Busaina

Review updated because Busaina is a chameleon. She is a story of Musk-Lavender-Cedarwood that needs multiple wears to understand. Busaina is a unisex fragrance that at first spray you might believe leans more masculine but after wearing for a few days, you'll realise is a perfectly balanced unisex. And if you stick with her for a few months, you'll start to see it actually leans feminine in its expression. The cedarwood is unmistakable, it dominates the opening and gives it a men's cologne feel with that cool lavender, but once it settles, this combination becomes earthy, clean and comforting. The musk in this fragrance is cool, almost ambergris like and definitely not a white musk. This bolsters that masculine illusion that might make you wonder if Rasasi might have made a mistake and switched formulations. The resins are a bit sharp, not smooth, but they become more balsamic as the scent dries down. The floral notes seem inexistent with cedarwood dominating and overpowering all senses in the opening and mid. However as it dries down on skin, whiffs tease the nostrils... only whiffs, nothing daring or strong. This earthy, deep, woody fragrance is not for the woman who enjoys fruity, sweet or simple florals. It reminds me a lot of Rasasi's Rumz 9325 Zebra for her - the cedarwood is the same- unisex hinging on masculine when it comes out of the nozzle, gentle when it settles. Projection, sillage and longevity are all moderate. Neither underwhelming nor noteworthy. I would welcome men to try this fragrance, I think they'll enjoy it very much in the warmer months. I blind bought this with one eye open- the low rating and comments warned me this would not be a walk in the park. But I was too curious not to try and I'm glad I did. I see myself repurchasing this time and time again. Now that the weather has turned chilly in the shire, I am absolutely loving this. I reach for it as I get ready for work, and I turn to her after my nightly ablutions before I slip into bed. Although the scent profile is rather cool and clean, I could not wear this in any other season than the colder months.

I'm mesmerized! Starts citrusy and metallic, quite pungent in the opening. Off putting, I'd say. You might do yourself a favor and not sniff it for the first 2 minutes after application. Once it settles, you will feel developing this natural aura, a beautiful replica of the Greek lavender fields! You can even catch glimpses of salty water in the breeze... Lingers on between Aventus for Her and Silver Mountain Water, with a noticeable touch of agarwood. I would say this would target women in the Middle East, but would lean towards the unisex market in the Occident. Rather delicate. The resins are not turning sweet at all, enlightening that fresh touch, typical of summer fragrances. Very sophisticated scent, contrasting notes that work perfectly together. This is a delightful perfume journey! A memorable summer holiday in a beautiful bottle.

I bought this EDP for my wife - her first Arabian scent. A definite citrus opening, but this quickly dissapeared into a slight floral middle with a very intense resin background. I spent the next 2 hours with this resin note prominent, knowing I had smelt it before (many times), but unable to pinpoint it. Then suddenly I had it - it's Pine/Cedar sap, with a musky edge. Unique from anything I've smelt to date for sure.

Busaina is an interesting EDP to me. Deep, spicy and woody with a strong touch of resin. I personally do not detect much the flowers. Can't think of any perfume that reminds me to this. It is different with a unique touch. In the beginning I noticed strong lavendar (which I disliked) but after a while it turned rounder in combination with woods and resin . To me it smells sophisticated not loud. However, I prefer more flowers, thus not really for my taste.

This is a very clean middle eastern perfume, it's oud but nothing skanky or animalic, has a cold feel to it. It's light woods and perhaps a hit of the lavender giving it that clean cool feel. I like it.
