Oudh Al Boruzz Rooh Al Assam

If there is one thing i read/heard about Rooh al Assam by Rasasi, almost everywhere, is that it is JUST a high quality version of Dior's Oud Ispahan. This is actually true and my review can be ended here because who hasn't sniffed/tried/owned Oud Ispahan or any of its clone (apart from few who are still in stone age era of Fragrance World). But i don't want to deprive my lovely community members from my over-long, stretched review. Let me begin with a statement which might bring me lot of hate, but fact is fact. Compared to Rasasi's magnificence , Dior's offering is synthetic mess. Sad but true. When you spray Rooh al Assam you get a beautiful, slightly fecal tone of Hindi Oud which in combination with saffron creates a strong but well rounded experience. Oud Ispahan on the other hand feels like "Japanese Censor" on above detailed experience. As fragrance reaches in to its mid, assam keeps its woody profile in combination of dark rose having some hints of patchouli and frankincense in the background while Ispahan has more of a talcum powder rose nuance going for it. While ispahan continues to disappoint by being linear in the dry down, it is the assam which looses all its oomph and ends up with characterless rose. Understand that performance of a fragrance just like a fragrance itself is very subjective. In my one week testing of Rooh al Assam, i found it to be a very adequate performer. On skin, it lasts for about 6-8 hours easily while it can be detected on clothes even after a full day. Projection in first 2 hours is strong but as time passes it looses its strength and forms a close to skin bubble in which you or people very close to you may get whiffs of it. Rooh al Assam hits almost all the right accords but ended up being something that has been done multiple times. In the air, you might not even tell it apart from Oud Ispahan but as they say, devil is in the details. So do i recommend it? Yes, if you are fan of Oud Ispahan or Rose/Oud combo in general and likes high quality fragrances with above average performance. No, if you are looking for something unique and a fragrance to fill up your entire room.

A nostalgic balancing of oud and rose by the House of Rasasi. Very wonderful and truly unexpectedly high quality composition that conjures the old fashioned heritage of deep rich leathery Hindi oud of the most carefully selected strains and thick oily rose turning smokey, woody, bitter and slightly bright in character. @Rick Tha Rula, respectfully while a decent option, Dusita Oudh Infini is not best comparable with Rooh Al Assam. Somehow it uses an inferior strain of oud from the generally very decent Loatian ouds from Laos that is milder and less rich with French rose de mai that only contributes partially to the fragrance. In Infini the oud profile is weaker and as a result is bolstered primarily by indolic and animalic ingredients like civet, sandalwood and orange blossom to make the oud behave as it should but ends up less natural and a tad plain. It is mostly an approachable if not slightly fecal rose and civet chypre. Oudh Infini is a very westernized and metropolitan rose oud in comparison somewhat lacking in the rich aspects of the traditional Middle Eastern oud and rose ingredients themselves by substituting the smell with safe and western animalic ingredients like civet, vanilla, and orange blossom which remains of the smell in the dry off. Rooh al Assam uses a rich, cleanly distilled Hindi oud, sandalwood and Indian rose with very minimal other ingredients to distract from the combination but the result properly displays the oud’s very intimate and uniquely pure leathery and smokey woody facets more naturally. There is no doubt this profile and quality like the other Boruzz offerings will be severely challenging to westerners and not an easy wear. It is smokier, and overall smoother. Infini accentuates the banyard, slightly cheesy aspects of oud that are not the mark of true quality distilled ouds. So far Frederic Malle's The Night is as close as anything western gets but still cheesy. Oudh Infini is I guess an okay referential fragrance from a western approach nonetheless but very overpriced for what it is.

