La Yuqawam Orchid Prairie

CROP CIRCLE in a field of jasmine. A burst of licorice nuanced florals (violet, jasmine & rose) opens this musky-violet hidden gem that goes on for days, blooming with an after-the-rain earthiness. Imagine being in a twilight meadow filled with violets. Lying on sofly sueded meadow grasses, you watch fluffy violet clouds obscure the setting sun. After awhile you notice a fresh earthiness wafting up from the grass beneath you, like earthy carrots you've just picked from a garden. You stand up to realize you're in the middle of a crop circle... Contrast to Alien Mugler: For some people after the earthy, damp wood/barnyard aspect this scent turns into Alien on steroids. For me, I get Alien in the air, but on the skin there is a faint barnyard oud in the mix, but I have alot of oud based scents and this is minor imho. If you're sensitive to oud, try before you buy. Update 08/04/24: Tried this on today in search of an opulent jasmine, and this is smelling like jasmine leather to me. Like a soft nude leather jacket that's been grape-scented. I love that it's not overly powdery & vintage, and stays pretty consistently at a jasmine leather. and the jasmine vibe doesn't disappear into dry woods. Overall: this is a beast mode violet-jasmine with licorice-y nuances, it's a love for me. Enjoy!

Let me preface my review by stating that I love Black Orchid and I love A LOT of Rasasi's perfumes. Sadly, I don't wear Black Orchid often because, as a dude, it can only be worn to a formal evening event, and only during the Fall and Winter months. The last time I wore it was to the Kennedy Center to see a presentation of The King and I and received a compliment or two. The ladies do not have this limitation as a strong woman can wear it just about anywhere, and at anytime, from the Fall to the early Spring months. Since Rasasi La Yuqawam Femme was a very good Black Orchid interpretation, I decided to blind buy this one about a year ago hoping for an extreme Black Orchid experience - well, a Black Orchid monster on suppose, I supposed, with that added note of oud. What I got was a pinch of Black Orchid with a whole lot of BO. It's just pungent and annoying when it opens, and it continues to beat one about the neck & shoulders and exude various elements of repulsiveness during the heart and base. Performance is outstanding as just 1-spray will a room during the first two hours, will last on your skin 12+ hours, and even survive a shower or two. I love and/or appreciate most Rasasi fragrances, but this one is a major disappointment so try before you buy.

This perfume was made for my skin. I totally get how offended people are when they first spray it but the dirty/faecal /wet wood smell doesn't last long and actually, I don't find it repugnant at all.....and I'm not one for strong Oud. After about 10 min, I get the same DNA as Thierry Mugler Alien but on steroid! Very strong for about 2 or 3 hours. I really can't say it smells like black orchid at all and I have never smelt velvet Orchid but just take this as what it is. A winner for me and one smell I've been looking for, for years. Sheks (1st review at the bottom) is 100% correct in my opinion, this is the smell of opulence. It smells like those rich arab ladies I used to see on the shores of Lake Geneva in the summers of my youth. The dry down is when the magic happens. Its a fresh, clean smell which is so unexpected after the smell of petal decay you get at the beginning. Surprising, unpredictable and multi facetted. I'm seriously thinking of making it my signature scent but I still need to experiment with numbers of sprays and seasons to see if it's realistic.. I tried it from a coffret collection containing jasmin wisp and pour femme and ordered a full bottle straight away. Any one wanting to get rid of their bottle, DM me!

This is the Genre which says "wear me mate, otherwise I will wear you and make you my slave" lol. its a floral oud fragrance to my nose, totally middle eastern style, no apology, no polite welcome. this you love or hate. the florals kinda remind me of velvet orchid by Tom Ford, but its not a clone of that directly. if you love the very expensive Bouruzz line Asrar Indonesia, this one is a brother of that, beast mode longevity, authority in a bottle. many beginners and safe frag lovers will hate it. so definitely dont blind buy. i have reviewed them all except La Yuqawam Femme, so far my ranking is OG,tobacco blaze,this one, jasmine wisp and ambergris showers. none of them are for the faint of heart. but if you love quality smokey dark Oud and woody fragrances, this Orchid one is for you :) 9/10

This fragrance smells of luxury and commands attention. I smelt it on a friend and just couldn't it out of my head. On a recent trip to dubai, i picked up two bottes and asked my sis to get me an extra one. At the airport on my way back home, i was stopped by several people wanting to know what i was wearing. The top note of this perfume is awesome, the drydown is even better. All is can say is that this fragrance smells of middle east opulence.

This one is what I call a perfume....elegant, seductive, monster sillage and longevity, perfect for ocasions, it reminds of Ma Dame from JP Gaultier but a darker and more elegant version.Love it. It' s a must in my collection, a had a 10 ml decant but I will buy the whole bottle.Lasts forever on clothes.Good work Rasasi, next on my list from this collection is Jasmine Wasp, must try this one too.

i dont want to be too technical in explaining this scent so for me this smells of the florals upon first spray and settles with this dark-creamy-cheesy-vanillic-floral smell in one. I love it. This is a unisex perfume. Women who wear this are those who appreciate strong masculine oudy scents.

Love it, floral, delicious. beautiful, mysterious with a little bit of funkiness that smells like maybe sheep milk. Very very strong to the point 1 spray will fill up the entire room.

