T. Habanero

T. Habanero is my fourth try from the house of Rania J, and like the others I’ve tried so far, it’s great, a spicy tobacco accompanied by a mélange that’s highlighted by black pepper, mostly, to my nose, with an ensemble involving pink pepper, cardamom, oud, incense, myrrh, and leather. I’m not sure I get too much of any of these but I can sort of see them all being involved. It’s not overtly animalic but there is a dry varnishy aspect that hints at leather and oud. Similarly, it’s not sweet, but there’s a resinous side, sort of a resinous/woody dry down that seems in line. T. Habanero is pretty serious, like Lavande 44, and feels gentlemanly though conceivably unisex, albeit more suited for the colder weather than the more year-round-friendly Lavande 44. There are an abundance of sweeter tobacco-heavy fragrances, a number of which I love, so it’s nice to have something on the spicier side. It certainly reminds me of other spicy men’s fragrances, as well, but it’s not wholly classic, as it has a modern, artistic vibe to it, though it seems to walk the line between indulgent and restrained. Like the rest of the Rania J line, T. Habanero is priced at $149 for 50ml retail and is only sold officially in the US through Luckyscent, and it performs well, slightly better than Lavande 44, I initially sought out about half of the house’s seven fragrances to try, but they’ve all been quite outstanding, so I’ll probably look to try the other three (Cuir Andalou, Jasmin Kana, Music Moschus) as well. 8 out of 10

The dry down won me over on this one, just like ambre loup did. She is quite an amazing perfumia. The opening with this was like a love hate for me, the sweetness the darkness battling it out, but mixed with my skin scent after about 30 mins I get a wonderful wonderful aroma one just has to experience. I mean looking at the notes here I was expecting something a little different but I have to say I am quite impressed with this offering and Amber loup. I have full bottles of each. The longevity on these fragrance s are like extrait status, beast mode ! I did notice after I paid $150 for a bottle at twisted Lilly I could have got it $98 at first in fragrance, so look around. She was also proud to notify me she only uses natural oud in her fragrances nothing synthetic. Beast longevity. Must try guys, must try!

This one is softer on skin than on paper. This opens similarly as Oud Assam (as others have already said), with Rania Jouaneh's signature orange-y oud, and then soften to become a powdery dry tobacco, supported by a noticeable myrrh note (here with its animalic/cola-ish facet) and a hint of honey. Performance is surprisingly a step lower than Oud Assam, and could be improved given the price point. Despite the lower-than-expected projection, it's a masterpiece imo, what TF Tobacco Oud remotely dreamt to be. It is indeed a quite bold formal fragrance, and even if leaning masculine, I find it easier to pull off by a woman than TF Tobacco Oud for example, because of the creamy sandalwood in the drydown. It targets for sure more mature crowds. Fantastic. My only regret: buying a 50ml bottle. I definitely should have gone for the 100ml one. Fall/Winter evenings, 35+

At first I was a bit divided about T. Habanero. I could not decide whether I experienced a yet unfinished experiment or a masterly crafted rugged tobacco scent. After wearing it a number of times I am now completely convinced that the latter interpretation is true for me. T. Habanero opens with a burst of a challenging oud variety spiced with pepper. Once the oud settles a bit T. Habanero evolves to the best spicy tobacco I have experienced. It's easy to recognize Rania Jouaneh's signature on this scent. In T.Habenero i find references to Oud Assam as well as Lavande 44. In the dry down T. Habanero turns resinous-woody but still with an oudy edge. To my nose T. Habanero is the masterpiece in Rania J's impressive and very artful collection.

Another worthless “this perfume reminds me of” on here This is an original creation. Very dark and dirty. You have to like the slight anamalic ouds though. This is one where the opening isn’t the easiest to jump on board with, but a magical dry down keeps you hooked. I prefer Ambre Loop from her line personally. I think that’s a better fragrance than my Amber Absolute from TF. This does have some sort of habenro vibe to it with the cardamom/pink pepper opening, but it’s mostly a tobacco/dirty oud/ leather dark type scent that plays out quite well if you like the darker fragrances . Very good use of high end raw materials from a very talented perfumer.

