.

Absolutely magical. Ambre Loup is everything I want from a ambery fragrance. This is heavy stuff! A masterclass in Labdanum and Peru Balsam. I dont get anything noteably animalistic from this however. This is just christmas in a bottle. I get a very strong Christmas pudding smell in the opening which dies down a bit after a few hours into a beautiful smokey and creamy vanillic labdanum This is an absolute masterpiece

I can only echo what others have said below really, confirmation that it's an extreamly quality fragrance. The longevity is amazing. I placed a small squirt on each wrist in the morning, and could smell this wonderful scent all day. Even taking an evening shower I could still smell it on each wrist the following morning. I believe this could be the strongest scent I own to date. Absolutely incredible! 10-10

It starts out with a resinous woody (oud) opening that's neither too strong or fecal, yet it's a powerful punch that leaves you swooned. Then it mellows into a lovely duet between guaiac and the familiar amber scent that everybody loves. However, what's truly impressive is the drydown, in which the [most authentic] vanilla shines along with everything from the top to the middle, never losing its character

Disclaimer: I adore this fragrance Scrumptious spicy opening that gradually matures into a comforting bed made of mixture of vanilla and oud. The performance is beastly, and the colder the weather the better it performs. For sampling, look up Rania J's website for a discovery set at reasonable price. Smelling is believing after all ! Pb07 is right, it has been reformulated. A friend has a new bottle and I noticed straight away that it was less potent than my bottle. Sure enough new one lists alcohol at 83%, original is 80%. Now don't get me wrong, it still smells great but it doesn't knock your socks off in quite the same way. If you've never experienced the original then disregard this review and just enjoy it for what it is.

Beautiful multi-faceted warm amber with definite stages of development. Opening is best described as animalic-musky-smoke amber, turning softer and sweeter with vanilla and guaiac wood in the drydown. Combined with stellar performance, what’s not to love. Thank you to the generous fragrantican that sent me a small sample. That’s all I needed to understand why so many love this perfume.