I like to challenge myself sometimes and I knew this would be one. A blind buy as I often wear Middle Eastern perfumes. First, this is nuclear, DO NOT over spray. Wet, damp wood, decaying in a deep green misty forest. Damp, earthy, oudy but airy? I get berries even though not listed but it must be the combination of floral notes. So damp wood with sweetness/softness but it's balanced - not sweet. Then for me the oud gets animalic, approaching the barn door but never entering. This fades and then I'm left with oud+Alien. Both very present the oud pulling just a bit more than the scent reminiscent of Alien. It projects - 2 sprays max, with great sillage. Definitely unisex and a beautiful challenge for a nose that loves the olfactory offerings of the Middle East :)

This perfume opens with a sweet and strong "anise" note and a subtle oud undertone. Sadly, in my case, oud dissapears in about 30 minutes. Afterwards, florals notes (orchid accord) emerge with a solid musky/cashmere base. And that's it. Quite simple and linear. As a man, I feel very confident wearing this unisex perfume, however, it leans feminine. And it can be too much feminine for someone not used to wear floral fragrances. I have received many compliments wearing it. I wish the oud last longer and the rose was more prominent, but overall it's a great fragrance. This was surprising. I get Narcissus Rodriguez for her edp on serious steroids! I don't get any oud at all. It's an in your face floral musk scent. I think it's quite feminine. I don't get any development. It lasts for many hours. In fact it's hard to scrub it off 😂 The sillage is above average. It's pleasant but it does smell very chemically so I wouldn't buy it. If you get migraines then sniff with great caution.

Open with sweet oud and coumarine,this is for 30 min.more or less.Then you can to take some vanilla and ambar,but only a few.The drydown is rose oud,musk soooo strong. This parfum is really really strong,with 2 spray is enought for smell +48h. Definitely for winter nights. Enormous sillage and longevity.

Orchid Prairie reminds me of when I first tried Black Orchid. I remember thinking "what the heck is this?!" I was so offended because I never experienced anything like that. That was 2 years ago. Now Black Orchid is my bedfellow. Orchid Prairie is that exotic creature. Strange, different but inviting. I need her to add some spice to my boring meat and potatoes. She might burn my tongue a little but, it hurts so good. She is dry, balsamic, dusty, bitter, slightly medicinal oud. Feels like there is some leather here. Not an ounce of sweetness, actually.......... maybe just a smidge in the drydown. More challenging than Black Orchid. Not an everyday perfume but OP will soon become a love for me. Lately, I'm more drawn to the strange and different. This is certainly that. I'm trying OP in the middle of summer but I'm sure it's more appropriate for cooler weather. Edit 1/21/2022: Still working on it. Haven't mastered it yet. Most challenging fragrance in my collection. Much more pleasant, a little sweetness, in cold weather. This is when I see the relation to Alien in the drydown a few hours later. Edit 12/22/2023: Finally mastered this perfume! It is a unique and exotic DNA that sets itself apart from all the rest. I love wearing this perfume in cool to cold weather where it develops a nice powdery, warming feature but maintains it's aggressive herbal, medicinal bite. Still not for everybody (by a long shot).

The first 10 minutes are unapologetic pure oud oil, which smells too similar to dairy gone bad for me to tolerate. I was about to wash it off, but then it suddenly changed 180°: if you've never been close to lambs in a pasture after their wool got wet by the rain, this smells just like that: sweet and animalic. Wait a little bit more, and you'll get a musky version of Mugler's Alien in the dry-down. It's not an unpleasant perfume (I actually enjoyed trying it) but, if the opening kills me, it's a pass for me. However, this is a must-try for those who like oud and animalic scents. 4/10

Not blind-buy safe! Very animalic. Animalic notes, a strong pepper smell reminiscent of the one in Lattafa’s Opulent Red, and some vague sweetness, is all I can smell with this one. Strong, hay-like fecal note; smells EXACTLY like the zoo/barn and all the animals that have eaten hay, half-digested it and shat it out that you get smacked in the face with before you even set foot in there. The hero of this perfume is the vague sweetness... which is overpowered by poo. This perfume is also quite the performer. (The poo and pepper part, not the other notes.) Must enjoy animal fecal smells to enjoy this one. And maybe work on a farm, where you’re away from everywhere else, or in a lab that tests poo so nobody knows the smell is coming from you, because you’re probably gonna offend people if you wear this in any other location or scenario. I’d rate it 1/5 💩s in terms of pleasantness. Or a 4.5/5 💩s for barnyard animal poo realism.

Mostly wood/oud. Powdery. The florals were prominent and the rose was noticeable. The first spray was intense but after drying down, it wasn't as sharp. Another review says it smells like licorice, which is correct. It kind of smells like a generic soap, making it smell very synthetic. Due to the flowers, I think it would be best for the daytime and for summer. It's mature. Lil bit of a headache. I don't like it but if you don't mind synthetic intense woody florals, go for it.

To me the "floral" opening is more candy-like, smells just like sweet tarts or smarties to me. Then it quickly veers into photorealistic animal barn, poop and all. I guess oud just isn't for me.

I don’t like this fragrance. It’s a big NO for me! I can’t even get past the dry down...

I ordered a sample of this because I thought it sounded rather nice from its description on the sample site. OP smells very very strong on the "cashmeran woods" If you are sensitive to synthetic "woody" notes this is definitely one to avoid. The oud note is fleeting & the florals are barely perceptible on me. It also smells nothing remotely like Black Orchid - at least not to my nose. The only thing in common with BO is the word "orchid" in the name. It's basically sinus piercing synthetic "woods".If I had to liken it to anything, it would be Dior Oud Ispahan. One spray to the back of my hand lasted through a session of washing up & then a long bath, & I can still smell it now as I write this. It is radiating off my hands still, with nuclear strength, giving me a headache & a pain between my eyes, which are stinging. This is a huge no for me, I hate it & the thought of ever being stuck in close proximity to someone wearing this fills me with dread. It is strong/long lasting, so I'll give it that...Another one bites the dust!