T. Habanero delivered what I wanted from TF Tobacco Oud, how satisfying! Sharp and smoky tobacco opening that I find very masculine. When that sharpness retracts, I get more black pepper on my skin, harmonious with smoky incense and oud, and tobacco weaving throughout. The final act is a subtle cinnamon-y oud. It flows through the phases very smoothly and makes me feel confident, grounded, then comforted. It felt perfect in the cold days we've been having, but I'm interested to see how it behaves in warm weather - could be delicious when going out on a warm summer night.

Very exotic, alluring, delicious, and luxurious steamy pile of dog shit in the opening due to the Hindi Oud being used here, supported by some fine tobacco and lots of spices. This is very sexy, with good performance and price point, not for the faint of heart. A clear step up from the TF Oud whatever specifically designed and made for the rookies. Rest assure, you'll get a taste of real Oud from this one, before you up your game and go down the rabbit hole in Bortnikoff, Areej Le Dore, Ensar, and Agar Aura.

This is pretty linear on my skin - I didn't notice much change from opening to drydown. The notes here mesh really well together. I get roughly equal parts tobacco, oud, pepper, incense, and sandlewood. None of them overpower the other, but are great in combination. I'm wearing it on a cool spring day, but really look forward to wearing in the fall and winter. A winner.

This is my second bottle from this house, the first being Oud Assam. I’m kind of blown away to be honest. There is such wonderful depth to both. This one is giving me Amouage overture vibes but a touch more subtle and smoother. I’m really looking forward to buying more from them.

This is thick, wet tobacco on a old moist and mossy treestomp somewhere in the Cuban jungle. Or... The wood floor of an old Cuban bar after its been freshly cleaned. Either way big love for me. I love both.

All I can say is, it’s a Beautiful wear from beginning to end!! I Love it!! Rania J is definitely a dope house!! Oud Assam, Cuir Andalou and that amber piece are all excellent to me!! Good Job

What an experience for the first few hours!!! Rich, deep, complex and utterly amazing oud + tobacco combination, full of spices and blasts of animalic sexiness. Loud and clear leather with a sweet, intoxicating myrrh and resins! You've got to try this for the opening at least. Purely unisex and very, very good! The heart/drydown though goes a bit downhill for me, I mostly get resins, but not the sweet kind - there is a distinct sourness on me which I'm not the greatest fan of as it seems a bit too masculine, though I do enjoy masculine scents at some times. Excellent longevity (more than 12 hours) + a decant sillage. I was impressed with Lavande 44 by Rania J (and I absolutely adore having it in my collection) and the first few hours of this trump even that.

Warm, spicy tobacco. T. Habanero (TH) is an interesting one. Tobacco & Oud dominate. Woody oud, smoky incensy myrrh, warm aromatic spices (cardamom, B&P pepper), & soft, malleable, almost-sweet tobacco. Woody, warm, spicy, tobacco, oud, incensy, liquory, ambery, & mildly-sweet. Even though it is not listed, there is a smell of liquor here, whiskey-like. Also, that oud/tobacco combination is reminiscent of Tom Ford's Tobacco Oud. It is not a clone but they both share similar characters. TH is a good take on the tobacco/oud combination. It is dark & serious, the word "gothic" comes to mind, too. This is a mature, cool weather scent, that is quite masculine. Big "Like"

Tabacco morbido, suadente, affascinante, dal cuore legnoso. Evolve aprendosi alle resine dolcemente intense di mirra e olibano. Il fumo, moderatamente speziato, (pepe, cardamomo e peperoncino habanero si distiguono chiaramente...), si diffonde quieto ma costante dal polso, fedele a se stesso. Volute a spirale di tabacco e mirra avvolgono un oud nè austero nè ruvido, ma elegantemente smoky e unisex. Un profumo che non deluderà i o le tabacco/lovers. Personalmente amo il tabacco che esalta e sposa la rosa, in Habanero il tabacco resta serenamente single.