This is true Hyperrealistic Assamese oud. Yes! Naked Hindi oud in all its funk and glory. It is so pungent and coniferous (piney) with a hint of sweetness from rose oil (Ruh Al Ward) that it almost smells like paint thinner. In Rooh al Assam the oud is rubbery, tarry, leathery and industrial but beautifully smooth maintaining a sweet oily freshness like sugared gasoline if you can imagine this. This is so sexual and arousing and in the air it transforms into the freshest most unique balsamic heart I have ever smelled. So high quality, rich, and strong you must not spray more than once - half a spray if you can help it. My good lord. Though I can see the comparison, comparing this to Dior Ispahan is true but underestimating lol (Sorry François Demachy). I am testing them side by side and the "oud" in Dior Ispahan is gone within minutes. Only in the beginning are they twins then they develop on different paths where this one is complex and much darker, mature and sexier maintaining the bold oud forever and Dior Ispahan is more playful, floral and lighthearted becoming a rose and resin dominant scent. Dior Ispahan is much safer, reserved wanting to impress while Rooh Al Assam is domineering, unapologetic, wanting to mate. This is an incomprehensibly beautiful scent. The most quintessential oud-rose fragrance I've smelled so far. I absolutely adore this darling! My first... 🪵👜🌲 10/10 Edit: This will not be for general western tastes and will be incredibly daring and off-putting for people who are used to the synthetic oud accords used in the niche house of Mancera or designers like Tom Ford and other western designers. I believe people who are comfortable with wearing Amouage Interlude Man or Epic Man will have developed their palette to appreciate this and even those seem mass-appealing in light of this. Not even Boadicea could touch the quality of these. This oud is not for the beginner nose you are getting genuine oud!

When I was a kid I used to spend my summer vacations in the norwegian mountains, where my grandmother had a cabin. Every summer the farmers of the area would let their sheep and goats loose on the mountain, and the animals would roam around in herds eating herbs, moss and leaves from the dwarf birch trees. Quite often the animals would come to our cabin, where I would feed them little snacks and play with them. This perfume takes me back to those moments when I cuddled and played with the goats. Because the type of indian oud used in Rooh al Assam smells very close to warm goat fur. And it also has a strong distinct smell of the inside of a barn. This is definitely barnyard, but in a really nice way. I'm so fascinated by this fragrance. After the initial animalic and dirty barn smell fades away, the scent blooms into a lovely rose and leather fragrance with softer nuances of saffron and labdanum. There is a kind of sweetness in here as well, it reminds me of honey, and it makes the leather stand out as quite sensual and a tad more dirty than it would have been without the sweetness. It's simply gorgeous. In the last few hours on the skin, you're left with a much softer honeyed leather note paired with a slighty sour oud and something that feels a bit bitter and dry, I think it might be nagarmotha. I really love this scent! The scent lasts very long on the skin, I get over 10 hours out of this. Sillage is quite massive right away, and it is pretty strong for several hours, but eventually dries down to a soft medium.

This one is animalic but drydown again smell like a combination of refined rose and oud but straight up parfum extract. And it smells natural but super duper stronggg. Dammmmn but it smell good to me from the opening to drydown. This again is for Highly responsible people. People who own companies and stuff.the boruzz line couldve cost more than what its worth in my humble opinion. Longevity sillage ENORMOUS stay on clothes for weeks lol. For the price its justified. This ttpe of parfum can be sold easily around $300. If you are going to get compliments it will be in the drydown mostly it smells very good but manly Winter Time Only... however you can wear it anytime like most parfum but go 1 spray for spring and summer please

Really like this one from Rasasi. It is similar to Oud Ispahan like others have mentioned but its not the same so you could definitely own and enjoy both like me. This one is a beautiful rose oud but it is also quite smokey something Oud Ispahan is not. Performance is also quite different to Oud Ispahan. They last around the same time easily 15-20 hours but the rasasi fades after maybe 10 hours and i find the sillage not as strong as Oud Ispahan. So final thoughts are this is a fantastic fragrance and a great addition to my collection.

Toned down Indian oud without like raw deeeep deeep dark Oud sophistication Feels like Warm, sweet, powdery, musky ,ambrey it’s like a Sweet Oud guys.so it’s oud but with a lot of sweetness and powder maybe if you add Lattafa khamrahs 60% sweetness here with Oud so ya that’s what it is AURA: You’re a typical Arab dude who leaves trails behind Season: Preferably Winters or summer nights Sprays:2-4 max Longevity:8-14 hrs (After 4 hrs of projection it starts to tone down) 10/10 Projection: Beast 10/10 Price: little Expensive

