Junoon Velvet for Women

Have this for 3 weeks now and wore it a few times This fragrance is in the same style as Santal Royal, but focused on rose, not on the woody and earthy parts like the Guerlain (safe to say that if you like one, you will like the other one) This changes a bit from the opening to dry down, but the evolution is very subtle. In the opening you get a more green rose with fruity nuances, then turns into a jammy rose with fruity nuances, then turns into a jammy rose with earthy and woody nuances.. Sure, you can detect the other notes listed, but they are mainly there to highlight different facades of the rose. As a man, I love wearing this, but you have to like a good rose note with all its facades.. This does not project much, but it leaves a nice trail, while the smell in the bubble around you is quite thick, this having a very rich smell. Lasts till I wash it off my skin, but take this with a grain of salt as fragrances tend to last well on me. Got it for just under 25$ for 50ml here in Romania and at that price it's a steal! This one smells like higher-end Middle Eastern niche, but for an affordable price. I bought Junoon Velvet based solely on the notes and my strangely reliable blind-buying intuition. It is feminine, deep, sexy, dark, perfectly sweetened, and not too heavy. The sweetness is well-balanced with the resins, florals, and spices, preventing it from being praline-like or tooth-achingly sweet. Not a gourmand. It is such a full, gorgeous composition. If you like Middle Eastern niche with great characteristics-- rich, sexy, dark, incensey, not-too-leathery, with just the right amount of sweetness-- I say give this one a try.

I would have to disagree with Dawnya7b, personally I don’t smell even an ounce or slight whiff of oud at all. If any, I think a tiny nuance of woody element as it has sandalwood as a support player to stabilize the scent. Rose is the focal point along with some resinous body and hint of very smooth leathery accord but it is not so noticeable but rather adds some body to it with amber and benzoin. It also has a bit of berry like sour sweetness thanks to raspberry and black currant especially in the opening until moves on to the mid stage. Over all this fragrance is “velvety”, smooth glide of rose fragrance with some warm oriental elements of amber, benzoin and olibanum. I don’t detect clove or cinnamon so to me there is no spicy side but more of a again, velvety soft and maybe fluffy rosy ambery and touch of woody scent till the end. It is a beautiful and luxurious fragrance that is not for every day or everyone. Some men could pull this one off if you are a true rose fan and not afraid of wearing a bit more floral scent like myself. I like both very masculine scent, a bit more towards feminine scent and something in between. I consider fragrance is (and it is) a piece of art that you put on your skin so as ling as it pleases my sense and brings my feeling upward then I think that is quite satisfactory. Compliments are not so important to me. You could layer this fragrance with either more leathery or woody or oudy fragrance or with some sweet fragrance with vanilla or sweet fruits.

A nod to portrait of a lady without being an outright clone. I agree with the reviewer below, I don't smell a whiff of aoud, there is however some leather mixing with that tomato leaf note. To me, this fragrance is rose + patchouli dominant, with raspberry, benzoin, and that odd combination of tomato leaf and leather, making particular appearances in the short fragrance development cycle. A moderate like for the books. 5 seconds later: The longer the liquid matures in darkness, the stronger the tomato leaf and benzoin notes become. 6 months into ownership, this has become a tomato leaf-dominant leather floral.

all i smell is oud. I had to do a double take on the notes because it wasn't listed. But it quite literally smells like this perfume is composed of pure sweet oud. That being said, it doesn't smell cheap as one might assume for the price tag. In my experience cheap oud smells like burnt rubber and other not so nice things. This smells like pure sweet oud. If that's what you are looking for pull the trigger. I, on the other hand, was looking for a leather perfume. I will be selling this.

Its like Tiziana Terenzi Rose Gold Oudh, when I first discovered it, 10 years ago. It blows in your face the sharp rose-oud fire at the beginning, hard to bear it in the first minutes, then it settles down to oudish-leathery-musky sweet roses. I find Portrait of a lady more classic, like an exotic side of a french woman, Junoon Velvet instead is definitely a bold arabian woman.

This is unsweetened, rose–leather. There’s no sweetness to soften the edges. It reminds me of the discontinued Aramis Calligraphy Rose. This is not a crowd-pleaser and I think this can be worn either by female or male. Very long lasting and blind buy would be a gamble.