Its a really nice fragrance with a fresh soapy start followed by a brutal sweaty dirty oud. After that the gorgeous tobacco scent. For the first try, I felt it really weak...I bought a sample, and after a few months, tried it again and surprise! Its not that weak at all! If your limit is Interlude, this is not for you. This fragrance a dissolving type, which fits to your style, gives you a very pleasant mood without the making a headache, and overpowering everything else around you. Awesome.

This is stunning! If I found a bottle at a good price I would scoop it up no questions asked! It’s medicinal, Smokey, I do perceive ambre Gris not listed but it is anchoring the scent and helping it from becoming too dry and herbaceous on me. The peppery opening is intertwined with dry tobacco leaves. Slight sweetness appears and I am in love! Some days you want to try something moving and meaningful. This has soul. I loved it! It’s not for everyone. Definitely test before you buy!

Starts of pretty stanky oudy. Definitely the animalic type most likely laoatian. yes it’s a bit poopy at first. Thankfully it smoothens out into a really nice incensey oud and realistic tobacco direction. I also get some type of powdery eucalyptus/barbershop accord start to come in deep into the drydown. It’s nice but I thought it would be a bit more interesting based off the note breakdown!

This is a little funky, but I was digging it ... until it essentially disappeared... I crave long-lasting scents that give me whiffs of heaven throughout my day, lifting my mood in the process. This just didn't have that kind of staying power on my skin.

Delightful, masculine, easy to wear. Straddles the gap between Oriental and Occidental oud fragrances. Oud, tobacco, cardamom and pink pepper are the most prominent notes to my nose. Could be worn in every season except the depths of summer.

As T. Habaenero opens, a weak showing from the tobacco note allows the peppery elements to the fore. As so often with this house, the initial impact is confusing: another fragrance that can't make up its mind whether its a middle-of-the-road Amber or a half-hearted Wood. There is some compensation in the dry down however. For a while the dryness of the base notes conveys a mellow woodsy feel: like an autumn afternoon on the estancia. The tobacco is gathered in (into a distant barn!) and you can sink into a leather armchair in a wood-panelled den and luxuriate in smoke. But it's all too brief, understated, moderate ... and ultimately disappointing.

T. Habanero slaps you in the face with a real-life, barnyardy oud, that lasts all of 5 minutes. There is hint of tobacco that while pleasant, is also fleeting. What remains, albeit briefly, is a scent reminiscent of Ambre Loup. This is my fourth bottle from the house of Rania J and the first one with which I am disappointed. I have the bottle with the Black cap and either this juice has been reformulated and WATERED DOWN, or it was never a great performer from the get-go. Not recommended.

A spicy tobacco that leans into leather. It's ok I guess, not very exciting it doesn't evolve much.

I had an uncle who used to chain smoke heavily and wear your stereotypical 'masculine' perfumes up until his death. This smells like I remember him smelling. It's quite shocking how familiar it is. As others have noted, it opens with oud. It seems to be a slightly less putrid oud than the one in Oud Assam (also be Rania J), but it shares a very similar DNA. It's medicinal and funky but not blue cheese and vomit, which is, to me, a good thing. There's very little that separates this from Oud Assam for the first 1-4 minutes on skin. It can be quite confusing and can make you question if you sprayed the right bottle. When the oud dissipates eventually, the tobacco takes over with something else (resins or incense maybe?) there too. I think, despite the other reviews, it's a fragrance that you really have to go digging for, and concentrate to get, notes other than oud and tobacco. Cardamon is there if you think about it, but it doesn't jump and say "hey I'm cardamon and I'm here." This really doesn't match my personality at all. Wear what you want and all that jazz, but I really can't see how this is in anyway feminine, or in any way youthful. For me, it's a scent that you would expect to smell on a 40-50 year old business man who has over-sprayed and is stinking up the elevator. It's not very pleasant to my nose and doesn't smell like the quality it is marketed as being. Lasts forever though! So that's something!