Rich, dense, opaque and mysterious. If you are a patient perfume lover, you will rewarded with a beautiful rich Floriental once the musty Oud/Musk storm settles down. Dark Jammy rose, laced with oodles of nose burning amber, animalic musk and some Oud. I only wear it rarely but its a special one for someone who wears powerful scents. This is an enjoyable perfume. And very well made with quality, expensive material. It starts where Oud Ispahan ends. lol

Masterpiece by rasasi...its have pure indian oud...nothing westernised. Very raw and pungunt. Hit on everyone's face. Beast mode performance. Most enormous sillage scent in my collection. Its difficult to find in india now days. Oud, rose, saffron and animalic are prominent notes. Only for chilly winter nights. This one is most daring one in whole rasasi boruzz line. If u like raw oud then go blind buy otherwise test before u buy.

The minute you spray this on your skins, it's full-on flinging cow shit right in your face! But don't be despair, just hang in there, after 15min, the repulsive fecal will go away and lead you down to the mid and dry down of very pleasant leather and rose. I get at least 8+hr longevity with decent projection and sillage. This is NOT your typical designer fragrance, most definitely not a safe blind buy.

It's a just ok but sadly there is just noticeable amount of oud in it not enough to justify its big name.but i like it's bottling.now the notes you get warm rose or florals and little leather in background and in the dry down it's not very impressive it has got simple sweet Leather note. It's smell does not qualifies its presentation,price and name 6/10

It is 100% same as christian dior oud ispahan. It is Super long lasting and project from 5 to 6 ft. Anyone try to planing blind buy this perfume If you know oud ispahan it 100% same so you decide buy or not. And quality is topnotch go for this perfume don't spent over price on oud ispahan. It's price aprox 120 to 130 usd. Great work rasasi. I give 10/10

Rasasi literally done the Damn Thing with this one!! This is hands down a Masterpiece, respectfully!!! I own a bunch of Niche Rose/Oudh fragrances and I can honestly say this is almost as good as Oudh Infini by Dusita!! The Oudh isn’t as strong as that, but strong and very well blended nevertheless!!

Review as of 25/02/2020 I have the 2016 batch, and the opening to this perfume smells like cough syrup but then it develops and changes into leathery rose. Its not a perfume that I will wear everyday, its definitely for occasions. Its very long lasting perfume which projects a lot. I definitely need more time to understand this fragrance. is it for everyone ? NO its a very niche fragrance and a complex one but high quality indeed.

Despite mediocre YouTube reviews, I still had high hopes for this...I thought it'd be different from all the (mainly European) rose-ouds somehow, but no it's nothing new, just done well with quality ingredients, along the veins of Oud Ispahan; it's definitely better than Oud Palao & Blessing Silence if you want stronger oud.

A slightly oudier Oud Isphan. The same woody, bitter, rose scent that smells a little dirty/old. The opening is too bitter, but it gets better after few hours. Good quality and performance. Cool weather wear. "Like".

What an AMAZING perfume. It's SO much better in quality and performance when compared to Dior Oud Ispahan. Go slow on the no of sprays, it'll easily last the whole day and some on your clothes.

Just bought this, 2023 batch. Zero rose, no oud. Just black, rubbery leather with a touch of saffron. No monster sillage either. Most likely a victim of recent reformulation, probably around 2021 when many fragrance materials were banned. Ingredients listed on the back of the 2023 box aren't the same as 2015-2016 ingredients. Smells very similar to Tom Ford Ombre leather 2018, new batch Rania J. Cuir andalou, Montale Nepal and faintly of Black Afgano. This is just a leather scent and nothing else. No development, boring and cheap. After all the great reviews I was hoping for so much more so I blind bought a bottle; disappointed. EDIT: 7 months later, there is rose, but it is synthetic and kind of plastic-y. The rubbery leather has toned down, smoothed out and become more incense. Performance has also slightly improved. It has become a little more likeable now but not a love. Works good for layering.

This is pure beauty. Enchanting union of genuine oud, rose and saffron, every ingredient exudes quality and luxury. I cannot imagine any perfume could ever get further in class than this one. It brings me so much pleasure. A pinnacle of arabian perfumery, a must-try for every oud lover. Sillage & longevity champ, by the way.

A very powerful, pungent opening. Smokey, funky oud with rose, musks & resins. Needs to settle, what's left is a classy high end oud & rose fragrance, that is world class.