To cite Luckyscent that IMHO describes the scent in its best: "fungal dampness of the oud to the creamy sweetness of the tobacco leaf." This is definitely masculine. Very prominent agarwood, tobacco leaves, leather and myrr. More of a fireplace, not in a romantic way so to speak. Very heavy and not really pleasant.

Tobacco, oh beloved tobacco, I'm still awaiting for you. I had so great expectations.... unwearable for my chemistry.

The pepper top notes were not noticeable, but with minimal cardamom. Pretty quickly, that disappears into a dark, perfect, absolute tobacco in a lightly aromatic, fully woodsy, slightly smoky sense—the woods here isn’t overbearing. It really presents itself as a sibling to Burning Ben by Strangers Parfumerie. However, this is disappointingly short lived (as in, completely disappears), and isn’t really worth further consideration for a bottle, in that the bottom notes barely prop up anymore, no more than half an hour in, commensurately to a basic resinous woodsy frag. Heartbreakingly, an underwhelming frag.

Offering a twist on the typical tobacco form, T. Habanero weaves together several divergent olfactory threads with great success. This scent opens with a paradox of sorts: a traditional tobacco structure that’s rendered complex through the introduction of resinous, herbal, and earthy facets. There’s a stout and spicy cardamom, a plausible oud, and an expansive myrrh, all suspended over a shrewd moss, which reveals itself late into the scent’s life. The tobacco is somewhat reserved, yet pervasive, striking an impressionistic balance between spaces where cigars are prepared and the unlit cigars themselves. What’s so notable about this seemingly discordant coterie of notes, though, is that it feels as though they shouldn’t work together quite as well as they do. But that’s one of the scent’s highlights—T. Habanero is extremely well put-together. Tobacco aside, the myrrh stands out the most, followed by the cardamom, and the merging of the two notes yields a smart interplay of sweet and acerbic characteristics. The myrrh reminds me of Armani’s Myrrh Impériale but sidesteps that scent’s overbearing sweetness by the use of herbs that clear a space for the tobacco. But for as conservative as the tobacco is (and it’s a dry tobacco, too), the impression of humidors, cigars, and smoking environments is continuously called into mind. It’s slightly less literal than other tobacco fragrances, but there’s an unmistakable sophistication about the whole affair that pushes the scent more in the direction of antiquated than contemporary. After a couple of hours, the scent drifts a tad prematurely into a moss base that isn’t quite as fetching as the opening, yet it strikes me as the most appropriate option for a scent such as this. So, T. Habanero’s composition can perhaps be summarized as a tastefully understated herbal tobacco couched in semi-sweet myrrh and shaded with a leathery oud. Although this is not completely to my taste (I lean toward more anarchic scents, and cardamom and I rarely see eye to eye), for fans of refined, elegant tobacco scents, this one does a fine job of setting itself apart from the rest.

quite offensive top note! and i can tell it's Rania's style cause i can sense her stamp in this fragrance quite clear. the top note reminds me allot of Lavande 44 but louder and extremely boisterous. Very harsh and kind of disturbing... However, & as it calms down, the fun begins .... as i start sensing a chocolate gourmand note! not quite clear but eludes through the scene! kind of plays hide & seek but slaps you with joy once u get near! deliciously dark offensive and superbly alluring! and as it calms down more it goes juicy and hefty to establish a base of joyment and mystery! honestly.. i have absolutely no idea why am i running through the dark side these days when i purchase samples! and ironically this process goes unintentionally! As a final word, this is captivating and deserves a grand Salam :)

T. Habanero opens with a blast of medicinal (i.e genuine) oud, peppery spices and incense. It can be challenging to the uninitiated but what comes afterwards is pure bliss. The warm mid-tones gradually rear their heads after 10 minutes from the initial blast settles. Tobacco mixed with frankincense and myrrh. The base is warmest due to the woodsy tones. T. Habanero has vibes of Tauer's L'air du Desert Marocain in the sense that it is dry, peppery, spicy and warm. T. Habanero and Ambre Loup are my favourites from the line. I thoroughly enjoy their avant-garde approach to the traditional Middle Eastern perfumery. 9/10 but if you ask me why not a 10/10? My answer is, it's a 10/10 :)

I’m learning that I have trouble with real oud when it’s dominant in a fragrance, and that’s why I have an issue with both Habenero and Oud Assam from Rania J. After the opening, Habenero turns into a sweet tobacco scent. But I can’t get past the poop smell. Drydown is better but I still pick up a barnyard. The fecal molecules seem to hang out in my nose.... and they aren’t welcome. I love Ambre Loup and Rose Ishtar, and I own Lavande 44. Two of those three have her signature oud in them but they are turned way down in the compositions. I love Rania J’s line of perfume, she’s an incredible nose, but Habanero is not for me.

Fecal oud, and tobacco covered up with myrrh and cardamom. There's hyrax in this as well, which gives it the funky zoo cage smell. Not surprised seeing Montecristo in the reminds me of section, this is similar to that, only that one is even more unwearable. Steer clear if you're not into fecal-smelling animalics. Not sure why people are trying to compare this with Tobacco Oud, there are zero similarities and have nothing to do with one another. Tobacco Oud does not smell like feces.

I was really curious to try this perfume because I'm a tobacco addict...in perfume only because I never smoke in my life. The spicy note (pepper) and leather note also caught my attention.T. Habanero is an interesting one because perfume with tobacco note are often more sweet than dry. This one is really a dry one and a complex one. Nice but I don't like the smokey note. It's more a fire camp note than a cigar note. For that reason, I not sure this one will join my collection.

The opening to this scent is a little challenging with what smells like sweet Cambodian oud and dark tobacco. After a while it starts to smell quite nice with the sweet Cambodian oud mixing in with the fermented like dark tobacco. I used to have a bottle of real sweet Cambodian oud and recognised the smell almost immediately whilst smelling this fragrance. After a while the incense can be smelled and the scent becomes soft and spicy and quite pleasant.

I am currently wearing T habanero, its definitely my favourite so far from the house. The offensive top notes that people below refer to is 100% real OUD/Agarwood, she uses this in all her creations. I can definitely say that her creations are the first time I've actually been able to detect this note in a fragrance that claims to have real Oud.

Incense Burnt cigar ash (nice but I want wet damp style tobacco) Fecal but not like you think (you're most likely smellimg organic ambergris) very nice n smooth Dark and spicy It's rich and mature but my only issue is the tobacco isn't utalized the way I wanted. I would classify this as an incense oud fragrance and does a great job at that

Yep, opens up with strong oud note that quickly changes to one of the best tobacco fragrances ever. Rania is quality and performance and while the oud is potent it's also fantastic. More evidence that the price of the scent is not at all proportional to the quality. This destroys other tobacco fragrances costing twice as much.

After being disappointed with Oud Assam, I thought I would give Rania J another chance. I tried T. Habanero and thought I was being fooled. Apart from a more baby powder dry-down, this smells almost the same as Oud Assam... Sorry Rania, it's just not meant to be between us. but that's O.K. Live well...

This is the best poop opening in a fragrance ever. Love it!! Like mentioned before, is quite similar to Oud Assam for the first 5 minutes, but the funky smell is what got me hooked. It's not repulsive at all, in my opinion. It is such a warm scent. Well done Rania J.

Frightening at the beginning, barely perceptible in 15 min, feminine asex, smells authentic. Actually it smells HOME. I believe a tiny fortuitous sample has already become my signature scent...

I love this fragrance!! Masculine all the way! Elegant and clasy all the way. Only down side is that, for my liking I would like the tobacco to be a bit stronger.

the opening is really bad, but within a few minutes it dries down to a very high quality, authentic tobacco. this is a real tobacco, not a mall tobacco scent

Habanero is a Cuban Spanish masculine adjective - meaning “of Havana”.

Dries down to Evernyl. Very synthetic. Very disappointing.

New 8.8 ml sized travel sprays are very welcome!
